Adobe 10 Freezes my PC

I bought Adobe 10 because 7 does not support the new D800 RAW files.
Unfortunately I cannot use the software at all as it freezes my pc.
In fact even if I dont open it the auto uploader freezes the PC after about 3 mins of inactivity.
So having worked this out I managed to open the program without the uploader. I can look at a couple of D800 photos and guess what it freezes.
The machine is windows 7 and has a rating of 7.4 so fast as is comes.
If has newest drivers.
It has no issues with any other software.
It has no issues with Nikon NX2 which is really fast
It had no issues with lightroom (except that is now uninstalled as it does not do D800 raw.)
It had no issues with 7
I was very happy with 7 now I have nothing I can use all because Adobe wont upgrade old software for the D800 raw format.
Are there any other products that actually work that you can recommend for the D800 raw?

It is 64 bit and Memory is not an issue 8GB RAM - NX2 handles the files lightning fast.
I cannot believe this is a pc issue.
There is something afoot in the auto uploader for certain. Possibly also another file handling bug as interestingly I noted two broken file links to D800 files in the 2 mins I could use it for last time.
Regarding DNG - I dont agree with the Adobe policy of converting all RAW to one format with the DNG converter. I shoot raw and then only fully process a few files as a lot of the RAW is fine and just needs indexing for posterity. I do not wish to convert and save down all my files twice. Especially as the D800 raw is big and so is the corresponding DNG.
Fine on the post shooting processed ones but not on the whole lot.
So as a result of the workflow I use, using DNG would only allow my album to catalogue the DNG edited photos.
Am I alone in thinking this way is the most efficient for the end user? Am I right that Adobe is more concerned in what is efficient for them than the end user? Great for the disk manufacturers I guess!

  • Adobe freezes when clicking on print !

    Hi,
I have a very weird problem. When I go on "file" and "print" Adobe freezes during 30 seconds and then the printing setup appears which allows me to finnaly print the file. That problem happens also with Firefox. With all the other programs (excel, word, etc.) everything works fine. I have a samsung ml-2510 printer with the latest driver.
Can anyone help me out ?
    Thank you.

I assume you have virus protection and spyware protection. Try turning
them off and see if your problem disappears.

  • Adobe freezing on new computer?!

    Hi,
I recently bought a new computer for my video editing. Its an HP, p6340f with a Core 2 Quad Q8400 (Y) 2.66 GHz processor and an Intel G43 Express chipset. (Its Windows 7)  My boss installed Adobe Premeire Pro CS4 on my computer and it keeps on freezing. I literally can work for about 1 minute before the program freezes and shuts down. I have tried turning off my anti-virus but it has not helped. Does anyone know why this may be happening? I am going crazy!
    Thanks!

  • Adobe freezes opening certain PDF Files

    Hi!
We have a problem with the new Version Adobe Reader 9. When you open certain pdf files by double clicking them in Windows Explorer, Adobe Reader 9 Window opens and then freezes at 100% CPU load.
    Other pdf files are OK.
Open Adobe Reader first and then choose File - Open works too.
Common thing of both pdf files is that they were created out of Winword printing it against a pdf printer called "pdf x-change".
Open the file with Version 8 or Foxit Reader works.
    Any hints?

Sorry, no solution - i can not force everybody in the world to use adobe acrobat. Another customer had exactly the same problem with another pdf that was created by someone else

  • Adobe freezing my computer

I have adobe reader 10.1 etc version. When I try to download pdf online it doesn't allow me to and freezes the computer, offline it opens the document but the document then freezes and one cannot scroll down. This issue started around 4 mths back. No problems before then. Itried uninstalling and then reinstalling but this did not help

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you may download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Adobe freezing virtual desktop session

We have classrooms with Windows 7 Virtual desktops running on Xendesktop. When a student has multople adobe documents opan and attempts a search, it freezes the sessoin. I then have to forcably reboot virtual desktop in order to release the session.

    Hi,
Seems this is not the possible scenario for deployment, we need to have Session based deployment as both virtual desktop session and session based deployment differs from other.
    Thanks.

  • Can't print - lots of Adobe freezes

I've been getting freezes on Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and PS. Now I can't print on my Xerox Phaser 7400. I've tried re-installing the driver. I can print with other programs

We have an GIS application from which we print data(vector and raster)  to PDF.
Vector - Lines, Polygons, Points, Text. . ..  etc
    Raster -Images
Customer requirement is to print the data to PDF with 1200 DPI.
Initially we taught this is the problem with our application and after analysing the issue we found problem is with Adobe PDF printer driver (simple workflow to reproduce issue is print the Content of notepad)

  • Adobe freezing?

I am trying to use my adobe photoshop starter edition 3.0 which I use regularly, but for some reason I cannot open it.  It keeps freezing before it opens.  Can you please help me?
    Thank you.

i have several suggestions. i have used captivate for at
least 3 years and found there to be many bugs in the software that
    Adobe doesn't tell you about.
    1. disconnect from your network. there are many things going
on behind the scenes on your network that impact captivate
    development.
    2. if you have used any transparent text boxes, change them
to any other text box besides transparent. even though adobe
doesn't tell you, transparent text boxes drag down the application
    big time.
    3. close any and all microsoft programs. word and outlook run
in the background all the time and eat up tons of RAM. Do a control
    - alt - delete and select task manager. you'll have to manually
close down those applications because they run all the time.
let me know if that works. i have more suggestions if you
    need them.

  • Adobe freezes up in Windows 7

When loading a cd file of adobe (it is a tech manual), adobe will try to start, but freezes up.  This cd will run fine in Windows XP.

That was the problem.  I copied the disc to a stick on my other computer and loaded it on to the desktop of my Windows 7 machine and it works fine.  Now I will have to investigate what is wrong with the drive.  Thanks

  • Adobe freezes up saving to server.

Why does any version of Adobe Creative suite freeze when saving to server for just one user? I can login as myself, admin or another user and it works fine. I can even safe to the desktop with the user but not to the server. BUT let me go further....it actually saves to the server. What happens is when you save as to the server (anywhere) it starts the spinning beach ball and freezes. When you try to force quit the whole system locks up. Tried to repair permissions, tried making user an admin and still nothing.
    Any ideas?

  • Adobe freezes when connected to Sonicwall

Adobe reader XI hangs when I am connected to a sonicwall VPN connection. Note that I am not opening the reader on the remote desktop. I am doing it on my Home PC. However, if I disable my sonicwall connection, then the adobe reader opens instantly. Else, the tools tab on the right side hangs and I am not able to open the pdf. Please help immediately

Adobe Reader is trying to Access Acrobat.com service and trying to connect other online services. So once you are behind the firewall it takes time and might crashing because of the similar reasons.
How did you install Reader XI, How many machines you are facing issue with.

  • Adobe Freezing (Yes another thread).

    Hi,
First off let me say I'm a Software Developer and that malarkey about temporary files causing Reader to freeze is a load of cobblers.
If I open Acrobat Reader on my home PC, work PC or laptop it freezes about 30-60 seconds after opening. It doesn't matter if I open a file from Windows Explorer, by clicking a link in IE or FireFox or even if I just open the Reader application itself from the Start Menu with no file loaded. The latter being a very obvious indicator this is not file related.
When it freezes, it freezes for about 30-60 seconds AND CPU usage stays between 02 and 10. This is not the pattern of an application creating or dealing with temporary files, especially seeing as there are none.
    C:\>del acr*.tmp /s
    Could Not Find C:\acr*.tmp
    D:\>del acr*.tmp /s
    Could Not Find D:\acr*.tmp
What I would like is a proper explanation or some ideas as to how I can prevent it. Ever since I installed Reader back in the 90's this has been an issue and I cannot believe a reputable software house can still be hauling such a ridiculous, annoying and very simple issue. I think you should aim to fix this bug instead of adding new 'features', you might claw back some of your users from the likes of Foxit.

Hello all. I have been reading about the whine issue
and I have this. I know that some people say that
they dont have it and good for you. I would like to
know everyone who has had it what you do to get rid
of it. I have done the mirror widget after I figured
out the photobooth trick but whenever my computer
goes to sleep and I open it back up the whine is
back. We all know that some poeople may not have it
or cant hear it thats great for them but for those of
us that do have it I would like to know what you have
    done to cope with it.
    Check my thread out:

You need a logic board replacement if the Widget works to stop the noise.

  • Adobe "Freezes" when you select print.

I currently have a Citrix installation of Adobe Standard XI on windows 7
the protected view has been turned off
I can get adobe to print only on 2 of the 5 servers, with one allowing printing at random times.
If I log into each server with my administrative account, adobe functions properly.
Not sure what the issue is.  We've replaced users profiles, adjusted adobe's setting and nothing is correcting the issue.
Additionally, adobe will not open files form the server C: or H: drives  but will from other locally mapped drives
    Thanks
    Eric G.

  • Last week I downloaded firefox 4. I began to have my programs (firefox, outlook, adobe) freeze up and crash although they don't show up on the crash report.

I have uninstalled and re-installed. I ran a reg check with spybot. I disabled add-ons. I tried a restore but it dose not complete.
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

  • Trying to print freezes adobe acrobat 9 pro

The user had 6.0 pro when you click on print or print setup adobe freezes for 3-4 min then it would come up and print.  I did (I thought I did) a complete uninstall and installed 9.0 pro but the problem still exsists.  Thanks for any responses.

I have the same damn problem.  Win 7, latest u
pdates, Acrobat Standard 9 latest updates, lots of ram, etc.  Never a problem before w/Acrobat freezing when I
select it as a printer.  I suspect this is adobe issue despite your requests
    for specs on the computer.
