Adobe Acrobat 9 Signatures

I have set up a signature in Adobe Acrobat 9 and when you draw the box for placing your signature everything behind it is "whited" out.  Is there a way to change the settings so you can see where you are placing your signature?  I have to sign a lot of documents (i.e. contracts) where I have limited place to place it and I need to not cover up the wording where I placing my signature.  Is there any way to do this?  Any offered suggestions to solving my problem??
Thanks

Hi Amy,
I'm a bit surprised you are seeing this because it is not the default behavior. Normally, when you add a signature field to the document both the fill and border are turned off. But, since it is looks like fill is enabled what you could do is:
Select the View > Toolbars > Advanced Editing menu item
Click on the Select Object tool  (it's the arrow that points to the upper left on the Advanced Editing toolbar)
Right mouse click on the signature field that is obscuring the underlying text or image
Select Properties from the pop-up menu
Select the Appearance tab on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
Click the button next to Fill Color and then select No Color from the pop-up pallet
Click the Close button on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
That should get you fixed up. I hope this helps,
Steve

  • Adobe Acrobat - Digital Signatures Security

    Hi,
The business I am working for is making a push for online fill in forms for simplicity and less paperwork. At the moment they are using word docs with fill in sections that are terrible to deal with and still require you to print them out to sign it.
I have developed a PDF fill in form using Adobe LiveCycle that uses digital signatures. My only worry is how the digital signatures are created. It seems it is fairly easy to create a digital signature for someone else and use it without it being authenticated.
I have done some reading around and it seems to suggest that you are able to intergrate windows user accounts with adobe security somehow, but I am unable to find how to do this. I also don't have access to any of the windows security certificates so I will need to pass on information to the external IT company that manages it for them to do.
So, more specific question: How do I intergrate Adobe Acrobat signatures/security with windows user accounts so that only a specific list of users are able to sign forms.
Or if there is a better way of doing this let me know.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You don't need to do anything. If the user has loaded their digital ID into the Windows Certificate Store (or the Mac Keychain) then Acrobat (and when I say Acrobat I mean both Acrobat & Reader) will pick up the digital ID and make it available at signing time in the Sign Document dialog, "Sign as" drop-down menu.

  • Can I create PAdES signature using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or 9.0?

    Hi
Can I create PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures, Technical Specification ETSI TS 102 778) signature using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or 9.0?
ETSI Technical Specification (TS) 102 778 contains five parts:
    • Part 1: PAdES Overview – a framework document for PAdES
    • Part 2: PAdES Basic – Profile based on ISO 32000-1
    • Part 3: PAdES Enhanced – PAdES-Basic Electronic Signatures and PAdES-Explicit Policy Electronic Signatures Profiles
    • Part 4: PAdES Long Term – PAdES-Long Term Validation Profile
    • Part 5: PAdES for XML Content – Profiles for XAdES signatures of XML content in PDF files
All five parts were published on 31 July 2009.
    Thanks for answer.
    Dragan

    Hi,
    The short answer is yes.
Acrobat 8 and later support all of requirements of PAdES such as serial signing, long term validation (time stamping and embedded revocation responses) and signatures in the PKCS#7 format.

  • 3rd party signature handler set in Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional Extended gets reset

    Hi All,
I have got a 3rd party digital signature creating plug-in i.e. MySign . I have set it inside 'Preference > Security > Advanced Preferences > Creation > Default Method to Use when Signing and Encrypting Documents' > MySign. If I restart Adobe Acrobat that setting is lost and the Adobe Default Security handler is then used.
I don't want to set handler manually every time I restart Adobe Acrobat. I have figured out that Adobe Acrobat is creating a registry entry named aPrivKey against that inside cHandlers BUT it gets removed on Adobe restart if I set MySign as the handler in the first place.
Similarly I want the same handler to verify signatures. For that I have set 'Preferences > Security > Advanced Preferences > Verification > Always use the default method (overrides the document-specified method)' along with the name of handler i.e MySign but on restart of Adobe, this is also gets reset.
Any idea how to set my handler as default to sign & verify without getting it reset?

    Hi All,
I checked with Adobe X and this issue is not present there.

  • How do I delete a digital signature in adobe acrobat 8 as it has been spelt incorrectly?

A digital signature was created in adobe acrobat 8 professional but has been spelt incorrectly - how can I delete or edit it?

    What if you do this:
To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
But I do not think it will work since you can only sync/unsync with one iTunes library and the iPod sees the rebuilt computer as a new iTunes library.
    - Do the following to restore the iPod and not lose anything:
    - iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - If you have synced photos then you need a program like TouchCopy or PhoneView which are paid. They also do music.
    - Connect the iPod to the conmputer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices iniTunes and slect Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • How do I remove a digital signature from Adobe Acrobat Pro.  I have set it up wrongly.

I created a digital signature but I wanted to change the signature and it also was not password protected. So I deleted the signature but cannot delete the certificate to set it up again.
    Mac OS X (Operating System)
So I am unable to delete the digital signature in Acrobat Xi pro.
I did the following: Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Creation and Appearance Preferences and deleted the signature. But Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Digittal ID and Trusted Certificate Settings, does not want to delete.
    Tank you.

It's not clear to me what you're trying to accomplish. If you get rid of your digital ID you will still be prompted to create/add one when you need to sign a form, which you say you still need to do? Do you really just want to e-sign (hand-drawn signature, or stamp) instead of digitally sign? Do the forms you're using have digital signature fields?

  • Adobe Acrobate XI and SecCommerce SecSigner have a problem during signing of a document, creating/verification of the signature is not possible - solutions?

Adobe Acrobate XI and SecCommerce SecSigner have a problem during signing of a document, creating/verification of the signature is not possible - solutions? SecSigner is not responding.

Well, I contacted SecCommerce about the issue, the response was, that I should sign the file later (afterwards). This is a solution, but not the best in my opinion.
When I sign the document the SecSigner window/Java window appears and freezes. Adobe is not responding. I have to terminate Adobe because the program is not responding.
I only found this support website, so I have realized that this is a User 2 User site, but it was a try to get some help.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - Signature Issue after upgrade

I have updated to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from Acrobat 7 Standard. I have several pdf files that I have signed and secured. These files have been set to not allow clients to remove or alter various pages. I did not save a copy without the signature or security settings. I have not been able to get back into 7 Standard to try and retrieve the signature. I do have a complete backup of the program files. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to retrieve the signature (or signature files) from Standard 7 and place it in 9 Pro Extended? I am using the same computer and as mentioned above I have a complete backup of 7 standard program files prior to the update. I would like to be able to remove the signature and alter the security settings in Pro 9 Extended.

  • Adobe Acrobat Version 9.0 & X are not showing "Clear Signature Field" with Custom e-sign plug-in

    Hi...
We have created Custom PDF signature plug-in using Adobe X SDK.
Earlier we had the same Custom PDF signature plug-in with Adobe 7.0 SDK and it used to show "Clear Signature Field" in context menu of digital signature placed on PDF.
After upgrading the Custom signature plug-in to Adobe X SDK (complied again with SDK X, earlier it used to be 5.0 SDK) to support Acrobat 9, X and XI for digital signature, the "Clear Signature Field" option is appearing in context menu of digital signature box. Even the "Clear Signature Field" option is not shown for the user who has signed the document.
"Clear Signature" option is available for Adobe Default Security signature.
We have not changed anything in our plug-in code apart from recompiling it with Adobe X SDK.
This is a critical issue for us.
Here is the screen-shot from signed PDF having Adobe Default signature as well as our Custom plug-in signature.
Here it clearly shows that "Clear Signature" option is not present in signature placed by Custom plug-in.
Please let us know if anyone else has faced this type of issue earlier and has a resolution.
    Thanks In Advance...
    Waseem

I am still not getting the Clear signature option for the user who has signed the PDF using Custom PDF Signature plug-in but the same is available for Acrobat Default security signature.
Custom plug-in is compliled with Adobe X SDK and we have not made any code change to hide the Clear Signature option.
I found a related posts where Clear Signature option is not shown:

  • Appearance of Digital Signature in Adobe Acrobat 8

I am creating a digital Signature in Adobe Acrobat 8 and am having difficulty getting all the information to appear clearly. The first example below shows, the signature, name and date. I would also like to include the name of the Company. The only way I have been able to do that is by clicking the “distinguished name” box in the appearance section of the digital signatures. An example of this signature is also shown below. However, additional information such as the name (again), email and country are also being listed. There are numerous abbreviations and equal signs now appearing as well. Ideally I would like the signature to look like the first one with the company name appearing just above the person’s name. Can anyone help me do this?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
For the first problem (word wrap).  The problem you are encountering is if "Maryanne Doe" is too long to fit in half of the signature field, the text wraps to the next line. The signature appearance that is written into the signature field consists of two halves. The left half contains the graphic properties and the right half contains the text properties.
You need to lengthen the width of the area where the graphics portion of the signature is contained. You can do this one of two way. Either lengthen the physical dimensions of the signature field before you sign. Or, you could create a custom signature appearance where you turn off all of the text properties, which has the effect of giving the whole signature fields over to the graphics portion. To play with custom signature appearances:
Select the Edit > Preferences (Win) or the Acrobat > Preferences (Mac) menu item
Select Security from the Categories list box
Click the New button in the Appearance group box
If you select the No Graphic radio button you give all of the space to the text portion. If you deselect all of the checkboxes in the Configure Text area, you give all of the space to the graphics portion.
While you are in the Preferences dialog, select Identity from the Categories list box. Go ahead and fill in all of the editable fields. This is where the data is procured during the creation of a self-signed digital ID. I think that will fix the second issue you raised.

  • How do I remove the digital signature option on Adobe Acrobat 7.x? I don't want it, but it pops up every time I need to sign a form, and I cannot find a way to remove

I created a digital signature to sign forms using Adobe Acrobat 7.x. I really don't want or need this feature, but do not know how to remove it or keep it from popping up every time I need to sign a form. Can anyone help? I'm not that technically savvy, so please explain in layman's terms. Thanks!

Why I can't put signature in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC? I can use a picture as a signature in Adobe Reader XI, why Adobe Acrobat Reader DC doesn't have this option?

  • Removing digital signatures created in a previous version of adobe acrobat pro

I recently installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro, which required the removal of my previous version (8 Pro). I have several PDF docs created in (8 pro) with signature fields. I reuse these docs inputting updated info. When I do I clear the signature field, and place a new signature. After installed (X Pro) I can no longer clear the signature fields to place an updated signature. I am assuming that the new installation deleted my old signature ID that I created with (8 pro). Is there any way to clear my old signatures?

I don't think it should have deleted the digital ID file, so if you can find it you should be able to add it in Acrobat. Seach you system for any .pfx files to see if you can find it. See this previous thread for some potentially helpful info: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/991314
In the future, be sure to keep a backup of any digital ID files you have.
