Administrator locked himself out! Help!

Call me dumb -- but call me! Or rather, tell me how to get
out of this mess I just created for myself.
I'm the Contribute 3 administrator for a site for one of our
clients. He got a message saying he needed a new connection key. As
the administrator, I first wanted to test the basic functionality,
so I created a new connection key for a user with minimal
privileges -- fewer than my client, and not an administrator.
Then, to test the new key, I closed Contribute, then
double-clicked on the new key. I got a message asking if I wanted
to replace the existing key. I assumed this meant just for the
moment, and clicked yes.
Well, the new key does connect with the site, but without the
editing privileges my client needs. And I am no longer the
administrator.of the site, but rather this minimal user. By
clicking "yes" to "replace existing key?" I changed my identity. I
don't know the password for the administrator connection key I
created years ago. And I can't give administrator privileges to the
identity based on the new connection key, because Contribute knows
there is already an existing administrator for the site.
Of course, that "existing administrator" is me, but I've
locked myself out and lost the key (or rather, the password for the
key), so there is no way I can tell Contibute, "Hey, it's me, the
Administrator, let me in!" And I also can't start over, because
Contribute is reserving the Administrator's chair for me.
So what the heck do I do now?
Help!!!!!

Or just create a completely new connection to the site
entering your ftp username and password. You then have the
opportunity to choose your role as Contibute understands that if
you have this username and password you have they keys to the
entire site anyways!
Pretty sure I am correct that this will work...

  • User locking himself out

    Hello,
I have this strange issue. Whenever the user is in the template and he loses his network connection, he is logged off from the system. When he logs back in, it says he is locking himself out.
I am aware that I can release locks in SM12 or close user session in SM04. Is there any other solution for this?
    Thanks for your inputs,
    Danny

    Hello Danny,
This is an issue which we have seen in many places.
One thing is to ensure that in your portal interface you have DSM terminator functionality in place. This function effectively logs out a user, if the connection is terminated or the users decide to just close the web page rather than logging out.
In most other cases, the locks get released in 15-20 minutes. Hence it is better to emphasise in training the need to log out rather than just close the session. In cases where the connection just drops, than the DSM terminator should kick in.
In few cases, we have asked the users to log into the BW client, and choose the option to close all previous connections and log in.
    Hope this helps.
    Sunil

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite, File Vault locked me out, help!

I decided to upgrade to Yosemite, and after the installation something happened somehow, and file vault lost the password for my account making it impossible for me to log in. I have tried to restore from my time machine back ups but the issue remains no matter the date of my backup. I have also tried to wipe the drive and start over hoping to manually restore everything bit by bit from time machine, but it seems as though the drive is encrypted and I cannot access any files other than the system files??
    help please!!

Filevault can't have lost your account password it is a system for encrypting the data on your hard drive to prevent people from accessing it without the password. If anything went wrong in that process you cannot break the encryption on that in any easy fashion. Call AppleCare for further assistance since its a new OS you will not be charged for assistance. I had the same problem last year, I enabled filevault and lost my recovery key after a move, luckily I chose to send a copy to Apple during its setup and they could get me sorted out. Good Luck.

  • HT204053 I changed my ID and now it's locked me out HELP!

I changed my apple account because of a closing email account and now when I go into my iPad settings and click on the iCloud it won't let me back anything up because it doesnt recognize my new account email or password

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • I locked myself out of my ipod touch for 60 mins then actually typed the wrong password in again.  Now it is telling me to "connect to itunes".  I am unsure how to do this.  I am unable to use my ipod at all now. Please help.

    Hi,
Due to my brother locking me out of my ipod touch I had to wait an hour to log in again.  Unfortunately when I did this, I, again put in the wrong password twice more, each time locking me out for a further 60 minutes.  On my 3rd attempt to log in the wrong password was entered again.  This time though instead of logging me out for another 60mins it now tells me to "connect to itunes" but I have no idea how to do this and I am now unable to use my ipod.  Please help.

  • HT4061 Hi, I did an IOS update last week and when the ipad rebooted it is asking me for a passcode ... i have never entered a passcode originally so dont know what passcode to input to open my ipad... it just locks me out... help what do i do ??

    I need help :-(
Did an IOS update last week and after the Ipad rebooted it said slide to unlock then asked for a passcode to be entered..... I have never set a passcode ever ??
What number do I enter to unlock the Ipad ... have tried the usual 0000 and 9999 etc but just locks me out .... HELP  !!!
Or is there a way to go back to factory settings ?? (Without losing my Apple ID etc)
    Thanks

If this was your first update to iOS 7 then you were asked to CREATE a passcode. Also there would have been a small Skip button to avoid creating the passcode. If, when you encountered that request you went ahead and entered a passcode number then you must use that number to unlock your device. Once the device is unlocked you can change or delete the passcode using the Settings app.
To completely remove the passcode lock you need to connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with and restore the iPad. This will erase all data on the iPad so be sure your info, photos, etc. are backed up first.

  • I need help turning on my apple Ipod device i locked myself out

I need help turning on my apple Ipod device. i have locked myself out.

If problem try the items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • So i locked myself out the ipod and i followed the steps to restore. it was restoring,,in the last eight minutes my ipod went back on and it said ipod disabled..but there was still restoring and then it said the connectioned timed out i need help

i locked myself out of my ipod and i tryed unlocking it and then the "ipod is disabled" remark shoowed up. I knew what to do to restores it but in the last one minute of restoring a message popped up and said something about it cant finish it and the connectioned timed out. I tried this at my buddies house and it did the same. Ieven my freind (whos very good in electronics and computers) couldnt do it, i need help is there anyway possible?

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.

  • Tried to activate fingerprint swipe on my samsung galaxy s5 and locked myself out. Help!

Can someone tell me how to get back into my phone after I apparently locked myself out?

Did you set an alternate password?  If you didn't, or if you can't remember it, did you activate Android Device Manager on your phone and associate it with your Google account?  If so, then you may be able to use Android Device Manager to unlock your phone.  Otherwise, you'll have to do a factory data reset (and all your data will be lost unless you've backed it up somewhere).
