Adobe 9.3.3 Silent Print issue

I upgraded from Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 to 9.3.3. Now when I launch an xfdf to populate it's PDF and pass the print parameters (only occurs when it is a silent print) it does the following:
The print completes as expected but I receive the following mgs boxes:
Adobe Acrobat
Expected a dict object.
and
Fatal Error:
Acrobat failed to send a DDE command.
The fatal error closes Adobe and requests a Microsoft Error Report.
This is also happening on Adobe Reader version 9.3.3
I am on Windows XP Pro version 2002 with service pack 2
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Doug

Looks like this is not happening outside the several hundred users that have reported this to me.
Another note: the final fatal error in Reader states:
Runtime Error!
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
R6025
- pure virtual function call
I submitted a bug report to Adobe but no response.
Unfortunately our company will have to use a third party viewer and all my JavaScript work will be for nothing.
Thanks,
Doug

  • Silent Print Issue

    Dear all,
I have used javascript silent print command for printing pdf document. This functionality is working fine for last 1 year. Recently my user has reported issue in the functionality. I have checked functionality at my end and its still working fine. When I tried similar on my user's machine, its not working. Only difference which I can make out is that I have only Adobe Reader 9.4.3, where as my user has Adobe Reader 9.4.1 along with writer.
    Can you please help?
    - Is it due to different version fo adobe reader?
    - Is is due to some settings in adobe reader?
    - Does it anything to do with javascript for silent print?
    - Does it related to some windows version / registry settings around default printer?
    Regards,
    Satty

    Hi,
    No error message as such.
The popup appears "This document is trying to print. do you want to allow this?" and on clicking on "Yes", nothing happens. Where as in my machine (9.4.3), on clicking "Yes", document is sent to the default printer for printing and it works fine.

  • Adobe Reader Update causes weird printing issues

I recently updated my Adobe Reader to Adobe Reader X. I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 68-bit I believe. After updating to Reader X, I noticed that when I go to print a document, the print settings in Adobe are default set to Print on both sides. I was only printing 1 page so I ignored this and just hit Print, but what happened was really bizarre. The printer printed a blank 2nd page, and then Adobe prompted me to reset my even-numbered pages in the printer to proceed with double-sided printing. If I uncheck the Print on both sides option, I have no problems, everything prints fine. I understand there's already attention called to the bug in the update that defaults the print settings to Print on both sides and has trouble saving new settings. I don't care about that. This is what bothers me: Adobe and the computer and the printer and whatever else is involved should be able to communicate properly that if only 1 page is being printed, it need not print a 2nd blank page and basically force me through the double-sided print process if there's only 1 page, right? Isn't that sort of common sense? I don't mind having to uncheck the Print on both sides option when I go to print just 1 page, but it seems ridiculous to me that I should have to.
Just so you know, I installed the same Adobe Reader X update on a much older computer with a much older printer and had the same problem.
I am wondering if this is an Adobe problem or a printer problem. Neither of the 2 printers I tried this on do doulbe-sided printing automatically. They both require manual help to print on both sides. Will printers that automatically do double-sided printing also send the page through twice even if there is no 2nd page? Then this probably wouldn't be such an issue, if the printer did the double-sided printing itself, I wouldn't care if it passed the paper through twice.
But given that not all printers are equipped with automatic double-sided printing, this then becomes a real pain if I forget to uncheck the Print on both sides button because I then have to go through this entire 2-page process for 1 page. And my printer is in a common area, not right next to my computer, so it adds a lot of back and forth trying to print just 1 page.
Also I read up on previous posts about the default Print on both sides setting, and read one employee's comment that Adobe simply retains the last default setting used for printing PDFs. This is not true. Since my printer at home does not do automatic double-sided printing, I never ever ever use any double-sided printing setting. Even when I do print on both sides, I print odd pages first, flip them over and reset them in the printer, then send a second separate job to print even pages. Same with my work printer. I understand that by defaulting to the double-sided print setting, Adobe is sort of tricking you into saving paper and that's great and all, but all printers don't do double-sided printing automatically. I ended up wasting double the amount of paper last night trying to print a document last night while figuring this out, so way to go.

    Dear user,
We would request you to check your version from Help-> 'About Adobe Reader X' because we doubt that you are using an outdated version of Reader. Please update it to 10.1.3 because it was a known issue in 10.1.2 which got fixed by 10.1.3.
I would also request you to check your printer side setting from Control Panel-> Devices and Printers-> Right click Printer-> Printing Preferences-> Search for 'Print on both side or duplex printing' option (generally its under 'Finishing' tab)-> Uncheck it there if you are not using it.
Hope this will resolve your problem. Let us know the result.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Professional 9.0 causing Printing Issues in Word

ere is my issue:  We are trying to print word Documents to 2 different printers.  In microsoft word it will randomly skip lines, letters, or paragraphs of text when printing. This even happens when printing to a PDF.  As soon as I do an un-installation of Adobe Pro 9.0 it will work fine.  If I re-install it in about a week it will start happening again.  I know it is bizarre but any ideas?  I have attached the original word doc and the output it makes when I print.

What is the version of Acrobat?  When I open your test doc and convert the lines aren't cut off as per your example in the PDF.
Also make sure your normal template is clean.

  • Adobe X (10.0) Scan/Print Issue (Possible OCR Issue?)

    Hello all,
After the Marine Corps mandated upgrading from 8.x to 10.0, we've had some issue with scan documents not printing correctly.
Documents appears to scan normally, just as before, however when we print them- they print with all the text blocked in solid black.
Playing around with different scanner/Adobe settings, I believe I have narrowed it down to OCR issues.
Scan to Picture = Prints perfectly (No OCR)
Scan to Document = Prints with Black Blocks around the Text (w/OCR)
To me that points to OCR.
    Thoughts?  Tips?  Fixes?

    Hi,
I tried reproducing this issue with HP Photosmart Premium scanner but could not replicate this issue.
    The scenarios I tried were:
1: Scanning via Scan button on Scanner as a document i.e. an OCRed PDF and then taking a print out of that scanned PDF.
2: Scanning using Acrobat along with OCR using Searchable Image OCR technique and then taking a print out of that scanned PDF.
3: Scanning using Acrobat along with OCR using Clear Scan technique for OCRing and then taking a print out of that scanned PDF.
In all the 3 cases, this issue was not visible.
Could you please let us know your machine details, scanner and printer model you are using.
And if possible can you please share any file (with OCR and without OCR) for which you are seeing this issue.
    Thanks.

I believe fixes was made in Reader 10.1.5+ to address protected mode in Citrix.
Can you give that a try?
If you are using Citrix Provisioning Services or SCCM/SMS to deploy out versions, every version of Reader/Acrobat in the farm should be uniformally deployed.  You can see the verison in the "Help" menu... "About..."
If you are using PDF through browser, you can still bring up the preferences via "Control K" when the PDF is viewed in browser context.

  • Using Adobe Reader 10.0 X - Printing issue

    Hello,
I have a user who is trying to print out a pdf document using the print as an image file option.
This works except the printout is not centered .
Just wondering if there is a way to correct this?
    Thx,
    Allen

I am having this same issue in my office.  The printer will partially print the document and also spits out a page about the printer being out of memory.  Selecting "Print as Image" is our only work around but this sends a large slow page to the printer.
This was not an issue with version 9.

  • Xerox, Win 7, Adobe printing issues

HELP...2 New computers are Windows 7 with CS4 premium on one and CS4 Standard on the other
PROBLEM: None of our Adobe files will print correctly to our 2 Xerox printers (7750 and 6350). Even though page layout is correct the documents are printing extremely reduced. We have downloaded and installed the Windows 7 Drivers from Xerox -- but this did not correct the problem. Also it is only the Adobe products (All) that don't print correctly. Big problem for a small design firm.

PLEASE!!!! Is there anyone I can talk to about our problem with CS4, Windows 7 & and Xerox print issues. The Adobe software is the only one that seems to have a problem printing and since replacing our Xerox printers (7750, 6350) is not currently an option,  I need a resolution.
We are a small design firm and I have 4 licenses for CS4.  We generally upgrade every other version -- which means we would be investing in CS6 when it is released. I know we are small potatoes in the Adobe world, but this is business and I can't imagine (just looking at all of the threads online), that someone is not working to find a fix for this.
We have downloaded and installed the latest Win7 drivers for both printers. This did not resolve the issue.
HELP -- This is very frustrating. Right now we are saving everything as JPEG files to print -- not a good solution for a graphic design firm.

  • Adobe Reader X Windows 7 (64) Printing Issue

When attempting to print, either by clicking the print button, pressing Ctrl + P, or selecting File - Print, Adobe reader closes.  No print dialog ever appears.
I do not have this issue with other software printing.
    Ideas?

You may have to apply this patch: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/928/cpsid_92870.html
I have found it necessary for some of my users (32-bit Win7 and Vista)

  • Can we silently print a PDF file programmatically without opening Adobe Reader using DDE messages

    Hi,
Can anyone help to solve this.

    Chandu. G.

I would like to do that same thing.  Did you ever find an answer to this question?

  • Adobe printing issues

We have a situation in which we need our adobe program to default to a different printer than the windows default printer.
    Example:
We have a dot matrix printer set as windows default printer. We have to keep this as the default printer because we use a program called ADP and it has to have this printer as a default to work.
We also have a color laser printer that we print with one of our websites that uses adobe. The website automatically prints to which ever printer is selected in adobe. We do not get an option to change it. So it always prints to the dot matrix printer.
We have found a trick in which we can open adobe, print to the color laser printer, and go to the website and print and it will go to the color printer, but we have to do this all the time.
Is there a registry entry or something in which we can change the default printer in adobe? I have read about something with adobe remembering the last printer used but I think it is in version 8 or higher.
Unfortunately, we current have to use version 7 due to some incompatibility with a website we work with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adobe Reader X printing issue

    Hi there,
since we implemented Adobe Reader X in our testing invironment, we habe a printing issue with some of our printers.
In our main network we use Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and with that version therer are no problems with any printer.
Even if a document was printed by a user as more than 1 example, on some printers Adobe Reader prepares the document the many times the user wants to print it. E.g. the user wants to print it out 5 times, Adobe Reader prepares it 5 times for the printer, then it would be printed out.
This is a major problem if a user wants to print out documents with more than 20 pages more than 50 times...
This problem first appear with Version X of Adobe Reader and I didn't find anything about that.
Can anybody help us with that. If more information is regarded, I would to my best to publish...
    Regards
