Adobe 9 Pro opening PDF's in another program

I am running Windows XP SP3. I received an obvious excel file, that is basically a provider directory, that has been PDF'ed. I am now trying to open in Excel so that I can manipulate the file. Is there a type of reverse conversion button, or good way to do this. When I try to open in MS Excel 2007, and I select delimited, it does not convert properly.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks

You should ask the person who created the PDF to send you the original XLS
Acrobat is designed to convert an editable "fluid" document into a "static" document for viewing and printing
Going back to an edit version is not so easy, since that is not what the process is designed to do
You might, in Acrobat, be able to open a PDF and extract information and save it as an XLS... but, according to previous messages I have read, the process does not always work very well

Just put the code directly in a document script. Any code in the document script (that is not a function) will execute on opening the document (assuming that Javascript has not been disabled on the user's end).

    Hi tapanb34358563,
Could you please let me know what error prompts on your screen when you are trying to enter the serial number.
Have you bought subscription for Acrobat, if yes then you might need to sign in at "adobe.com" using your Adobe ID credentials to activate subscription.
    Let me know.

  • Adobe will not open PDF files from other programs

This is on one of the computers in our office.  We use a medical records program called Sevocity.  This program stores documents that we import into the electronic charts as PDF files.  When we upgraded that computer from Adobe to Adobe Pro, it no longer opened the PDF documents stored there.  Is this an issue with the medical program or with Adobe Pro?  We already had Sevocity Support attempt to fix the problem, but they said the issue looked like it was with Adobe.
We would like to troubleshoot by re-installing AdobePro, but we want to make sure that none of our files stored to the Adobe Document Cloud.  If we re-install Adobe, will those documents still be available in the online Adobe account's Document Cloud, or do we need to move those documents to the collective Creative Cloud?

Yeah, it does open from other sources like "My Documents", but sometimes it won't open the print previews in our billing system either.  Communication error with secure sites and programs, maybe?  I don't get an error message, though.  It just displays the "processing" symbol next to the mouse for a second or two like it does when PDF's usually open, and then nothing happens.  We are using Windows 7 on that computer.  The other computer that runs on Windows 7 also has Adobe Pro XI, but does not experience these problems.  I have also put in a ticket with Sevocity (the program that is not communicating with Adobe).
And that's a relief about the Document Cloud!  We will try to re-install just in case it was something that went wrong with the initial install.

  • How to use Adobe Reader, open pdfs with OS X 10.6.7?

I just got a new MacBook Pro. When I try to download Adobe Reacer or open PDFs, I get messages that say this type of Mac doesn't support Adobe Reader. I use PDFs all the time.  How do I get around this?

I am not being allowed to downoad/install Adobe Reader or open PDFs.  When I try to do either one, I get a message that this type of Mac doesn't support Adobe Reader.  I just talked to Apple Care. They told me how to open PDFs with another application andd referred me to Adobe for installation questions.  Thanks.

  • How to stop Adobe Reader opening pdf's in Safari

I've checked all the forums for this problem and have tried all the solutions, however none work for me.
I've deleted Adobe Reader and used a program call CleanMyMac to get rid of all files, so no plug-in's, nothing left of Adobe Reader. Yet, I cannot open pdf's in Safari as it still wants to use Adobe Reader.
I've right clicked other pdf's in my documents and have checked that they are opening with my default program, which is Evernote. The option to 'change all'  is greyed out.
What else can I do, other than stop using Safari?

Adobe Reader installed?  If so remove Reader.
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins
    Look for these two files.
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click those and select “Move To Trash”.
    Remove CleanMyMac

  • Adobe Pro XI PDF to Word

    Hi,
Our company is evaluating your product (Adobe Pro XI). When we use it to convert PDF to Word, some line brakes are missing. We tried all the possible settings, but still no luck. "Retain Page Layout" is the closest to the ideal result we want, but this option is not only missing some line brakes but also cutting off some text. "Retain Flowing Text" option does not cut off any text, but still missing line brakes. I attached the screen shot, it clearly shows my issue.
Please take a look and let me know what caused this issue? Is there any option that we missed or anything we can do about it.
    Thanks.

Obvious from looking at it that the Text boxes created by acrobat  are different as are you margins.
Go to print menu Page setup and set margins to either .5 or .25" left and Right then try  creating your Pdf's Unlike  Previous to X.
X and XI messes with the Print margins. and previous the floated and created equal size margin based on what was scanned or converted.
After creating your  PDF you can always crop evenely around the content, so only content shows.  Then when you go to print the white margin is spread evenly around the document.  Another feature they added which never should have been is in order to print a duplexed document (Print on Both sides , you have to go in Properties and uncheck simplex (that overrides your printer settings), so it allows duplex printing. All Software except from Adobe allows the printer sub system be in charge of print. They just send proper command to cause to print correct. Adobe has taken it upon themselves to money with the pRinting system over-riding Printer commands, to suit what they think is right.

  • I can no longer directly print from the USPS print servelet. I now have to save the file and rename the extension to PDF load in another program to print. It used to be automatic. What happened?

When trying to print from the USPS website (to print a label) when I click to pay and print instead of my print selection screen coming up I get the "Firefox doesn't know what to do with this" screen. THrough some web searching I found I can save the file, then change the extension to PDF and load it in another program and print but it adds two steps and is a real pain. Why would this have changed????

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

  • Adobe reader opening pdf within O365 Sharepoint

Here is my issue. We used to have SBS sharepoint and migrated to O365, since then here is the issue.
When we go to our sharepoint site alias.sharepoint.com we cna login and within the browser we can open Adobe files file with reader.
If we go to Library>Open with Explorer this is where issue are. Sometime it will open the pdf and other times it won't.
We have reset IE, reinstalled Adobe reader, etc...
I recently installed Foxit reader and all is fixed and working for time being, BUT my client wants to use Adobe so I was wondering does Adobe FULLY support opening pdf files in the Sharepoint>Explorer view or do i need an update we are on v11 and fully updated with all the publically released updates.

I have an update. I called Adobe to get this confirmed.
If you have Office 365, Sharepoint 2013 running on O365 then I am told Adobe Reader 11 is not compatible when opening a Sharepoint in this way. (Library>Open In Explorer) they didn't say but I assume and hope Adobe Reader 12 would fix.
Here is the workaround, installed FoxIt pdf reader and it will open the files fine for viewing.

  • After installing Adobe, I find I can't open pdf files and the program shuts down automatically.

  • Help with Adobe InDesign -opening pdf's & Plug-ins please

I am receiving the following message when I try to open a pdf in indesign....."Adobe indesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application. I really need to use indesign an complete a project for my work, otherwise this application was a waste.

Hi Steve, a year ago I opened a PDF and edited the wording in indesign…
You may be mis-remembering that. There are programs like PDF2ID that will convert a PDF into an InDesign file that can be edited, but they essentially recreate the elements of the PDF to the best of their ability and usually require tweaking to get to look exactly like the original. If you did this on your own computer, you would know if you had one of these programs, but if you did it at a job, they might have had something that you don't have now.
And there are tools to edit PDFs that you can search for, but many people consider PDF to be the final format in the design stage, and if editing is needed, it is recommended to be done in the design phase, which is usually the live InDesign file from which the PDF has been generated. If all you have is the PDF, you may want to consider using an editor, but only if you can't find the original files.

  • TextBox/text callout crashes 9.5.5 Pro; opening PDFs with forms kills before opening

Pulling out my hair.  Original installation of Acrobat 9.0 pro on my new Windows 8.1 machine had no issues, but recently I cannot open any PDFs with fill-in forms (whether already filled in or ready-to fill in from a trusted agency), and neither can I annotate with text box or text callout (but can add with sticky notes).  I had Acrobat Reader installed and received the 'font capture acrord32.exe error, after uninstalling Reader and Acrobat and cleaning up as many orphan files/directories/registry entries, I re-installed Acrobat and patched to 9.5.5, with no improvement.
I am not sure if some other software installation or upgrade has hosed Acrobat, or one of the many Adobe patches to one of their programs has caused this problematic behavior, but I would welcome any suggestions (well not re-install my operating system, but I am willing to try one of my backups).
    steve

Appreciate you getting back to me, unfortunately the Acrobat 9 version I was having problems with is at home and I will not be there until June.  You refer to Acrobat Cleaner - is this available on Adobe's website or is it a third party cleaner.  As best as I can remember the issue with Professional is that it will not open files with fill-in forms - the problem with Reader is that it reports a problem with fonts.  I will be back in touch once I return to my home computer.

  • Acrobat won't open w/o launching another program?

I want to combine multiple files into a single PDF document. I open acrobat, and when I select the
"Combine multiple files" option it tells me I cannot launch Acrobat unless I launch a component program, like Photoshop, first.
however Photoshop is already running, so I don't know what it's talking about.
is there a way to do this through Photoshop or something?

This issue should be related to licensing. When using the CS Suite one of the other programs must be activated before using Acrobat. Assuming you have perhaps something is awry with the licensing function. You might try this:

  • Why doesn't my macbook pro open pdf files from internet?

Nothing happens after tab opens when i try to download pdf files from websites to my macbook pro..any ideas as to what needs to be done to resolve this issue??

What browser?  If you're using Safar, do a reset on it from the main menu.  Your Mac should have a native PDF viewer that has a plug-in in Safari to allow for this.
Or you could always load up Adobe Reader off Adobe's website and work with that after you install it.  I'd try the browser reset first.  Be aware that it'll purge your history, etc.
