Adobe Acrobat 8.2: Crash When Searching

Using Acrobat 8 Professional on Vista Business. When I search, the program crashes:
Adobe Acrobat 8.2 has stopped working
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Never a solution, though.
It is licensed.
Suggestions?

First I'm assuming the printer works with every other program OK, is the true?
Second type a small note using TextEdit and save it as a .pdf to your desktop.  Does it print OK?
Third connect your printer directly to your computer via USB, Firewire etc. and try printing.  Does it print OK?
Forth there are two ways to print a document. Choose File>Print and in the "Copies & Pages" section choose "Advanced" choose (if the upper left) "print as image".  Does it print now?
Fifth try a different printer, connected directly to the computer.  Does it print now?
I use Mac OS X 10.4.11 with several printers all day long. Usually #4 does the trick.  Let me know.

Please do check the Performance of your computer at that point of time .
As some time the usage also causes the issue that makes a software stopped working .
In order to chek the system performance , check the Task Manager and go to Performance tab .
If still the issue persists , try wih the following link :

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Crashes When Scanning with Canon DR-4010C Native Interface

When doing a custom scan in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.2, I need to be able to show the Canon DR-4010C native interface so that it will auto-crop when I am scanning small documents such as receipts, etc.  I have another model scanner that does it automatically (a Canon Dr-2510C) but I need that same functionality when I scan with the 4010.  I can see the setting when I configure Adobe to use the scanner's native interface however when I choose "auto detection" on the size (in the scanner's interface) and press scan, Adobe immediately crashes.  Please help!

Also, your log says: Acrobat.exe, version: 9.0.0.332
Looks like you have not updated Acrobat after install. The current version is 9.4.6. Also try updating Acrobat, Help->Check for updates

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Standard crashes when we create pdf from scanner

We are using adobe acrobat XI standard, version 11.0.06
    WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit
    scanner: Xerox documate 4799
Acrobat crashes when we create pdf from scanner

Spent quite a while on this one..  My problem was related to twain drivers which reside in c:\windows\twain_32.  I'm running windows 7 64-bit.  First it's usually possible to scan in windows 7 maybe vista and from adobe without even using twain (using WIA).  So try renaming the twain_32 folder to _twain_32 and see what happens...  If that stops the crashing look at the contents of the twain folder.  I had a Dell folder for some printer I wasn't even using.  That was causing the crash. I removed the dell folder and renamed the twain folder back to twain_32.  Now everything works as designed.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Crashes when trying to save pdf as Word doc.

It starts to save the document and says page pass 1 of 5 for example then says adobe acrobat has stopped working.  How do I fix this problem?

Found this in answer to a similar issue regarding crash on print. And my issue has been resolved ...
To avoid this crash  try this workaround.
remove adobe PDF PPD from the following folders:
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard crashes when editing a document

I have a user that has Adobe Acrobat 9 standard, version is 9.2.0.124.  Whenever he goes to edit the document Adobe hangsup and then crashes.  This is the error he gets from the event views.
Faulting application Acrobat.exe, version 9.2.0.124, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x65537661.
I did an uninstall and reinstall of Adobe recently to try and clear the error.  Before that he was getting a message about admplugin.apl being the cause of the crash.  But well it's still happening after that.  Anyone know what I can do to resolve this for him?
Did an update again, but still getting the crashes this time the message is.
Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 9.5.1.283, faulting module admplugin.apl, version 9.5.1.283, fault address 0x000834bb.
So the pluginfile is still the cause of it.

You might try removing the plugin according to the post at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/393593. You might just want to move it to a temporary location and see if that solves the problem. You may need to run a Repair later, but give this a try in the meantime.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X Crashes when Trying to Scan to PDF - Epson Perfection v30 on Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 with Acrobat Pro 10.0.0
I have a Epson Perfection v30 Scanner installed. I open Acrobat, and when I select Scan to PDF, pick the v30 Scanner, and start the scan, it does actually start and complete the scanning process. Does anybody have any ideas? Is anybody using the Epson Perfection v30 scanner?

Any ideas?   there was an update on adobe dated 2/25/13.   Perhaps if I uninstall it?   I need advice on how to uninstall. When I view updates and click on it, and then click uninstall, it goes back to the Program Screen, in Control, for all programs. Then do I click on Acrobat and Uninstall?  I am nervous about doing this. Thanks

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.3 Crashes when creating PDF

I have started having a problem with Acrobat Pro crashing every time I try and create a PDF from a file or webpage. I have not found this on the forums previously and was curous as to what may be causing the issue. I have been doing regular updates to my Adobe products as well as the Microsoft OS and applications. I presume it to be related to an update, since I do not remember this being an issue previously,  but I am not sure which one it could be.
Has anyone had this issue occur and how was it resolved, save rolling back to a restore point.
    Thanks in advance
    System Info:
OS Name    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 standard - crash when print pdf with watermark

it is the EXACT same issue as this:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402928&sliceId=1
the problem is, the steps indicated here to fix the problem in solution 1, do not apply to STANDARD, even though it says it does.
    Solution 3 works just fine.
The problem is this, I do not want my watermarks at 100% opacity. Every solution I have found says "Select PDF Optimizer from the Advanced menu.
I do not see that menu/option anywhere in acrobat 8 standard. I need a fix for this issue, and printing a watermark at %100 opacity or getting a new printer isn't a solution.
Apparently if I could just run the pdf optimizer i could fix this issue, but its nowhere to be found.
I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks in advance

I believe the PDF optimizer is only in Professional. I don't have 8 on
my machine now. There may have been something under the file menu that
did some optimization called Reduce File size, but I don't know if it
will fix your problem or what version numbers had the option.

  • Adobe Acrobat V9 Professional crashes or causes PDFs to be corrupted when using Dragon software

Adobe Acrobat V9 Professional crashes or causes PDFs to be corrupted when using Dragon software. I use Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 to assist me when I add comments to a PDF. I also use it when making additions or changes to text.  When I use the two software programs together, Acrobat constantly crashes.  If it doesn't crash, an error occurs trying to save the file.  I entered 988 comments into a 158-pg PDF, only to find the file was corrupted and couldn't be printed. I also could not see the list of comments (click Show Comments).
These problems do not occur if I don't use both products simultaneously.

Never overwrite a clip that is used in Pr.  Give the
modified/corrected/updated clip a new name and import that into your Pr
project.  Then Alt+Drag the new clip on top of the old clip in the
timeline to replace the clip instance.
If import-then-drag isn't your style, then right-clicking the original
clip in the Project panel and selecting Replace Footage will accomplish
    the same thing.
This important rule applies in Encore as well.
