Adobe 9 standard Crashes when trying to scan

Hello all,
I read the post earlier about Adobe 9 standard (9.4.5) having trouble setting Scan Portfolios. I tired the suggestion to no availe still have scanning problem.
Running Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard (9.4.5), OS Windows 7 Home, on a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. Problem is when I go to scan I get the error "AdobeAcrobat 9.4 has stopped working." "Messages" point me to an Adobe KB article which deals with installing updates. All updates are installed, I can view PDF's, create them from a file, create  a PDF portfolio. but I cannot scan. Scanner is a Canon DR2010C. works with the software that came with the scanner no problem. Only in Adobe. Need help quickly. Adobe was working ok until this past Monday. Thanks in advance

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Have you viewed the tutorial links at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830 page?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X Crashes when Trying to Scan to PDF - Epson Perfection v30 on Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 with Acrobat Pro 10.0.0
I have a Epson Perfection v30 Scanner installed. I open Acrobat, and when I select Scan to PDF, pick the v30 Scanner, and start the scan, it does actually start and complete the scanning process. However, at the moment where it displays the results of the scan, Acrobat crashes with the following Signature:

We have 8 machines with Acrobat and this Printer, and I am able to repeat this with each system.
Does anybody have any ideas? Is anybody using the Epson Perfection v30 scanner?

Any ideas?   there was an update on adobe dated 2/25/13.   Perhaps if I uninstall it?   I need advice on how to uninstall. When I view updates and click on it, and then click uninstall, it goes back to the Program Screen, in Control, for all programs. Then do I click on Acrobat and Uninstall?  I am nervous about doing this. Thanks

  • Updated Adobe AIR and now Adobe reader crashes when trying to open PDFs created by Livescribe

Adobe AIR auto-updated earlier this afternoon, and now every time I try to open a PDF created by Livescribe, Adobe Reader crashes.
    Adobe Reader XI ver. 11.0.0.379
    Adobe AIR ver. 3.5.0.1060
    Windows 7 Pro, SP1
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both AIR and Reader, to no avail. I can provide install log for AIR if needed (just need to know how to upload it, or if you'd rather me paste the text).
    Thanks for any help,
    -Rick

    Hi Rick,
I'm surprised that the AIR update would cause Reader to crash.  I received an update to Reader recently (yesterday I think), could this have also occurred on your system?  Regardless, we should be able to drop back to an earlier version of AIR to try it out.  Just uninstall and then grab AIR 3.4 located here:
    http://download.macromedia.com/air/win/download/3.4/AdobeAIRInstaller.exe
Please let me know if this helps.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Adobe InDesign crashes when trying to print

I use Adobe CS4 regularly.  I could print fine from all apps in CS4 until yesterday when I tried to print from InDesign CS4 and the app crashed.  All other apps in CS4 print fine, as do all other apps.  I've attempted to create a new print preset and also tried to edit the printer default, but InDesign crashes every time.  Has this happened to anyone else?
The only things I've done differently (or new) was to test a new antivirus app (Anti-Virus Software for Mac Protection | Kaspersky Lab United States) and also to download and try out the new Firefox 11.  I also created a couple of pdf files in InDesign (as I've done dozens of times with no problems).
The printer is an Epson all-in-one WorkForce 630, and I have confirmed that I'm using the latest drivers.  I've done restarts and shutdowns.  Nothing seems to help, and only InDesign CS4 seems to be affected.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated...and thanks in advance for your input.

Forgot to mention that I can still create pdf files using the CS4 presets, and can also continue to work on files and save them but the only way to print is by creating a pdf file and printing that.

  • Acrobat pro 9.5.0 crashes when trying to scan

Hi guys, my acrobat 9.5.0 keeps on crashing whenever i try to scan, what might be the problem? it was working fine a few weeks ago, and the scanner still works with other programmes.
    please help, many thanks.
    operating system: Windows 7
    scanner: Samsung CLX-3175

Have you tried a repair? Are the other programs interfacing with the scanner in the same way. Classically, AA has used Twain drivers and there may be a problem with the interface driver.

  • PSE 10 crashes when trying to scan.

Scanner shows up in menu. Using OS 10.7.4

Yes, I understand that. I'm trying to first establish whether the problem is with PSE or your scanner. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 settings
Repair permissions and try again. That user library is hidden in lion. To see it. click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key. It will appear below the little house for your user account.
Also check the scanner manufacturer's website to see if there is a TWAIN driver for that model that you need to install.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

Captivate 8 Continually Crashes: When trying to publish, When trying to use the Object Style Manager. Also it is blocked by Windows Firewall (adobecaptivatews) every time it launches. Working with Captivate App Packager the pane to import from Adobe Edge is missing, so not clear how to import. Overall it seems unstable. Am I doing something wrong? Trying to evaluate before buying so working on a trial version (14 days left), but a bit concerned with Captivate 8 Performance. Please help! :-

    Hi Vikram and Lilybiri,
    Thanks for your responses :-)
I'm working on Windows 8.1... I think that I may have found the issue... I was saving the file in a project directory rather than the default My Captivate Projects folder...
Perhaps Captivate was struggling to find resources it needed?
It hasn't crashed for a while now, though it is struggling - I'm working with a 54 slide PPT presentation that is linked and it takes a very long time to interact.
Sometimes it says that I've removed slides, which I haven't?
    Best,
    Christy.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from  Microsoft Project 2007

Issue: Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from Microsoft Project 2007.
    OS: Win XP Pro SP3
    Error Message(s): None
Details: This issue happens with multiple Microsoft Project files (including new files), multiple PDF creators (included Acrobat 8 Standard) and on multiple computers. We also tried opening the PDFs in Adobe Reader 8 instead of Acrobat Standard 8. There is no record in the event log on the computers of the application crashes.

I may have a resolution now...
I clicked Tools -> Options -> View and turned off Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D" on the advice of someone on a Microsoft Forum. I made three PDFs from three Microsoft Project files (that were having trouble previously) and was not able to get these PDFs to crash when zooming or changing pages. So far so good!

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when trying to Export Media

I really hope someone can help me with this.
I bought a brand new Dell XPS 15 because I will be studying multimedia production next year. Next week I'm registering for the art school and I'll be able to buy a CC student license. I installed the Creative Cloud Trial Version because I couldn't wait to check out the new features in Photoshop and Premiere Pro. However after working on a Premiere Pro project for several hours, the program crashed when trying the Export>Media function.
As soon as I hit Export>Media in every project I make in Premiere Pro, the following dialog box pops up: "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.". I'm not able to export my project, not even by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+M.
I already tried reinstalling Creative Cloud, without any luck. Any idea what could be causing this? I really need this fixed before school starts, so help is much appreciated.
    Here are my system specs:
    - Intel Core i7-4712HQ processor
    - 16GB DDR3L RAM
    - Nvidia GeForce GT750M 2GB
    - 500GB SSD
Thanks to everyone willing to take a look at my problem.

    Hi John,
Thanks for your response. I checked all those links but I'm afraid none of those solves my problem. My GPU drivers are up to date and changing BIOS settings to fixed to disable Nvidia Optimus doesn't work as well.
I checked Windows Event Viewer and the error shows as following:

  • Help - Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when trying to start Organizer

Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when trying to start Organizer. Funny, that starting the Photoshop Editor is not a problem and works fine.
I deinstalled the software and then installed it again, but had no effect.
    What can I do?
    Nick

The Organizer preferences may have become corrupted, needing to be automatically re-built on a re-start.
    Close Elements.
Click the Start Button and then your user name (in place of mine) and navigate to:
    C: Users >> 99Jon >> AppData >> Roaming >> Adobe >> Elements Organizer >>8.0 >> Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
After deleting these two files re-start the program
AppData may be a hidden system file. See the link to reveal hidden files.
