Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Excel problem

Just installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard - works okay from Word but when creating a pdf in Excel it creates a big black block over the data.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Cindy,
I have exactly the same problem.  XP, excel 2003 file, black box (almost seems to be "over top" with the data/file peeking out at the sides), no problems when working on another machine with same config., even when using the same shared excel file.  I have an even more mysterious part.  Some of the worksheets in my same file can be PDF'ed with no problem.  Other worksheets in the same file add the black box.  Tried copy/paste special to the excel file and putting it in a new file.  Tried changing all kinds of settings, in both excel file and Acrobat settings. Tried comparing settings against the other correctly working machine, to no end.  No idea where to go next with this one.

  • Adobe Acrobat  has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Just recently when I launch Acrobat X after about 10 seconds I get this error, "Adobe Acrobat has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  I can create PDFs and open PDFs for 10 seconds.  I've done a repair of Acrobat,  I tried a new user account, and  I disbled all my start up items.  I still get the same error  I have no clue what to do.  Any suggestions?

OK Will,  I pressed ctrl + Shift and double clicked on a desktop icon of a file.pdf I had saved there and it opened and is still open.  By not pressing ctrl + Shift the file opens then closes with that error in about10 seconds.
So now, what has that proved to us is the issue?  Doesn't that load Acrobat without all the extensions?
This issue just started a few days ago and all I remember installing on my computer were some Window's updates.

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Activation problem

I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard.  I purchased the original product several years ago and installed it on a personal laptop (Windows XP) in order to work from home.  The XP laptop has died and I'm trying to reinsatall Acrobat from the original disk on a new Windows 7 laptop.  After entering the Serial # and the Activation #, I cannot get the Authorization # in order to proceed with the installation.
I have not had any luck finding a phone number for anyone at Adobe to speak with, so I'm tossing my problem to the Adobe users.  Anyone care to pick up my fumble?

    Steve,
Thanks for your quick reply.  Before I try to uninstall my original version of Acrobat 7.0 . . . I have some concerns, if you care to weigh in.
After purchasing the Adobe 7.0 software, I installed it on a Dell 9300 laptop (Windows XP) and have been using it with no problems ever since.  Although the software still does everything I need it to, the laptop has been sick for some time.  I'm afraid that an attempt to uninstall the program may expedite it's total demise.  Should the uninstall process fail, I don't want to be caught in the position of NOT being allowed to reinstall it on my new Windows 7 laptop.
I no longer need the program to work from home since I am now retired.  However, I have spent many hours since retiring using the Adobe program to scan, edit, and file personal records and eliminate paper.
What options do I have for reinstalling the software IF the uninstall fails?  I have the original disk, key code, etc, but for fear of losing my authorization on the Windows XP laptop, I have not yet tried to install the program on a 2nd PC.
Anything you can do to keep this old brain from facing a big learning curve with the latest software is greatly appreciated.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 printing problems.

I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 with the following information ,and I have problems printing in system configurations (I have an old Brother HL-1060 Laser printer)....
When I use the following defaultprinting preferences, the pages come out blank when printing riffmci.pdf (That can be found on the net):
    - Resolution 600dpi
    - 1200x600dpi Support: Off.
When I set the resolution to 1200dpi and 1200x600dpi Support to on the printing completes successfully. Is this a known issue with Adobe Acrobat Reader printing engine??

  • Adobe Acrobat Elements Encountered an Problem and Needs To Close....

I have had problems with right clicking on documents and then choosing 'convert to PDF' or convert to 'PDF and Email' - the error message that I am getting are:  For:
'Convert to PDF' - Adobe Acrobat Elements has encountered a problem and needs to close
    and
'Convert to PDF and Email' - I get the Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close
What can I do to try to fix this?

    Acrobat Version is 8.1.7
    OS - Windows XP
It works if I open the document and then print to the Adobe PDF Printer, but I love being able to use the right click function!  It use to work, but all of a sudden I get this error!

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro setup problem

I have just replaced Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard with Adobe Acrobat X Pro. My computer runs with Windows XP Pro and  I use Microsoft Office Professional 2003. For some reason my mouse no longer works in Word. It works in every other program and works on the Toolbars and buttons within Word but is completed locked out of any document. I assume that Acrobat has altered a setting within Word during the setup process. Can you tell me the quick fix please?

Thanks for the suggestion. I cannot see how replacing the driver would make any difference when the mouse works everywhere except Word. I have narrowed down the problem. I use Microsoft Outlook for emails which in turn uses Word 2003 as the email editor. The mouse does not work in the text box to write emails. If I close Outlook I receive a message "Do you want to save the changes to PDFM Custom?" This never appeared in Acrobat 8. If I close down Outlook and open Word the mouse works as it should and can select text. It seems likely that Acrobat X Pro has created a conflict within Outlook and my money is on PDFM Custom. There is a new button in Outlook to attach as PDF. I have deselected that in the Outlook Tools/options and it seems that the mouse is now working in Outlook and I can run Word at the same time. Hurrah.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard setup problem

I am not sure this is the right forum for my problem: if it isn't, can anybody please point me to the right forum (or channel) to troubleshoot and solve my problem?
I attempted to install Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard (Italian) on several Windows XP clients, but I get a message saying "Impossibile accedere al percorso di rete \Startup" that sounds like "Impossible to access the network path \Startup".
I made several tests and I can confirm that:
    - The Office installation path exists in the registry and is correct
    - The user attempting to install have administrator rights
    - The folder \Startup exists inside the Office installation path and the user can access it
    - No roaming profiles are implemented
How can I troubleshoot and solve this issue?
    Regards

This is an error produced by Distiller in the creation process. You have a problem with the color profile in your job settings apparently - I can't really say much more on why this happened if you have not made changes. It is possible that the Reader installation caused a problem, but I would be surprised since Reader has nothing to do with PDF creation (however, it is not recommended to install both Reader and Acrobat due to various interactions). At this point, all I can recommend is to do a repair to Acrobat. You should be able to do this from the control panel>program and features (VISTA) or add/remove programs (XP).

  • Adobe Acrobat XI SDK Samples problem

I am having problems building and running SDK samples.
When built “out of the box”, the WebLinkDemo fails while getting HFT for AcroColor.
After some googling, I found Adobe Acrobat XI SDK Release Notes:
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/release- notes-acrobatxisdk.PDF
    Following their directions:
    deleted
    /D PI_ACROCOLOR_VERSION=0x00060000
    inserted
    /D READER_PLUGIN
WebLinkDemo builds OK, but required SnippetRunner fails to compile with multiple errors like:
    >c:\code\adobe\acrobat xi sdk\samples\snippetrunner\sources\snippets\shared\acetranspdetextcolorsnip.cpp(60): error C2065: 'PDEContentGetNumElemsSELPROTO' : undeclared identifier
SELPROTO seems to be the commot suffix.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

Perhaps a little more context. You should understand that the Acrobat SDK is a tool for encouraging people to buy Acrobat - especially the consumers of plug-ins.
Reader plug-ins can be made, subject to technical limitations, but Adobe do not especially like the lost sales of Acrobat this may represent.
In addition to purchasing Acrobat, you will need to buy a Reader integration key, after negotatiation. Approval is not automatic!  There are also two scales of fees, one for regular Reader plug-ins and one for security related plug-ins, for which Adobe has a much higher fee and demands much more oversight.
"How much does a Reader Integration key cost?
Reader Integration keys are only available to strategic partners based on a negotiated price. If you are developing a digital rights management (DRM) Adobe Reader plug-in, the standard (non-DRM) RIKLA contract does not apply. Adobe does offer a DRM agreement specifically for developers building such Adobe Reader plug-ins. The current fee structure for the DRM RIKLA includes a $50,000 annual fee and a 5.5% revenue royalty."
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/reader/ikla.html
So, yes, to experiment with plug-ins, whether for Acrobat or eventually for Reader, please listen to what we are telling you and if you want to do this, buy Acrobat.

  • Distiller cannot find icc profiles. please reinstall adobe acrobat to correct this problem on Pro X

I am using Adobe CS6 web & design premium.
The problem came about when I was viewing a pdf, while trying to use Wolfram Demonstrations Project http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/index.html.
When I was trying to install the CD, a lot of windows of the icc profles pop-up error kept popping up non-stop. I have no idea why this happens and I think this is a bug in Acrobat Pro X.
Does anyone know how solve this problem?

Did you try reinstalling Adobe Acrobat? I'd just start with a REPAIR (Help menu).

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 License Problems

We have successfully installed Acrobat Pro 9.3 on several Windows XP machines, but on others when we try to install we get an error stating that we have an invalid serial number.  It is an enterprise serial number, and like I said does work for most machines.
Any ideas on why the license works for some but not others.

They are setup the same.  The weird thing is I can install Adobe Acrobat 8 just fine on the machines that will not allow me to install 9.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Installation Problem

Hi, I just bought Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.  Cannot install it as I get a message that my serial # is for an upgrade version only of Adobe Acrobat Pro.  I also have Adobe Reader 9 in my computer.  What is the most economical way to install it without paying for further upgrades and/or versions? Many thanks, Oscar.

The most economical way is to return your purchase, get a refund, and then purchase the full version (somewhere?).

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional - Crash Problem

The error appears when I open Acrobat, but also if I open any folder containing a PDF. The error reads "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 Professional cannot continue. Please re-install the application and try again." If Okay is clicked Acrobat shuts down. Have tried repair and uninstall / reinstall. Noted on some forumn web pages that I need to remove the Adobe foldes before reinstall, bu tI could not find them.  Any suggestions?

The Adobe folder should be under Program Files on your system. On my Win7 system they are in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 Installation Problem

I've had Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 running fine for several years on XP Pro.  Our company rolled out upgraded hardware with a new image about a year ago, and I cannot successfully install 8 on any of the units.  Most recent issue, using CD, install went up to accepting end user license. I accepted and then installation froze and I had to End Program.  When I try to launch now, Getting Started splash screen comes up then program freezes and terminates.  It seems like a permissions/security issue, can anybody assist?

I assume the new system is Win7 and most likely a 64-bit system. If so, you may just have to upgrade to AA XI. Folks have gotten AA8 to work on a Win7 32-bit system. You might be successful if you download the updates for AA8 and install those. I think it took at least AA8.1 to work with a 64-bit XP.

  • Adobe Acrobat Custom Install Configuration Problem

I am trying to deploy Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional using the Adobe Customization Wizard 8. I noticed that if I just install the product off the CD, while accepting the defaults, the installation shows up under Add/Remove Programs as Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and has an installation size of just over 1 GB.
I also customized the installation using the Customization Wizard and after that install I noticed that the application shows up in Add/Remove Programs as Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional English, French, Deutch. In addition, the installation size is almost 2 GB.
What am I missing in my customization? Is there a setting for additional languages that I am not seeing somewhere that also uses twice the amount of hard drive space?

There is a help document from adobe regarding Exit code 6 and Error: DW050
Here are the links for those documents : (These documents are for CS5, CS5.5 and applicable to CS6 also)

If all other applications are running fine, than try the Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any leftover files from this link( http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html ) and than try to Install Acrobat XI Pro on your computer.
