Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5 Not Working

Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5 has quit working.  It won't display old PDFs and it won't create new ones correctly.
I tried a repair.  I tried a reinstall.   It w still won't work.
I downloaded the lastest reader and it will read the old PDFs.
Any one have an idea what i wrong?

I apologize to everyone.  When I sat back and thought about it, I realized i had changed the default open program for PDFs to notepad.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Suddenly Not Working....

Adobe Acrobat 8.0 has been working fine on my PC for months.  Then late in the day Tuesday, November 9th, I have a problem.  When I got to open the program, I get the message "Adobe Acrobat 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  When I try to open the program, I see the top menu and then it stalls.  A few seconds later is when I get the message.
I have gotten this message before usually after I've tried opening a bad file or something.  Usually Acrobat is OK after I try and open up another file or just the program itself.  This time that is not working.  I turned my PC completely off and then powered it back on and it still will not run (still getting the "Adobe Acrobat 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience." message).
I did notice that there was some kind of update notification coming through on Tuesday but I didn't install it.  I just closed the notice down.  It was shortly afterwards that I found I could not open Acrobat 8.  I opened up Adobe Reader and saw that there was an update for Acrobat 8 available.  I DID the update but it is still not running.
Nothing on the Internet seems to help.  I've checked the compatibility box, unchecked it to no avail.  Any answers to this?  If I need to provide additional information, I'll be happy to give it.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.  I use this program a LOT.

UPDATE:  After a LOT of runaround, a "tech" person where I work got Acrobat 8 to work without getting the "Adobe Acrobat 8.0 has encountered a problem..." message.  Alas, this was not the end of my headache.
When Adobe Acrobat was working well (just two short days ago), when I needed to scan a document I would select CREATE PDF then FROM SCANNER and the Acrobat Scan pop-up screen would appear.  I would see my network scanner which is a Ricoh model number IS330DC and that model number is what I would see next to the Scanner: box on the Adobe Scan pop-up screen.
After they re-installed Adobe 8, I could see this scanner listed but when I select it, after a couple of seconds I get a message that says:
    Twain Driver Ver.3
    9745:
Error has occurred in the scanner
After I press OK I get this message:
Adobe could not communicate to this device
So the tech guy goes to the Ricoh site, gets the drivers for the scanner, deletes the old ones that were on my C:\ drive and reinstalls these new ones.
    And it still didn't work.
THEN the tech guy logs onto my PC using his account (which I think has more "rights" like an administrator than I do).  He goes through the same process as I've written above (uninstalls Adobe 8, reinstalls it.  Does the same with the Ricoh drivers for the IS330DC model).  He then goes to do a scan and voila: it works fine.  Just as it did before.
BUT then when I log back onto my PC using my login ID, it doesn't work.  I get the same messages that I got before about the 9745: Error and such.
Now the tech thinks that it has to do with my User ID (or my account).  He wants to create another account on my PC (and move all my C:\ data to it).  This will take a long time and I hate it when tech people do this kind of thing because I invariably lose something that I really need.  And he can't guarantee that this will work.  The last thing he'll do after this is give me a new PC.  Great -- all of this because of a seemingly minor Adobe Acrobat problem?
If I got to another person's PC and login using my ID and password, I am able to use Adobe Acrobat and the scanner with no problems.
Does anyone have any idea how this might be fixed without having to resort to (what I think are) my tech guy's drastic measures?

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro Licence is not working any more

Hi, Adobe Acrobat Pro is not opening any more and giving the error "Licence is not working any more". I have a CS4 on Mac OS X 10.5.8. I tried all the suggestions in the Help Forum. What remains is to install CS4 again. Is there any risk doing that? Or is there any other option. Best, Felix

    Hi xilef79,
Have you tried all the suggestions in this Help document: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-licensing-stopped-windows.html

  • Adobe acrobat add ons does not work with latest firefox

I have been using firefox because of my adobe acrobat add ons.. I alwasy convert pages to adobe pdf using my acrobat. It works with firefox 4.0 but it does not work anymore with latest firefox.
Can you help me with this?

Maybe if you read about privacy, policy and sharing of data you'd change your mind. But it was reported that it appeared to work if you used something like the "Add-ons Compatibility Reporter".
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter]" extension, or with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility extensions.checkCompatibility] using about:addons.

  • My adobe acrobat 9 standard does not work recently for converting word documents to pdf - what up?

why would adobe acrobat 9 standard stop working for converting word docs to pdf?

Are you running at least version 9.2 of Acrobat? Are you able to log in with a new user account on Windows to see if it works?

  • Adobe Acrobat submit button feature not working

    Hello,
I just  created a new time card using Adobe Acrobat. I'd like to make it so when  the user enters their hours, they click on the submit button and it  routes the form to the e-mail I've provided.
Following the directions provided by adobe (http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/acrobat/articles/acr8at_addsubmit.ht ml), I added mailto: myE-mailAddress@...
But  when I tested out the form by clicking submit, a dialog box appeared  asking me to save it, but then I ended up receiving NO e-mail.

When using a mailtotype URL, be sure there is no space between "mailto:" and the email address. For example:
    "mailto:[email protected]"
    and not
    "MailTo: [email protected]"
But that's not likely to be your problem. It is up to the user to complete the sending of the email. If the user elects to save the data or PDF locally, it is up to them to then attach the file manually. In the other case, they have to complete the sending of the email. If their default email program does not get launched with the file attached, then thir system is not properly set up.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 text search not working

    Hi,
I am trying to search for text in a pdf produced by oracle (not that it should matter) and nothing is being found. Any ideas. I can highlight a work and it's loaded automatically when I enter Control F but the reader cant find it.
I wish I'd never downloaded Acrobat reader 8

    It's version 8.1.1 on Suse Linux 9.3.
One document which has the problem is available from oracles website at
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/wocprod/url/ITEM/0A94991092E93070E040149032B17CE1
The Index for documents can be found at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/asm/index.html
    It's called
"Take the Guesswork Out of Database IO Tuning White Paper"
    Best of luck.
I will be downgrading to Acrobat 7 to see if it fixes the problem, (with the added benefit of getting rid of this clumsy new interface and speeding everthing back up).

  • Adobe Acrobat X Unattended Install not working

I created and Windows bundle to install Acrobat X via a custom msi and I removed the "qn" switch. I used the Acrobat customizer to customize the install, to include unattended install but show progress bar and prompt for reboot. If I run the file on a PC locally it works fine, but the bundle makes the user go through the dialog boxes with all the correct settings already in place. With the /qn it works. I want the users to see the progress. Yes, they're too dumb and/or lazy to use the Zenworks icon to check the progress.

    Change /qn to /qb+

  • ADOBE ACROBAT READER PLUGIN DOES NOT WORK

when I click on a pdf document, nothing but a white page shows up (I do have the correct Reader plugin and it appears enabled.)

I had the same problem after updating Firefox to version 4.0 and Acrobat Reader to Version X. For me (Win XP) what solve the problem was deleting the Acrobat Reader Plugin (nppdf32.dll) in the Firefox plugin folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins). So now there is only one Acrobat Reader Plugin left namely the one in the Acrobat Reader plugin folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Browser).

  • How do I fix:  "Adobe acrobat 9.5 has stopped working"

Whenever I try to open a file using Adobe Acrobat 9.5, I get the message:  "Adobe acrobat 9.5 has stopped working"  "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Please close the program".  Acrobat reader 9.5 appears to work fine.  I am also having problems when opening PDF files from the internet using Internet Explorer.  If I try to open a PDF file with Internet Explorer I get and error message Box which says:  "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtimr Error! - Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe - R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. - Please contact the application's support team for more information."  Then when I click OK, I get the following in IE:  "Interner Explorer has closed this web page to help protect your computer - A malfaunction or malicious add-on has cause Internet Explorer to close this webpage. - More Information - Windows Data Execution Prevention detected an add-on trying to use system memory incorrectly. This can be caused by a malfunction or a malicious add-on.  Other things you can do:  Go online to learn about the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) security feature".  I am running Windows 7 Pro version 6.1 (Build 7601, Service pack 1) and Internet Explorer 8 version8.0.7601.17514 and Adobe Acrobat 9.5 Standard.  I would give you the version but I can't keep the program open long enough to check that.  Please HELP I need Acrobat working on this computer.

Reader is not Acrobat, but I got the gist. To try to resolve the issue, open Acrobat and go to Help>Repair. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
The C++ library sometimes gets messed up and has to be reloaded. That would have to be done by way of MS.
After the repair, I would strongly recommend going back to Help>Check for Updates and install updates in order. Since you did not mention updates, I suspect you are running 9.0.0. Also, you did not mention your OS level as 32 or 64-bit. If it is a 64-bit system, you need to run the updates for AA9 to work properly.

  • When I try to open a PDF downloaded from Adobe DC I get an error message:Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open 'nrneph.2015.33.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email

When I try to download a PDF from Adobe DC, I get an error message: "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open 'nrneph.2015.33.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)"
I am using a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.9.5, Safari browser. Previous versions of Adobe Acrobat have worked fine for years.
    WGC

What's the name of the file you are attempting to open?  Is it "ScreenFlow_4.5.2.dmg"?  If it is the correct name then the message is correct and you are attempting to open a file with DMG files extension and not one with a PDF file extension.  Adobe Reader opens PDF files an not any other file type.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.5 refuses to work

Having reiinstalled CS4 (german language) after an upgrade form Win XP to Win 7 (32bit), all programs worked fine for a week. Then, out of the blue, Acrobat quits working: The message, a few seconds after reading a pdf document 8created with the same version), ist "Adobe Acrobat 9.5 funktioniert nicht mehr" ("Adobe Acrobat 9.5 does not funktion any more"). A problem solving procedure ist indicated (whatever that might do?) but after a few more ceconds the message is completed in saying that the program has to be closed now.
I installed an update (Adobe Acrobat professional 9.5.5) but this did not help either.
The other CS4 programs seem to work properly, though I havent' had time to test them all.
An addditionl error message window opened saying: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server". Where, the hell, do I get such a thing???
    Need urgent help.
    Wolfgang

    Liebe(r) Mylenium,

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro will not open in Windows 8

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro will not open in Windows 8. It worked until 2 days ago, now it won't do anything. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with no luck.

32 or 64 bit system? Have you updated Acrobat? Was anything else installed between when it worked and did not? When you say AA 9 will not open, does that mean when you have selected it in the programs list (OK, that is the metro interface if you have not installed the desktop options -- 3rd party)?
