Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Windows 7 Problem

How do I get Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Windows 7 compatible so I can access my attachments to e-mails sent to me?

I was successful in installing AA5 in Win7 Starter as a test. It works except that I changed the printer port to file (AcroTray or the Distiller Assistant of AA5 does not work in Win7). You can open the files that are created in Distiller to create PDFs. You may be able to use watched folders to automate the process to some degree.
I suspect that your question is more of having problems reading PDF files in AA5. That is a different issue. It is not a Win7 compatibility issue, but one of needing a newer PDF viewer. I have AA5 on one XP machine that I use Reader X on for seeing the newer files. I do have to deal with some conflicts between AA5 and ARX, but I can deal with that (many folks lose there minds on that).
There is one other option that might be a major problem. Many folks are getting Win7 on 64-bit machines. In that case, you will have to be sure AA5 runs in 32-bit compatibility.
At least that should give you some ideas of what might work. If a 64-bit machine, you may definitely have a problem -- I never tested that combination.

I have Adobe acrobat 9 pro and installed it on my Dell windows 7 desktop. When I go to print to Adobe the pictures come up in the print screen with a green hue or tint to them. To view the pictures in the folder they are fine. To actually print the pics to the printer they print fine, but attempting to convert the pictures to a pdf file, they show and convert with this green hue or tint. Any ideas as to why? I had this program installed on my XP windows prior to this with no problems. Very frustrated. Any thoughts.

You are allowed to use one license on two machines. Deactivate the XP version of Acrobat. Wipe the machine and install Windows 7, then re-install.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Windows Vista

The last version of Adobe I used to use is version 5. Of
course that is outdated, and it would appear that the files I
created with that version are not compatible with the Adobe Reader
9. So I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and

believe). When it says it is installing, after it reaches
99.blah-blah % it keeps asking me about a scanner being connected.
What the heck is that all about? It's weird. I connect my scanner
and it scans and I print a document to a Microsoft OneNote file,
after which when I close the scanner window the program is not
installed at all. I check my program list from my start menu to see
if it is there; and nothing. This thing is, why the heck doesn't it
just install the full trial program like any other normal
installation? I just want to be able to send word, excel, etc.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 and Windows XP SP3

Hi all;
My adobe Acrobat Pro 8 (last updated) no longer works well if I install
Windows XP PRO SP3 . In fact Adobe Acrobat works but is totally unable to recognize any printer and a pop windows invites me to install one . Really I have 5 printers configurerd on my computer.
If I uninstall SP3 and come back to SP2 the problem desappears .
A precizion, it does not happens on all my computers, only on my DEll D620 LAPTOP.

Hi Christian, so after installing SP3 you can go into your printers folder and see all your printers? Are these all "local" printers or "networked" printers?
Also, with SP3 installed, are you able to print from any other application (i.e. Notepad) to your printers?

Hi Medina ,
Acrobat 8 is an older version .It might not be compatible with Windows 7 .
Try upgrading it to the latest version .i.e Acrobat 11.0.10 or any higher versions than Acrobat 8.
Many folks have gotten AA8 to work on Win7. I have only heard of one report suggesting that AA8 will work on a 64-bit system, and I am not sure about the report. If you have a 64-bit system, you will likely need to upgrade, though if you play around you might be successful in finding a solution (Adobe will not help since it is not a certified platform, but some folks here might if they have been successful).
In any case, after installation you will need to do the updates for proper operation. If you can not do them from within Acrobat, you may have to download them fromhttp://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. You need to install the updates in ORDER unless indicated other wise. Reboots can typically be saved until the last update is installed.

As Acrobat 6 is a pretty older version and it will surely not work with windows 7 .
There is no possible way to make them run together .Either you need upgrade your Acrobat version that is compatible with windows 7 or downgrade your OS if you want to stick to Acrobat ^ .
However I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest Acrobat DC ,that is the latest version Adobe has launched and is compatible with the OS you use.
Also ,it is loaded with new features that will simplify your work and make it convenient .

Does Acrobat 4.x (full version, not Reader) work with Windows XP ?

It is not certified for XP. A few folks got it to work for earlier releases, typically having some problems with the installed version after some time. It might not work at all with SP3, but I don't remember hearing anything about AA4 for a long time (now 5 versions back).
The best answer is maybe, but expect some problems even if it seems to work.

How have you been trying to convert the web page to PDF?
Are you trying to convert to PDF directly via browsers or using "File > Create > PDF from Web Page" option in Acrobat.

I was able to install the program on my computer. (Only glitch was that it asked for a .dll file for Vista which I'm not running.
I was able to activate the program ok. When I try to convert any MS Office document to .pdf, it appears to start the process but just doesn't actually produce a .pdf file. No error message or anything...

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.

Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional w/ Windows 8.1

Previously I had Windows Vista Home Basic and everything ran smoothly with Acrobat. One thing that I loved was if I ran out of ink or could not print for some other reason, I had Adobe in the list of printers. Well Adobe is not showing up in the list of printers nor can I get it to show up there by trying several different things. My Adobe product is Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and my Windows system is now Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (though I’m starting to regret this). I’m seeing that 64 Bit is the problem but really? Is there no fix for this other than spending hundreds of dollars yet again? I’m beginning to think the computer and software is only for the very-very rich! Who can afford this stuff with its updates every year! They really know how to make a buck but what about the people who cannot afford to keep paying for these things? I know I could switch back but I did a clean install and in order to switch back, I’d have to find the Vista cd again (which I tried) or end up buying that again! Ugghh All I want is for the Adobe Acrobat to be available as a printer, the program itself works, just not what I guess Adobe is labeling as the “extras.” I have tried the below…but none of anything I have tried for the last three days has worked – not even talking to Adobe because they gave me the links to this forum and the online support – because their chat is for the rich who can purchase XI at 400-900 dollars! Did the “Customization Wizard” but the other file (Transformer Tool) would not load install – received message “Acrobat Transforms Update did not find any valid installed Acrobat products or you do not have sufficient privileges to update registry.” Grrrrr
Installed PDFFilter64Setup.msi --- seemed to accept it but I’m not sure it changed a thing!

Keep in mind that AA8 is just about prior 64-bit and has not been updated to maintain currency with the newer OS and platforms. As a minimum, you need to do the updates to AA8. The updates are important for 64-bit systems. You may or may not get it to work. If it looks like it, please report what parts work and what parts fail. The links try to address the issues, but we need to know what works after you do the updates. Does Acrobat open (your note suggests it does) and appear to work? Does Distiller open and is it able to convert a PS file to a PDF (it can only operate on EPS and PS files)? Is there an Adobe PDF printer present? Can you print to the printer with print-to-file selected? Is AcroTray running in the background.
With a new system, new software is commonly required. In fact, Win 8.1 may have problems with old hardware like VISTA came on. I still run a Dell system with XP on it. Most things run fine (though I have to get rid of malware and such periodically). So you don't really have to update with every change, but you may be on your own with some things -- or depend on forums like this to try to help.
