OS is Windows 7 Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.07.
I went into the Properties file where I identified that Users only had Read & Execute and Read properties, I changed properties for Everyone to Full Control. That fixed the problem.
I don't know how the properties got changed to just Read & Execute, but there had been an automatic update the night before.

I am on a Windows 7 OS attempting to reduce pdf size with my Adobe Acrobat Standard XI & Pro. The application keeps timing out and at the Subsetting embedded fonts portion and the application gives "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working" and then closes. The document is 275 pages. Is there something I can do to stop this?

Since when are you facing this issue? Did you tried system restore to a date before this problem occured.
Does acrobat stop working when you open this specific pdf file or with any pdf file that you open?

This happens at a variety of times. Sometimes while scanning sometimes while bookmarking sometimes while adding pages from a file.
What I have done is made sure the program was up to date, a repair install, updated scanner drivers, replace the scanner with a different model, made sure the workstation was current with MS patches. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

BradThanks for the reply. Sorry I wasn't clear the version is XI standard. And I did check for updates. The program is current. Still a few times a day the program will crash and my user will have to start over again on the document she is working on. Very frustrating for her and me.

I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create>pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?
Provide you have Acrobat 9 installed in an OS for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the functionality.
As well, you need a scanner connected, powered up, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefers" TWAIN drivers.
Always visit the scanner vendor's site and download - install the latest greatest software.
n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013.
As well the Acrobat 9.x product family is not compatible with contemporary OSs.

I just upgrade to Acrobat 9 Std. I am running windows vista. When I open Acrobat and try to create a PDF I receive a message "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working" then another one "Windos will close the program and notify you for a solution", What shoul I do ???????

Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Error Message : "Adobe Acrobat Has Stopped Working"
I use Windows 7 - 64bit / CS6 Master Collection that has Adobe Acrobat x Pro.
When the computer is on for a little while, Acrobat would generate the error message that it has stopped working and then shuts down. Once that error message occurs, I cannot get Acrobat to stay open. It opens the PDF document, stays open for a few seconds then the error message occurs and it shuts down.
What helps for a short term is to restart the computer. This seems to temporarily remove the error until the computer is on for a while then the error returns.
This problem repeats. Product repair feature does not work. This has nothing to do with the license, I tried that fix and it made no differnce. I do not have this issue with other Adobe products included in the master collection.
It seems fruitless and frustrating to send a message to Adobe Support, the run around with pages and links is like smacking walls on every turn, it is obvious Adobe does not want people contacting their support. Service from Adobe for their products is poor.
I hope that someone here has the answer to the problem. Anyone?Ok, here is the update.
The link: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html , leads to a webpage that says to download a fix ZIP file named: "Acrofix.ZIP". It contains the file "acrofix.exe".
I did use this "exe" file about 2 months ago and it did nothing to fix the issue. I used it again today, because the same issue of "Adobe Acorbat has stopped working", occurred again and again it did not work, the problem of "Adobe Acrobat stopped working" presists. Again the only work around, which is temporary, is to reboot the computer.

Adobe Acrobat Standard Stops Working after Update
I have Windows 7. I purchased Adobe Design Standard including Adobe Acrobat Pro. It worked for a while, then one update, it stopped working. If I click on a PDF, nothing happens. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and then it works, then it will randomly stop working again (I believe after updates) and I keep having to uninstall and reinstall that program to get it to work, which is a real pain. Why is this happening? For such an expensive piece of software, I'm getting quite irritated with this and hope I can find a solution.
Instead of reinstalling, just do a repair. When the PDF does not open you are assuming Acrobat is at fault rather than something being messed up in your OS. First, open Acrobat from the start menu (I have no idea what OS you are using). The from the file menu open a PDF. I assume this works.
Next try to right click on the PDF and select Open With, selecting Acrobat. If it opens then, then the problem is that your file associations are getting messed up -- probably by another program or you OS system updates. -

Just installed Acrobat on my Win 8.1 machine and it continually crashes and stops working. Sometimes it will crash after 20 mins other times after 30 seconds. Just looking for some direction.

O.k. Jacob, I’ll take your word for it. But I know there have been problems saving Word files on Windows.
If you Save As before you Save it somehow messes up the file directory and produces a never-ending series of error reports.
I have got around the problem by copying the text to a new file and making sure to Save the first time.
Then Cancel on the first file, whereupon it seems to relegate itself to the memory hole.
Normally I work on a Mac though. Never had any problems like that there, except that you’re not allowed to use colons in file names.
Accented letters have been known to misread in linked files and are best avoided. Ý and ý are known culprits. -

I have not been able to get any answer from Adobe. I have a registered copy of Adobe 9 Pro. All of a sudden when I try to open a document it says "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair this problem by unistalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting Adobe customer support (I was on hold for more than an hour three times and gave up) At the bottom there is (148:3)

my email is [email protected]Before you uninstall, be sure to deactivate so that you do not run into license issues. But first, try a repair from the Control Panel. Depending on your OS it might be in the Add/Remove programs or Programs and Features. If the repair does not work, then deactivate, uninstall, and reinstall.
What might you have done that might have had an affect since you last successfully used the product (if you can remember)? Sometimes, incorrectly applying updates can create problems -- they must be done in order, particularly if downloaded. I use the downloaded updates. In fact, before you uninstall (but after the repair), you might download all of the updates and try to do those manually. Also, do the install with anti-virus disabled.
As far as Adobe goes, that is why a lot of us ended up in the forums in the first place. It turns out to be a great place to learn things, but can be time consuming if you spend as much time as I do here.
