Adobe 8 doesn't convert entire document

I have Adobe 8 with windows XP professional. I have an excel document which I have used for over a year as the basis for creating a PDF. It has always worked without a hitch. Tow days ago it started cutting off the bottom third of the one page document.
I tried creating the PDF as both a print job and with the adobe icon.
I tried clearing the print area- large excel file with only a one page output to generate, and resetting it to no affect.
The document prints correctly on all printers, and the print preview is correct. I do not believe excel is the problem here or it would happen on the printers.
What can it be?

Thanks for this, but I am using Office 2007 (forgot to mention sorry). At any rate, today I tried again and it is performing correctly. This is after I rebooted yesterday before posting a thread. It continued to be a problem after that reboot.
Of course a shut down overnight. Kind of feels like a short in a car- intermittent and impossible to find. Perhaps Adobe should look into this.

  • Adobe PDFMaker doesn't convert layers from Visio 2010

    I'm wondering if anybody else is seeing this behavior after converting to Visio 2010...
    I have a Visio cross-functional flowchart (CFF,) using "swimlanes."  My shapes in this flowchart are organized into various layers withinin Visio.  When I convert to .pdf, the pdf document displays the layers (along with the "eyeball" for selecting & deselecting layers,) but the layers do not "hide" when you deselect them.
    This problem occurs when using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 8,9, or X.  The problem occurs no matter which .pdf converter I use, and it makes no difference whether I initiate the conversion from within visio or externally.  The problem occurs in documents built from scratch in 2010, and in documents converted from version 2007.
    Interestingly, the problem only occurs when the Visio document is a CFF with swimlanes.  Without swimlanes, all layers can be properly hidden & unhidden in the .pdf.
    Can anybody out there successfully display&hide layers in their .pdf generated from a Visio 2010 CFF?  Thanks for any thoughts!  : - )

    I had the same problem today using Visio 2010 & Acrobat Pro X, but having used Vision layers before, I did the following:
    copied the shapes from the CFF without the frame onto a new blank vsd
    the layer properties transferred normally with them
    & discovered that:
    the layers could be exported to pdf using the Acrobat Create option (check the preferences first)
    all of the layer settings worked fine.
    I then transferred the CFF "frame" (with swimlanes) onto the new vsd
    the layers seemed to export ok
    NONE of the layer settings worked in the pdf.....
    The only workaround would be to manually create the frame with rectangles on the copied shapes....
    I added these to their own "swimlane" layer & the whole export & result worked fine.

  • Convert entire document to arabic style and layout

    Hello everybody!
    I'm currentyl working on a project where we need to convert a final document to a arabic version. We have all styles created and and the left-to-right settings on the text set correctyl. I have created a script that changes all the text content to the correct textcontent.
    My problem is the following: I can recreate the actions done when you run "Reverse layout" by script. I found the possibility to "flip" all page items by running pageItem.flipItem(Flip.HORIZONTAL, AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR).
    This dose not recreate the actions of the function "Reverse Layout". The textframes and the images boxes are flipped but the possitions of them are not flipped for example if a textframe is placed at the bottom left corner after I do a reverse the textframe is placed in the bottom right corner BUT when I do the flip the content is flipped but the textframe is still on the exact same place...
    I hope somebody understands what I mean: Here is my code if you want to try it first:
    var d = app.activeDocument;
    var pis = d.allPageItems;
    for(var i = 0; i < pis.length; i++){
         var pi = pis[i];
         if(pi instanceof Image){
              //we flip the rectangle not the image
         }else{
              pi.flipItem(Flip.HORIZONTAL,AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR);
    Oh yeah, you need to have the ME (middle east) version of InDesign to be able to run the "Reverse layout"-function.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Ruy Ramos

    Peter,
    The OP wants to change the order of the pages. To him the new order will not represent a confusing loop of the text string weaving backwards and forwards in the document. It will be as he wants.
    Adding Section Breaks, even without creating a keyboard shortcut for it, only will take a few minutes for 100 pages. Then one is free to reorganize using the Thumbnails. Eliminating the Section Breaks when they have served their purpose takes only a few seconds using Find and Replace.
    Any linked text boxes in PL mode will indeed create a serpentine text flow if Sections are shuffled.

    When I sign in to the Adobe Reader XI (which is the only option that I have to open a pdf document, I will sign in to the Adobe ID sign-in page. After I do this, the "Convert To" box goes "gray" and I am unable to convert the document I have selected.  It was working great for the first week that I used it, but now it doesn't give me the converting option.  I am very frustrated as I have done nothing to change anything, and I was thinking this was so great...now I am just pulling out my hair and do not have the option of calling anyone since no phone numbers are listed. I am VERY busy and do not have time to sit and wait over a half an hour to "chat", which I tried to do yesterday.  All I want to do is very simply, convert pdfs to Word.  I have paid for this and am not getting any help. I am not very savvy when it comes to Adobe this program and Adobe that program...I feel I am being scammed as I do not get simple answers for something that appeared was going to be simple. You can't even call customer service to talk to someone live to help walk you through.

    Hello Kathie,
    Sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
    Please let me know if you have tried converting any other PDF to word with Reader.
    Alos, please sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials. Click on 'ExportPDF' tab and upload the PDF that you want to convert to Word.
    Let me know if this converts fine.
    Hope to hear from you.

    Hi there, I currently subscribe to Adobe Pro Subscription (yearly) and I also subscribe to Adobe PDF pack (monthly).  I only require Adobe to read and create PDF documents such as converting word/excel document or a web based document.  Can someone tell me if I'm doubling up as I'm not sure of the differences between the products and would like to save a few dollars.

    Acrobat Pro can do a lot more than the PDF Pack online service.
    Try if you can do everything you need with PDF Pack; otherwise keep Acrobat Pro.

  • Convert scan document to adobe acrobat

    how do you covert a scanned document file to adobe acrobat

    Hi Anthony
    If you already have a scanned image, choose File > Create > PDF from File, and select the JPEG or other file you want to convert.
    Choose View > Tools > Text Recognition.
    Click the 'In This File' option in the Text Recognition panel that opens at the right.
    Designate desired pages and click OK. Acrobat automatically applies OCR to the scanned document or image.
    Use the OCR Suspects tool to search for and fix any misspellings.

  • What would be the best Adobe Product option for me if I only need it to be able to convert PDF documents to Excel Format?

    Hello, I'm hoping to pick everyone's brain about which Adobe Acrobat Product / License I would need if the only Function I require is the ability to convert PDF documents to Excel format. This would not include Scanned documents.

    Only you can decide what is a "best fit".
    PDF content export to Excel can be performed by Acrobat XI or either of Adobe's online subscription services "ExportPDF" or "PDF Pack".
    Be well...
