Adobe Acrobat 9 missing "Compare" function.

I cannot find the "Compare" selection that so many online explanations refer to.  Is it possible that there are "variants" of Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard that do not have the "Compare Two Files" feature?

Please ignore this question.  After some research it turns out that "Standard" does not have the Compare Two Files feature (though there were conflicting statements about the presence/absence of that command).

  • PDF Searching using Adobe Acrobat Plugin Find Function in Safari

    I currently incorporate the Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.1.2) plugin for viewing PDF files. I like using Safari for viewing PDFs within a web browser, but I find Safari's built-in Find function (open apple-F) inferior to Acrobat's ability to search for text within the PDF, as it never finds the words that I search for.
    My question is: Is there an efficient built-in shortcut within Safari to search text within a PDF using Adobe Acrobat's plugin Find function? If not, is there a relatively easy, keyboard-based shortcut that could be made to direct the Find function to the Adobe Acrobat plugin Find function within Safari?
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Figured it out.  It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat.  Here's the fix:
    Open Finder/Applications
    Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
    Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
    Quit Safari
    Launch Safari
    Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

  • Adobe acrobat pdf compare problem

    I have query on Adobe Acrobat Proffesional 7 on comparing texual difference for the attached two pdf file its show text is identical.
    But in the two pdf files difference is present.
    Please kindly advise on this.
    Thanks..

    If you check teh box to check font issues, then there is a difference indicated with the text comparison. It is indicated that there is a font difference. This was the result I got with AA7 that you said you are using. The characters are apparently the same number, but one in ANSI and the other in Roman of your font style.

  • PDFs look different in Adobe reader and Acrobat professional compared to the built in PDF viewer on windows 8

    Hi there,
    I have been trying to narrow down an issue we have been having for some time in printing PDF files and finding that they look different on paper compared to screen.  Up until today our big KIP plotter got the blame, but as I have been collecting notes on a little windows 8 tablet I noted that PDFs opened in the windows PDF viewer have the same visual defects as the printouts.  My example today is that on a CAD drawing there is a small box/frame with a number in their, I tried printing and the frame was completely blacked out.  As a test I tried saving the PDF as a TIFF file from Adobe Acrobat professional and this file had the same fault as the printed copy.  When I open it in the windows 8 pdf viewer I can see that there is a shading within this box that does not show on Adobe Reader (latest version 11.0.10.32), the adobe reader and acrobat pro version both show a white background to the box.  We have been having lots of issues with sections being missing from drawings and overly feint lines.
    I am not sure where to start trying to narrow down why we are getting different results in different PDF readers.  Is there anyone who maybe able to point me in the right direction?  It almost feels like the shading or colour density is not being consistent when PDFs are being opened in different packages.
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Some PDF viewers comply with the PDF ISO Standard (ISO 32000) "just enough" while others (such as Adobe's) fully comply.
    As with anything there's a cost to using anything that comes from a "just enough" approach.
    Be well...

  • I have Adobe Acrobat XI standard, but would like to trial the "compare documents" feature on Pro. I tried to download a trial version of Pro, but the installer indicated that "it detected a more fully featured version of the product" - presumably my stand

    Okay - just realised that the last screen was just asking for a "title" for my question!
    I have Adobe Acrobat XI standard, but would like to trial the "compare documents" feature on Pro. I tried to download a trial version of Pro, but the installer indicated that "it detected a more fully featured version of the product" - presumably my standard version? - and stopped installation. It is not clear to me what my options are for either upgrading to Pro, or selectively purchasing the "compare documents" plugin (if possible). I am using what is presumably an Enterprise version of acrobat (i.e. my employer owns it, not me) - so not sure what limitations that results in. I think this is a simple question, but would be grateful for advice.

    - You can't install Acrobat Pro alongside Acrobat Standard. You will need to remove Standard to be able to install Pro.
    - You (probably) can't upgrade your license if it's a part of an enterprise license. The entire license will need to be upgraded.
    - It's not possible to install just the "Compare Documents" function as a sort of add-on to Acrobat Standard.

  • Document Compare Function in Acrobat Professional 9

    Document Compare function
    I use the 'compare' function to compare documents versions etc for changes. It looks like only 250 pages is the maximum number of pages that can compared during each operation.
    I am using documents that are 900+ pages and I keep the error message/screenshot attached.
    Is this a limitation with Acrobat Professional 9?

    Yes, it would appear to be a limitation that Adobe have put in. I'm in a similar situatiion where I have documents up to 2500 pages long that must be compared so while it takes longer I do the compare in batches of 250 pages at a time. It could be as a result of resource usage. I'm finding that when I do a compare, the fisrt one is generally ok but after that Acrobat slows down considerably - it may just be my computer (XP Pro 1.5 GB RAM and 2.8 GHz) but I'd like to know does Acrobat empty the cache or is the cache filling up after each compare and hogging resources?
    It's a great function but I wish it would work the way I expect it to.
    Cheers

  • Adobe Acrobat X: Attachments and Extended Reader Functions...

    All,
    after adding attachments (e.g. PDF documents) to a PDF document and saving the document with "Extended Reader Functions" an error is shown in the Java debugger window:
    SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list
    10:Document-Level:ADBE::FileAttachmentsCompatibility
    Adobe creates a document-level javascript function called "FileAttachmentsCompatibility" within ADBE.
    Looking into the source code, the error can be easily seen
    app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat Dateianlagen. zum Anzeigen der Anlagen klicken Sie auf "Speichern", um eine Kopie des...
    (a part of the German version is shown)
    As one can see, the highlighting "Speichern" (saving) is inside of double quotation marks.
    This can only be solved by - again - saving the newly created document as a copy. Opening this document, one can edit the faulty script
    Find below the corrected version:
    var v = app.viewerVersion;
    if (v < 7)
    var n = 0;
    if (this.dataObjects != null)
      n = this.dataObjects.length;
    if (v >= 5 && v < 6 && n > 0 && (app.viewerVariation == "Full" || app.viewerVariation == "Fill-In"))
      if (this.external)
       app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat Dateianlagen. Zum Anzeigen der Anlagen klicken Sie auf "Speichern", um eine Kopie des Dokuments zu speichern. Öffnen Sie die Kopie in Adobe Acrobat, und wählen Sie "Datei" > "Dokumenteigenschaften" > "Eingebettete Datenobjekte".", 3, 0);
      else
       app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat Dateianlagen. Zum Anzeigen der Anlagen wählen Sie "Datei" > "Dokumenteigenschaften" > "Eingebettete Datenobjekte".", 3, 0);
    else if (v >= 6 && v < 7)
      if (n == 0)
       var np = this.numPages;
       syncAnnotScan();
       for (var p = 0; p < np && n == 0; ++p)
        var annots = this.getAnnots(p);
        if (annots != null)
         for (var i = 0; i < annots.length; ++i)
          if (annots[i].type == "FileAttachment")
           n = 1;
           break;
      if (n > 0)
       if (this.external)
        app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat  Dateianlagen. Zum Anzeigen der Anlagen klicken Sie oben in der vertikalen Bildlaufleiste des Dokumentfensters auf das schwarze Dreieck und wählen "Dateianlagen".", 3, 0);
       else
        app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat Dateianlagen. Zum Anzeigen der Anlagen wählen Sie "Dokument" > "Dateianlagen".", 3, 0);

    The script was automatically created by the Adobe Acrobat software...
    I know the issue, but is there any bug-fix available? I don't want to correct it for every document!
    Correction: Above you find the automatically created document.
    A corrected possibility is shown below:
    var v = app.viewerVersion;
    if (v < 7)
    var n = 0;
    if (this.dataObjects != null)
      n = this.dataObjects.length;
    if (v >= 5 && v < 6 && n > 0 && (app.viewerVariation == "Full" || app.viewerVariation == "Fill-In"))
      if (this.external)

      else
       app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat Dateianlagen. Zum Anzeigen der Anlagen wählen Sie 'Datei' > 'Dokumenteigenschaften' > 'Eingebettete Datenobjekte'.", 3, 0);
    else if (v >= 6 && v < 7)
      if (n == 0)
       var np = this.numPages;
       syncAnnotScan();
       for (var p = 0; p < np && n == 0; ++p)
        var annots = this.getAnnots(p);
        if (annots != null)
         for (var i = 0; i < annots.length; ++i)
          if (annots[i].type == "FileAttachment")
           n = 1;
           break;
      if (n > 0)
       if (this.external)
        app.alert("Dieses Dokument hat  Dateianlagen. Zum Anzeigen der Anlagen klicken Sie oben in der vertikalen Bildlaufleiste des Dokumentfensters auf das schwarze Dreieck und wählen 'Dateianlagen'.", 3, 0);
       else

  • Adobe Pro 9.0 Compare functionality

    Does a PDF have to have tags for the compare functionality to work?

    frstrsystemI make a fix, here it is:
    1) I launch acropro 9 on the server, I go to the view->toolbars->tasks menu to  the "tasks" toolbar (which cause the crash).
    2) on the server, run regedit and go to current user\software\adobe\adobe acrobat\9.0 and export this hive on a file like acrobat9_user.reg
    3) create a acro9pro.cmd file with
    regedit /S n:\scripts\acrobat9pro_user.reg
    @start "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\" Acrobat.exe
    save this file on the server
    publish your app and call the CMD instead of the acrobat file
    trick; you can map drive into the cmd so that user can access network shares and not only the server on.

  • Missing add-on Convert to pdf in IE10 and Adobe Acrobat XI

    Hello,
    I have Windows 8 with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed but I cannot find the internet explorer 10 "adds-on" (nor the icon on the IE bar) for the "Convert to pdf file" anymore.
    I think the problem originated when I installed Creative Suite CS3 and it had Acrobat 8 in it. I installed it too fast and didn't realize it was included. It overtook some of the features of XI Pro, so I uninstalled Acrobat 8 and installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro again to see if the problem could get solved.
    Worse. With both Acrobat 8 and XI installed I still saw the adds-on but they were "unavailable", or enabled but couldn't find the icon to use the function. Now I can't even find the Adds-on in the tools menu of IE to see if they could be enabled. They are simply not there anymore.This is the main feature that I use for my work and I would be grateful if someone would give me a hint or where to download the missing element.
    Thank you very much.

    None in Adobe, either?
    I guess this Forum is not very helpful to use.

    I am trying to use Barcode function on Adobe acrobat pro version..I could not figure out..how can i autopopulate forms using Barcode from one PDF document( form) to next PDF document( form)..i am missing something in between those?

    I have no idea what you are asking - can you be a little bit more clear formulating your question.
    Anyway, this is the Adobe Reader forum; you should probably ask in the Acrobat forum.

  • How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central.

    How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central. It's for an online Diet Questionnaire. After people complete the form I'd like them to click "SUBMIT" and the completed form will be emailed to me.

    This can be a bit confusing because Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop app that allows you to create simple PDF forms without having a FormsCentral account. Some people find this helpful, but you need to understand that when you generate the PDF form, it is Reader-enabled by Acrobat. In order to edit the form further in Acrobat, you have to create a non-enabled copy of the form. You do this in Acrobat by opening the form and selecting: File > Save a Copy
    and opening the copy. It is not opened automatically.
    You can now add a button and set it up to submit by email, either using a "Submit a form" action or the submitForm JavaScript method. You can set it up to include just the form data or the entire PDF, and will want to use a mailto type URL. Submitting the form to the FormsCentral server has a number of important advantages over email (much more reliable, more secure, etc.), so you might want to consider it.
    If the form needs to be saved with Reader versions prior to 11, then you will need to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 11 you do this by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools

    When comparing two documents using Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional, is it possible to generate revision bars in the margin in sections where text has changed (the documents in question would be text-only).

  • Why certain functionality works in Adobe Acrobat, but not in LiveCycle Preview PDF?

    I have some simple logic in a LiveCycle form that will hide a subform when I click a checkbox.  When I save as dynamic PDF and open in Adobe Acrobat 9, it works fine, but when I test the .xdp in LiveCycle Preview PDF it does not.  I'm new to JavaScript and have wasted some time troubleshooting what I thought was a problem, only to find out it was working.  Am I doing something that is not capatible with Preview PDF?
    Attached below are images of hierarchy, design, and code.  I realize the hierarchy is more complex than it needs to be.  It is an excerpt I built to test this functionality, based on the full document.
    Thanks.
    form1.diag.Cervical.show::click - (JavaScript, client)
    if (this.rawValue == 1) {narrative.Cervical.mre.presence = "visible"} else {narrative.Cervical.mre.presence = "hidden"}
    form1.narrative.Cervical.mre::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
    this.presence = "hidden";

    Did you made the form as Dynamic and Interactive in the preview..
         1) Goto File menu -> Form Properties and select Defaults tab. Change the Default Render Format as Dynamic XML form
         2) Select the Preview Tab. Set the Preview type as "Interactive Form" and Preview Adobe XML form as Dynamic XML form
         3) Finally while saving the PDF select Save As Type as "Adobe Dynamic XML Form".
    Thanks

    It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.
