Adobe Acrobat 9 Bug - Organizer file

I have found a bug in Acrobat 9 where you cannot turn off the organizer. even though you turn it "off" in the program it still accesses, reads and writes to the file located
"%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Organizer90"
this causes a HUGE problem for our clients as our software uses the Acrobat 9 API. Our users are accessing hundreds of documents a day and there are cases where the Organizer90 file reaches upwards of a couple hundred megs per user.
This also equates to extremely slow PDF access over time.
Does Adobe know about the issue? it worked just fine in Acrobat 8, but in 9 they broke it.
Does anyone know a perminent solution or fix?

yeah, we tried the other options, however due to the high volume of pdf files being accessed on thier workstations the file grows exceptionally fast. the ideal situation is to have Organizer not remember PDFs at all.
The setting you mentioned "Don't remember PDFs" is exactly what we set it to, however, the organizer90 file still remembers the history and grows. (this was not the case in adobe 8, the organizer behavior was working properly)
We have a temporary workaround for existing users on a workstation to delete the large organizer90 file, launch adobe, open a PDF and save it (it will then recreate the organizer90 file, even with the option "don't remember PDFs" selected), then we mark organizer90 as read only.
creating an organizer90 file with NULL does not work as there seems to be some adobe information in that file. we tried just creating a NULL file but then Adobe would pop up with errors about the organizer file. (even with the setting turned off)
Right now, we have to perform this on every workstation for every user that logs into the workstation which is not really an option.

I am able to use Acrobat using a wireless router.
Try the following:
Get the latest update from Manufacturer. Then go to printer setup utility and remove the current version. ( Do this anyway even if the same version).
Next plug Printer into a direct USB Connection. Now install Driver. Go back to Printer Setup Utility. and add Printer.
Now print a document, to verify printer works.
Now quit application, then shut down Computer.
Now switch usb printer connector from USB connector on computer to USB connector on your router.
Restart Computer.
Now open an application that uses a printer and open a document. go to Printer and Look for the Following:
Disregard the printer I have listed here that's my printer. If you see a Printer like this add to list by choosing the printer.
Now go to Printer Setup verify it has been added. Make it the Default printer.
Now Acrobat "should" be able to print from you printer.

Thanks for your response, it is a mail problem, I been sendings filled form PDFs estimates for years from my Mac then yesterday I went from mountain lion to mavericks and the problem started, if I zip or move te files to any other windows or Mac computer it opens fine, the problem is when I attach it to a message in mail it attached the file blank

Adobe Acrobat, Print multiple files to PDF and merge open files to closed files?

I have Adobe Acrobat XI Professional.
Print to PDF – How can this be done for more than 15 documents at a time? Right now, if I select 16 or more documents, I cannot ‘right click’ and choose ‘print’. Is this a setting issue? If I have many documents I need to print to PDF at once, it would be helpful if there wasn’t this limitation. Background: This needs to be done to PDF files created from Adobe Live Cycle (and possibly from other software) because the files cannot be merged unless they are ‘printed to PDF’ first. I don't know an alternate way to merge these files.
Also, if I have a multi-page PDF open and I need to parse out the pages to different files, is it possible to drag the selected pages out of the open PDF and hover over a closed PDF and have them added to the end of the closed PDF document? I don't know of a way to do this, but I thought I would check to see if anyone else was aware of a simpler way to parse pages from one document into several pre-existing documents without opening each and dragging the files between them.

Thank you for your response...I can do the additional step to combine them, the problem that I have is that the documents need to be in chronological order. If I print them to the pdf printer or export them, either way, windows sorts them and they are no longer chronological. While I can organize them when I combine them there are many times that there way too many that need combined into one pdf, making it a very inefficient and cumbersome process to do. So I was in hopes there was a way to just have the pdf printer create one file instead of one for each document, it would keep them in chronological order. I suppose I could number them on the print to keep them chronological - but when there are 75 or 100 documents it is a bit of a pain to sit there and respond to each document as it is being printed, and then need to do the additional step of combining. My goal in this process is to gain efficiency so thought I would see if anyone knew how to use the pdf printer to create the single file.

Is there a list of file types that Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended supports. Looking specifically for cad stuff like microstation, autocad and esri files.

What I would like to do with acrobat pro extended 9 is for instance to convert a two-column glossary into Excel keeping the table format. Not sure if using English version will affect the text in the Swedish translation column or not. I've used Acrobat (Swedish version) to a minor extent at work so I'm familiar with some of its benefits, such as the "Copy as table" function.
I think ibuying this software straight from retail is quite pricey for my needs and that's why I considered buying a used English version of Acrobat Pro extended. But I'm not sure it's worth buying an English version if it will limit the useability for my needs.

I have software discs and a license for Adobe Acrobat 9 pro windows. I don't have a disc drive on my new computer. is there a link where i can download this older edition of acrobat? i can't seem to find it on the website.

the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

Does Adobe Acrobat support opening files in tabs ?

I am wondering if we can open multiples PDF files in multiple tabs rather in separated windows (like webpages opened in tabs in Firefox or chrome..)?
I didn't find such a feature in Adobe ! I found it in the free PDF viewer (X-change)! It is a great feature in my view !
Will acrobat include it in the next versions, or it is already available but I can't find it?

I agree with the initial post but not with the posts asking for the multiple windows! I am surprised how can people still ask for multiple windows!
I agree with the initial post; that is making multiple or single windows as a customizable option. Who prefer separated windowS will enjoy it, and who prefer one window for multiple files can enjoy it too.
Personally, I prefer one window for multiple files rather than dozen individual windows.
I abandoned the payed acrobat for the free X-Change PDF viewer ONLY for this great feature of multiple documents in a single window.
Note: In X-change viewer (and Foxit) we can chose between single or multiple documents!
Why acrobat does not do it customizable too to be able to chose between one or the other option?

Adobe Acrobat 8 Combining Files

When I combine multiple files (each created with Word 2007) that each have multiple levels of bookmarks, the resulting PDF bookmarks are all broken except the highest level. What's up?

How are you combining the files? Are you dragging some files into the Pages pane of the first file? Or are you using the Combine Files menu item?
Your question should be directed to Adobe's developers. However, if your bookmarks point to the beginning of pages and not to specific points within those pages, then they can be fixed with a script. If you're interested, contact me by email.

Adobe Acrobat 9 pdf files won't save on windows 8

Since transfering my program to Win8, I have been unable to get my Adobe pdf documents to save. They just disappear after naming them.

Adobe acrobat X cannot open PDF files in Firefox, though IE can. What gives?

when I download a page that's a PDF file from the Web, Firefox cannot open it, although Internet Explorer can. I just uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 because I had Adobe Reader X installed.

When I enter about:preferences#applications <Enter> in the address bar, then for PDF it shows:

Right now none of the PDF's open at all, so opening in Firefox or any other viewer would be preferred over not showing up at all.

I simply want to passw protect my pdf files generated by Adobe Acrobat. However the option as indicated by the helpdesk is not available in my pdf generator. I am working with apple? Can someone tell me how to pass protect my files?

You can password protect your files in Adobe Acrobat by choosing File > Properties when you have the PDF open, and clicking the Security tab. Here is a Help topic that goes into detail: Acrobat Help | Securing PDFs with passwords.

Adobe Acrobat X Pro on Mac does not select duplex print by default

I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.8 for Mac. When I print a document, Acrobat does not select duplex print (i.e. "Print on both sides") by default. While I can manually select duplex print, I don't understand why this isn't the default option here as in every other application. Just for reference, here is a screen shot of my default print screen:
I have played around with duplex printing in the advanced properties of PDF's. I have also played around with the DuplexMode property in the com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist file. Actually, there is no DuplexMode property in the file, but I tried making one, which didn't solve the problem. There is a printBookletDuplexMode property but that doesn't seem to make a different. In any case, nothing has worked.
There are some similar questions on the forums, but they are either slightly different or haven't been answered. Is this such a difficult issue?

I agree with your statement; even for a particular document, if I choose to "Print on both sides" and then print again immediately after, "Print on both sides" will be deselected.
However, I'm not sure what you're implying by you're statement. I'm asking precisely why this setting isn't sticky. Acrobat uses a non-standard printer dialog; in the usual dialog I can easily set a defualt duplex setting. I almost always want to print duplex. Why can't I do this by default in Acrobat?

Adobe Acrobat 9 Download Error

When I download and extract adobe acrobat 9 std files, it says I don't have enough storage. I have a yoga II and should have plenty of storage. Is there something else I need to do?

Could you please share the exact error message that appears when extracting Acrobat std files.
You might try emptying the TEMP folder by typing '%temp%' in the Run window (Press Windows + R) and then check again.
What version of OS are you working on? Is it compatible with Acrobat 9 std?

Adobe Acrobat X Pro Extracting Issue

When the download manager was trying to extract the Adobe Acrobat X Pro files to my computer folder, the following message suddenly popped out:
A problem occured while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write priveleges on the destination folder.
I restarted my computer just in case and tried to download the software again yet when it reached on the extracting part, the message again popped out. I have also checked my available space from my C drive and I still have enough, 1.27 TB to be exact.
I am the only user and the admin of this computer where I'm trying to download the software so it would be unlikely that I am restricted to the destination folder. Also, I have downloaded other softwares to the same destination folder and it went successful. It is just with the Adobe Acrobat X Pro dowload where I'm having this issue.
I would greatly appreciate for your prompt response with this matter. Thank you.

is your harddrive 1tb or larger? if so, you'll need to partition that drive to use acrobat x on it.
otherwise:
uninstall acrobat X
run the cleaner, http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
restart your computer
if you're using windows, right click the installation file and click "run as administrator"
