Adobe 9.0 Signature Problem !!

My current signature is an Adobe 8.0 *.apf file.  Adobe 9.0 requires an *.pfx.  What do I do??

An apf file is a container for a digital ID. A digital signature is something you create using a digital ID just like a wet ink signature is something you create using a pen.
When you created your digital ID it must have been in Acrobat 5 or earlier because Acrobat 6 through 8  could only import the digital ID from an apf file, not create one. Beginning with Acrobat 9 we dropped support for apf files altogether (neither create nor import). In Acrobat 6 and later if you created a self-signed digital ID it was either stored in a pfx file or the Windows Certificate Store. So, any digital ID that was created in Acrobat 4 or 5 and saved in an apf file would have long since expired. It is possible that you need the digital ID to open an encrypted file, but as far as using it for creating digital signatures it would be useless. This begs the question, for what use are you looking to use the digital ID contained in the apf file?

    These directions are specifically for windows 7 x64
    It may be hidden since it's a system folder. You can get to it one of two ways.
    Either: Hit start button + r to get run, then insert  (C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\) without the () and press enter. *This is assuming that your username is Administrator. If the folder exists it will take you there, even if it is hidden.
    Other way: hit start button on keyboard and type in "folder options". Press enter when it shows up in the start menu search. Click on the View tab then select "Show hidden files, folders, or drives" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".  This should enable you to see both the AppData and Roaming folder. You may want to undo these selections otherwise you'll see files you usually don't want to see. (thumbnail caches...)
    If neither of these methods work, let me know which folders you see in this directory "C:\Users", Administrator may not the account you're currently running on.

    we are currently using CIC sign it software Plugin in our Adobe documents for signature.
    Currently we are upgrading the reader to Adobe X.
    and there comes the problem. CIC sign IT plugin in not compatiable to this version of reader.
    My question is, Are ther any other Signature tools/plugin, that will capture the signature from (tablet PC) and load as image in the signature field.

    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
    Launch Acrobat  in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

    What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 installed?
    How far into the opening of the program do you get? Do you get to the Expert or Quick workspaces?
    And, if so, how long can you stay there? What are you doing when you get this message, opening a new project
    or opening an existing one that has been saved/closed or just trying to launch the program from the desktop icon.
    Are you running the program Run As Administrator and from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    Do you have the McAfee antivirus program? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
    with Premiere Elements 12?
    What video card/graphics card does your computer use? Have you verified at the web site of the manufacturer of the
    card that the video card/graphics card driver is up to date?
    If you do not know, check the Device Manager/Display
    Adapters to determine if you have 1 or 2 cards.
    Depending on your answers, the next step will be
    Uninstall the program the usual Control Panel way.
    (If you can get into the program long enough to go to Help Menu/Sign Out, please do that to deactivate the program
    before going to the uninstall in Control Panel area.)
    Do a run through with ccleaner (both the regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from
    incomplete uninstalls and reinstalls.

    Reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewalls disabled.
    (If you have McAfee as the antivirus, that may be problem, and we can take care of that without having to go

  • Adobe X and signatures not staying

    Good Afternoon,
    I'm having an issue with some of the WIndows & Adobe X users at my place of work. When they go to sign a document they have constantly re-establish their Digital Signature, in that the file still exists but Adobe keeps forgetting where it is. This does not happen on all of the Windows 7, Adobe X Standard, computers, but i'd more than half are experiencing this issue. The installation method for our Adobe X is we install Adobe 7 and then use the upgrade version of Adobe X Standard.

    Rafa,  I spent a few hours today hunting answers to the same problem.  According to this page, "The iFilter shell extension has a limitation with Microsoft Desktop Search and is not installed with Reader X."  I'm not sure what "has a limitation with" is supposed to mean.
    Adobe is really making problems for its users with this one.  They stopped posting separate IFilter installers on their download page when they started bundling IFilter in with Reader (except for the 64-bit version of IFilter 9, which is available on the download page), and the installer for Reader X not only doesn't include the IFilter, but it actually removes/disables whatever IFilter you've got installed.  So, you can't, for example, install Reader 9.4 to get the IFilter from it, and then install Reader X over top of it to have a more modern/secure version of Reader, because your IFilter will disappear.  You are stuck choosing between Reader 9.4 with a somewhat modern IFilter and probably poor security, or Reader X with no IFilter (or the last IFilter to have its own installer, version 6.0, which is 6 years old).
    Dear Adobe, this is a real mess that needs to be fixed.  How many people out there have no idea that their PDF files are no longer searchable because Reader X removed their IFilter?  At least create an installer for IFilter v9.4 so people can use a modern IFilter in combination with Reader X, instead of being forced to use Reader 9.4.  There are a lot of posts in this forum about the missing IFilter, and I don't see a single reply from Adobe.

    Issue: Whenever the end-user runs the PDF maker in Word 2003, it converts the file fine but when you close the PDF and return to the Word document, it shows the progress bar is still working to create the PDF.
    Related? In the Event System log, an error for SidebySide with the Event IDs of 32 and 59. I couldn't determine if these errors relate to each other.

  • Adobe cs4 (trial)  Installation problem to WinXP sp3

    I tried to download and install CS4 (trial) with akamai download manager. When I go to CS4 folder, I try to run the setup but i get the error "The Adobe Setup encounter a problem and must be terminated" I tried to open the setup.exe from the zip folder, it run's to the end and then the same error comes up again. I deactivated my firewall but again I can't install CS4. I contacted the technical support but they didn't help me. I get the following error data which I prompted to send to Microsoft.     Taken at face value, you're having trouble with a Windows operating system file there.
    Perhaps try an sfc /scannow. For instructions, see the following Microsoft document:

    First thing to try is the latest version of Lightroom (currently 5.6). If it don't crash, then problem solved - upgrade.
    If Lr5 won't run on your machine, then Lr4 instead.
    If both Lr5 and Lr4 crash on your machine, then at least you know it's a not a Lightroom version problem but something wonked in your system.
    If you can't figure out how to resolve the crash on the system you have, then it's time for a new system (or try another converter/editor app).
    PS - A few things to try:
    * After re-installing new version, if that doesn't fix it, then get rid of all Lightroom-related data files (rename them so they can be restored), in case problem is in Lr data file.
    * Remove all non-essential hardware in case problem is hardware/driver.
    * Startup up machine with minimal software services.
    * If still no go, consider updating driver software, including mainboard drivers and/or bios firmware if need be.
    * Of course run all the system hardware and software diagnostics you can - problem could be failing disk or ram..
    * Check system event logs for any clues.
    If you don't know how to do some of these things - ask.
    Do not say "you've tried everything" unless you want a lecture - there is most definitely something you haven't tried. It's like when you can't find your car keys - you haven't looked everywhere -  there is somewhere you haven't looked!
    PS - Has Lightroom EVER worked on your machine? what's changed since then..
