Admrgpch fails in Maintenance Wizard 2.17
In a 11.5.10.2 upgrade to 12.1.1, Maintenance Wizard 2.17 fails to merge 2 R12 patches.
The following error occurs:
The admrgpch.log contains 3 lines which is
Could not load program /finwiz/oracle/10.2.0/eof/patches/r12_ad/bin/admrgpch:
Dependent module /finwiz/oracle/10.2.0/eof/patches/r12_ad/bin/libnnz10.so could not be loaded.
The module has an invalid magic number.
As apps owner admrgpch is successful. As Maintenance Wizard owner admrgpch fails.
Any feedback would be appreciated,
Bob
Hi, Bob,
I haven't seen that particular error before. Can you tell me what platform your MW node is running, and also what platform your Apps Admin node is running?
If it's the same O/S, are they patched to the same levels?
We copy the merge executable (and a few files) to the MW node to do the patch merging in a more efficient fashion... so that's why I'm asking. It's possible the AD folks might have added a new library file (although I would have expected to have numerous customers reporting this then)...
Also, did this EVER work? Or is this your first attempt?
Thanks,

11i to R12 upgrade and Maintenance Wizard and the Maintenance Wizard Forum
MetaLink doc 215527.1 recommends using the Maintenance Wizard to upgrade from 11i to R12.
The Maintenance Wizard is extolled elsewhere in this Forum to replace the Upgrade Spreadsheet.
And it is referenced a couple times in the 11i forum.
But that's not much press considering Oracle's description below.
Also, all the Maintenance Wizard MetaLink docs below reference a Maintenance Wizard forum.
The forum contains excellent feedback including how to use Maintenance Wizard within a firewall.
LCM: Maintenance Wizard
But the Maintenance Wizard forum was Archived ~two weeks ago.
Some clarification would sure be useful.
What I'm actually trying to confirm is exactly what OAS or iAS or OC4J to use with it.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
From 215527.1:
Oracle Support provides Maintenance Wizard to guide you through the upgrade of Oracle Applications technology stack and products from Release 11i versions to Release 12. It draws on instructions from numerous manuals and other documentation to provide you with a complete picture of the activities required for an upgrade.
Maintenance Wizard helps you to reduce upgrade tasks by dynamically filtering the necessary steps based on criteria it obtains from your Applications environment. The resulting report is a set of step-by-step instructions of exactly what you need to do to complete your specific upgrade, including any critical patches that your system may require. It can also automatically execute many of the tasks for you, so as to reduce the possibility of errors or accidental omission of vital tasks.

PS - To answer Tom's imbedded question (What I'm actually trying to confirm is exactly what OAS or iAS or OC4J to use with it.), please look at the Installation Guide (note 329476.1). In step 2 of the prerequisites, it states:
Maintenance Wizard version 2.x requires Oracle RDBMS 10g (10.2.0) with 10g iAS (10.1.3).
Hope this is what you needed, Tom.... -
EBS upgrade from 11i to R12 using Maintenance Wizard question
I have installed Maintenance Wizard in development envrionment. I picked module to upgrade 11i to R12. When I am defining the node it not only picked up 11i nodes but required me to configure R12 nodes. So Do I have to to create upgrade file system(for R12) and then configured R12 nodes in Define nodes? My configuration is in In configuration at this time as I did not configured R12 nodes.
Please help me resolve this issue. My question is which database oracle_home we have to consider to upgrade R12? and What about another one oracle_home?
When you run Rapid Install, provide the details of the already upgraded/installed 11.2.0.3 ORACLE_HOME.
For 11gR1 ORACLE_HOME which is installed by Rapid Install, please see (How to upgrade Oracle E-Business Suite from 11i to 12.1.1 and keep the existing 10g Database? (Doc ID 1345020.1)).

Is there a way to use the Maintenance Wizard with a .profile file...
Good afternoon all...
In my environment we have the same applmgr account for multiple databases. The .profile delivers a menu that allows the user to pick which database they wish to work with, and then a script runs which changes the environment specific variables for the desired database.
In many environments I have worked in the .profile is used to setup environmental variables for the applmgr account.
In looking at the instructions for setting up Maintenance Wizard it says to ensure ssh or rsh access to each of the applications servers using the applmgr account, and removing any .profile or .login scripts. This is not viable in my environment.
In asking on metalink I was told 1) just ignore the ssh setup stuff; and 2)the ssh setup is essential for maintenance wizard to work. Clearly conflicting advice.
How can I install/implement maintenance wizard without the loss of my current .profile configuration?
Please advise,
AdamOracle support's assessment was that that there is no way around the requirement to use ssh/remsh, I did a bit of further research into the issue. I developed a resolution for hpux as follows...
I used ssh rather than remsh for my shell and created a conditional statement in my .profile to handle the issue...
# Set environment script if not secure shell -- 100311 MAC
if [ -n "$SSH_CLIENT" ]
then
#Set up the shell environment
set -u
trap "echo 'logout'" 0
umask 012
else
#Set up the shell environment
set -u
trap "echo 'logout'" 0
umask 012
# Set up Oracle environment
. /usr/local/bin/envch
fi
The conditional uses -n for not null, or in other words it is True if the variable is defined but false if it is not.
The variable $SSH_CLIENT is defined when logging in through ssh, but undefined when using another terminal method.
If it is an ssh shell I still setup other environment variables, but I have to move the "set -u" line to a result of the conditional as placing it before the conditional will make the -n test condition invalid. (It will cause references to an undefined variable to return an error rather than null). If it is not an ssh shell I again setup the variables but also call the interactive component of the login as it's own script.
I have tested this successfully and will now move on with the rest of the maintenance wizard installation.
Thank you,

Maintenance Wizard Installation on more than one box.
Hi,
We are in the process of installing the Maintenance Wizard, to help us on our EBusiness upgrade. As a current, policy we avoid installing App server and database on the same machine (it also applies for MW installation).
The only part where something similar is mentioned is on the FAQ. But I'm not sure if the installation is supported having one box for the database and one box for the App server. Can anyone help me on this topic?
Thank you.

Maintenance Wizard appears to hang: Execution Started: Please Wait
I have a customer using the following navigation route through Maintenance Wizard:
Process: Prep for Upgrade
Select: Task:Apply AD Minipack
'Start the Run'
However the next page seems to hang with:
Script Executer: Execution Started
'Confirm that "Execution Complete"message appears at the end of this page.'
Please Wait.
Can anyone advise what could be the problem or how to get additonal errors to diagnose the problem. It took about 8 seconds for me. Not too bad at all.

I've checked in the path /u01/acc/oramw/product/11.1.0/db_2/eof/config/encr_wallet & there are no files in it.
/u01/acc/oramw/product/11.1.0/db_2/eof/config/encr_wallet

Hi,
We are planning to install and configure Maintenance Wizard for our R12.1.1 instance.
I am confused about the pre-reqs. Somewhere it mentions that we need to install RDBMS Oracle Home + iAS Oracle Home.
However, the note 329476.1 which details the installation procedure, nowhere mentions anything about iAS Oracle Home.
We are planning to install the latest MW(patch 8912211) as described in Note: 430732.1
Please help me with your inputs.

Is there any plan to have Maintenance Wizard on Windows platform?
I am planning to upgrade our 9i/11.5.10.2 to 11g/R12 on Win2000. The client doesn't have UNIX/Linux in the shop. It seems we can't use Maintenance Wizard for the upgrade. Is there any plan to have Maintenance Wizard on Windows platform?
Thanks,
JennyJenny,
We have considered this many times over the lifetime of the MW, but it seems the demand is never great enough. We hear from about 2-3 customers a year who would like to see this feature. It came back very low in the "desirability" ratings from our MW survey last year.
So I'm sorry to say that there is no plan to make MW installable on a Windows box at this time.
(It can be used for customers with Apps nodes on windows, but with the caveat that you lose automatic execution... See the FAQ, note 405263.1, for more details.)

What does "Remote EOF_HOME" in Maintenance Wizard Refer To
We are trying to set up Maintenance Wizard 2.18 to do an 11.5.10.2 to R12.1 migration and cannot figure out what the value of "Remote EOF_HOME" should be or where it gets created..
I want to know exactly where that directory will be created. What it is used for would also be nice to know so I can make sure it has enought space.
Thanks in advance!Samuel,
Also note that there is a more detailed description of every one of the Node Attributes available right in the Define Nodes attribute screen. Just to the right of the field itself, there is a small "i" icon inside of a bubble. Clicking on that icon will show you more information to assist you in populating the attribute with the correct value.

Maintenance Wizard Version : 1.28 - Seed Information?
Hi,
I'm using version Maintenance Wizard Version : 1.28
Specifically:
Maintenance Wizard Version : 1.28
Component Product Release ...
Applications Database Upgrade Assistant 9i : 1.20
Maintenance Pack Assistant for 11.5.10 : 1.28
Upgrade Assistant for 11.5.10 : 1.23
Applications Database Upgrade Assistant 10g : 1.12
Upgrade Assistant for 11.5.9 : 1.09
Shouldn't the option to upgrade to r12 be present under the Product field when adding a Project?
Or, am I mis-interpreting the demos ?
It also does not offer the option to utilize the AutoConfig files for Adding Node configuration information.
Could some of my Seed data be out of synch?
Any assistance is Appreciated!
MurphHi, Murph,
No, you're seeing exactly what you should be seeing on any version of the Maintenance Wizard that starts with "1." That's the OLD version (which we're trying to phase out), and is only used for upgrade to 11.5.10.2 or 10g, etc.
The new versions begin with "2.", and can be obtained by clicking on the Downloads link of note 215527.1. The new version currently contains both the R12 upgrade, and the 10g DB upgrade for Apps.
Eventually, 2.x will contain one or two additional products that were present in the old 1.x version, and at that time, the 1.x versions will be desupported.
I hope that clears it up! :-)
