Administrator email address in Calendar server

The calendar configuration script asks for "Administrator Email Address" which is by default root@<localhost>. Do you usually change that e-mail address to point to postmaster account: [email protected]?
Thanks,

Hi,
If the user record is linked to an employee, then this is the one that Wokflow will use. If the user is not linked to an employee, then the user email address will be used instead.
There is no way to re-synchronize this - you would have to relink the user and employee again.

Matt

  • My wife and I share an Ipad.   We each have our own email address and calendar.   What is the best way for us to backup both accounts (we currently only have 1 ICloud account)?   Thanks for any help!    Alan

My wife and I each have our own email address and calendar.  These are on one IPad.   The Ipad has a single ICloud account.
What's the best way to backup both Calendars, etc?   Does ICloud automatically back up every account on the same IPad?  (I checked ICloud, but I could only find my stuff.)
    Thanks for any help!
    Alan

First, you need to understand that there's a difference between "syncing" and "backup".  Backup is the saving of content and settings, where syncing is the bidirectional transfer of content for an account to a web-based server (like iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
If you see your calendar in your iCloud account, that implies that you have set up your iCloud account to host (sync) your calendar, and perhaps contacts, email, and notes.  An iCloud account can only sync one user's information at a time so it is intended to support a single user.  You can have more than one iCloud account, and you can even have more than one iCloud account on the same device (but one has to be primary, and the secondary iCloud has limited capabilities), but a single iCloud account only supports a single user's content.
Backup is the saving of your device's content and settings to use in case you need to recover these things, but you can't see the contents of your backup (just the size and device name).  You can backup more than one device to iCloud and you can backup to iCloud or you can backup to your computer, or both (one at a time though, you have to choose).
So, if your wife has her own email and calendar she can certainly do that in parallel to whatever account(s) you have for email and calendar.  But if you have only one iCloud account then only one of you can use it for email, calendar, etc.  But the backup of these accounts is really just a backup of the device's settings that link the device to these accounts. For example, if she uses Gmail then the backup of the iPad only backs up the fact that your iPad is set up to use her account, it does not backup the account itself (the content of her account is saved and preserved on Google's servers, not your device's backup).
    Does that make better sense?

  • Do I need Open Directory for multiple email addresses for Calendar users?

    Hey all,
I have a single mac mini which I use simply as a calendar server for +/- 20 users. One day I might use Profile Manager to manage their iOS devices too. On the initial installation, we enabled Open Directory, although I'm not sure that it's required, and we have no plans re using it to manage network logins etc aside from existing calendaring.
I'm working through a migration from a Lion Server.app install to Mavericks, and due to some data corruption issues, we'll probably just rebuild the server and reimport the users calendars.
On my existing Lion Server installation, I can still use workgroup manager to assign multiple email addresses to calendar users, so that when a user invites another user to a calendar event using any of their email addresses (we have several variations), the invitation still gets pushed to the correct calendar user.
On Mavericks, without installing Open Directory, it seems I can't do this (I've downloaded Workgroup Manager for Mavericks, but it obviously can't connect to a local open directory). If Open Directory is optional, I'd rather not install it, to avoid overhead and complexity, but I still need a way to manage these multiple email addresses (aliases doesn't cut it).
    Any ideas / suggestions?
    Thanks,
    D

For Calendar server to send actual email invitations to an attendee, two things must happen:
First, you need to configure Server.app > Calendar > Enable invitations by email.  Enabling that will bring up a wizard dialog that will step you through the IMAP and SMTP account settings.  The default values in that wizard will tell Calendar server to use the local Mail server (which you then would have to configure to use the appropriate SMTP relay, etc.).  Or you can change the wizard settings to refer to an external IMAP and SMTP server.  It is wise to use a dedicated IMAP account for Calendar server's use -- don't go using someone's personal IMAP account because there might be some "undesirable interactions", let's say.  If you need help configuring this for, say, a Gmail account, I can help with that.
Second, the email address for the attendee must *not* be known to Calendar server, i.e. it should *not* be in the Directory.  As you probably found out, if Calendar server sees that the attendee has an email address that is in the Directory, the attendee is considered to be "local" and the invitation will be delivered directly to the attendee's calendar client.  If you simply leave those other email variations out of the Directory, Calendar server will consider that attendee "remote" and will send an actual email with a special attachment that calendar clients can understand.
    Hope that helps.

  • How can I use multiple email-addresses with "Administration Email Address"

What syntax should I use to have more email-adresses in the screen "Manage Service - Instance Settings - Email" after the field "Administration Email Address".
    I tried:
    - '[email protected]','[email protected]'
    - '[email protected], [email protected]'
    - '[email protected]; [email protected]'
    - "[email protected]','[email protected]"
    - "[email protected], [email protected]"
    - "[email protected]; [email protected]"
    Every time I get the ORA-29279 / 501.
Please help me with the right syntax for multiple email-addresses.
    Thanx!
    reg.
    Chris

From a google search of the docs, it looks that that field is used as a FROM address... hence it's by definition only one address.
Administration Email Address - Defines the "from" address for administrative tasks that generate email, such as approving a provision request or resetting a password.

  • Help with having 2 same email address in calendars

Help I am trying to put my kids hockey schedule into calendar but it won't let me because they have the same email address.  Is there a way that I can have both my kids schedules go into calendars?

Both my boys are in hockey and I want to add both their schedules to the calendar but it will only let me add one schedule. I went into my settings into mail, contacts and calendars and added the website for the one schedule. Then I tried to add the other schedule and it told me that I already had that website. I would like to have both in my calendar.

  • Forum administrator email address?

Hi there,  I cannot find the forum administrator's email address.  Can somebody help?  Many thanks.

You don't need an e-mail address!
Just click on "options" in the upper right corner of this (or yours, or any other) post and select "report to a moderator".
----> You'll get a windows where you can voice your concerns.
Your message will get read and forwarded to the correct person.

  • Multiple email address with one server account

Why can't Mail have multiple email addresses on one email account? Like Thunderbird calls them Identities. As I remember, Outlook also supports this. I like Mail but it seems rather dated and clunky in this respect.
I am using mainly IMAP so maybe I should switch to Thunderbird but I do still have some old messages in pop accounts in Mail.

You can have multiple accounts, but only one "identity." Configure new mail accounts for all the different email addresses you may have. They can each have different configurations, different servers, etc. as well as be individually made active or inactive. All incoming mail will funnel into a single Inbox, but you can use rules to transfer incoming mail to separate mailboxes based on the account.
What you cannot have are distinct "personalities."
Bear in mind that Mail is intended for a single user and the vast number of single users only have one email account. I actually have four different email addresses but three of them are set to forward mail to the account I use with Mail. Mail works quite well with IMAP, POP, and Outlook mail accounts.

  • Question About using multiple email address w/ IMAP server

With apple mail in the account settings you can put multiple email address separated by a comma. This allows you to select your from address when sending new mail.
I have added this to the iphone mail settings but I dod not have the option to select what address I would like to send from. Is there a way to do this.? Thank you.

No, no chance of specifying a different FROM address unless you use the "Other" shortcut on the iPhone to create the mail account.

  • Why does my iPad say email address rejected by server ?

When I try to send an email, my I pad says the senders address was rejected by the sever. Help I've already contacted the server.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

  • "...email address rejected by server" How to fix

Using an iPhone on AT&T network and I can't send from one of my e-mail accounts. I receive the dreaded "One or more of the recipients addresses have been rejected by the server." I'm not sure what happened as the e-mail seemed to work fine up until a month ago.
    Any thoughts?

Outlook is a mail client, it connects to many different email systems, the question therefore is: who is your mail provider?

  • AOL email address refusing the server password

    Hi all,
Two days ago the AOL servers started to reject my password on all my MAC hardware ,IMac ,Macbook Air and Iphone 4. This is also happening to my wifes Aol email account on her systems. I can access the email account through Safari OK so it is not a problem with our passwords being corrupt.
Any ideas. Not too much a problem for me but my wife uses her AOL account for business and it is causing her some agro and I am getting the blunt end .
    Any advise accepted.

    Hello:
No help to you, but my AOL mail works fine here in Apple's mail application.
I am sure you know that AOL's tech support is spotty at best.
The only thing I can think of is to trash the preference file (com.apple.mail.plist) and restart.  I have had occasional password issues in the past with AOL, but they usually disappeared on their own - I assumed that AOL was the culprit.

  • I would like to change the email address that Calendar alerts get sent to. Thank you.

Thanks to anyone who is able to assist.
I will be logging off now and will check again tomorrow.
    Kathy

I have worked it out thank you.

  • Recently changed my email provider.  However, Calendar continues to try to send alerts to my old email provider.  I have not found any way to tell Calendar to use the correct email address.  I have chained iCloud, AppleID, and local email settings.

Sorry for the long title - I thought I had to explain my entire problem there ...
I recently switched ISPs, so now I have a new email address.  I've updated mail, can send and receive successfully, recreated my iCloud account, and made sure my Contacts entry was correct. But Calendar's alert function stubbornly tries to send email to my old email address.  I haven't found any way to change the list of email addresses that Calendar uses.  This is the Calendar desktop app, not iCal.  Any tips would be appreciated.

So what was the solution. I have a similar problem on all of my devices now
