Adobe Acrobat 8 Std: want Search on Panel

Long story why, but my coworker has 8.1.2 and I have 8.1.0, in case that explains the difference. We remember and desire being able to open up a Search as a side panel, with the binocular icon appearing on the panel, but now can only seem to get the Search up in a separate window. The reason Search on Panel is desired is to easily and quickly review all search matches. How can we get the Search icon to appear on the side panel, with which to open a Search results panel? Does that behavior differ between 8.1.0 and 8.1.2? Thanks.

The search panel does show up in a separate window. At the top of the search panel is an option to Arrange Windows. When you select that, the search pane sits right next to the PDF window, so that it appears to be. As far as I can tell there is no way to get the Search option in the new side panel of options.

I'm looking for a way to have multiple shortcut toolbar lines in Adobe Acrobat X std. I don't like the drop down tool bar that is present. I use multiple addins in my toolbar and I want to see them all up in the toolbar for easy use. Is there a way to add multiple lines of toolbars instead of having the drop down overflow box?

Will Adobe Acrobat X Std work on an XP system?

I own Adobe Acrobat X Std for my desktop that runs Windows 7. My old laptop is running Windows XP.
Can I download X to my laptop without updating Acrobat 5? I have been loading updates for 2.5 hrs and it is still working! If Acrobat 5 cannot be upgraded directly to X Std. Can I remove it from the laptop and download the highest version that is compatible as I have been using and upgrading Adobe Acrobat for years, (I have been upgrading from version to version over the years).

Updating Acrobat 5 will not install Acrobat X as updates are for that particular version only. It has to be a new installation, yes Acrobat X standard is compatible to run on Windows XP with Service Pack 3 for 32 bit or Service Pack 2 for 64 bit.

Adobe Acrobat 9 STD, commenting toolbar

Hi,
I've got an issue, when trying to review and comment on a PDF in internet explorer, the commenting toolbar doesn't appear. therefore i cannot comment and review pdf's.
O.S. is Windows 7.
Internet explorer 8.
Adobe Standard 9.
I've done some troubleshooting by install Adobe 7 STD and Adobe 9 PRO, Both of these the commenting toolbar shows but not with Adobe 9 STD.
I've been struggling with this for the last two days, please help.

Do you know what the logic was to make such a dramatic change - since all the previous versions of Acrobat permitted the forms toolbar in the regular view? They must have thought this format was better. Any ideas?

Adobe Acrobat 9 Std help needed

I am trying to create a .pdf document from an .xlsx document that has pie charts in it. I am able to create the .pdf document in AA 8 std with the pie charts, but when creating it in AA 9 std the pie charts do not show up. I am using WinXP. Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Sure...sorry about that..I do not have both on the same computer. I have AA 8 Std and another person has AA 9 Std. The version of Excel is 2007 SP2. The method used is:
Click "Office Button"
Choose "Save As>Adobe PDF"
Click "Convert to PDF" button
Click "Yes" on "Do you want to proceed ......without tags?"
Click "Save"

Adobe Acrobat X Std. How do I save modified pages with comments only?

I have a 500 page document which I edited few pages. I was wondering if there is a way to save (in pdf format) only the modified pages that includes the text comments + add file or pictures.
I would appreaciate any assistance with this question.

You'll want to ask in the forum for Acrobat. This one is for the free Reader which cannot do any of this.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Std - Problem with Outlook Addon

Hello everybody,
i got a serious problem with my AA9 pdf addon for MS Outlook 2007.
I usually convert my emails to PDF hitting the pdf addon icon on outlook, when i chose my destination path (//server/mails/) sometimes the pdf output works fine, but a second after, the file is removed from acrobat.
This wont appens with 8.1 version.
This problem appens 1 time every 10/20 saving process, others works fine.
I've tryed to update my version to 9.4.2 from 9.2.0 but nothing changed. Also tried to contact Acrobat tech support but they have no clue about this problem and they suggested to open a topic in the general forum.
I'm using windows xp sp3 and the shared path is on a linux server (it works fine).
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

I've asked to my colleague to try to save in local but it's really slow his work.
Btw i can surelly answer to other points:
The account type is IMAP configured on MS Outlook 2007 SP2
The number of messages is about 5 every 60 saving process.
Please find attached sceenshot. As you can see the langueage is Italian, but i can help on translating every checkbox, or, you could just compare with a ENG version of AA9.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Std - Excel to PDF (Row breaks)

When creating a PDF document from an .xlsx document some of the rows are broken in half because they have to go to the next page. Is there anyway to fix that? OS: WinXP

Make your pdf printer instance the default printer. Then put in a page break before the row that breaks things up in the output.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Download Error

When I download and extract adobe acrobat 9 std files, it says I don't have enough storage. I have a yoga II and should have plenty of storage. Is there something else I need to do?

Could you please share the exact error message that appears when extracting Acrobat std files.
You might try emptying the TEMP folder by typing '%temp%' in the Run window (Press Windows + R) and then check again.
What version of OS are you working on? Is it compatible with Acrobat 9 std?

Adobe Acrobat 9 still can't convert Word 2003 files?

HAS THIS PROBLEM BEEN FIXED? Fujitsu's pdf printer S1500 comes with a full OEM version Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard, which I just installed. Immediately it caused problems with Word 2003, just as the above discussion link illustrates. Clearly that's a problem with Adobe Acrobat not being able to read SOME fonts. Where is there any bug fix for this?
Why would a customer want to upgrade Adobe Acrobat, if he can't get font support? In my case, it appears that GREEK FONTS are not supported, which makes no sense, if the fonts are installed in Windows. The pdf-converter knock-offs like Smart Creator PDF Pro can convert just fine -- so why not Adobe Acrobat? Who wants to pay more for Adobe, if it is worse?
So again I ask -- has this problem been fixed? Very unprofessional, if the answer is 'no'.
Very unproductive, too. I spent hours on computer crashes, reinstall uninstall detect and repair, just like the posters in that thread above, from a year ago. Businesses don't need this kind of aggravation. IS ADOBE EVEN LISTENING? Very unprofessional, if the answer is 'no'.

First, this is a user-to-user forum and not one for Adobe. They are sometimes around, but not on a regular basis. The lengthy discussion in the link did not apparently get folks to a solution. I did not see your handle in the discussion.
Two common errors were suggested, one the color setup and the other was font errors. Keep in mind that just because you have a font, it might not be able to be embedded in the file. That is due to copyright restrictions. The font file has to have the permission built into it to be used. That may be the case for any font that you download from another source. Most of the MS fonts are licensed for embedding.
Also, just because you have a font with the same name, does not mean it is the same. There are often multiple versions of the fonts, some that are useful and others not.
Out of the linked discussion, I have no idea what issues you are having -- there were many. I use AA9 with OFFICE 2007 and have no problems. I also use AA8 with OFFICE 2007. For AA7 I have a machine that runs OFFICE XP (2003). None of these have issues. To be able to help (if we can at all) it is necessary to track down the conditions when the problem occurs and possibly try to replicate it some. A few folks mentioned 64-bit systems in the linked discussion. The 64-bit systems have caused a lot of problems and generally require the updates for proper opertation.
From the point-of-view of trying to fix things without delving into the specfics, all I can suggest are a repair and then updates to the latest version of Acrobat. The updates should be able to be done from the Help menu, but if not from there you can download them from the Adobe Downloads>updates site.
Probably not considered much help at this point, but I really don't have enough information to home in on the problem. It may be that my copyright comment about fonts is really the issue (you should get an error message from Distiller if you print to the Adobe PDF printer that suggest the problem. As far as other packages, if they do indeed embed copyright fonts that do not have permission, then you are technically violating the law, even if allowed by the software. I have no idea if that is the case, but it is a possibility.

I think it is not recommended or supported for versions earlier than X.

I'm replacing my computer, moving from Windows XP pro to Windows 7 pro. To install Acrobat 8 Pro (this this an upgrade license) I should install step by step the following software: Adobe Acrobat 6 Std > Adobe 7 Pro > Adobe 8 Pro. This will work with Win 7 Pro ?

Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro is not compatible with Windows 7. I have seen cases where the installation goes fine. And with some workarounds you can get Adobe PDF printer installed as well. But Adobe still not recommend using Acrobat 8 on Windows 7. The reason why Acrobat 8 is not compatible is that the code of Acrobat 8 has not been tested on Windows 7 and it's not fully optimized for Windows 7.

Transitioning from MS XP PRO to Windows 7 reload adobe acrobat

I am preparing to go from MS XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro.
Since the MS instructions say the partition will be wiped during Windows 7 installation and I'll have to reload all pgrms on my computer.
Currently, I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Std, Adobe AIR, Adobe Flash Player 15 ActiveX, Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin, Adobe Reader XI (11.0.08) and Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1 installed.

Adobe won't help since Acrobat 9 is out of support, just like XP, and the other things are free - no free support.
But you can reinstall Acrobat 9 from the original CD with the serial number. Make sure you have BOTH of these before you start. If it was an upgrade you also need the older serial number.
The other free stuff can be downloaded as needed.
