Adobe Acrobat not compatible?

I am trying to connect/set-up a scanner with my computer, but am getting a message that Adobe Acrobat is not compatible

Did you install reader or such on Win8? AA5 is not even compatible with Win7, though it can be made to work with work arounds for the 32-bit version. I suspect you also have a 64-bit system, which I think is totally incompatibile with AA5. Download the Reader XI and try to open the PDFs with that. I suspect they will open fine.
If you want to create PDFs, you will need to purchase AA XI.

  • Why will Adobe Acrobat not load PDF from my work website, but will load on other computers?

Why will Adobe Acrobat not load PDF from my work website, but will load on other computers?  I have to log in to a website to get our orders, and we thought it was the website at first, but have since realized it is just my computer with this issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and still it does not work.

You ask "why", but don't provide any information...
    What is your operating system?
    What is your web browser?
Are you asking about Adobe Reader or Acrobat?
What is your Reader / Acrobat version?
What exactly means "will not load"?

Is adobe creative not compatible with linux ?

Windows Server 2012 is not an officially supported OS but it might work.
For reference each application has a Tech Spec link on its product page. From the Creative Cloud Apps page at https://creative.adobe.com/apps click on the Learn More link to go to the product page and you will see the Tech Spec link in the top menu.
There is a free 30 day trial for the applications. You can try them out on a Windows Server 2012 machine and see if they work to your satisfaction.

I posted the question above about 45 minutes to one hour ago never saw it come up on the list. Trying again...
Why can't I just contact Adobe directly? (My previous question is more important at the moment)

    Hi Matt,
You can purchase Acrobat from the below mentioned URL.

  • Java script created in Adobe Acrobat not working in Reader

    Hello,
This is my first post, so I hope I chose the correct path for it
    Let's get to the point:
I created a java script in Adobe Acrobat according to your tutorial page:
    search.matchCase = false;
    search.wordMatching = "BooleanQuery";
    search.bookmarks = false;
    search.query("Mytxt","Folder","../My directory");
which I found to be working as a let's call it a relative link, beacuse, after copying my file into another folder it would still work. But when I opened the same file in Adobe Reader I got a Console message:
Acrobat EScript Built-in Functions Version 10.0
    Acrobat SOAP 10.0
    GeneralError: Operation failed.
    Search.query:4:Link undefined:Mouse Up
    Folder does not exist
As I mentioned before the same file does return the results of the search.query in this folder in Acrobat. Any ideas? Suggestions? What might be the problem?

Thanks to your suggestion I started digging into the directories, so here's what's funny:
    Title Page - main folder
    Page 1 - sub folder
Searched PDFs - sub sub folder
I open the Title Page, then using a bookmark I open a new file in the same window: Page 1. There i have site links that allow me to perform search.query()
And now to the funny part:
    In Acrobat:
If I open the "Title Page" and from there go to Page 1 my directory has to be:
    ../Main Folder/Sub Folder/Sub Sub Folder
    to perform the required search
However If I open the "Page 1" manually my directory for the same java script has to be:
    ../Sub Folder/Sub Sub Folder
    otherwise I get an error.
    Anyway
Both don't seem to work in Reader....

  • Adobe Acrobat NOT Embedding All Fonts...

    Hi all,
We are using Adobe Acrobat 8.0.
One of the Print Houses trying to print our manuals on press is having font trouble. They are claiming we have not embedded one of our fonts. Our distiller is set up so all fonts are embedded - so we have no clue why they would be having this problem. How can we even check to see if fonts are not embedded before sending out our files?
Has anyone come across this problem before? Or have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
    Thank you,
    Tina

Acrobat is now at version 8.1.2
If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
Go to the Acrobat update page and apply the updates for your version of Acrobat
IN NUMBER ORDER (updates are not cumulative so, using version 8 as an example, you must apply 8.1.0 before the 8.1.1 update)

  • Adobe is not Compatible with Vista? or not compatible with 64bit Vista?

From reading through some of the threads here, I am still a
bit confused. Is Captivate 4 not compatible with Windows Vista at
all? Or just not supposedly compatible with 64bit Vista?
Has anyone tried to do a software simulation recording of the
start button, or start menu, or any control panel windows? It
doesn't register a click at all! It will not record a frame!
This is rediculous Adobe. You had, what... 2 years almost? to
develop Captivate 4? And you can't even make it Vista compaitble?
I suppose you'll drop Captivate 5 in 6 months and make
everyone pay $400 for an upgrade just so they can record anything
in Vista? This had better be a high priority update. As it stands
right now, I have to do full motion recording. If I want to do
    that, I will use Camtasia!!!
Please give me an answer or a workaround.... Someone..
    Anyone.
I am using 64bit and it works fine if recording within an IE
window. All editing, recording, etc functions work fine. I have
tried to do this on a 32 bit version as well with no luck
(recording start menu / button/ control panel windows/etc)
    Thank you.

    > The problem somehow lies in the system windows. I always
    run captivate "as
    > administrator". As soon as a system window is up (IE -
    "control panel"
    > "display
    > properties" "computer properties" etc) it will fail to
    record a capture
    > upon
    > mouse click. Same with the start menu and taskbar.
    >
    > Test for yourself. This used to work in WIndows XP..
    What changed??
    >
Captivate 3 and 4 work fine on 32-bit Vista. Neither is fully
    compatible
with 64-bit Vista, so far as I know, but you should be able
    to get results
by running in 32-bit compatibility mode.

  • Why when Firefox loads does it also load Adobe Acrobat (not Reader).

Firefox 6.0.2, but this has been happening with the last couple of versions. Full-blown Adobe Acrobat 6.0.0 (not Adobe Reader) also loads as Firefox loads. Or, when Firefox shuts down, it looks like Acrobat starts to load. I do not have Acrobat listed as the application Firefox should use for PDF files, I'm using Foxit Reader instead.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Compatible with Office 2013?

I purchased Adobe Acrobat X in December 2014.  My computer died and now I have Office 2013?  I have downloaded Adobe Acrobat onto the new computer, but I cannot seem to get it to work?

I don't know the seller you mentioned, but I have some general comments
    - Current selling price for Acrobat XI Standard is about twice that (US$)
    - Adobe stopped selling Acrobat X the day they started selling XI, which was in October 2012.
    - It is entirely legal to sell old stock if you happen to still have it
    - If it is represented as the latest version, that isn't good
    - Legal old stock can sometimes be found as a genuine bargain. But it is unlikely to have support for the latest software and hardware.
    - There are a lot of people selling dodgy copies of Acrobat. Some very convincing boxed product. Some at full price. Some with serial numbers that were issued to companies for internal use. All sorts of ways to scam.
    - Serial numbers that are sold without the right, tend to get blocked by Adobe and also might not work for an upgrade
    - If you contacted Adobe they might be able to offer a view on your serial number

  • Norton IS & Adobe Flash not compatible with FF5. Why release new version without compatability?

JEEZ! Your own feedback site doesn't work.
Norton & Adobe Flash are not working with Firefox 5. Yes, I selected "Other Browsers". Before you release a new version, please be sure essentials are compatible. It's a major pain to lose access to these.

You won't get any response from Apple when you submit feedback, and in any case Apple almost never explains the rationale behind their decisions. All you can do is provide your comments to them.

  • Is Adobe Acrobat XI compatible with Framemaker 8?

Installing the trial version of Acrobat has uninstalled the Adobe pdf printer instance from my Framemaker 8 installation. I can no longer make pdf's with Framemaker! Can these two Adobe products run on the same machine? How do I get Framemaker working again - do I have to reinstall?

re: ... this problem seems firmly placed at Adobe's doorstep ...
    Yes and no.
The problem of FM trashing Acro installs, and vice-versa, without warning, is something we can definitely lay at the doorstep of the Adobe abode.
Adobe main apps tend to co-exist (if the older ones run at all on new platforms, and that's usually beyond Adob's control).
The problem of old and new drivers (Ps/PDF drivers, PDFwriters, etc.) coexisting is not trivial. If the drivers maintain their same names, stomp. If they churn the names, it breaks user expectations and possibly some scripts (like SetPrint).

  • Adobe Story not compatible with Google Chrome. Why?

Google Chrome is my preferred web browser, but, alas, I realized that Adobe Story won't open in Chrome. So I'm now having to use two different browsers (Firefox and Chrome), one for general surfing the web and another just to use Story.
Is there a specific reason Story doesn't support Chrome, or has support for it just not been added yet?
Granted, this is hardly going to cause me to stop using Story, it's a great product after all, but it would be nice to be able to only use one browser.
    Thanks.

Ignoring the warning and using it anyway works just fine. I've been doing it for a few months with no problems.
However..."The support hasn't been added yet. It's on our backlog. We hope to support it eventually."
http://useragentstring.com/pages/Chrome/ full list of user agent strings. Chrome basically pretends to be webkit and from the server side you can treat it the same way. It's also the fastest growing browser so I think you should not look for reasons to do it 'eventually', but ask yourself what prevents you from doing it now. Given that Story is an experimental product, you can guess that a lot of Story users run other new or experimental software, such as Chrome.
Getting a new visitor to stay on your page for more than 30 seconds is job #1 for web-centric apps, not job #100...do you think rejecting 7% of first-time page visitors is a good idea?
