Administrator Web Interface Extremely Slow

We have been seeing very poor performance when using the IPlanet Web Server Administrator interface. It typically takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute to load a given page within the administrator website.
Is anyone else seeing this issue? I have tried using Firefox and IE but both are equally slow.
I am running Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.11 B03/11/2011 07:54
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I'm having this problem. I search this issue but could not get the result.
I use a 64 bit Solaris, iPlanet Admin GUI only working under localhost. I enter remote computer URL, not open login screen because very laggy.
This is not a problem a port.
Looking up 212.156.4.2
Connected to 212.156.4.2
Waiting for 212.156.4.2

Marty, How do you solve the problem? How do rebuild. Can you explain?
Thanks

  • Employee W2 XML Interface EXTREMELY slow

The Employee W2 XML Interface on about 2,500 employees is running extremely slowly. I kicked it off at 1 p.m., Saturday Dec. 8. It is still not complete.
This is a test system where we are preparing for year-end processes. I have completed the Year End Pre-Process fine.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just now figured out that even the XML Output is not correct. It has some data with the content "

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

  • Choose Disk interface extremely slow

Odd problem. On my MacPro I've been backing up to an external FW800 drive for quite awhile. Earlier last week I moved that drive to my Leopard Server, repartitioned it and reformatted it. I've made it available as a time machine backup destination and my Mini and MBP are happily backing up to it now.
Problem is on the MacPro when I select "Change Disk" in the time machine preferences it takes forever to bring up a list (at least a minute). On that list I see my local drives and the server drive. Each refresh of the list takes a minute or more (i.e. I click no disk or the server drive). Eventually I get the server drive selected and when it goes to back up it says the drive can't be mounted.
    Any idea what's going on?

    Hello oswaldt,
Do you still experience the "slow interface" problem with Time Machine?
I had the same with Mac OS 10.5.4 Server on a PowerMac G5. The problem went away after a fresh install. But now having switched on a MacPro and done a bit of configuration on the server, I get the "slow interface" problem back.
Here's what I've done so far, so you may recognize something in your setup:
    - Server boot disc is a mirror of 2 x 250 GB (internal).
    - The 2 other internal drives are 500 GB each, and were concatenated.
    - A Sonnet Fusion D500P is connected through a Sonnet Tempo SATA E4P controller card. Tower is loaded this way:
    -- bay 1: 500 GB
    -- bay 2: 500 GB
    -- bay 3: 1000 GB
    -- bay 4: 500 GB
    -- bay 5: 500 GB
    bay 1 and 4 are stripped (STRIP1);
    bay 2 and 5 are also stripped (STRIP2);
    STRIP1 and STRIP2 are mirrored;
    bay 3 is the TimeMachine backup drive;
All disc mirroring, contenation and stripping were done using DiskUtility.
[edit]: I've forgot, I also have a 300 GB Maxtor OneTouch drive connected through FireWire...
The MacPro has 8GB of RAM.
On the server config side, I have:
    - Fixed IP address;
    - working DNS setup with a custom-made top-level zone for the LAN;
    - freshly started OpenDirectory service;
    - AFP service running (automatic configuration, I've touched nothing);
    - no other service running for now;
    - hostname returned by command "hostname" in Terminal is not <nameOfComputer>.local. It's a fully qualified name like server.gti.lan.
Note that, on my side, although the interface is very slow, I can get TimeMachine to work. So I suspect there are two problems in your case: slow GUI response time, and then drive-related issue.
Let me know what you can find. I've seen very few posts regarding that problem, and found none answered so far...

  • WAP200 Slow Web Interface

Anyone else experiencing an extremely slow web interface in the WAP200?
Even if I connect the cable side directly to my computer to eliminate our LAN as the problem, it is still painfully slow.
For example:  After completing the login box when browsing to the AP, it takes 2-3 minutes to draw the first web page

Using it as an access point with only 1 SSID configured for WPA/PSK/TKIP using FW 1.0.22.
The other day, after the unit had been on for about a week, the "Setup.htm" page took about 2 hours to load into a browser.
Using the Linux "wget" command from another machine as a test showed that the webserver within the unit transmitted 1448 bytes to begin with, and then stopped for 20 minutes, and then sent about another 16K bytes of data.
Since the symptom is present on windows XP IE7 and Windows 2000 IE6, as well as a generic linux command-line command, it tells me that the WAP200 is the problem.
In each case, I tested with the computer connected direct to the WAP200 without any other networking devices between them.

  • How to fix extremely slow printing from web pages with latest updates (iMac) & HP Office jet printer. (It was not a problem with earlier versions of Firefox & same computer & printer.)

The latest two updates of Mozilla Firefox are not useful for me because of extremely slow printing of web pages. It was never a problem before. Same iMac and HP officejet printer. How can I either fix it, or revert to an earlier version of the browser (without losing all my bookmarks) which didn't cause this problem?

Try scanning from your Mac.  Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom.  Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

    Hello,
My users do not have the right of installing anything by themselves on their workstation. But for testing reasons I have to provide the Administration Tool. Can I download it somewhere from web interface (for example as we can download BI Desktop Tools)?
    Version of OBIEE is 11.1.1.7.
    Thanks for your answer.

YOURSERVER/saw.dll?bieehome <-- There's a download link but you will still need to install it. That will just get you the binaries.
Alternatively they lie on your server under INSTALLFOLDER/MiddlewareHome/Oracle_BI1/clients

  • HT3964 My MacBook Air running on Snow Leopard gets extremely slow (almost like a hang, except if you wait about half an hr, it actually moves) after login interface. sometimes it never gets past the background. Cannot log back in.

My MacBook Air running on Snow Leopard gets extremely slow (almost like a hang, except if you wait about half an hr, it actually moves) after login interface. Sometimes it never gets past the background of the homepage, desktop doesn't seem to load. After multiple forced shut downs and left to run for hours, sometimes the desktop loads but the dock does not respond when applications are opened. The computer is then unable to shut down normally. Forced shut downs are necessary most times. Time machine backup takes extremely long, and attempts to use the time machine to bring the laptop back to the time befiore the problem arose was met with extremely slow and hung time machine function.
    Please help!

There isn't much besides a failing hard drive or other hardware fault that can cause those symptoms. Run the Apple Hardware Test, or just take it to an Apple Store for testing.

  • 3850 web interface slow to load, especially for webauth

    Hi all,
Got a cat 3850 switch acting also as a wireless controller. Running 3.6.0E One thing that I've noticed is that loading the web interface to configure it is terribly slow.  Also for guest authentication, it takes a long time for the web page to load.  Tried IE and firefox with same results.
    Thoughts?

Hey thanks for the reply Rasika.  Yes, I'm aware that the GUI isn't quite there yet.  However for the webauth, I would expect it to be somewhat fast.  The webauth file is custom, but small.
Here's the contents of the flash directory and some config:

  • Extremely slow interface

I'm using iDVD 7.0.1 and experiencing an extremely slow user interface that is essentially unusable. After sending a 2 hour video (3.27 GB) from Garageband 4.1 to iDVD, the interface becomes hopelessly sluggish after auto-filling the drop zones. Any click on the interface results in 20-30 seconds of massive disk activity at about 45-50 MB/s. CPU runs at about 50-60% for iDVD. There is no paging activity.
Once the disk activity dies down, the interface responds. The next click sends it into a fit again.
In the map view, if all the chapters are visible as thumbnails, then it takes much longer to respond. I have to keep the map window as small as possible to display as few thumbnails as I can.
I've closed all other apps, even rebooted, but the problem persists. It's almost like it's reading through the large file trying to find each thumbnail and autofilled area.
    Ideas welcome.

It originated in EyeTV, was exported to iMovie, had chapters added in Garageband and was imported into iDVD. I have no idea how to find out what format it's in. Although it sounds messy, I repeated this exact sequence with a 35 minute long movie witout problems.
The movie I'm attempting now is very close to the 2 hour limit of iDVD. I suspect the problem lies there.

As you can see from the bottom of my posting, I have 2 GB of memory. At the time of encoding there was several hundred MB free in Activity Monitor.

    Yes.

Done. I'll repeat the encoding now in High Quality to reduce the time it takes to test this out. If it fails, I'm going to split that sucker in two.

  • My macbook pro (late 2011) is extreme slow, freezing, crashing and lagging too often.

I am new to the forum, I hope this is the good topic to post my problem.
I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro, and it is getting slower and slower. The performance was bad with Mavericks as well, but now, with Yosemite installed, it is much more worse. I have never reinstalled my system (only upgraded the osx), so it is an almost 3 years old setup. In that time I have installed a lot of applications, and also deleted a lot. About a year ago I upgraded the RAM, but didn't help too much. Now with Yosemite my startup time is more than 5 minutes, and sometimes the startup freezes (and I have to push the power button long to retry). Safari with 5-10 tabs is extreme slow, and lagging when I switch tabs or open new ones. To launch a new app, for example skype, i have to wait 1-2 minutes. Everything is slow. Sometimes my finder crashes, and works only if I restart the macbook. Another example: if I open the downloads folder in Finder, I have the spinning loading icon for about 20-30 seconds, and just after this time can I see the content of the folder.
My console is full of errors, I get new records in every single seconds. I repaired the disk permissions, deleted safari cache, history, etc. but nothing helped.
Many people here attached an "etrecheck" record for their threads, I downloaded the app, and made one scan, you can see my results here, I hope someone with more technical skills can help me!
    Thank you in advance!
(and sorry for my english - it is not my mother language)

      Dec 11, 2014, 12:04:08 PM Self test - passed

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • My mini Mac with a i5 processor is extremely slow to open documents and programs. Is there a solution to this??

Anyone can asset me please. My mini Mac is a 2.3 GHZ i5 Core. 8 GB Ram 13333 MHz with OS 10.7.5.
Pretty much since day one this computer is very..extremely slow to respond to any command. Opening documents or programs the system spin for ever.
Any idea what could be causing this???  I was told that to many pictures slow down the system, I have only 700 pic on file

  • Mavericks extremely slow on MacBook Pro Mid-2010

    Hi all,
Since i installed Mavericks its been impossible to work on my Mac. I've already done a clean install and no signs of improve.
I use Eclipse IDE to work, and its extremly slow now. Even can have some video playing on Youtube without some cuts when working.
What should i do? Downgrade to ML? Sell this laptop? Buy new RAM?
I've attached below the EtreCheck.... i don't know if theres something on my OS that may be causing this.
PS: ....and the OS already indexed all the files.
Big thanks for any help given.

First, back up all data immediately unless you already have a current backup. If you can't back up, stop here. Do not take any of the steps below.
    Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|pagin|timed? ?o' | tail | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
    Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)

If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Extremely slow mac mini

i am using a mac mini with 2 GB of ram and 2.3 intel core i5, my os is OS X 10.7.5, recently, my computer has been extremely slow, for every click i did, it takes at least 10 seconds to respond, i could not find out why.

Back up all data immediately as your boot drive may be failing.
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator. I've tested them only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU D|I/O|find tok|n Cause: -|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • 1415 fnw printer wireless connection extremely slow or not working with OS X, works with windows

The wireless connection to the printer is either extremely slow or not working at all on OS X Yosemite.  It shows up in the list of printers in Bonjour in Safari, and I can connect to parts of the web interface if I wait a very long time.  However, I cannot add the printer as a new printer in System Preferences even though the printer shows up.
I have upgraded to the latest firmware.  The WiFi indicator on the printer is on, "green", and it has a reserved IP showing up in my router (ComCast).  It seems that Windows machines can printer to the printer wirelessly without a problem.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello @sscotti,
I would like to assist you today with installing your wireless HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer on your Mac OS X 10.10 Computer. Now you indicate in your post that this printer works fine with Windows computers, and you are able to 'see' the Bonjour printer on your Mac. Therefore, the issue that you are experiencing is not network related. Rather, I do believe that you are experiencing a driver conflict on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Can I please have you run the steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
First, I'm going to have you 'clean up' your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to verify that any trace of your Laserjet printer is gone so we have a nice clean slate to work with. Please click here and when the website opens select the drop down for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. Run the appropriate uninstall steps for the method in which you originally tried to install your printer: Apple Updates, or the HP Driver download.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the appropriate Mac OS X 10.10 drivers for your HP Laserjet printer.
Once the website opens select the 'download' button on the top left
Once the download has completed, please follow the onscreen steps to reinstall your printer.
Once the reinstall is complete, test the print and scan functions to ensure that your printer is functioning as per normal.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should you still be experiencing issues there are additional steps I can have you run through. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!
