Adobe Acrobat Automatic Update Issues

When I let Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard Automatic Updater install update 8.1.4, it crashes my operating system, Windows Vista Home Premium, and I have to recover it using latest known good configuration. What can I do to solve this problem? I am using 8.1.3.

Acrobat automatically downloaded an update that I don't want to install. How do I keep the update that is already downloaded to my computer from installing. There is a pop up window that asks me if I want to install the update. I would like to delete the file and not have it install. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • Acrobat Automatic Update and Virus Threat

    Hey Everyone:
I have a quick question I was hoping someone could answer for me. I was tricked by some malware/spyware a few months ago by a program that passed itself off as an Adobe Acrobat Automatic Updater. Still not sure where I got it from.
Anyhow, I was wondering if I should completely avoid Automatic Updaters and come straight to Adobe for the updates, or is there a step that I can take to assure that I know the updater is legitimate.
This is probably an oversimplistic question, but I am very apprehensive about ALL automatic updaters now.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Adam Rockwell

If you get a notice, then go to the help menu in Acrobat and use the check for updates there. You can also go to Adobe.com>downloads and select the updates under the reader link in the upper right of the screen. If you do the latter manual update, you have to download all updates after the version you have and install them in order.

    hello
I say again that I have acquired the Acrobat 8.0 version honestly. I ordered this version even if a handler is Germany. This handler was registered on the website at Adobe as a handler. If you do not believe me, I'm looking for stuff from my archive. But this time I would like to have then paid by you. Again, it is known that the version 8 Without the update 8.3, constantly has errors. I used to simply confirmed the update button. Today there is no longer this site. You are obliged to provide me with the update. Or give me a free replacement to the next higher version. Please give me a link to a zip file that contains a setup file.
    Best Regards
    Werner
    Hallo

  • Adobe Acrobate 10 updates set computer to previous system restore point

I just installed the update for Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro and realized that the update put my computer to a restore point from the previous week.  Unfortunately I had installed  critical updates to other software last week, all of which were not captured in that restore point.  I now have to go through and reinstall the updates.  I am wondering why this happened and whether or not this is something I will have to contend with everytime the software updates?

How did you purchase? AA8 has not been available for almost 8 yrs or so. The only current version available from Adobe is 11 and you can not upgrade from 7 to 11, but have to buy the full product.
Updates also require the use of the S/N of the qualifying product (AA7 in your case) to be able to use the newer product. So at this point, it is unclear what you actually have.

I was not trying to imply that you improperly purchased the product, but that the source may have been a rip off and that could be the problem. From what I can see, it appears that you were able to install Acrobat, but can not do the updates. In that case, try the updates from the ftp site. I will have to come back with the address that I do not have on this machine. The html updates are no longer available for some reason, but the ftp site contains all the updates. You do have to install the updates in order in general, though you only have to reboot after the last update. I will change computers and find the ftp link to provide you.
    The ftp site is: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/.

Duplex is a property of the printer and by itself Acrobat cannot globally set the attribute.
You might create (install) a second instance of the printer and name it accordingly - "Duplex Printer"

Need root cause and  please suggest solution ?

    Solved it!
    1-go to "edit", select Preferences.
2-select from the left pane: Security (enhanced)
3-click on "add folder path" button just below the big white box
4-pick a folder of your choice and click "ok". (your selected folder path will appear in that white box above the "add folder path" button in step 3)
5-if you want to add additional folders, just repeat steps 3 & 4
6-once you are done, click "ok" on the preferences screen and click "ok" again to accept the changes.
Yes, it seems illogical, but it worked.
I tested by closing the Reader (X), then surfed the web and did what Neher5 was explaining he/she wanted to do just after opening a pdf from a website and lo-and-behold,  it worked!. No more "save to temp folder" issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where can I download Adobe Acrobat 9 updates?  (Automatic updater says no update available.  Adobe Acrobat is on version 9.0)

I can find update files for version 10 but not 9.
Google search results that would seem to link to the download I need, get to a web page that says forbidden.

    Solved!
Since Acrobat 9.2 and up are officially compatible with Windows 7, and therefore Acrobat 9 is likely still in wide scale use, I knew that the actual IT guys at Adobe would never delete the actual patch files off their servers (being an IT guy myself).
So even if the website got changed and no longer provides the links, and even if the "support" idiots that answer the phone in India can't figure out anything past "its not supported, and the website doesn't provide it", all that is needed is to find a 3rd party website that links to the actual patch files instead of linking to Adobe's download partal.
So after wading through about 20 pages of Google's search results, I finally found one here: Article: Adobe Acrobat 9.5.1 - The Path of Least Resistance | ITNinja

  • Acrobat automatic update 3/24/09

Well I am at my wits end with CS3.Really, I have had it. When I first installed CS3 and ran all the updates (like last year) I had a world of trouble, uninstalled, repaired, reinstalled, PDF maker wasn't coming up in other applications, Photoshop and Illustrator would open but you couldn't open any file, and on and on it went . I called Tech support and of course, since CS4 has come out, you have to PAY for support for CS3 Great :-(
I was told it was far easier to just start over and make a new User account (yes I am running Vista 32bit) which I did and viola, everything works. So I am told by tech support it would be far easier to just move my things over to the new user then to hunt and peck and try to find the problem. It was alot of work moving everything from one user to another, lost all my settings in other programs that I use, yada yada.
But basically all was fixed and all the programs in CS3 now work.
Well Monday I get an automatic update for Acrobat 8 Professional and like a STUPID FICKIN IDIOT I went ahead and installed the dam thing. I am now kicking myself all over this office.
you guessed it, now I can't get my PDF convertor to make any PDFs thru any of the applications (Word, Publisher, etc) Error message is that the port for the PDF printer is missing.
So I find a thread here and go in and uninstall Acrobat 8.l.4 that the update did and then reinstalled and GUESS WHAT HAPPENS.? Yup, totally screws up all the CS3 programs YET AGAIN. All the PDF converters disappear totally from the apps, can't open files in Photoshop or Illustrator.
I am BEYOND PISSED. it takes forever to uninstall this dam bloated goat of a software suite, and I have a stack of documents that I need to convert to PDF tonight.
You know, if I could get my hands on the SOMEONE from Adobe right now, I could wring their neck until their EYEBALLS pop out of their heads, because that is how PISSED I am.
IF ANYONE has any ideas please let me know.
Should I attempt to reinstall CS3 back into the same user or should I just make a new user account again.
    Sincerely
Super Frustrated VERY ANTI ADOBE USER

One key for Adobe products is to install while logged in as the administrator. I do not know what your problem is, but I have no problem with AA8. It seems from past posts that there is an issue with the CS installations. For some reason several folks have had problems with Acrobat through that route, but I don't remember if there was a solution offered.

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat DC Update Fail on a Mac Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2?

I don't have Adobe Acrobat installed anymore, yet CC is still telling me I need to update Adobe Acrobat DC. When I try to update it, it gets to 35% and fails, every time. I've tried quitting and reopening CC; quitting CC, deleting the OOBE folder in my profile, and reopening CC. Regardless, it fails. Here's the output:
    Exit Code: 7

    3. Share PDApp.log file from ~/Library/Logs, Acrobat Installer logs (Adobe Setup Error.log and Adobe Acrobat DC 15.007.20033 <Date>.log.gz) from /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers and install.log from /var/log.
    4. proxy.xml if present in /tmp/58A66F1A-A7D8-4523-AC9C-AF23DB3337F3/proxy.xml .
