Adobe 3.0.1 BUGFIX PATCH is released

Okay, something that a lot of you have waited for for quite a while, and some simply didn't believe would ever happen...
You can get it
here. Quite a lot of small things have been attended to, and quite a few of us haven't managed to crash it at all, despite trying quite hard!

The changes in Adobe Audition 3.0.1 are as follows:
Spectral tools no longer crash machines with more than four CPU cores.
The Graphic Phase Shifter effect has been reenabled.
Performance while recording MIDI data has been improved.
The Sequencer will now record MIDI data even if the panel is closed.
Adobe Audition will now launch on Windows Vista® systems where the My Documents folder was moved from the default location.
The application will now ignore Windows "Locale" settings to format decimal data in comma-delimited XML settings files.
A Healing Brush crash issue has been addressed.
Crossfades are no longer incorrectly added to grouped clips when overlapped with non-grouped clips.
Invalid crossfades will no longer be added to the end of a previously trimmed clip after enabling or disabling looping.
Invalid crossfades for clips after enabling non-session tempo-based looping have been addressed.
Dragging crossfaded clips onto the master track no longer creates two additional tracks and an error in the crossfades.
Inserting MIDI from the Files panel would cause the application to hang in Edit mode for an audio file whose sample rate didn't match the session.
Several scenarios where crossfade changes could corrupt a session were addressed.
Closing a session without exiting the rewire app no longer causes Adobe Audition to save a blank session.
Undo no longer becomes disabled after undoing the creation of unique copies of two crossfaded clips.
Crossfaded clips no longer disappear after undoing move clips.
Canceling VST scan no longer causes Adobe Audition to become unstable.
If a selection existed, a full session mixdown would only process MIDI data through the end of the selection.
The Open MIDI dialog box was not completely modal and could cause a crash.
MIDI Host had problems with some Spectrasonics VSTi instruments, where it wouldn't show the entire UI.
CD burning would sometimes create a corrupted disk but still report a successful burn.
Applying the Clip/Pop Eliminator no longer crashes the application.
Crash recovery is now more reliable when using Auto-Save For Recovery.
When the application detects the possible saving failure that causes a corrupted session, a warning dialog box now appears so users can retry the save.
Transport controls are no longer disabled if a new session is opened without closing the existing session.
Crossfades will now retain their original shape when clips are moved and the session is reopened.

HAS A PATCH BEEN RELEASED

Hello out there:
We are looking at purchasing CS4 for our office, but we've
learned from the past NEVER purchase a fresh-release from Adobe. As
a rule of thumb - we ALWAYS wait until at least 1 major patch has
been released. With the advent of the download manager, tracking
major patches has been a bit more splotchy - so now I ask others.
Has a major patch been released for CS4 as of yet? Also, we
want to get as MANY opinions about it from others.
Here are some of our primary concerns:
FTP client - I had the better, it was significantly faster
than in previous versions - is this still true? Also, does anyone
use it while using a VPN? Does it work? When we use DW CS3's client
- we get so much lag and drag that we don't even bother with it.
However, we want to move our production process to be more linear
and I want a very dependable check in / check out feature that can
be used quickly while tunneling in a VPN.
We also want to know of any other major issues with InDesign,
Photoshop, and Flash others may be having.

I agree that CS3 was painfully slow when using VPN and I quit
using it for
this reason.
I don't use CS4 with VPN (my license is for a different OS)
so I can't tell
you if this has improved, but I can tell you that CS4 is a
*true* upgrade.
It made me use Dreamweaver again.

How do I make sure Adobe Reader has been correctly patched?

Before Patching
Adobe Reader version 9.3.0 installed through GPO has been running on WinXP Pro SP3 without a problem for months
Patching Method
I copied the following files to local C:\V932 folder:
AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi (original v9.3 MSI installation file)
AdbeRdrUpd932_all_incr.msp (the downloaded patch file released in April 2010)
then I used the following command:
msiexec /a AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd932_all_incr.msp
The Result
- AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi file gets updated to the date and time the above command was executed
- 4 new folders created (Common, CommonAppData, Program Files and Windows)
I then created a new shared folder (\\servername\AdbeRdr932) on the server and copied the whole content of C:\V932 to that shared folder. After that, I created a new GPO package to upgrade version 9.3.0
Rebooted my Windows XP Pro machine and the upgrade went successfully. When I check Help - About, it shows that I have 9.3.2
Here's the problem:
When I compare Adobe related files in the following folders, some files do not match:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader
and
\\servername\AdbeRdr932\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader
For example:
Properties of AcroRd32.exe in C drive shows File version 9.3.0.148
Properties of AcroRd32.exe in the shared folder shows File version 9.3.2.163
There are some other files (DLL, EXE) that do not match. The files in C: drive is older than those on the shared network folder. Now I'm not sure what to trust, the version info shown in Adobe Reader Help - About or the file version info.
To those who deploy Adobe Reader version 9.3.2 through GPO, do you see the same problem?

These two statements tell the whole story.
Try out one thing - Go to help-->About .. I know you have done this and on this splash screen it shows 9.3.2....that's fine
                 Now take the mouse pointer to the position on splash screen where 9.3.2 is written and click
After clicking you will see a different version string. I bet now you will see 9.3.0.148.
This is what is happening behind the scenes:
Initial version 9.3.2 is picked from a registry entry
But when you click on the splash screen the version is picked from the AcroRd32.dll
Unfortunately there is no straight way to make out whether Reader has been correctly patched or not because sometimes version in splashscreen is expected to change after click (if changes are going only in files other than AcroRd32.dll)
In your case the installation of Reader 9.3.2 is corrupt because the way you are creating an AIP is wrong.
Follow these steps to create an AIP and then deploy it via GPO:
Perform administrative installation
1. Copy the Reader 9.3 msi installer to your machine.
2. Create a distribution point (a folder where the installer can install the uncompressed
program files).
3. Click Start, click Run, and then enter the following command:
  msiexec /a <path of Reader9.3.msi>
4. When you receive a prompt asking where to install the files, browse to the distribution point
you created in step 2.
5. Click OK. When the installer finishes, all files will be at the distribution point.
Also AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi is also present at the distribution point.(This msi is used in step 7 below)
To add patches to the administrative installation:6. Copy the Reader 9.3.2 msp patch on your machine.
7. Click Start, then click Run, and then type CMD.
At the command prompt, type the following:
msiexec /a <path of msi at distribution point> /p <path of Reader 9.3.2.msp>
After installation is successfull you can copy this folder (distribution point) to any server and create GPO package.
So it's a two step process.
You were trying to do this in one step! and this is where you were going wrong.

Please try using the Cleaner tool ( Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 ) to uninstall the files completely.

Recommended patch cluster release

Hello,
How often is the Recommended Patch cluster released?
A Couple of years ago, i was told at a Sun event during a session, that changes has been made en the way patch cluster was created, and that the patch clusters was created 4 times a year, to make it more streamlike, instead of creating patchclusters once in a while, when enough patches has been created. I need to know if it still works the way, that patch cluster are created 4 times a year, it is to be used with patch procedures and recommendations.

Recommended patch sets are and to the best of my knowledge have always been regenerated twice a month.
I think your thinking of maintenance releases. When they generate a new CD image which can be used to do an upgrade install.
They try to generate those every 6 months, but the schedule often slips.
The two most recent were sol10 11/06 and sol10 8/07.

Adobe Reader 9.3.3 patch issue

Thus far I have been completely unable to install the Adobe Reader 9.3.3 update on my Win7 Pro x86 machines. Has anyone successfully pushed this update bundle to Windows 7 as of yet?
The Adobe Reader 9.3.2 patch came down from patch management with no issues for a couple of months with no issues and have been using in my environment ever since. Got around to deploying 9.3.3 and can't get it to go at all.

Thank you for replying, I appreciate it. Every couple of days I just keep checking patch management to see maybe an udpates 9.3.3 package. As it is right now the 9.3.3 Reader update is completely non-functional for me. Yes, even after pressing the magic button and starting from scratch.
I've also been having some issues with patch management as well lately. My other big issue is the latest Flash update sometimes (randomly) uninstalls flash but never ever reinstalls it. Having to manually re-install Flash because the automatic method we are implementing to update Flash uninstalled the product is.... embarassing.
I'm currently very happy that I use WSUS for my MS updates, there is no way I could deal with this kind of occasional broken-ness for OS updates.

Error applying Adobe Reader 11.0.07 patch - "Error 2762. Cannot write script record. Transaction not started"

I have a problem applying the "adobe reader 11.0.07" patch. I have downloaded "AdbeRdrUpd11007_MUI.msp" from Adobe site and tried applying the patch using the command.
The following error is prompted
"Error 2762. Cannot write script record. Transaction not started" at the end of installation, But the version is updated to "11.0.07" in ARP.
This error is mainly related to custom action sequence in "Execute sequence".
I have created logfile and checked. it points to the custom action - "CreateAcroPDFRegForIE11".
Could someone help me resolve this issue?

     package is for SCCM and the Installation is carried through msi . AIP
2) Which version of Reader MUI do you have installed curently?
     Adobe Reader 11.0.05
3) Which command did you use to run the patch?
     msiexec /p AdbeRdrUpd11007_MUI.msp
4) Did you run the patch from an elevated command prompt?
     Yes
5) Which OS version are you at?

I've 2 nodes with version 9.2.0.1
I applied a Patch Set Release 2 (9.2.0.8) Patch Set 7 for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) on the Node 2,
All is fine but when i try to discover N2 from N1 with OMS, i get only the HTTP Servers, and no database discovred,
For your information, I've 2 databases on N2
Please help me to resolve this probleme because i need to schedule some jobs.

Check where you installed the 9.2.0.8 patch, in the database home or Enterprise Manager Agent's home?
Check the compatibility between the versions of agent, database and OEM.
Try to reinstall the (correct version) agent again in Node 1.
If you have 2 database on Node 2, if they both uses the same Oracle database version and same home, you need to install the patch only once, but got to run the upgrade and catpatch.sql seperately in each databases.

I also facing the same issue with Adobe reader 9.5.4 version update.
Previous Version installed: 9.5.3
AcroRd32.exe - File Version 9.5.3.305
AcroRd32.dll - File version 9.5.3.305
After update installation to 9.5.4, add or remove program shows latest version but exe and dll is not updated. Vulnerability assessment tools based on file version check identifies patch is still missing. Becomes a HEAD ACHE.
Adobe Reader 9 > Help > About Adobe Reader 9 - First shows version 9.5.4, if your click on it instead of showing AGM version next it shows version 9.5.3.305.
I tested for all previous versions of 9x, works fine in each update. Seems like patch is missing codes for updating file versions.

Adobe Pro 11.0.10 patch has expired code signing cert

I can not patch my Adobe 11.0.0 installation to 11.0.10 using the automated process.
I manually downloaded 11.0.10 from this location: http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.10/misc/AcrobatUpd11010.msp
The MD5 of this MSP per my own check is 4cb5979f49bc5112731da0cce036ac66, while the SHA1 is 8b4130df183f69ab77f9f6748f2e535be5d3336e.
This download is signed with a code signing certificate issued by Symantec Class 3 Extended Validation Code Signing CA. The signature has a thumbprint of 111aa9b0c6da43594bb2ad3052567c12ef8d9607. This certificate expires later this year.
During the install I receive an error because it extracts a file to c:\config.msi which is code signed with a code signing certificate issued by Verisign Class 3 Code Signing 2010 CA. The certificate has a thumbprint of 70d566df844f3e2d9ac31e518256e7b6f2de9272. The certificate expired 9/20/2013. Today is 5/4/2015. The install fails on this file.
The certificate thumbprint for the Verisign Class 3 Code Signing 2010 CA intermediate authority is 495847a93187cfb8c71f840cb7b41497ad95c64f.   This itself is signed by VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5 having a thumbprint of 4eb6d578499b1ccf5f581ead56be3d9b6744a5e5.
The failing file with the invalid code signing certificate has an MD5 checksum of bddf785233f9d2b3ae43d72822fb74bc and SHA1 of 78e7e15c8baea3c6befc7336d153254777912bd4. This appears to be amtlib.dll which is part of Adobe AMT Licensing.   These hashes are available on services such as Virus Total and Herd Protect.
Would it be possible for Adobe to release a 11.0.11 patch that has this issue fixed?

Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
From the application's menu bar, select
File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 patch planned?

Can anyone give a statement whether Adobe plans to release an incremental patch to 8.1.2 instead of the full installer? For Adobe Acrobat 8 they offer one. I would prefer to not deploy a full package for each security fix.

Not to make excuses or anything but, it's more than a security patch.
