Adobe Acrobat 11 menu is blank

We are using Windows 7 64-bit edition.  We recently upgraded to Acrobat Standard & Pro 11.0.10.  I have users who are no longer able to view the Preferences menus.  The menu is too large to be seen on the entire screen.  The topics also have lines through them.  I've tried to navigate to the Preferences > General section to check the "Scale for screen resolution" option, but the menu is so large that its not visible on the screen.  I've also attempted to repair Acrobat multiple times and it has not fixed the problem.
In addition, when I open a PDF, and select View > Tools > Protection, the menu and options are blank and don't show any topics or words.  Any assistance to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated.

How many fonts do you have installed on the system?
If it's a manageable amount then you may want to troubleshoot corrupt fonts on the system.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional X - shows blank dialog boxes with vertical bars

    The file and print screen and the file and properties screen both show mainly blank screens with vertical bars only on them, no text at all.
    Looking around the forum I found it may be a font problem.  Is there a way to know which font or if that is actually the problem and how do you resolve that?
    This is on a Windows 7 - 64bit system with Adobe Acrobat Professional X (10.1.12) installed.
    Thank you.

    Hi brian!

  • Adobe Acrobat XI printed to blank PDF from Brava Reader v7.3 on a paper size 100mm x 3000mm

    I am on Adobe Acrobat XI and am having trouble printing to PDF from Brava Reader v7.3 to a paper size 100mm x 3000mm. The output is a blank PDF to the given paper size.  I was able to print with image from Brava Reader v7.2.  However, when I installed a freeware PDF995, it allows me to print to this paper size (albeit with only 600DPI - too low resolution).  What is the problem with Adobe Acrobat?  Please help?

    Is AcroTray running in the background? Can you print to file using the Adobe PDF printer and open the file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF?

  • When I open Adobe Acrobat, the menu onthe left is always set to 'Layers'.  I have tried to change it to 'Pages' without any luck.  Can anyone suggest a fix?

    When I open Adobe Acrobat X, the menu on the left is always set to 'Layers'.  How can I change it to always be set to 'Pages'?

    Most of the time you see something like that. The image in question has a color profile other then sRGB. Some image viewers/displayers are color managed and others are not.  So the image do not look the same in all of the applications you use. So colors seem to change.
    Try converting it to sRGB color and see if then looks the same all around. Also I think PC and Mac displays are set to different gamma something like 1.8 and 2.2
    Though I'm colorblind I even see color variations.

  • Adobe Acrobat links display as blank black page - sometimes white. How do I solve this?

    I currently run Firefox 3.6.9. I receive some utility bills on line in Adobe. When I access the provided link, the Adobe tab displays a completely black and blank screen. On occasion it turns white eventually, but still blank.
    If I try my previous version of Firefox all works well.
    I compared the Options settings - they are the same.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks Steve,
    Do you know if this also applies to standard transitions and not just the page turning one? Page turning transition is the only one which requires you to export as an swf file.
    Thanks

  • Printing VIA Adobe Acrobat

    Post Author: Charlene
    CA Forum: General
    I have a letter that pulls from our database for specific fields.  The report, based on critera, can produce up to 50 letters.  I have posted this on our Intranet, and when it is run, gives 1 letter per page, with no blank pages in between.  BUT, when the user prints this from Adobe Acrobat, we get 2 blank pages in between each letter.  It appears that there is a comma or something that's printing on the adobe blank pages, so I've expanded the view in Crystal to see if I can find a comma, period, something that is sitting out in the "margin" that doesn't belong.  I have found notthing at all.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    There could be an issue of AA8 versus OFFICE 2007, but they should work together. Here is one MicroSoft site discussing the dll issue that is apparently a problem http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/officeversion_other-outlook/the-file-olmap i32dll-is-incompatible-with/32f3db73-f029-4c5a-aa51-43789c425a3c. That link might not solve the problem, but it does suggest that MAPI has been a problem for Outlook. Acrobat uses MAPI to send files to the default mail package and your error suggests some problem with the MAPI dll from what I can see.

  • How do you grey out a radio button if a text field is blank in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?

    How do you grey out a radio button if a text field is blank in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
    So this what I'm trying to do:
    (     )   |TEXT FIELD|
    (     )   |TEXT FIELD|
    (     )   |                  |
    (     )   |TEXT FIELD|
    I have a radio button: (     )
    and a text field: |TEXT FIELD|
    The third text field is blank, and I would like for the radio button next to it greyed out (user can't click on it) since the text field is blank. Is this possible to achieve? I'm assuming I'll have to use javascript, but what would the code be and would it be entered in the javascript editor for the text field or the radio button?
    Thanks in advance guys

    Hey, thanks, but it didn't work
    I have the text fields as read only. Could that be why it's not working? Should I make the fields not read only?
    Thanks,

  • When i select a pdf file for download in a webpage instead of automatically downloading the file and opening it using adobe acrobat I get a new blank window in the browser and it says done in the bottom left corner

    when I select a pdf file within a webpage and click to download instead of getting the "download" window and the file automatically opening after download using adobe reader I get a blank webpage (in the same tab) and in the bottom left corner it says"done". No file is downloaded and if I click "back" I just return to the webpage containing the link.

    Aha!  The properties for the plugin file nppdf32.dll for Adobe Reader indicate the file is for Adobe Acrobat.  This misidentification is then used by SeaMonkey as a label in the helper application list.
    Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37:  nppdf32.dll has version 11.0.3.37.  This is the version in SeaMonkey's plugins folder.
    Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8.218:  nppdf32.dll has version 7.0.9.50.
    As for having both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on the same PC, this generally works providing Reader is installed AFTER Acrobat.  Reader is freeware, and I want to keep it current.  Acrobat is purchaseware, and I cannot afford to keep buying  upgrades or newer versions.

  • Printing Blank Pages in Adobe Acrobat

    I hope someone can help me with this. This seems to be the most ridiculous problem in the world.
    So I created a form in Adobe Acrobat designer. I'd be happy to send it to you guys if that would help. And everything is working fine with the form until I go to print it. For some reason the form shows up on my print dialog as a completely blank document and when I print I get an empty sheet of paper from my printer. Any ideas on why this would even happen in the first place and what I can do to correct it?
    Thanks
    -Jones

    Can you post a link to the document?

  • While creating a PDF document usinf Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, it generates additional blank pages.

    While creating a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it generates additional blank pages. How do I resolve this issue?

    I might make a wild guess that you are using WORD and have used hard page breaks. If that is the case, then likely what happens is when you print to PDF the document is being reflowed to match the printer and the forced page break may end up on the next page and be forcing a second page. Just a guess.

  • Why Adobe Acrobat XI Pro is not in the drop down menu?

    I tried to activate Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (Windows) in a Windows 7 Virtual Machine in Parallels in my MacBook Pro, but it isn't available in the drop down menu that is shown to activate the product. My serial number is correct. What can I do?
    I installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro in Boot Camp within the same computer, but I couldn't used it any more as I had a major failure with Windows 7 in such partition. Therefore, I couldn' deactivated it before reinstalling it in the Parallels virtual machine. In any case,  there shouldn't be a problem with the License as the new installation is the second one, and I can't used the first installation anyway.
    Thanks.

    It makes perfect sense. Thanks.
    It's not part of a Suite, but thanks for your comment.
    PROBLEM SOLVED!
    I downloaded & reinstalled my previous versions of Acrobat and the problem was solved. Thanks again.

  • How do you Make an Interactive Drop Down Menu in Adobe Acrobat Pro That Uses Hyperlinks?

    Hi first off let me point out and apologise in advance for my ignorance and possibly my misuse of the correct terms, I'm new to this.
    Anyway here goes, my best attempt to try and explain myself. Using Adobe Acrobat Pro I am trying to create a drop down menu that lists a set of documents. Once you click an item in the drop down menu it then opens up the corresponding document. So far example the Menu reads "Documents" and below it there is three options "Dogs" "Cats" "Hotdogs" when you click on "Hotdogs" you open up the document for hotdogs etc.
    I have actually done it once before using Javascript and a combo box and I think basically you buried the links to documents in a series of bookmarks, the Javascript code then was basically a shortcut to activate those bookmarks.
    So in short, could someone please tell me the code I would need to make this happen? I have looked extensively for the right forum post to see if my question has already been covered but I couldn't find anything and I possibly could have been using the wrong search terms.
    Please ask me to clarify anything to help you understand what it is I'm asking.
    Thank you in advance for all your help.
    Elliot.

    Hey I think I found a solution to my own problem I made an "OK Button" right click>properties>actions>select action>run a javascript>add - and executed this code:
    function searchBookmarks(bkm, nLevel, bkmName)
      if ( bkm.name == bkmName ) return bkm;
      if (bkm.children != null) {
      for (var i = 0; i < bkm.children.length; i++)
      var bkMark = searchBookmarks(
      bkm.children[i], nLevel + 1, bkmName);
      if ( bkMark != null ) break;
      return bkMark;
      return null;
    function bookmarksAsPopUp(bookmarks)
       if(bookmarks && bookmarks.children)
         for(var i=0;i<bookmarks.children.length;i++)
      bookmarkName = bookmarks.children[i].name.replace(/\s{2,}/g,' ');
      while (bookmarkName.indexOf(String.fromCharCode(11)) > 0)
      bookmarkName = bookmarkName.substring(0,bookmarkName.indexOf(String.fromCharCode(11))) +" "+ bookmarkName.substring(bookmarkName.indexOf(String.fromCharCode(11))+1)
      popUp = popUp+"{cName: '"+bookmarkName+"', cReturn: '"+bookmarkName+"'" ;
      if(bookmarks.children[i].children)
              popUp = popUp + ", oSubMenu: [";
       bookmarksAsPopUp(bookmarks.children[i]);
       popUp = popUp + "]";
      popUp = popUp+"}";
      if (i != bookmarks.children.length-1)
      popUp = popUp+", "
       return popUp;
    var popUp = "";
    bookmarksAsPopUp(this.bookmarkRoot);
    var cChoice = eval("app.popUpMenuEx(" + popUp + ")" ) ;
    bkm = searchBookmarks(this.bookmarkRoot, 0, cChoice );
    if ( bkm != null ) bkm.execute();
    Then you can just add your own bookmarks and they populate the pop-up menu automatically (including the hierarchy sub menu structure, you nest bookmarks within a main book mark.) which is a more efficient way than the one I used before.
    I take no credit for this by the way my source is here PDF Bookmarks as a PopUp Menu | The Practical:PDF Blog
    I hope this helps anybody looking to do the same.
