There is little interest in automating Acrobat with Java, since it cannot be run on a server. On a client workstation, OLE is available, and perhaps Java can use that.
(JavaScript is of course another story).

I am having problems building and running SDK samples.
When built “out of the box”, the WebLinkDemo fails while getting HFT for AcroColor.

Thank you!Perhaps a little more context. You should understand that the Acrobat SDK is a tool for encouraging people to buy Acrobat - especially the consumers of plug-ins.
Reader plug-ins can be made, subject to technical limitations, but Adobe do not especially like the lost sales of Acrobat this may represent.
In addition to purchasing Acrobat, you will need to buy a Reader integration key, after negotatiation. Approval is not automatic! There are also two scales of fees, one for regular Reader plug-ins and one for security related plug-ins, for which Adobe has a much higher fee and demands much more oversight.

Reader Integration keys are only available to strategic partners based on a negotiated price. If you are developing a digital rights management (DRM) Adobe Reader plug-in, the standard (non-DRM) RIKLA contract does not apply. Adobe does offer a DRM agreement specifically for developers building such Adobe Reader plug-ins. The current fee structure for the DRM RIKLA includes a $50,000 annual fee and a 5.5% revenue royalty."

So, yes, to experiment with plug-ins, whether for Acrobat or eventually for Reader, please listen to what we are telling you and if you want to do this, buy Acrobat. -
I just subscribed to Adobe Acrobat Standard from the cloud. I am running microsoft Vista and Google Chrome browser. I get the error message Adobe Acrobat is not currently available for your language or platform. For a list of supported platforms and languages: and I believe I meet the Vista requirements. How do I resolve this issue?
LorettaKallen are you trying to install Adobe Acrobat Standard 11 utilizing the Adobe Application Manager? Do you receive the same error message if you use Internet Explorer or Firefox?

My company has currently developed a system for capturing 3D model review comments using a simple 2D screen shot functionality. We would like to integrate 3D PDF viewing capabilities into our application; I therefore have a few questions:
1) Is the use of Adobe Acrobat 8 SDK in our application allowed and also is this royalty free? Is there any cost incurred in using it?
2) Once we have added the SDK to our project are we able to remove all toolbars, and all tabs from being visible. Therefore only showing the 3D viewing window?
3) Are we able to call up the Model Tree control in our application?
4) Are we able to add a comment to a 3D element programmable / using code?
5) Are we able to navigate to a comment using code?
6) Are we able to retrieve the name of the item selected either in the 3D viewer or in the Model Tree control?

The Acrobat SDK is a set of tools for automating Acrobat. The SDK is
free, but of course Acrobat (or perhaps Acrobat 3D) has to be
purchased and deployed for each end user.
Sorry, I don't know the capabilities of the SDK in terms of 3D
processing.

Can anybody point me towards any FLEX 3 + AS3 code useage that builds Adobe Acrobat "Academic Library Facilities" e.g. Organiser into a Fully functioning website. I have chased the Adobe Acrobat Library SDK all around the Adobe site and through Google but I am still feeling that I have to work it out for myself.

Vista is not supported for Acrobat XI or Acrobat DC, even if you can ignore the requirements and force the trial to install. Adobe don't test it on Vista, so they can't and won't support it.

I just installed the free trial Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and it is not allowing me to freely convert a pdf to a word document????!!!! Why is this? Does anyone have this problem?
When you report a problem you should always try to include as much relevant information as possible. Saying "it doesn't work, help me!" is not very helpful to us, because there could be a million reasons for it not working... What exactly happens when you try to convert a PDF to Word? Are there any error messages? How exactly are you trying to do it? Also, what operating system do you use? What version of Word? What exactly version of Acrobat? etc.

Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard Question - Converting PDF to word document
Question: I currently have Adobe Acrobat 8. I need to convert a PDF to word document. I know how to do that but the outcome of the word document sometimes varies as to retaining the exact formatting. How can I retain exact formatting? Is there something that I'm not doing that I need to be doing in order to retain the formatting. Also do newer versions (Adobe Acrobat 11 (Standard or Pro?)) do a better job of converting and retaining formatting?
Retaining the exact formatting is not possible in practice or in theory because Word documents are nothing like PDFs. For example, Word will cheerfully reflow text onto new lines or pages, while this will never happen with a PDF.
That said, Adobe keep trying to get closer to what people need. Sometimes this results in complex parts of the file being made into an uneditable graphic or text box.
Bottom line is you can get the basics into Word and then (according to your time, experience, and the abilities of Word) you might be able to reconstruct.
On no account convert official forms to Word. -

Word 2013 uses its own pdf creator engine as far as I know. The step I performed were:
1 - In the save settings I told word to embed fonts (sorry for the language, I have the Italian client)
2 - Export from Word -> Save As -> .pdf adding also the table of contents/index
N.B. I cannot use PDF/A, and in any case it doesn't embed the font
A working solution is to use Acrobat XI to convert it or print with Adobe PDF printer, results:
The problems are 2:
1 - It doesn't create any bookmark and doesn't create links from the table of images to the linked images
2 - Images, also with the preset "High Quality Printing" customized using "No compression", are really ugly and if you zoom a bit more than 100% they totally be s**t. It wasn't that way with PDF created by word.
In the end, or I find they way to open the pdf created by word and embedd the missing font, or I find a way to make Acrobat XI creating bookmarks from the word file.

hello, i've win7 64bit and can use my adobe acrobat 7.0.0.2004121400. but it is not possible to print a pdf - error 20225 at the installation of acrobat. any ideas how to solve this problem? GoLive wirste wohl gar nicht zum laufen kriegen. ohnehin würde man es nicht mehr verwenden, weil es noch nicht mal CSS2 voll unterstützt geschweige denn HTML 5 und andere moderne Webstandards. Wenn überhaupt, dann findeste vielleicht noch 'ne OEM CD von Strato oder 1und1 bei eBay. Die haben das damals mit jedem neuen Hostingvertrag rausgehauen. Aber wie gesagt, es ist den Aufwand nicht wert. Illustrator sollte sich durchaus installieren lassen. Eventuell einfach nochmal die Installer im Win XP Kompatibilitätsmodus laufen lassen...

Acrobat lets you created PDF forms that can be used with FormsCentral, and Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop version of the FormsCentral designer application, which can create PDF forms.
