Adobe Acrobat Headers/Footers

We are using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.
One of our users has a document containing both a header and a footer.  She wants to remove the header but not the footer, but it seems to be all or nothing -- removing the header also removes the footer.  Does Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard have the capability to remove the header but leave the footer intact?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for the response.
The header and footer were added using Document/Header & Footer/Add.  However, subsequent to the headers being added, several hundred pages were removed from the middle of the document.  I want to retain the original footer numbers (which are no longer in numerical order; for example, page 2071 is now followed by page 5784).  The headers that were applies ARE in numerical order and that’s what I want to remove.  I do not want the footer page numbers to recalculate.  When I remove the header, the footer page numbers recalculate and are then in numerical order.
Any  ideas?

  • Save and Transfer Page Design Headers & Footers

    I would like to save adobe acrobat headers and footers I have created in separate template folders.  These would then be uploaded to a server with the ability to download onto any computer and apply as needed.  I also would like to have the ability to select templates directly from an open adobe acrobat  file rather than viewing all created headers and footers at once.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.0  Is this currently possible?   Thanks

    Your presets for watermarks, headers, backgrounds, etc. are all stored in XML files; so you can copy them around if you want.
    in Windows they are in subfolders under %APPDATA%\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Preferences

  • Centering Headers and Footers in Adobe Acrobat 9

    I've read past posts about the inability to center a multi-line header or footer in Adobe Acrobat 9, and the fact that it was not fixed in Acrobat 9.  Is anyone working on a fix, other than manually entering spaces to center the header or footer?  The frustrating thing about attempting this manual fix is that the preview one sees while entering the header/footer information DOES center the text, so that one does not have an accurate view of what will show on the page.  I know that one of the suggestions is to add this information before converting the document to Adobe Acrobat.  However, this occurred in a document I scanned using HP software, in which I requested that it be immediately converted to a PDF.  Unfortunately, as far as I can find, HP does not keep the original scan (unlike PaperPort), so I'd have to re-scan the document.  In the future, I will convert to Word, add the header, and then convert to PDF.
    Thanks!

    You can use the Watermark feature.

  • Headers/Footers in Adobe 8

    I am using Adobe 8 Professional and trying to add something to headers/footers. If I add one line of information, the text will be centered (n the center of the header). If I have at least two lines of text, the information will go into the center box, but be left aligned (not centered). Any ideas??? Thanks.

    I work for a large defense contractor and this problem--which did NOT exist in previous versions of Acrobat--is a virtual show-stopper for me (and my colleagues). All of our large documents have left, center, and right headers that are correspondingly justified. The left justification forced by version 8 is so goofy looking that I have to apply headers/footers with a computer that still has version 7 installed! Simon ATS, where do you get your information about version 9. Any comment from Adobe as to why they made this cockeyed change?

  • Acrobat 9 Pro ver. 9.4.2 Portfolio Welcome Page, Headers, Footers

    Acrobat 9.4.2 Portfolio Welcome Page, Headers, Footers
    I recently upgraded to Acrobat 9.4.2 and now cannot save welcome page, headers, footers in portfolios I create. Portfolios created in previous verisions of 9.X.X. properly display welcome page, headers, footers in 9.4.2. Anyone with ideas? Is there some setting I am missing?

    Josh, thanks for responding. Following summarizes my workflow:
    - Files selected via Windows Explorer, "Combine supported files in Acrobat" option.
    -  Select PDF portfolio, Combine.
    -  After portfolio is saved, Acrobat opens in the Home Page view displaying thumbnails of the converted files and Edit Portfolio already selected.
    -  Select Welcome Page, Image and Text insert same.
    -  Select Header, Logo and Structured Text, insert same.
    -  When finished, select Done.
    -  Select Save Portfolio icon.
    -  Deselect Edit Portfolio.
    -  Close Acrobat.
    -  Open portfolio, either double-clicking portfolio file name or starting Acrobat and selecting Open, file name.
    - Acrobat opens portfolio in Home view. The Welcome Page icon is grayed out.
    The above is my normal workflow; however, I observed that if after creating the portfolio's Welcome Page and Header and when exiting the program, if I receive the message "Do you want to save changes to the por tfolio before closing?", the Welcome Page and Headers are in fact saved. This is a very workable solution to the problem for me. There seems to be something going with saving via the icon. If for reason I do not receive the above message and the program exits, the Welcome Page and Headers are not saved.
    My operating system is WIndows XP Pro, SP3. BTW, 9.4.2 works fine on my Windows 7 machine and another XP machine with 9.0. Thanks in advance for your offer to help, but the workaround described above works and lowers my frustrationlevel considerably.

  • Embedding fonts for headers/footers added in Acrobat?

    Is there any way to embed fonts when adding headers/footers using Acrobat's "Add Header and Footer" command, other than running the files through a PitStop profile to correct the problem?
    Background:
    Recently, for the first time, we added footers to PDFs using Acrobat's "Add Header & Footer" command. We used our corporate identity font and placed information outside the trim, in the crop marks area. (We usually put this information in the slug in InDesign, but the printer's required settings did not allow slugs to be turned on.)
    The files were all kicked out by the printer's preflight because the font was not embedded. We've since discovered that our own preflight profile was set to ignore fonts outside of trim when checking for embedding, which is why it got past us.
    We've discovered a number of workarounds. Luckily, we have PitStop, so we created a profile to fix the problem. Our question remains: if Acrobat allows the addition of text to a PDF via headers and footers, why does it not embed the fonts automatically when doing so, when embedding is so crucial to successful output? It's odd that Acrobat has a very useful command that nevertheless breaks the file for output. Were I paranoid, I'd wonder if it was a carefully orchestrated campaign to make the purchase of PitStop not only wise, but required.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    It works providing you have that font name installed on your system.
    Available under the 'Document' section of the fixups ...
    Not major for pre-pressers since they use Pitstop but great for your
    clients since now THEY can fix THEIR problems (even THEIR advertisers
    problems which land on your desk at 5pm) ;-)

  • Creating 508 Adobe Acrobat Accessible Docs from various sources and formats

    Note: I have no 508 training, except for perusing of documents on the web.
    I need to create searchable 508 Compliance report documents for Adobe Acrobat (not for the web at this time) from merged PDF files.
    To create these reports, I do not have originals, all I have been given are PDFs, some of which have been created from Word and others scanned (some with OCR and some not).  Some of the reports are converted directly from Word but may also be a combination of electronic and scanned pages (signature pages, graphics, appendices, etc.)  Often the scanned pages have not been scanned to actual letter size (8.5 x. 11), but are smaller.  Sometimes they are larger or A4.
    In preparing the final report, I take all of the PDFs and merge them into one document.
    I add watermarks and headers/footers to the whole document.
    In order to get all of the watermarks and headers/footers to align on the page with ease, I need all of the pages to be the standard letter size of 8.5 x 11 without losing any information.
    The only way I can figure out how to achieve this is to take the pages (usually scanned pages) that need to be enlarged (sometimes reduced) and Print to a PDF.
    This will create a new PDF of the existing PDF; making it the standard letter size of 8.5 x 11, without cropping.
    I can then replace the odd-sized pages with the new PDF pages, creating a document where all of the pages are now the standard letter size of 8.5 x 11.
    Once my document is all the same size, I can add my watermarks and header/footers.
    I still need to make the whole document a searchable 508 Adobe Acrobat compliant document.
    I believe I need to run the OCR Text Recognition to convert/capture scanned pages and pictures to make this document a searchable 508 Adobe Acrobat compliant document.
    I tried running the OCR text recognition on the current merged (160 pages) PDF document (before adding my watermarks, headers/footers) to capture the scanned text, and I receive the following errors:
            This page contains renderable text.
            This page has graphics other than images or text on it. It cannot be captured.
    When I ran the Adobe Acrobat Accessibility checker, I get the following errors:
           The first page is a scanned signature page: the error says
    1 image with no alternate text
                1 element(s) that are not contained within the structure tree.
    1.     Inaccessible page content
         Most of the remaining detailed report errors are:
    Inaccessible page content
    1 element(s) that are not contained within the structure tree.
    I tested one page and used the Touch Up Reading Order tool and added alternate text to a signature block, ran the accessibility checker again, but still came back with alternate text errors.
    I am open to suggestions.  Feel free to advise me from beginning to end in regards to what I’m trying to accomplish.
    THANK YOU!

    You do have a boat load of work.
         This page contains renderable text.
         This page has graphics other than images or text on it. It cannot be captured.
    This isn't an "error". Acrobat's OCR cannot process  PDF page content that is not exclusively an image.
        1 image with no alternate text
    When properly tagged, an image or graphic in a PDF is identified by the PDF element "Figure"
    (<Figure>).
    All Figures shall have an Alternate Text Description.
    You may have images/graphics that are tagged as Figures but should be Artifacts.
    OCR - The hidden layer of OCR output provided by Searchable Image or Searchable Image (Exact)
    is, for practicable purposes, not something one can effectively created Tagged PDF from.
    Prior to Acrobat 9 one would use Formatted Text and Graphics. With Acrobat 9 one would use
    ClearScan. Alternatively, one might just re-key the content in an authoring application and output Tagged, accessible PDF.
    Watermarks & Header/Footers -
    Oh boy; well, once you have everything else in a "green board" line up you'd add these and manually
    "fold" them into the structure tree via proper tagging.
    So, the first step is to gain at least a fundamental understanding of what an Accessible PDF is and
    how to create it. Then you'd want to become familiar with Section 508 1194.22.
    As each of the paragraphs are correlated to WCAG 1.0, you'll want to review it to understand what
    the correlation is and how it relates to PDF.
    However, Section 508 will be changing.

  • Removing Existing Headers & Footers?

    How do I remove existing headers and footers that were created in Adobe Acrobat at 9.5.4 in a PDF document and I keep getting the message:  "Acrobat cannot find any headers or footers in this file. • Adobe Acrobat 8 Plug-in GUI issues in Mac OS 10.4.11 using XCode 2.5

    I am trying to port my plug-in to Acrobat 8. I have been maintaining this plug-in from Acrobat 5 on both PC and Mac. I am now having some trouble with the UI components of the Plug-in on the Mac. I can load and debug my plug-in on Acrobat 8, however my toolbar does not show up. Also, the modal dialog box that needs to launch does not. I am having trouble locating an example, or some documentation.
    For the Toolbar button, I am using the following code from the Stamper example.
    void *GetStamperToolButtonIcon(void)
    #ifdef MAC_PLATFORM
    extern CFBundleRef gPluginBundle;
    AVIconDataRec iconData;
    // Find a resource in the plugin bundle by name and type.
    CFURLRef pingURL = CFBundleCopyResourceURL( gPluginBundle,
    CFSTR("StamperIcon"),
    CFSTR("png"),
    NULL );
    ASFile asf = NULL;
    ASPathName aspn = ASFileSysCreatePathName (NULL,ASAtomFromString("CFURLRef"),
    pingURL, NULL);
    ASFileSysOpenFile(NULL, aspn, ASFILE_READ, &asf);
    ASUns32 dataSize = ASFileGetEOF(asf);
    ASUns8 *data = (ASUns8 *)ASmalloc(dataSize + 1);
    ASFileRead(asf, (char *)data, dataSize);
    ASFileClose(asf);
    iconData.dataStm = ASMemStmRdOpen((char *)data, dataSize);
    iconData.eColorFormat = kAVIconColor;
    return AVAppCreateIconBundle6(kAVIconPNG, &iconData, 1);
    #elif WIN_PLATFORM
    return(AVCursor)LoadBitmap(gHINSTANCE, MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDB_BITMAP1));
    #endif
    This works for the stamper, and correctly displays the Stamper Icon in the toolbar, but when I try to create a new PNG file with the same name, the button no longer works. Also, if I try to change the name of the PNG file to "MyTool.png" and then the reference from CFSTR("StamperIcon") to CFSTR("MyTool") the button no longer works. Does anyone have any insight? In my research, I have come across SafeGetResource, and using the resource chain, however, I can not get this to work either.
    The Modal Dialog I am trying to display is in a RSRC file, and it does not launch when I call sADMDialog->Modal() like it does in Acrobat 7, 6, and 5. Are there any Mac examples of plug-ins that use ADM, or platform specific Modal Dialog Boxes?
    I have read the SDK documentation, but I can not find any code samples.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thank You,
    Austin

    As of now I am unable to link up the objective c cocoa code when I build the plug-in. I can compile but not link. The error I get is below. Note that is that there is a -framework Carbon flag, but no -framework Cocoa flag. I have modified the Stamper example plug-in provided with the SDK and I can not find how to tweak the project settings to use the cocoa framework. If I can not figure out this linking problem, I will create a small project demonstrating the issues I am having and I will post it.

    When site is with NTLM authentication, adobe acrobat x pro opens and allow to edit successfully. But when it there is Claim Based authentication, it cannot. It seems Adobe Acrobat X Pro does not have capability to send appropriate headers to handle claim based authentication. Also it is not able handle the sequence of request-response for claim based authentication. When searched on web, there is one product of Acrobat called LiveCycle, which has capability to handle SAML. Does that mean Adobe Acrobat X Pro does not have the capability to handle Claim based authentication so it is depend on LiveCycle for it?
    thanks

  • Add Header, footer and Margin programmatically in Adobe Acrobat 7.0

    I am using adobe acrobat 7.0 profesinal, We receive multiple PDF files then we have
    to add header and footers and also change the Megins in these files.
    Is this possible we can made these changes using Code written in VBA, VB6 etc.
    So my point is add header & footer programmatically using VBA and VB6.
    Is there need to access any APIs.?
    What I have to to for this purpose??
    Thanks in advance
    Aftab.

    Do they print if you chose to shrink to printable area in the printing options? I'm wondering if it's possible that your printer has a default border and the header/footer is getting cut off.

  • JTable Print to Adobe Acrobat Error

    I'm having trouble printing a jTable using Java 1.5.0_03 to Adobe Acrobat (6.0). Whenever I call print using (assuming proper try/catch statements) either
    jTable.print();or
    printJob.setPrintable(jTable.getPrintable(JTable.PrintMode.FIT_WIDTH, new MessageFormat("Header"), new MessageFormat("Footer")));
    if (printJob.printDialog())
    printJob.print();the printed jTable's column headers extend higher than they are supposed to like they were stretched (like when you drag the scroll bar down on your screen and the screen freezes), and effectively cover up parts of the header (the "Header" in this case).
    My jTable is setup as follows
    XYZ = new DefaultTableModel();
    XYZ.addColumn("A");
    XYZ.addColumn("B");
    jTable = new JTable();
    jTable.setModel(XYZ);I think this is an error with how the print function interacts with Adobe Acrobat as I don't have this problem printing to a normal printer. Is there any way to fix this?

    Are you saying there is no Adobe PDF printer, or it does not work? If it simply that it does not seem to work, then try to print to file with the printer. Then open the file in Distiller. If you get a resultant PDF, then the problem is most likely that you have somehow deactivated AcroTray.exe in the running applications. The program is in the Acrobat folder and needs to be started in that case. It should also be listed in your boot sequence for startup.

  • How do you deploy adobe acrobat xi from creative cloud for enterprise?

    Hello,
         We purchased Creative Cloud Enterprise and our new supervisor wants adobe acrobat on all computers.  I downloaded the package through Creative Cloud and used the customization wizard to customize the msi in the exceptions folder just like the instructions said.  I followed the steps and deployed it out using Dell Kace.  When a user tries to open Acrobat, it tells them they have a trial version and they must register the product.  The instructions for the customization wizard said not to put the creative cloud serial number into the customization tool.  Is there something I'm missing with deploying adobe acrobat and creative cloud?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    I'm not a CC expert, but I think normally admins configure Acrobat and then deploy everything via the Creative Cloud Packager. Acrobat certainly needs to be licensed, so when you only have a CC license, it's best to deploy in a standard way so that Acrobat get serialized with the license you have.

  • Can I create PAdES signature using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or 9.0?

    Hi
    Can I create PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures, Technical Specification ETSI TS 102 778) signature using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or 9.0?
    ETSI Technical Specification (TS) 102 778 contains five parts:
    • Part 1: PAdES Overview – a framework document for PAdES
    • Part 2: PAdES Basic – Profile based on ISO 32000-1
    • Part 3: PAdES Enhanced – PAdES-Basic Electronic Signatures and PAdES-Explicit Policy Electronic Signatures Profiles
    • Part 4: PAdES Long Term – PAdES-Long Term Validation Profile
    • Part 5: PAdES for XML Content – Profiles for XAdES signatures of XML content in PDF files
    All five parts were published on 31 July 2009.
    Thanks for answer.
    Dragan

    Hi,
    The short answer is yes.
    Acrobat 8 and later support all of requirements of PAdES such as serial signing, long term validation (time stamping and embedded revocation responses) and signatures in the PKCS#7 format.
