Adobe 6.0 upgrading to X1 impossible !

As I got fed up of being unable to use Reader, I dedcided today I m doing it. I will download the newest version there is ! I went to a succesful installation but whenever I open a PDF file, that old 6.0 is coming up. After multiple failed attempts, I investigated my PC to make sure I meet system requirements; running xp pro sp3, windows explorer 8 (or latest of mozilla... depends on my mood), i htought I did but opted for uninstalling my old disfunctiojnnal 6.0 first...
...uninstalling 6.0.1 adobe. FAIL
I searched for answers in different forums but after trying this and that and manually deleting all files and subfolders (except those restricted) changing accessibility, cached bla bla.... I know i know FAIL but I am now out of ressources and considering using the desktop tower as an extra seat cuz I canèt afford new one.
Tell me... is there hope ?

Even thought I am positive the instal of XI was succesfull, (and there was message stating is better to remove old version and repair new version should it no work properly) The is no trace of adobe reader XI but the 6.0.1 remains there. Now when I do click on it, it prepare to install... then I end up with a message :'' Problème de raccourci; Impossible d'ouvrir ce package correctif. Vérifiez que le package correctif existe et que vous pouvez y accéder, ou contactez le revendeur de l'application afin de vérifier que c'est un package correctif Windows Installer valide. I dunno if you understand french... but it looks like this it is impossible to open this service pack, to verify that it exist and that it is accessible or contact seller to verify that it is a valid Windows Installer service pack.
I did find out that I was able to save the files (I suppose more simple pdf forms) and open with Internet Explorer but nowadays, Only a few of them are simple enough for me to open. I can t even install a plug in for mozila...

I visit Youtube website though Firefox however the website always shows that my Adobe Flash need an upgrade. But, my Adobe Flash was already the latest one. I try to visit the website with another browser and Youtube didn't show my Adobe Flash need upgrade anymore. What happened?

Yes.
The only difference is the installation method and the ownership verification. The program still is installed on and runs from your local machine. You only have to hook up to the internet every 60-90 days to verify ownership.

Cannot download new adobe flash player upgrade

I just tried to download the newest Adobe Flash Player Upgrade by going to the Adobe website. The Adobe Flash Player Installer appeared in my downloads file. But when I double click it I get a Mac warning window opens that says "Can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store." When I go to the Mac App store and search for Adobe Flash Player, it doesn't exist there. How do I get it or is there another way to be able to watch video on the internet especially from sites like you tube and vimeo, but also sometimes on other sites. Do I have to keep the older version indefinitly and risk not getting security updates?

My understanding is that you are referring to the claiming for the free upgrade in Volume Licensing purchase. Usually the coupon code will be active only for 180 days from the date of email sent to you. If the email is sent within 180 days, then as Nikhil suggested above, please contact Adobe Support.

But we like to install it again and update it to cs6.
How to do it without finding the cs4 dvd or anything online but avoid this issue?

Probably best to ask in the CS forum. If you still have the software keys for CS4, then upgrading to CS6 should work, but you need to check the upgrade policy on the Adobe Store to be sure. Generally you only need the software key to do the upgrade. If you do not have the key, then you may be up a creek unless you registered (as you should). If you registered, Adobe can likely help on getting you the keys needed for the upgrade. I suggest you confirm this in the CS forum.

Adobe Reader version upgrades

Is it possible to be notified of upcoming Adobe Reader version upgrades? If so, how?

Adobe has not announced the day the sofware will become available. I do not know of a place you can sign up to receive a notification. It is not a terrible idea to wait after it is available to make sure no issues arise. If you come back on Holloween, you can be sure it will be available for download.
