Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Not Installing

When I click on the shortcut to Acrobat 9 Pro, the program says it is preparing to install.  This program was installed with CS4.  At any rate, if I let it continue to install, the install fails with a message that it cannot access C:\Config.msi\48b6b5d.rbf.  That file doesn't exist, or at least I cannot see it.
I have tried to reinstall from my CS4 disk with the same result.
Any help for this issue?
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit
CS4 Design Premium

To all:
Thanks for your help on this.  Here is where I stand right now.  I stopped clicking on the icon pinned to my taskbar, the one that always starts the install process, and double clicked on the .exe in My Computer.  It started 9 Pro without a hitch.  I then unpinned the icon on the taskbar and repinned the icon from the .exe in My Computer.  I clicked on this and it started the install once again.  I got rid of the pinned icon again and pinned the .exe to the start menu.   This works.  Bizarre.

  • Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro - silent install not completely silent

    Hello,
I am trying to create an installer for Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro. I have used the customization wizard to create a transform file for the install and specified it to be silent. However, it appears that windows are still opening in the background when the installer runs, which causes our automated installer service to close out of the install thinking the installer is "broken."
Is there an easy way to make the installer completely, 100% silent?
    The command is currently:
    if exist [file generated to determine if a prior uninstall was sucessful] (msiexec /i "[PATH]Adobe Acrobat Pro\Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro\AcroPro.msi" /qn CLIENTUILEVEL=0 TRANSFORMS=[PATH]\Adobe Acrobat Pro\Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro\AcroPro.mst" /l*v "[PATH]\adobe.log")
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Drew
EDIT: The windows opening look like they are deleting some dll files. If anyone knows a workaround, that's be great.

Answered this in your other post.  Please only post once per issue. Here is the response I put in that thread:
"If you are installing on a machine that Acrobat 10 previously  then this is likely deleting the old Adobe PDF Printer files if anything instead of the Setup files.  I don't believe there is a way to change this behavior."

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro Is Installed but Not Working

I installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro about a year ago. It has never worked, and I'm just now getting around to trying to fix it. When I try to open a PDF document with the program, it brings up a window that asks if I'll allow the program to make changes to my computer. I click "yes," and the window goes away, but then absolutely nothing happens, the document never opens, and I have to open it with Adobe Reader instead.
I'd like to be able to use the program that I paid for.
    What can I do?
    Thanks.

you should open the directory where adobe x pro was installed.  find Acrobat.exe, right click it>click "run as administrator".
if that fails, fun the acrobat cleaner:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    restart your computer
    reinstall acrobat x pro.

  • Cant run adobe acrobat x1 pro after installing it - serial number upgrade problem

i have installed adobe acrobat xi pro on my new microsoft surface computer running windows 8.1.  i just got this new computer ... the product was originally installed on my old computer. (i purchased the product a little over a year ago)  the download and installation appeared to have gone well ... but now when i attempt to actually run the program, i get the message "serial number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer"  a window asks me to select a product from a drop down list - but adobe acrobat x1 pro does not appear on that list

The message you are getting indicates you purchased the software as an upgrade version and it is asking you to identify the older version that you upgraded from to prove that you qualify for using the upgrade version.  YOu need to select the older version and provide its serial number as well.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro not working (at all) following update

I have been have issues with my Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for a few weeks now.  It stopped allowing me to view, create and print pdfs a few weeks ago.  As I teach part time online at a university- I commonly use pdf's to provide information to my students.  I also use pdf's to transfer data back and for from my work computer - for my full time job - to my home computer and back again.  Not having this availability is really hindering my work.
My computer runs on Windows 7 with a 64 bit operating system.  Up until a few weeks ago I had no problems.  I'm thinking an update may have gone through that caused the issues.
In order to reload my full program I had to completely reformat one of my drives which I had remnants of an old adobe version on it- unfortunately, I did not realize that outlook was still pointing to this drive so I lost a lot of data in the long run- needless to say this adobe issue is has been more than just a nuisance to me.
Once the drive was clean- I was able to reload my software for Adobe XI Pro. It worked perfectly after I loaded it.  At least I was able to breath a sigh of relief.  The next day (yesterday) I was informed that some security updates were needed on the program- considering the age of my disks- It seemed plausible and I received the updates.  This evening, as I was setting up my course for winter semester- I tried to open a pdf- and low and behold- I am back where I was- I can't do anything again.  What is going on here?  I need this program to work- yesterday!  Actually I needed it weeks ago when I started realizing I had issues.
There has to be a fix out there for this problem- and I can't be the only one with this problem.  I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone has!
    Thank you!

    Bill-
Thanks for the suggestion- but unfortunately this doesn't work- the reason being is that "Repair" is not option.
I took a snapshot and attached it of what is available for me when I click on Adobe and as you can see- Repair is not an option.
I'm getting to the point of frustration- I will probably uninstall adobe again and refuse to get any updates for it.  I honestly do not know what else to do.
Without adobe I can't post assignments for my college students to my website.  Winter term starts tomorrow and I am very much behind schedule because of this problem.
I can't be the only person having this issue.
Again- I do appreciate the suggestion.  Wish it would have worked.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro not printing correctly

Having issues with printing through Adobe Acrobat X Pro. For some reason, sometimes when i am printing pdfs, they will come out looking different from what is on screen. It looks as though it is compressing the pdf to a smaller size, although the images and fonts are the same size. It's basically changing the spacing on the paper. One of the documents is a fill in form for customers so it looks very strange that all the lines are spaced differently when the document is set up properly. The other weird thing is that it doesn't do it every time. It's hit or miss. Printing from the same HP LaserJet Pro 500 and haven't touched a single setting on the printer or in Acrobat. Any ideas?

I don't think it's page scaling. Here's the settings below. It's not scaling it down proportionally. The document has about 1.5 inches of space at the bottom
and when printed sometimes there is 3 inches of space and it isn't all of the line spacing that is decreased, only some of them. That's the strage part. It doesn'ty alter the size of the whole document, just random parts of it. I will probably switch the auto portrait/landscape option, but that shouldn't affect this.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro Not Working, InDesign is Finicky

I purchased CS6 a little while ago and now Adobe Acrobat X Pro is not working at all.  This is a major problem because I cannot access PDF files, which is the file type I use most.  Also, InDesign doesn't save my files correctly and sometimes just shuts down without notice.  I use those two programs the most so I'm not too sure what problems the other programs potentially have.  This same problem happened to my co-worker and she was emailed new download codes and now CS6 works perfectly for her.

You will have to contact Adobe Support regarding this - http://helpx.adobe.com/in/contact.html

  • Help with opening a .PDF in browser (firefox) - have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extender installed

    Hi all,
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 ProExtender installed, whenever I go to my firefox options and change the .PDF setting to (USE ADOBE ACROBAT (in firefox)) setting, i get a screen which is whited out, and a message from Adobe Acrobat with a question mark (?), but no message is there to read.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple because Acrobat and Reader share files, and that's why Adobe recommends not to have them both installed in the same machine.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro not installed

I have a new copy of Creative Suite 4 - and I installed the files.  Acrobat 9 Pro was not installed.
    I re-did the installation - but Acrobat 9 Pro is not a choice - only acrobat.com.
    What gives?
I tried to install the free download - and then used my creative suite number - but it did not work.

    Anubha,
It worked! Thank you so much.
I'd opened file with the 'Open with' feature then clicking Adobe Reader,
but that didn't do it. When I used 'Open with', then 'Choose default
program...', it worked like a charm.
    Again, thank you!

  • Acrobat X Pro not installing

I downloaded the entire Adobe Master Suite Collection but Acrobat X Pro is the only program that isn't installing.  I run the installer and the installation bar goes to completion, the installation says it has completed successfully, but it is not.  I'm running Mountain Lion on a Macbook Pro.

    Hi LJDrago#8,
Are you able to see Acrobat as a listed program in your Applications?
If Yes, then what error do you get while trying to launch it.
If No, try installing it in the Root User Account of Mac

  • Acrobat X Pro not installed during CS6 installation

    Hello,
I have done an upgrade from CS5.5 Design Premium to CS6 Desing & Web Premium with a problem that the only program that was not installed was the Acrobat X Pro application.
    Steps I have done:
    1) Deactivate CS5.5 License
    2) Deinstall all CS5.5 applications using Windows 7 system controls for deinstallation of programms
    3) Install CS6 and activate licenses
    Result:
All applications like Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, etc. was installed correctly and running fine.
Only Acrobat X Pro done a rollback and was not installed.
    Next Steps:
    1) Deinstall Acrobat Reader X
    2) Running Acrobat Cleaner Tool
    3) Reboot
    4) Trying to install Acrobat X Pro
Result: Rollback again. No installation done.
See the following note I get, when I try to start the installation again.
    Excuse for the German screenshot.
The hover message means: "Operating system does not meet the system requirements. Service Pack 2 recommended"
An for the other notes you can see in the screenshot the note is: "Operating system does not meet the system requirements. Service Pack 1 recommended"
I'am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with Service Pack 1 (German)
Has anyone have had the same situation, that Acrobat X Pro or an other application out of the CS6 suite done a rollback during the installation?
    Best regards
    Buckaroo - aka Juergen

If you had CS5.5 DP Acrobat X was already installed.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro re install on new PC...Which serial number is right one?

I have acrobat 9 Download version 2010 on two PC's. Two separate serial numbers. I have stopped using one of these PC's and want to download and re install the software on a new PC. I don't know how to tell which serial number version is on which PC?  How do I know which serial number to use for the download, so it does not cause an issue with my other adobe program on the other PC

    Hey Chaos2015,
It is not possible to check which serial number has been used on which computer as they are encrypted.
You might need to deactivate your license from the old machine so that we can check at our end and let you know the serial number for the same.
or you can try using any of the serial numbers to activate your license on the new PC since the license for Acrobat software can be activated on maximum two computers, say a laptop at home & desktop at work.
If you want to know your serial numbers, refer:
    Find your serial number quickly
Let me know if you have further query.
