Adobe 8.1.0.137 freezes.

Hi.
I have recentnly installed a computer with Windows XP.
After instaling our version of of Adobe 8.1.0.137, Adobe starts but I'm not able to close down to welcomscreen, but the Adobe freeses.
In event viewer, the following error message occures:
Hanging application Acrobat.exe, version 8.1.0.137, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000
I have run repair of Adobe.
Unistalled and re-installed but the problem presists.
This is the first time I'm experience this problem.

Not even the last 8.x version 8.3.1?
In that case, if I were in your situation, I would try to debug it.  Freezing usually indicates waiting for a resource that is not available.  Tools like Process Monitor can possibly help you to find what is going on.  But the output can be huge, even if you filter only the process that you are watching.
P.S. re-reading your original post I now noticed that you are talking about Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.  This is the Adobe Reader forum, so it's very confusing if you ask about a problem with another product.

  • Adobe Premiere CS5 and CS6 freeze my computer

    I recently built myself a new computer and installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on it:
    COOLER MASTER HAF 932 case
    Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz CPU
    Noctua NH-D14 CPU Fan
    32GB of DDR3 G.Skill 12800 RAM
    128GB Crucial M4 SSD HDD (as the C drive)
    3 2TB Seagate HDD's RAID 5 (software is up to date)
    Antec HCG-900 900 watt PSU
    EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 480 video card
    Bluray/DVD drive
    All of the parts are brand new. The problem is that I installed the Adobe CS6 Master Collection and every time I try to use Premiere (on any new or old projects) and make any video edits - the entire computer freezes. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes it takes nearly an hour of video playback and/or editing to freeze. I am going crazy trying to figure out what is going wrong. I do not get any bluescreen errors or anything in the Event Viewer (other than a notice saying the computer shut down improperly due to the fact that I had to hold in the power button). The odd thing is that it seems to work in Safe Mode every time, thus making me think it's a software issue. The other strange thing is that I've left Premiere open all day and night and the computer would not freeze - it only seems to happen when I'm making edits or playing back video.
    What I have tried thus far:
    Reinstalling Windows (with no antivirus or extra programs)
    Updated Adobe Premiere CS6 (I also tried CS5)
    Installing Windows Updates
    Windows Memory Diagnostic (no errors found)
    Updating all drivers
    Alternate video card (GTX 460)
    Installed a PCI sound card and disabled onboard sound
    I tried maxing out the CPU (very difficult to do) with other programs besides Premiere - no freezing
    Installed Core Temp to monitor CPU temperature - it never got above 65 degrees and was generally in the 45-50 degree range, so I'm sure it's not overheating
    Tried only one 8GB stick of RAM to see if maybe it was memory - it still froze
    I may have tried a couple other things, but that's all I can remember for now. Needless to say, this is a problem I've never even heard of. My only other thought is to try a different hard drive and/or PSU. Any ideas?

    I noticed one other member had the same problem (still unresolved as of April) and they had the same video card and SSD drive I do. However, they, like me, changed their video card and it made no difference...

    Safe Mode disables a lot of drivers and services, like networking.  That would seem to indicate that something is running on your system that interferes somehow.
    I'm just not sure how you'd go about tracking that down.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5 freezes when printing to Amyuni Document Converter

    We have two computers that have Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5 installed. Adobe itself seems to work just fine. However, there are two other pieces of software installed on the computer that use the Amyuni Document Converter 400 to convert or save files as a PDF. They have no problems right clicking on a file and using the "send to" feature in Windows to save a file into the application. However, when they open a PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5 and click File-> Save As and then select the program (example: eFileCabinet) that uses the document converter, Acrobat freezes and they have to use task manager to end the process. They are using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with plenty of memory and CPU resources. The event log clearly shows Adobe Acrobat hanging. What, if anything, can we do? Any suggestions outside upgrading to the latest version of Acrobat? Have you seen anything like this?

    I can' see how I can attach a file to this message.  You can download a PDF which does this here: http://heim.ifi.uio.no/martingi/blur-crash.pdf The problem occurs only with certain PDF documents.  The problem seems to have to do with that drop shadow.

    I am having a problem with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, version 9.5.2.
    Whenever I open a PDF file, it frequently freezes and I am left

    PDF file opens nicely. However, when I also save any changes
    to a PDF file, it will also freeze and I am left with the twirling
    color circle. If I wait several minutes sometimes, the twirling
    will stop and the software returns to working. I have this
    problem regardless of the size of file being either read or
    modified.
    An IT friend has installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled
    Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro a couple of times in order to solve
    this problme and doing so does not changed anuything.
    My computer is a MacPro4,1. It  runs Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    (11G63). It has a 2 X 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor and 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 memory. The
    harddrive on which it is installed has 522 GB available.

    I would suggest you try applying the 9.5.3 update first to see if the behavior improves.
    If it doesn't, you may want to run a Disk Permissions repair from the Disk Utility.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.1 freezes

    I have not been able to get any help at all on the following issue:  I just installed MacOS X Yosemite on my MacBook Air 2011.  After installing Yosemite I installed the Photoshop Elements 12.1 upgrade, but now when I open the program and try to use the tools, the program freezes.  How do I fix this problem?
    After I go through all the list of suggested help items on your support page, at the end there is a notice posted that says:  "Still need help?  Contact us."  When I click on that link, it just takes me back to where I started.  Very frustrating!!!
    There doesn't seem to be any way to get official help for my problem.  Can someone please help me with this???

    I have had the same experience. I do know that there is a bluetooth issue and trackpads causing the crashing. I would like to know that if both Apple and Adobe won't fix the bug, what type of mouse do they recommend using that shares the same flexibility and abilities as the track pad but works with PSE 12. Also, I just purchased PSE 12 and don't want to buy the upgrade at full price. Will there be any discounts given to those who own 12? I know these comments are not entirely crash related but needed to include them.

    During some days, when we open adobe PDF the player freeze during some minutes.
    I try all I found on web in this forum :
    - Uncheck Protected Mode
    - Delete Verisign LDAP
    - Restart EULA.exe
    I precize than a firewall are present and filtering web and application (maybe we must insert a whitelist adobe URL).

    I update to Adobe 11.0.09, restart computer.
    At restart this always long each time I start the program.
    I go to preferences and disable "show me message ...", and again "protected mode" but it does not work better.
    It's strange I have exactly the same master in company and some computer working fine and another freeze at startup.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS5 MAC Freezes

    We all know that exporting files from Premier Pro into flv files (and some others takes some time).  An excellent way to work around this is to build up a queue of items in the Adobe Media Encoder. Then, you can run the queue when you are going to leave the computer for any length of time, say, overnight.
    I have Premier Pro CS5 and Media Encoder CS5 on a Mac and have just done all the various updates. Unfortunately, this does not solve my problem - if I have about 4 items in the queue, it works fine.  However, if I have, say 8 items in the queue, AME will freeze whilst working on about the 4th item.  This happens reasonably consistently and is very annoying - any suggestions how I can sort out this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    I am using a Macbook Pro with the i7 processor and 4 Gbyte of RAM, 7200 disk speed.

    Thank you ExactImage, if that is your real name.... I was able to reset AME 5.5 by holding down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys whilst starting the program. Your help is appreciated.

  • Adobe Premiere Keeps on Crashing/Freezing

    When I'm editing in Adobe Premiere using:
    iMac, 27-inch, late 2013
    OS 10.8.5
    3.5Ghz Intel i7
    8 GB 1600 MHZ DDR3
    NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780M 4096MB
    I encounter the following issues:
    I open up Premiere, Render my project - it freezes and crashes.  A hard reboot is the only solution.
    I will also encounter the spinning wheel of death/computer freezes while I'm editing a project.
    I barely have anything open.
    What can be the cause of this?  It's delaying my workload and causing huge issues with distribution.

    Uninstall Reader 9.4 and try the latest Adobe Reader X (10.0).
    If you still have problems, please state your operating system and version.

  • Adobe Design Premium 5.5 freezing on Mac 10.6.8

    I have had 2 different licensed copies (both legitamite copies) installed and both instances result in them freezing. The only messaging I get is by looking at my force quit menu where it shows "application not responding".
    I have performed all the latest Mac OS updates.
    Any suggestions? Happy to provide any other info if needed. Not sure yet where to find my crash reports.

    Well this information was not offered previously.  Your next step would be to check to see if there was a failure with the installation.  This will mean reviewing the install logs for each of your applications which are not functioning.  You can find details on how to accomplish this at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
    If the installation was successful then the next step would be to post in each of the products which are not functionings specific forum.

    Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Adobe camera raw 6.6 freezes when editing

    I have a pc, it freezes when switching from one photo to the next. This is a new occurrance and very annoying since I have to force close and start all over again. I process tons of action shots, and this is making it take forever. I have a newer computer with an excellent processor and lots of RAM. Like I said, it's a new development. Can anyone help?

    In my case, Canon EOS 7D, on Windows 7, 64bit with all the latest updates.  On an HP DV7 laptop with an Intel i5 and 8 gigs of ram.
    Photoshop is CS5 64bit from the Web Premium package.  I always shoot full res raw files in the adobe color space if that matters.
    I also went back and tried with some older files from my EOS 40D and EOS 10D, same thing.
    It always seems to be related to opening more than 10-12 files at a time in Camera Raw.  It will lock up when going from one file to the next by clicking on them in the left hand panel of camera raw window.  This is just doing normal editing operations, you don't have to double click or click real fast or anything special to get it to happen.
    The only way to fix it is to kill the Photoshop process in the windows Task Manager process list.  Then clear the Camera Raw cache before opening again or else camera raw will not read the file it locked up on previously.
    This has been happening very regularly since I updated to camera raw 6.6.
