Adobe 9 Installation problem

OK so I downloaded AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe. When I run the installer it will come up and start to unpack. 99.98% I get an error Setup is unable to find _SETUP.DLL, which is needed to complete the installation. Error 103.
I tried this on several pc's.. If nothing adobe has ever been installed; it works fine. I tried it on a pc (vista) with 8.1.2 and it works fine.. Tried on various others with 7.0 and 8.1.2 and get the same thing. I emptied my temp folder and rebooted. Reopened %temp% and ran the installer.. It creates a 16 Kb .tmp file as it unpacks. When it gives the error it removes the .tmp file. I'm planning on deploying this to many pc's using a batch file
md "%temp%\adobe_9.0"
xcopy /s /y \\server\share\Adobe_Acrobat\9.0\* "%temp%\adobe_9.0"
cd "%temp%\adobe_9.0"
AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi"/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"
cd "%temp%"
rd /S /Q "%temp%\adobe_9.0"
Any help would be appreciated.

I went to open a document in reader and it told of the update to ver 9, so I downloaded it. Then the doc wouldn't open. I saw the installation folder on my desktop, opened it and clicked on setup to reinstall. Before it could finish I got the error 1335 - Data1.cab was missing or corrupt and couldn't be read. I finally hit Ignore. Then I got the error 2350 FDI server error. Now ignore wouldn't work and when I hit abort it rolled back and wouldn't finish the install. I wanted to uninstall it and try again but can't find it listed in add/remove programs or in the programs list from the start button. I then went to the Adobe site and tried to download it from there but it says the installation is complete. I then saw the note on the site about Firefox installation, and while I saw no yellow line with a edit button as they say I was able to find the box in the tools menu and added Adobe to the list. Still nothing. I can't get it to install and can't uninstall it. Please help with any info if you can.

I need help installing acrobat professional 8.1 which I originally purchased and as an upgrade in 2007 on my laptop after another laptop crashed. This is not the first time, however Wayne in the Philippines and his team said they could not help without the serial number before the upgrade. I purchased both versions online at the Adobe store but the original serial number is not there. Last year I had the same problem and another Adobe team was able to help me. What can I do not short of leaving Adobe and going to another PDF Conversion provider?

You are right, Adobe does not support CS5 because it is no longer sold.
Simply download the trial version of CS5 from this Adobe web site and input your serial number.

  • Problem with Adobe Installer

I have downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS6 for Mac but I can't install it.
Adobe Installer is saying: OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for this installer.
10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation. My OS is Leopard. I don't think is that old. Help!

You won't be able to run CS6 software on Leapord(10.5.x). You'll need atleast Snow Leapord(10.6.x). I can't think of any way to run CS6 products on Leapord. Sorry.

  • Is After Effects CS5.5 PowerPC-only? (Installation Problem)

I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium on a new (2012) Mac Mini (Intel Core i7 processor) running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  Most of the apps installed correctly, but After Effects CS5.5 gives me the following error when I try to launch:
You can't open the application "Adobe After Effects CS5.5" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app (along with Flash Catalyst, which also fails), but the error remains. What's the deal here? Is it an installation problem, or is After Effects CS5.5 truly incompatible with my new hardware/OS?  Any suggestions appreciated.

Okay, answered my own question.  I was installing on a Mac Mini, which doesn't have an optical drive, so I was using a remote optical drive to install across my network.  Turns out that confused the installer.  I ended up copying the install DVD onto a flash drive and installing from that.  Problem went away.

I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR.  Microsoft has a utility that can help resolve installation problems.  Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you?  When running the "Fix it", go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system.  Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.

If you still encounter problems, we'll need to review the AIR installer log to better diagnose the issue.  Please post back with the log contents.  You can find instructions for finding these logs here:

  • ++ Debugging ACR Installation Problems ++

If Photoshop CS2/Bridge is not working correctly after you attempt to install ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 3.1 or higher, here a some hints on how to debug common installation problems.
    1. Make sure that "Camera Raw" appears exactly once in Photoshop's "About Plug-in" menu. If it appears zero times, you did not install the plug-in in a correct location. The correct location is shown below. If it appears more than one time, you have multiple copies of the plug-in installed.
The new location for Adobe Camera Raw 3.x and 4.x is:
    >Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS2/File Formats/
b Note: that the Library folder refered to above is that found at root level and NOT the User/Library folder.
    >Win: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS2\File Formats\
    2. If "Camera Raw" appears exactly once in the "About Plug-in" menu, then pick that item and make sure the Camera Raw about box shows version 3.1 or higher. If not, you have the wrong version of Camera Raw installed.
    3. Run Bridge and pick "Camera Raw Preferences..." from the Bridge(Mac) or Edit(Win) menu. If the command is grayed out, then you don't have Camera Raw installed in the correct place. If the Camera Raw preferences dialog does not have "Version 3.1 or higher" in the title bar, you have the wrong version of Camera Raw installed.
If after you verify that that 1, 2 and 3 are correct, and you are still having problems (e.g. generic raw image icons in lieu of thumbnail previews), then next step is to purge the Adobe Bridge cache for any folders you are having problems with. The command to use is:
    "Tools->Cache->Purge Cache for this Folder".

Understood guys. But let me make a few points.
    1. Clearly I'm not the only one who had this problem. In fact, I wasn't the first person in this THREAD to have the problem.
    2. I'm fairly computer savvy, and have worked with Photoshop for several years.
    3. Yes, it does say c: in point 3, but I find it odd that in point 4 it does say Program Files/.... A very strange way to write it. Also, the c: drive is the default installation drive, so it's not idiocy for someone to assume that the file would be located on the same drive as you selected for installation.
    4. This is not about technically right or wrong. I never said that the instructions were wrong. I merely was trying to make a suggestion that would help people avoid the same trap I fell into. Was it my mistake? Yes. Would my clarifying suggestion perhaps help others avoid making the mistake I did. I would hope so. Also, as someone else suggested in this thread, Adobe SHOULD have written an installation program for the ACR 3.1 upgrade that did the placing automatically. After all, EVERYONE knew that ACR3.1 would be released shortly after the release for CS2...in fact Mr. Knoll himself was quoted in other forums about when D2X compatibility would actually happen.
    5. The purpose of these forums is to be helpful to other users--not to be patronizing or rude. I'm a big Photoshop fan, and a loyal customer. I'm also in the service industry, and I would bet that customer service experts would raise an eyebrow or two about the tone contained in certain messages in this thread, including from an Adobe employee.
Just my two cents. Flame away if you must. But you might want to take a look at what I actually suggested in my last message before lighting up the torch.

  • CS-4 Vista 64 Bit Installation problems - "checking system profile...."

    Hello All:
I know that this has been discussed in the past, but I was hoping that perhaps someone has determined a fix for the following problem.
Background: In the past, with Windows XP Professional, I never had problems with loading any Adobe products.  But just last week I reluctantly upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium because it came with a new power system PC that I purchased (AMD quad-core 2.4 gHz Phenom CPU, 8 Gigs of RAM and 1 TB HD) and this is where my problems began:
Nature of problem:  I loaded the latest versions of Lightroom and Adobe Elements just fine - absolutely no problems there.  But when I tried to load my Photoshop CS-4 upgrade disk, it never gets past the "checking system profile" bar at the very beginning of the install process.  I mean to say that you initially get the install window and when you click "install," a small window comes up which indicates "checking system profile."  Then the progress indicator goes all the way to the right - around 90% to the right but then just hangs there - and I mean stays there...period.  I tried this several times, eventually having to use control/ALT/Delete in each instance to get it to stop.  I even let it stay there for over 6 hours - all to no avail.  What I found interesting is that just about all of my older programs - even those dating back to 2001 - all installed without a problem at all.
    2.  Actions I took to try and correct this:
        a.  Then, in my attempt to find fixes for this, I made sure to close out any background programs that were running (and Vista has a million of 'em), to include Firewall, Windows Defender, any other malware and anti-virus programs, not to mention a bunch of smaller programs that have items running in the background.  Then I tried loading CS-4 again....but still no go, the "checking system profile" indicator just hangs at 90% complete.  Note that at no time did the install process ever load any files at all - I checked everything to ensure this wasn't the case, otherwise I would have removed them.
        b.  On my next try, I then I copied all of the files from the CD to a folder on my desktop and tried to run the program from there - still no go as the "checking system profile" window still hangs at 90%  I even tried loading the program by right clicking on the exe file and installing "as administrator," but that didn't do the trick either.
        c.  Then I rebooted into safe mode, trying both to load the programs first from the CD and then from the desktop folder - still no go, but in this case it told me right up front that the action was unable to be completed.  I assumed this meant that in Windows Safe Mode, the installer was not available.
Help Needed:  So folks, I know this has been discussed in the past, but I don't know of any fixes that are available.  Can anybody help me through this process?  You can also send me direct emails at:  [email protected] - which means I'd get them right away.
This has been driving me up a wall because some other folks with Vista 64 Bit systems report that they had no problems with installation.  Again - it never makes it to installation, but gets hung up at the "checking system profile" stage.
    Argggggggg......
    Thanks,
    Ben Herrmann

I believe you are falling victim to some known incombatibility of LR vs. PS CS4 installer. This should be covered in the knowledge base, so check there. A short way to happiness may be using the CS4 Clean Utility to remove the debris from the failed installs and unregister other Adobe installs, then install PS CS4, but since I don't use LR and never have tried this, I'm not sure if this specific case is covered.

  • Can't get Photoshop Elements 11 to install. Adobe Installer message: Installer failed to initialize.

Can't get Photoshop Elements 11 to install.
... Adobe Installer message: Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.
... Adobe Support Advisor message "Inspection could not identify any issues. Please contact Adobe Support for further assistance. http://www.adobe.com/support."
... .... So far I have downloaded twice, to two different folders (Desktop and my default download folder). Neither option has worked.  Please help!  I'd like to download Premiere Elements 11, but with this kind of installation problem on PSE11, it seems a second program may be as much of a problem to try to install.

As Mylenium has stated all we have is a very general error message at this point so it is impossible to advise you until we have additional details.  Please review your installation logs by following the steps listed in Troubleshoot install using logs | Elements - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-install-using-logs-elements.html.

  • Acrobat 7.1 update fails -- Windows Installer problem

I am running Windows XP SP3.
During the update to Acrobat 7.1, I first get a Windows message in a window labeled "Windows Intaller" that states "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."
Having no clue what this means, I stick my legal Windows XP CD in the drive but that is no help.
This is followed by a message from the Adobe installer that it has failed because "Missing source media. (Error 1612)"
Can anyone please suggest a fix?
