Hi Susan,
The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").

Adobe Acrobat Download and Reinstall on New Computer

I purchased and installed Adobe X back in Feb. But I would now like to download and install on another computer. I can find the product code but how do I access the download file for installation on another computer?

So the old computer bit the dust? If that is the case and this is Acrobat X Pro then it's just a matter of downloading the Trial version. The Trial version will accept your serial number. If this is Acrobat X Standard and you don't have access to the original download link that you were sent then you need to contact Adobe Customer Service.

Adobe acrobat anchor link not going to the right page.

I have anchor link from html page like http://www,pbgc.gov/docs/2006bluebook.pdf#page=15, when you try to click the link on my machine and some other employees it goes to first page rather than going to page 15. Other employees get page 15. Have anyone experience this issue or know why this issue happen in Adobe Acrobat.
Most our employees have Adobe Acrobat 8, Also there are some who have Adobe Acrobat 9. I was thinking it may due to the version but someone with Adobe 8 is also having the issue.

Is Adobe Reader being opened as a plugin in your browser, or as an external application? I think the links to specific locations in the document only work if Adobe Reader is used as a plugin. I've had the same problem, and it was because I didn't have Reader as a browser plugin.

Adobe does download to your computer but you have to install it following that. Look in your downloads folder to see if that is where it landed.

Unable to access Adobe Premiere download link after putting in redemption code.

I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0 a couple years ago. I purchased a new laptop and was able to download Photoshop. However, I always get an error when I try to access the download link to Premiere. Am I missing something?

Here are the points that I am not clear on....
1. As far as I know, there are no Premiere Elements 2 installation files to be downloaded from Adobe at this time. The exception
might be if you purchased as download from Adobe with the promise that the files would be available to you in the future for another
download if and when needed. That typically comes with a time limit of maybe 3 years (not sure). To follow up on that, you would
go to the Adobe web site, sign in with your Adobe ID and Password, type "My Orders" in the Search field, follow the "My Orders" link
until you get to your order specifically for Premiere Elements 2. That is the location where the installation files should be if still
available.
2. But "1" becomes questionable with your mention of redemption code. Adobe sales have typically given serial number not redemption code.
This makes me think that you purchased from a retailer. But, then from where are you now trying to download these Premiere Elements 2 installation
files.
3. I do not believe that you are going to be able to install Premiere Elements 2 on Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have a purchased Premiere Elements 2
installation disc, and later today I will try to install Premiere Elements 2 on my Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop.
Do you have any other information on this which would put the matter into perspective for me.

Adobe Acrobat vs Reader on client systems

Has anyone tried running the Adobe forms on a browser client system that has both full Acrobat and Reader accessing a webdynpro/adobe forms application ? What results did you get? What is the recommended situation for handling this type of client?

what happens with this setup depends on your Acrobat/Reader versions.
If you have the currently released 6.0.2 versions, the standard behaviour is that Acrobat opens.
If you want Reader to open instead, you'll need to use the Windows functions for File Type assignment under Folder Options -> File Types and assign Reader there. (It's described in the Adobe Document Services Configuration Guide.) This also means that if you want to use Acrobat for other files, you'll need to open Acrobat first to open the PDF.
(A workaround would be to keep Reader running in the background before opening the WD application with the form.)
As of the end of December, Adobe will ship Reader 7, which will allow you to determine your standard PDF opening tool through a dialogue, if you have both Acrobat and Reader installed.

There's nothing to troubleshoot. It won't show you apps you can't install. Acrobat X - no longer sold but still included with CS6 I think - was the last one to run on Vista.

Button refuses to link to client website

Hi again. I am having a real problem trying to get a button to link to my clients website. I have other buttons that go directly to websites and work fine, however I have tried over the past two days and still can not get to their website. When I click on the button I have attached what comes up on screen. Does it have anything to do with the 20% that comes after the .com???? I have typed and re-typed it a million times......any ideas.....not great to have their brochure that doesn't link back to their site. Any help would be so appreciated.

thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately I can't seem to get rid of the space. I have manually typed it over and over again. I have copied and pasted directly from the client website. I have placed my cursor before the m and arrowed over it and deleted. I have put my cursor at the end of the m and deleted which deletes the "m". I have put my cursor at the end of the .com and tried to arrow over but it won't move. I am at a total loss of how to get rid of a space that I swear doesn't exist but apparently it must!!!!! Should I do something right after I type it? I tried going out of the button menu so I wouldn't put any extra spaces inadvertently. Can you go into InDesign and try to make a button and see if it links? I know I am asking alot but I can't think of anyway around it???

Adobe Reader XI uses Adobe Export PDF online to convert the file into Word.
You can go to File > Save As > Word or Excel Online
You can even use Acrobat XI to convert a pdf to word document.
Go to File > Save as other... > Microsoft Word > Word document / Word 97-2003 document
You can even make a selection of any table in the pdf document and right click and select 'export as ' > Word document.
Or,
    Open a file in Acrobat XI.
    Choose Tools > Content Editing > Export File to Word document.
    Name the Word file and save it in a desired location.
