Adobe Acrobat 6.0 not compatible with windows 7

Hello,
Some years ago I bought Adobe Acrobat 6.0 which I placed on my old computer. Now I have a new computer with windows 7 and the acrobat 6.0 version apears not compatible with this windows version. Does anyone know a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Best wishes,
Arjen

If you have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate, you can download Windows XP Mode and attempt to install Adobe Acrobat 6 in the virtual environment. Windows XP Mode uses Windows Virtual PC to run a full Windows XP Professional 32 bit environment virtually, and it is a free download. A limitation you may encounter is that the PDF printer will not be accessible from your Windows 7 programs, only from programs which are installed in the Windows XP Mode environment.
This subject has been discussed on several forums, and while Acrobat version 6 does install and work for some users, the PDF printer does not install on Windows 7. Version 9 was the first version which was compatible with Windows 7, so if this is critical to you, you should consider upgrading to the latest version of Acrobat.

adobe acrobat 5 is not compatible with windows 7.  need a replacement that will work.  any suggestions.

I would recommend Acrobat 10.  You can find more details as well as a trial at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html?promoid=JOLIR.  It should be noted though that Acrobat 5 is too old of a version to qualify for the upgrade price I am sorry.

  • Adobe Acrobat 5.0 not compatible with Windows Vista

On installing this software on my new Windows Vista, incompatibility message says I need to install kernel-mode print driver. Where can I get this from. No luck with the Adobe website technical support!

Then you will need to purchase an upgrade to the current version 8.1.
Note that Acrobat Standard would be a downgrade; to retain all your
current features you'd need Acrobat Professional.
Note that there was no product called Acrobat Writer, if you want to
be exact. And you would normally have only one of "Acrobat" and
"Acrobat Reader". To make it even more confusing, "Acrobat Reader" was
    renamed "Adobe Reader".

  • Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional compatible with Windows 7?

I've ordered Acrobat XI Pro, but it may be a week or two before I receive it.  I need to make some pdf files from WordPerfect files and I already have Acrobat 7.0 Pro.  I was hoping to be able to use the 7.0 until I receive the version XI.

You can install AA7 on WIn7, 32 or 64-bit. However, the print driver will not install and AcroTray will not work (at least on the 64-bit machine). To Solve the issue temporarily, install another PS driver (there are several for HP printers and probably other PS printers available in the system). Be sure to use a color PS driver if you want color -- I happened to pick up a B&W PS driver when I tried it. Then change the name to Adobe PDF (I think that was still the printer name for AA7) and change the port of the printer to FILE. To create a PDF just print to the new Adobe PDF printer. If you have a compatible version of WORD, you should still be able to even use PDF Maker with this driver. After the file is saved, open it in Distiller to create the PDF. This worked for me in a test, but is extra work for regular work and the driver may not pick up all of the normal issues of the Adobe driver.

  • Adobe Acrobat 5 not compatible with Windows 8

When I try to open up files saved in Adobe Acrobat 5 my new computer with Windows 8 gives me a message that they are not compatible with Windows 8. What do I need to do to be able to open these files on my new computerwth Windows 8?

Did you install reader or such on Win8? AA5 is not even compatible with Win7, though it can be made to work with work arounds for the 32-bit version. I suspect you also have a 64-bit system, which I think is totally incompatibile with AA5. Download the Reader XI and try to open the PDFs with that. I suspect they will open fine.
If you want to create PDFs, you will need to purchase AA XI.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 is not compatible with Windows 7

Acrobat Pro 9 is not compatible with Windows 7.  How do I upgrade my version?
    Thanks,
    John

Where did you get that information (other than Win 7 is not listed in the compatibility list)? I have been using AA9 on Windows 7 for several years (it is a 32-bit system). Did you try to install it or some other issue crop up? You may need to be sure you install the updates, but otherwise it should work. Even folks with AA8 have been successful on Win 7 (at least that is what they have reported), though they are likely to have some minor problems at times.
My Win7 came with Acrobat 9 when Win 7 first came out and has worked fine. If you have upgraded OFFICE to 2010 or later, then you would only be able to print, not use PDF Maker.
That being said, it is still a good idea to go ahead and upgrade. AA9 is the oldest version qualifying for the upgrade to AAXI.

  • ACROBAT XI - DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS VISTA

WHY DOESN'T THE COMPANY STATE ACROBAT XI PRO DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS VISTA.
THE COMPANY NEEDS TO WARN PEOPLE.  THE ACROBAT TECH SUPPORT FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT IT'S NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS VISTA.

The Acrobat website and the box lists the compatible OSs. You want Adobe to list all of the incompatible OSs---going back how far.
    Acrobat XI Pro system requirements
These system requirements are for Adobe® Acrobat® XI Pro software, v11.0. Because system requirements change with each software update, refer to the Release Notes for your software version for the latest information on supported operating systems and browsers.

    Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3 for 32 bit or Service Pack 2 for 64 bit; Windows Server® 2003 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit); or Windows 8 (32 bit and 64 bit)

  • Is there an update to make Acrobat Pro 6.0 compatible with Windows 7?

I have been using Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 on a Windows XP OS, but as of 4/8/2014 XP is no longer supported. So, I did Easy Transfer from XP to a computer using Windows 7. When I installed my Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 software on the Windows 7 computer, I received a message that it was not compatible with Windows 7. Is there an update or work around that will allow me to use the 6.0 version with my Windows 7 computer?  This is software I've used daily for years and need it, but can't afford to buy new version right now. Any help would be appreciated.

I am suggesting you keep the XP computer permanently disconnected, and have your new computer connected to the internet. You can move files between them with a memory stick.
(Worth considering that Windows is not the only thing with security issues which need fixing. By continuing to run an old Acrobat you have been deprived of security patches for many years. Only Acrobat X and XI are in the "currently supported" category. You should consider this carefully for all your apps, the bad guys could attack ANYTHING.)

  • Captivate is not compatible with Windows Vista RTM

I can confirm that Captivate 2 is not compatible with Windows
Vista (RTM Final MSDN). I have been testing it on several systems
with various versions of Vista. It had partial success with RC2,
but with RTM it crashes quite frequently (when vista is drawing new
windows). I can't tell however if captivate is directly responsible
or if it is perhaps an incompatible version of Flash (current using
latest version 9 beta) that is to blame. However, since Vista is at
RTM then I would say that it is now the responsibility of Adobe to
fix the compatibility issues with a new update. Technically vista
is not due to domestic market until january 07, however businesses
will be able to purchase vista in only two weeks, and as Captivate
is generally used for business/training use i would certainly think
that it should be of high importance that these issues are
    resolved.
Can anyone else comment on their experiences with Captivate
    and Vista?

    Hi cptv8
I appreciate your taking the time to report back your
findings about Vista. Perhaps it will be helpful to those that are
    early adopters.
    You stated:
Technically vista is not due to domestic market until january

You have a valid point. However, you are making it in the
wrong venue. How? Well, Adobe doesn't normally make it a habit of
visiting the peer-to-peer support forums. This means users
supporting users. If you are concerned that Adobe is aware of this
issue, you should really consider using a different channel. The
Wish Form. And you can easily get there by simply
    clicking
    here.
Now I don't claim to be a guru of anything in particular, but
it seems to me that businesses are very slow to adopt things. They
tend to take a very pragmatic and slow approach. Many are just now
making the leap to XP! So I'm guessing that Vista will be slow to
gain ground. I'm also confident that the Captivate team is well
aware of the Vista issues and will be addressing them as best they
    can.
    Sincerely... Rick

It should install and it should run but, because of the age discrepancy, CS is not officially supported by Adobe on Vista.
