Adobe 7.0 and reader 9.0

I am new and need help. I have adobe 7.0 professional and I have recently upgraded to adobe 9.0 reader. I can not save pdf files. I no longer have the diskette to click on and save a pdf file.

Can I unistall the Adobe 9.0 and go back to the earlier version I was using without problems. How would I get the earlier version? If I have Adobe Writer should that not already have the reader on it?  Thanks for your help.
You could get an earlier version but that wouldn't make a difference. According to Adobe, you shouldn't have both products (regardless of version #'s) installed at once.
Adobe Writer (commonly known as Acrobat) has the veiwer as well.

  • How to Disable the Adobe Flash Player and Reader Updates

Ok, For the last two months or so, I have been plagued by the Adobe Flash Player and Reader updater that will not go away. That's not the worst thing though: Somehow, someway, the Adobe updater subverts my entire windows 7 machine and makes itself the most important program on my system, stopping all other necessary functions. After I just turn it on, the updater will suspend all Windows operations in favor of the updater getting its message out the Adobe "needs" updating. I have tried updating the stupid thing, only to find that after the update goes in, my whole computer locks up and I have to load a system restore point. This thing acts like a virus, and until someone comes up with a way to make it work properly, that's what I'm calling: Adobe creates and sells a computer killing virus. I want a sure fire way to disable the updater that will work, and that will never bug me again about updating the virus. After going through three different computer repair companies, many online forums and chat rooms and my own knowledge of how to disable programs, I have instructed my firewall to block all attempts by Adobe to update. This has to stop.

  • Adobe Acrobat X and Reader XI

    Hello,
Can Adobe Acrobat X (pro) and Reader XI installed at the same time?
I'm asking this because I need Acrobat to create PDF files, but I want to read PDF files in the latest version of Reader.
Won't it damage the installation of Acrobat or Reader?
    Thanks.

It's pretty easy to assign the default program used to open a file type:

  • Printing problem from Adobe Acrobat 8 and Reader 9

    Hello together,
i've got a problem while printing from Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 and Acrobat Reader 9.
I've got the Error: /usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstoraster failed
It happens with my new Canon ip4700 and my brother laser printer.
I got the newest available Version of OSX and the Adobe Updates.
The PDF files are printed in the "OSX Preview", but not in the Adobe Software
Happy for any help or advice.
    Best,
    Lukasz

Acrobat 8 and Reader 9 are not compatible. The only versions of Reader and Acrobat designed to be compatible with each other in Windows is Reader and Acrobat X.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro and Reader Freeze

Everytime I open Adobe Acrobat Pro or Reader I am unabe to open the preferences menu.  Program freezes up.  Also when I hit print the program also freezes.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no success.

Which version (and sub-version)? Why do you have both Reader and Acrobat installed? Before AAX this was not a recommended combination at all.
You should be able to delete the Reader and repair Acrobat. If you do not have the most current version of Acrobat, you should do an update(s). If you uninstall and reinstall again, before the reinstall, deleted any left over parts of the Acrobat folder and run a registry cleanup utility (the MS one if you can get it -- MS quit distributing it -- or CCleaner). Then reinstall. Typically the repair and the updates should take care of things unless you have gotten a corrupt plug-in included somehow.

  • Adobe flash player and reading pdf files.

I've recently been having issues with Safari reading online pdf files and loading up sites using adobe flash player.
I've somehow tracked down a temporary solve by going into Safari's "preferences", then the security tab.
Where it shows "internet plug-ins" I have it checked so it can load adobe flash. But when it comes to reading pdf files (adobe reader)
I have to uncheck "internet plug ins". So in turn I can read the pdfs, but not use adobe flash player.
There seems to be a conflict between the adobe reader and flash player that I can use both at the same time.
Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?
Here's a screenshot of what I have. And if I have to delete one of these plug-ins how can I do this as I don't see any options to do so.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Help -- Adobe 6 Pro and Reader 9 are fighting

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro Ver. 6.  I also have Adobe Reader Ver 9.  Each one works fine independently.  But when I go to a website like irs.gov and try to download a form, Adobe Ver 6 pops up and I get an error message that I need to download Version 8 or 9 (WHICH I HAVE ALREADY DONE!!!!!)
When I have the option to download a form rather than read it on screen, there are no problems. But when the web page looks for Adone Reader it finds version 6 rather than 9.
I hate to take Version 6 off the computer because I use it to merge PDF files when necessary, but I guess I can if that is absolutely the only way around the problem.

You've found a common problem and one of the many reasons it's not recommended or supported to have these two applications on the same computer. The popular advice around here is to remove the one you don't want and leave the other. After removing one you may have to do a repair or reinstall of the other since it may get broken.

  • Adobe Flash Player and Reader

Any advice on what to do about these two items? Should I just trash the current versions until the fixes are available rather than risk hacker problems? Are there viable alternatives to these two products?

    No...this one...

....that link will initiate the download...
...again you need to weigh the risk of hackers versus pre-release software....be careful and have your system backed up....in case....

  • Adobe Lifecycle Designer and reader

I am using Adobe Lifecycle Designer ES 8.2 to design online forms.  The version of Adobe Reader at the company is 8.  When a user fills out the form using Adobe Reader 8, the user is unable to safe the form in Adobe Reader 8.  Subsequently, the user cannot attach the form via email.  The user receives a message in Adobe Reader that he/she can only save a blank version of the form, not a form filled with data.  Is there a workaround for this?

Did you enable the form for Reader users to be able to save (that's an extra step after building the form)?
I'm not sure where it is in Designer but in Acrobat it's under Advanced>Extend features in Adobe Reader...
One thing to keep in mind (since you mentioned you are using this for a company) is that there are limitations in the EULA that prevent you from collecting data from a form more than 500 times. More than that could put your company at risk.
It may not be a big deal for your use but it's worth looking in to if you are going to use saveable forms.

  • Adobe Flash and Reader Confusion

Greetings, should Adobe Flash Player and Reader (used in Safari and Preview) be updated manually or are these app's updated via Safari updates from Apple? The Player and Reader applications are not installed but I view some Flash clips via Safari. I use Preview as a PDF viewer, but do these require Adobe security/patch updates be manually applied or are these updated via Snow Leopords' Software Update link? Thank you and regards.

Adobe are being very slow to update their applications, including Flash Player, for Lion:

  • I need information on how Adobe Drive works and how to set it up

    Hey folks,
believe it or not, but I have been searching a lot on the web already on how to find information how Adobe Drive works and how to set it up.
Most information that I found is old and seems to be valid only for older versions of Creative suite. Here in the company we use CS5.5 and will switch to CS6 soon.
I already downloaded Adobe Drive 3 and installed it on my Mac. Unfortunately I don't know what to do next? Do I need Adobe CQ to make it work? Or can I use it with an existing SVN infrastructure, that we have here? Actually I would like to access the SVN via Adobe Bridge. But after the installation of Adobe Drive my Bridge CS5.5 is crashing while starting up, and I didn't find out how to fix this again.
Actually I just found the manual for Adobe Drive 3 and read it. Seems to be easy in case its working. But it's not in my case, as mentioned above.
Any idea what could be the problem?

    Thanks,
in the meantime I managed to re-setup Adobe Drive 3 again. Bridge CS5.1 is still crashing (i have a log-file with a detailed error-report, if somebody knows how to extract information from this.
At least now I can start Drive as a standalone application.
So now my main question is how to connect Drive 3 to our subversion infrastructure in the company. Does anybody have information on this?

  • Adobe flash player and labview

    Hi
How can I make labview interact with adobe flash player and read variables?
Adobe flash player is displayed by internet explorer and I'm using Adobe Flash player 10, with labview 8.2

I have not checked this out as I leave the Googling to you. But I will not be suprised if adobe do not have an activex player you can use for free.
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

Hi.  I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader,  It worked yesterday.  Today I have job training to do that is due tomorrow morning and I can't open PDF files.  I have to open a guide and read it and take a test tomorrow.  I have deleted and reinstalled the application.  I have rebooted.  I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program.  Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message.  It simply says Attempt to access invalid address.  How can I fix this?  Thanks.

    Hi Don,
I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.
    Regards,
    Rave

I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
== When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.
