Adobe Acrobat 8 crashes when printing!
My client has been experiencing this problem before and a reimage of the computer was needed to keep it from coming back up. It recently came back. I know there has to be an easier way than a complete reroll of the system. She is the only one in the company that gets this error, and there are at least a hundred of Adobe Acrobat 8 users here.
When you open a pdf file (local or shared)and you print it using Acrobat 8.1, the printer (HP Laserjet 2015p with updated drivers) runs and prints the document, but unfortunately a "Windows debug/don't send/send error" bug pops up with the filename being acrobat.exe. When I click don't send, a memory error shows up right after and when I click OK, Acrobat closes. This happens consistently. When there are 3 or more pages and the error pops up, it only prints the first 2 before stopping. It seems to also occur if you click cancel instead of print from the print properties windows. Since that also occurs, it leads me to believe that it is the program and/or system that is causing the issue, since it could be any printer chosen before printing or cancelling the window.
I've uninstalled the printers and restarted, then uninstalled Acrobat and restarted. Deleted the necessary folders (adobe and flexnet in All Users and the adobe folder in program files). Then I reinstalled acrobat first, and reinstalled the printers after a prompted restart. The error still occurs.
The OS is Windows XP SP2. The client logs in under our company domain as a user, so it is not a local profile being used. I briefly tested the Administrator account with one of the user's pdfs. No error occured as of yet, so it kind of makes me believe that if I were to delete the profile under documents and settings, and make her log back in, the issue may be fixed and labeled as a user account error. Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution? Of course all help is greatly appreciated.
The messages I've seen had to do with "slow operation" not "crashing" but you mention a domain login... so this may help
Set the DEFAULT printer to a local, not network, printer... even if you have to define a "dummy" printer
There is evidently a bug in Acrobat when a network printer is the default... so may be worth a try to see if it fixes your problem

Adobe Reader crashes when printing
Dear sir,
Our CEO has an issue with Adobe Reader crashing when he tries to print. His Operating System is Windows Vista x64.

Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Karel Driessorry will not be able to attach the pdf file - The file isn't damaged as it will print from other printers as they all use the same print drivers as they print through a print server.
I have also attached to the printer off-line and used new printer drivers from HP and it still fails 20 page pdf and stops at page 9 saying cannot extract correct font.
the file was created in Quark express ver 8.
It is happening to a handfull of people -

On many documents that I try and print from the internet such as receipts, conformations, etc, using my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional printer, the PDF shows some if not all the letters as symbols. I think it might be font issue, but do not know how to fix the problem. Any suggestions.
On another issue, can a Tiff file of my signature be inserted in a PDF?Hello,
For 1st issue please follow the steps in given article:
Missing or Garbled Text Printing from IE9 to Adobe PDF Printer
For 2nd issue:
You can create a signature appearance:
For example, you can include your scanned signature.
1 (Optional) Save the desired image on a page by itself, and convert the page to PDF.
2 Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat (Mac OS) > Preferences, and select Security.
3 Click New, and type a title.
4 (Optional) Select Imported Graphic, click File, and select the desired file.
5 Specify options as desired.

Adobe Reader 10.1.2 crashes when printing, worked OK w/ 10.1.1
On a Windows 7 (32-bit? Build 6.1.7601) machine with all updates installed, Adobe Reader crashes on print with version 10.1.2. This problem did not occur with version 10.1.1. I'm including a screenshot here, but to help those searching: APPCRASH AcroRd32.exe, Exception code: c0000005.
Note that this post seems to be describing the same problem, but has fewer dtails: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4135936#4135936Windows server 2003 R2 64-bit SP2
Adobe 10.1.1 or Adobe10.1.2
None of the workarounds work for us.
I have reinstalled Adobe Reader multiple time and applied the 92870 patch, tried all the work abounds with absolutely no effect.
I can’t even get into the preferences to disable protected mode and Adobe crashes as soon as you press the print button. I have tried various local printers as default or network printers as default with no effect, tried assigning share names to all printers and disconnecting all printers with no effect.
This is a very aggravating issues effecting 12,000+ users in my organization.
Please develop a fix sooner than later, one that actually works and one that doesn’t not require 12,000+ clients to make a local change.
Thanks. -
Bad crash when printing to pdf in Morningstar software - is it a 64 bit problem?
Had bad crash when printing to pdf in Morningstar Principia Pro software - is it a 64 bit compatability problem? All other software I have can print
to Acrobat pdf, but in Morningstar the Window 7 PC freezes and not even Task manager can
unfreeze the computer. Acrobat worked fine in my old XP 32 bit PC when printing from Morningstar. Recently a webinar using
an Adobe webinar software I was told I must only use a 32 bit browser, so I suspect Acrobat is incompaitble with my new 64 bit PC. Work around solution is to print to Microsoft XPS and then convert to Acrobat but I want to use Acrobat only! Is there a patch for people using 64 bit PCs?
Can someone at Adobe respond to me, please? I have used Acrobat for over 10 years and am very loyal.Michael: I have tested other programs ability to print to Acrobat and also tested ability for other programs to
export to Excel or Word. The only crash is when printing an Acrobat pdf from Morningstar Principia Pro I get a bad crash. The work around is to print to XPS and then convert the XPS file to Acrobat pdf. To get out of the crash which can't be fixed by Windows Task Manager shut down, is to open the printer file and tell the printer to delete the pending print job.
I'm using latest Version 9.3.4 Standard Acrobat; Win 7 Pro 64 bit, 10 g of RAM, HPE 390t standalone PC, no networking. -
I am running 16 24' Imac core duo computers in my lab. Printing is managed by my G5 Server. All apple software is updated We are currently using Adobe CS, (waiting for CS3). Adobe products with exception of acrobat quit when printing. In my Imac G5 lab this is not occuring. All users must have accounts, home directeries are located on the server, each user has 2 gigs of space. Server has 6 gigs of RAM each Imac has 3 gigs of RAM. If you login as admin on workstation, printing is fine. Adobe apps quit when printing, project will print but apps quit. Already depressed cause my Packers did not make the playoffs
Could use some help (both me and my Packers:))
thanksHi
I think I have a solution to your problem – stop supporting the Packers and start supporting the Steelers. Once that happens you’ll find that all Adobe apps wont quit and will print OK. -
Acrobat crashes when closing a document.
I have developed a simple Acrobat Addin, which adds a menu item and a toolbar button. The active document will be closed when this menu item or toolbar button is clicked. The document is closed using the function "AVDocClose".
Acrobat crashes when AVDocClose is invoked from toolbar button and works fine when invoked from menu item. This happens only when "Show each document in its own window" is checked and in the version 8.0 Professional. Works fine in 7.0. The crash has occured in Acrobat.dll.
Is this crash a known Acrobat issue in 8.0?
OS : Windows XP
Thanks,
ParthaThe only plug-ins installed are the default ones that came installed with Acrobat. All of these are developed by Adobe, so i'm assuming your are not referring to these as "3rd party". All custom plug-ins have been uninstalled with the exception of the Stamper sample to test this theory. Quite literally this can be reproduced by adding the following code to the "ToolActivate" method in StamperUI.cpp. This is the method that is wired into both the MenuItem and Button click events by default in this sample. When this code is executed by a MenuItem event, no issue at all. When this code is executed by a button click event, an exception is thrown from Acrobat.exe. Note that the exception is not thrown from the ToolActivate method, it is thrown at some point after this method completes.
AVDoc avDoc = AVAppGetActiveDoc();
if (avDoc != NULL)
AVDocClose(avDoc, true);
As you can see, no objects are being acquired in this code. If AVDocClose is not executed, no issues at all. Although that goes against what i am attempting to do (as a result of a Button click, i need to be able to close the AVDoc).
Any thoughts as to root cause of this issue?
Karl, i really appriciate your assistance! Thanks. -
Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended | Print Option | Enable Flash Object Issue
Hi,
We are facing some problems with Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended Print Option.
We had a requirement to embed interactive Flash graphs in the PDF file, user will interact with these graphs and whatever graph he plotted, the data for it will be saved in PDF text field, so that on the next launch we can fetch the data to the flash from PDF text fields, so that user can see what changes he did last time. This works great, we are able to successfully comminicate from PDF to flash and then from Flash to PDF.
Please note that, PDF can have multiple graphs on different pages.
The issue we are facing is when we interact with the graphs and then try to print the PDF, in that case only the currently active graph or flash file (The page on which user is currently on) will be seen enabled in the print, the graphs on the other pages, which are not currently visible are seen in disabled state hence the data on it does not get printed.
We have also used the "RMA.activated = true;" command, still no success. Please refer to the screen shots below to understand the issue in more detail..
Flash Embed Options:
In the Print Option, it looks disabled:
The required/desired output is as follows:
We want all Graphs to get printed in enabled state and with the data user had entered. Please do let me know, if there is any workaround to achive this functionality.
Thanks,

Aptara, Pune.Which version. I think it is a minimum of AA9.2 that is needed for X64. Anyway, you should probably either open Acrobat and do the update (help menu) or download all of the updates from Adobe>downloads>updates and install them in order. The current version is AA9.3.4.

I have an iMac and use Adobe Acrobat Pro to edit and merge PDFs. I have had a problem with it constantly crashing. I have removed the program and reinstalled it, but the problem continues. Adobe also crashes when scrolling through a PDF file. When the program freezes I have to force quit and start over again.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

This should not, in any way, affect a crash on old vintage pre-2006 versions
however a crash or failure in an application could be checked out by looking
into the Console utility's crash logs, in approximate Time/Day it happened,
to see the report. That may tell an expert what went wrong, if you posted it
into a new topic thread. There are people here who could resolve an issue.

Indesign CC 2014 crashes when printing to Fiery server
This is to remind Adobe that issues printing to Fiery print servers from Indesign CC 2014 (10.0 or 10.1) on Mac have not been resolved.
A patch has been provided here: InDesign & Illustrator | Crash while printing to Fiery RIP | MacOS --- however, the problem persists after patching. I should note that the fix at that link only pertains to Indesign 10.0. If you download Indesign 2014 from Creative Cloud you would, at this time, receive 10.1. That script will break 10.1 completely. There is no fix for 10.1.
The original thread for this discussion is here: Indesign CC 2014 crashes when printing It's marked 'Answered' and methinks the ongoing conversation there has been over-looked.
I am bumping this topic to keep the conversation fresh. If anyone else has found solutions to printing to Fiery from Indesign 10.x either by updating Fiery directly or with additional scripts or workarounds, please share them here.
I could publish one of my 10.1 crash logs if I could be advised which pieces are most important, or how to post the unabridged without spamming the forum.
That's the constructive bit. Here's my rant...
After speaking to Adobe on the phone, they tell me this isn't resolved yet because it affects only a small subset of people. I called some peers at other agencies across my region and learned they all use Indesign with Fiery servers. We are not an isolated few! (those fortunate individuals I spoke to are still using CS6 -- and I received some jovial ribbing for having my on-going CC subscription.) I have a lot of printing to do on the Fiery now that these projects are finishing, but i'm held up while down-saving these projects to be used in CC (9.x). Its frustrating, its time-consuming, and its simply unacceptable to CC subscribers as we move in to 2015. I urge Adobe to work with EFI to solve this problem once and for all. This is a user to user forum with "some" Adobe staff participation, report bugs at this link

I've been using Macs since 1984. Have been using Xerox Phaser printers for ten years. But with the last update to OS 10.6.8 last summer, I've had problems with crashing when printing. My MacPro crashes when printing via ethernet prot with Xerox Phaser 6360DN or when the printer warms up. Worked fine with OS 10.6.7. Internet postings suggest this is a common problem for all Mac users with Xerox Phaser printers. Apple put out an update to 10.6.8 to address the problem. I downloaded it but it did not solve the problem. Have tried all the Xerox drivers along with Apple drivers. Can't solve the problem. Xerox says it's an Apple problem. Does anyone KNOW how to solve the problem?
