Adobe acrobat crashed

Every time I try to open a pdf on chrome I get the message, adobe acrobat has crashed. Is there anything i can do about this? I tried reinstalling the reader but nothing worked.

What OS are you running? You hopefully mean Adobe Reader, not Adobe Acrobat two different products. What web browser are you using? How are you trying to open and read the pdf files: downloading and opening in Reader or reading in the Reader plug-in within your browser.

If anyone has a similar issue I found this on the Adobe forums where a similar crash was occurring on printing in Creative Suite 4 ...
To avoid this crash  try this workaround.
remove adobe PDF PPD from the following folders:
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj,
I have removed the ppd's folders (although retaining the en.lproj folder seems to be OK) ... per above and now I do not crash when accessing the preference I need to get to.

There was this other discussion where a link to a patch from Adobe
was supposed to help with some versions of Acrobat & its Crash:
•Adobe Acrobat Pro - crash:  an ASC discussion  [April 2014]

seems the recent event requires Mavericks 10.9.2 & an Intel Mac
Product crash using Find on Macintosh 10.9.2 (Mavericks)
The following issue only appears when the following is true:
    Macintosh 10.9.2 (Mavericks)
Acrobat or Reader 11.0 or later
The Find box is open in a multi-page document
You navigate across a page boundary

This should not, in any way, affect a crash on old vintage pre-2006 versions
however a crash or failure in an application could be checked out by looking
into the Console utility's crash logs, in approximate Time/Day it happened,
to see the report. That may tell an expert what went wrong, if you posted it
into a new topic thread. There are people here who could resolve an issue.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Adobe Acrobat crashes repeatedly on my iMac

I work a LOT with PDFs. I literally have thousands and thousands of articles. Why is it that either when I open a PDF on my iMac, Acrobat crashes or after the PDF has been open for a few minutes, the program crashes. This directly affects my ability to work and it affects my ability to work in a timely manner and meet deadlines. Ps, this is Adobe Acrobat through Creative Cloud.

    Hi Rahul,
I've just had the program crash 4 times in the space of 10 minutes. And
there is no rhyme or reason in terms of which files I'm working off or how
long. I could download a brand new PDF and the program crashes. I could
open an old PDF I've had and it crashes. I could be working for 3 hours
before a crash and then it starts crashing every 2-3 minutes. I could be
working for 5 minutes and it'll start crashing. Basically, this program
sucks so badly but I have no other option because I work with literally
tens of thousands of PDFs. I lose hours of work to this and it impacts my
deadlines and my bottom line. It also makes me look bad when material that
should have been highlighted for fact checking isn't highlighted because
the program crashed on me and lost every single thing I was working on and
I don't have the time or capacity to redo my work multiple times.
There is a specific error message but I will have to wait until the next
time to see what it says and then I will copy and paste it for you.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional Random Crash (Access Violation)

hi all. first time poster. long time reader.
i have encountered an odd access violation problem - 'ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - The instruction at "blah" referenced memory at "blah". The memory could not be "blah" - in 'acrobat.dll' recently with a customer who is experiencing seemingly random crashes with adobe acrobat 8 professional.
they are running the application off a citrix presnetation server 4.5 server (windows server 2003 R2 with service pack 2). each server is hosting about 8 or more users per server per day. every now and then, ie once a day, adobe acrobat crashes during use. there doesn't appear to be anything consistent in so far as the action the user is performing. they will be mid-way through marking up a document and it will just crash for one of them. all the others will continue working fine.
i have access to numerous crash dumps and nothing seems to really stand out...other than 'Acrobat_3000000!AVAcroALM_Destroy'. For example...

is 'AVAcroALM' to do with licensing?
other than advising them to bring citrix presentation server 4.5 up to date (HRP2) i'm at a loss what to advise. citrix often have issues with seamless published applications when spread across multiple monitors (as in this case), hence, my reason to ask them to bring their software up to date. often the funtion called will be different - often times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocCreateWordFinderEx', other times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocAcquirePage' and there are others.
i can post more of the mini-dump if required. any - and ALL - assitance appreciated.
    thanks.

  • Adobe Acrobat 11.0.0-11.0.9 crashing when clicking form box, saving, or closing form

I have a user that is using Adobe Acrobat Pro (originally 11.0.0 until I updated it to 11.0.9) that recently began having issues with editing forms within adobe.  She will open them, however periodically Acrobat will crash when she either clicks on a Form Box to highlight it, sometimes after she makes a change to the form and chooses to save the file, or virtually all of the time when she tries to close the form.  I have uninstalled Adobe Reader, Acrobat, Flash Player and reinstalled all of the above, along with using the utility to clean uninstall acrobat.  After the clean uninstall/reinstall, it would crash constantly whenever anything was done until it was updated, and then everything seemed fine for clicking on Form Boxes in edit mode, making changes, and saving, however it still crashed each time she would click on the "x" within the top right hand corner to close the form.  I performed the next update, and it seemed more issues began to happen.  I've done a repair a few times, and if anything, this only seemed to worsen the problems.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this?
    Kind regards,
    Rick E

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 crashing in Windows Vista - Need help

    Hi,
I have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in my system which has OS Windows Vista with SP1 and everytime I open a pdf using my newly installed adobe acrobat it crashes.
The general trend it after 10 seconds from opening that pdf file, it just automatically closes itself. I checked the system process and didn't see the adobe process running after it closed itself. So I feel it just crashes for some unknown reason.
I have 1440 X 900 resolution. Don't know if that can be a problem, but I have tried reducing the resolution too but with no help.
Can anyone help me solve this problem.

Since this is a USER TO USER forum, not Adobe support, and as the
only way another user could reply is if they had that exact problem
and also had a solution, you may need to contact Adobe for help

  • Adobe Acrobat pro 9.4.6 crashes when opening multiple files simultaneously.

We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 which has been updated to version 9.4.6. we had this problem when the 9.4.5 update was applied also. It is now crashing when we try to open multiple files simultaneously.
Yesterday, I narrowed down the problem to 6 plugins:
    IA32
    ADBC
    eBook
    EScript
    HLS
    PPKLite
    SaveAsRTS
However, we discovered that that Comments and markup tool bars weren't loading. So I did a repair install on it.
Now those plugins from yesterday work and Acroform.api is causing it to crash when opening multiple files.
I did try other suggestion that involved using Icacls/cacls on dll files to no avail.
It is running on XP SP3 fully updated with plenty of RAM and HDD space.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

I am not sure what's causing this problem on your machine because everything's working fine for me.

  • Adobe acrobat pro 9.2 crashes in windows xp sp3 when closing a pdf

Adobe acrobat pro 9.2 crashes in windows xp sp3 when I close a pdf. This means that if I have multiple files open, all of them close. I get an error message from windows that the problem is due to windows' Data Execution Prevention (DEP). I tried making Adobe an exception to windows' DEP and re-started the computer but this did not help the problem. Any ideas about how to fix this problem?

So.. If we want to control the "hardware graphics acceleration", should it be done inside the Adobe Acrobat Pro ?
If yes, which part of option should we changed ?
If not, can someone tell me which way to setting this one ?
Do anybody have other input ? This problem makes me crazy
Thank you so much in advanced.
