  • Adobe Acrobat problems in Windows 7, any solution?

After a HD-crasch I reinstalled everything. But when I try to install Adobe Acrobat 11 or 9 problems accure.  When the program is almost installed suddenly all my Desk top icons, Start menu icons and Quick start icons changes into Adobe icons all of them!   When I try to use one of the orginal program icon only Adobe program opens up. I can not access any other programs.  When I delete Adobe Acrobat all my icons returns to normal.   What to do to have a normal installation of Adobe Acrobat?

See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/application-file-icons-change-acrobat.html for some possible solutions.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Suddenly Not Working....

Adobe Acrobat 8.0 has been working fine on my PC for months.  Then late in the day Tuesday, November 9th, I have a problem.  When I got to open the program, I get the message "Adobe Acrobat 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  When I try to open the program, I see the top menu and then it stalls.  A few seconds later is when I get the message.
I have gotten this message before usually after I've tried opening a bad file or something.  Usually Acrobat is OK after I try and open up another file or just the program itself.  This time that is not working.  I turned my PC completely off and then powered it back on and it still will not run (still getting the "Adobe Acrobat 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience." message).
I did notice that there was some kind of update notification coming through on Tuesday but I didn't install it.  I just closed the notice down.  It was shortly afterwards that I found I could not open Acrobat 8.  I opened up Adobe Reader and saw that there was an update for Acrobat 8 available.  I DID the update but it is still not running.
Nothing on the Internet seems to help.  I've checked the compatibility box, unchecked it to no avail.  Any answers to this?  If I need to provide additional information, I'll be happy to give it.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.  I use this program a LOT.

UPDATE:  After a LOT of runaround, a "tech" person where I work got Acrobat 8 to work without getting the "Adobe Acrobat 8.0 has encountered a problem..." message.  Alas, this was not the end of my headache.
When Adobe Acrobat was working well (just two short days ago), when I needed to scan a document I would select CREATE PDF then FROM SCANNER and the Acrobat Scan pop-up screen would appear.  I would see my network scanner which is a Ricoh model number IS330DC and that model number is what I would see next to the Scanner: box on the Adobe Scan pop-up screen.
After they re-installed Adobe 8, I could see this scanner listed but when I select it, after a couple of seconds I get a message that says:
    Twain Driver Ver.3
    9745:
Error has occurred in the scanner
After I press OK I get this message:
Adobe could not communicate to this device
So the tech guy goes to the Ricoh site, gets the drivers for the scanner, deletes the old ones that were on my C:\ drive and reinstalls these new ones.
    And it still didn't work.
THEN the tech guy logs onto my PC using his account (which I think has more "rights" like an administrator than I do).  He goes through the same process as I've written above (uninstalls Adobe 8, reinstalls it.  Does the same with the Ricoh drivers for the IS330DC model).  He then goes to do a scan and voila: it works fine.  Just as it did before.
BUT then when I log back onto my PC using my login ID, it doesn't work.  I get the same messages that I got before about the 9745: Error and such.
Now the tech thinks that it has to do with my User ID (or my account).  He wants to create another account on my PC (and move all my C:\ data to it).  This will take a long time and I hate it when tech people do this kind of thing because I invariably lose something that I really need.  And he can't guarantee that this will work.  The last thing he'll do after this is give me a new PC.  Great -- all of this because of a seemingly minor Adobe Acrobat problem?
If I got to another person's PC and login using my ID and password, I am able to use Adobe Acrobat and the scanner with no problems.
Does anyone have any idea how this might be fixed without having to resort to (what I think are) my tech guy's drastic measures?

  • "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)

We are getting the following error "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)" and a gray screen appears (Image not viewable) with multiple users. We are using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05) and (11.0.06). The current workaround is to log off the website and log back in. Once the user logs back in, the pdf will appear. However it occurs anywhere from 2-8 times in a day. Anyone else having this issue or know of another workaround? Any suggestion with how to fix? Please help!!

    Hi Valerie,
Please let me know the version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader & operating system installed on your computer?
    Also, try this:-
    Launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
From the menu, choose Edit -> preferences -> General
Uncheck the option for "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
Restart the Adobe Reader and web browser.

  • Adobe Acrobat  has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Just recently when I launch Acrobat X after about 10 seconds I get this error, "Adobe Acrobat has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  I can create PDFs and open PDFs for 10 seconds.  I've done a repair of Acrobat,  I tried a new user account, and  I disbled all my start up items.  I still get the same error  I have no clue what to do.  Any suggestions?
    J.R.

OK Will,  I pressed ctrl + Shift and double clicked on a desktop icon of a file.pdf I had saved there and it opened and is still open.  By not pressing ctrl + Shift the file opens then closes with that error in about10 seconds.
So now, what has that proved to us is the issue?  Doesn't that load Acrobat without all the extensions?
This issue just started a few days ago and all I remember installing on my computer were some Window's updates.

  • Error: adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close

When I right-click to Convert to PDF or Convert to PDF and EMail for .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .pptx, .ppt, .pub, and .igx items (what I've tried so far), I get the following error: "Adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It works fine on .bmp .tif, .txt, .htm, and .jpg (what I've tried so far).  I am not having problems printing to Adobe to convert, nor am I having problems creating a PDF within a program, and I'm not having problems converting from IE.  I am using Windows XP Professional, Microsoft 2007, and IE 7.  My Adobe product is Adobe Acrobat X Pro Version 10.1.2.  What can I do to resolve this problem?  Thanks.

No, I don't have an older version.  I did a search on my C drive for anything that has a name of Acrobat Elements and came up with the following: (I'm hoping you can see this)

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close

    Hi!
I'd like to start using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 with Acrobat.com, but I don't get very far before I get the error message "
Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close." This happens after I click "distribute form" and fill out the email addresses. It get to the point of starting to publish the response files and then the error message pops up and I can't go any further. I've made sure to uninstall older versions of Acrobat and I restarted my computer. I have a PC and am running Windows XP and IE 7. Help!

    Bill:
Thanks for all the tips. Actually I already did most of this (multiple times) to no avail.
    ·         I’m running Win XP Pro SP3 on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop with 2GB memory.
    ·         I Bought Acrobat 7 Standard (it came bundled with my scanner) so I do have that CD and the key
    ·         I purchased the upgrade to Acrobat 9 Standard on-line for $99.
    ·         Actually, everything was working fine until I uninstalled ATM. (I did that because my laptop wouldn’t undock or hibernate and I read that ATM could be the cause.)
    ·         I’ve done several repairs from Control Panel. Didn’t help.
    ·         Finally, this morning I decided to uninstall everything and install a trial version of Adobe 9 PRO from their web site. That didn’t work either.
    ·         I notice that none of these actions has brought ATM back. On the other hand, I can’t find a place from where I can download ATM either.
Here’s the really funny thing. Acrobat is not completely broken. I can actually get it to work for the first few seconds. And if I type real fast, I can even save the pdf file that it opens before it crashes! For example, if I click on a pdf file on a web page and it is small enough that it opens right away, I can click the save button and hit OK immediately (don’t mind where it saves the file, I can find and move it later) before I get the “Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.” message. The same happens if I just open Acrobat and let it sit. It doesn’t crash immediately. It takes about 5 seconds before it does.
This should give a clue as to where/why it is crashing.
Tomorrow I’m going to try and get Adobe on a chat line and have them take a look.
Let me know if you get any other good ideas. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
    Thanks,
    Jamshed Mulla

  • Problems with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

Last week I installed via Adobe Creative Cloud the new "Adobe Acrobat XI Pro" on my computer. After the installing I couldn´t open it, so I deinstalled it. I thought it is a problem of my computer. I tried to reinstall the software with the Adobe Application Manager, but it says that I allready installed it.. What can I do now?

I still have an Application Abode Installer manager. Inside this manager I just see, download and install all the adobe programs. After downloading and installing, there is an single folder for each program. Inside this folder is an uninstaller just for that single program. Finally I have 7 folders with 7 uninstallers for 7 programs. Everything works, exept the Acrobat XI Pro. I see all the program folders on my disc, exept the Acrobat XI Pro one (and there was the Uninstaller inside). It don´t exist an Application Folder for all the programs, just the Manager.

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

I am having a issue installing Adobe Acrobat XI.  I am running Windows 8.1. When  go to install it gets an error.  The error is with transform in registry and will not install product. I am looking at how I can fix this registry problem.
I have tried to uninstall all Abode Acrobat installations but one file remains and refuses to be uninstalled. It gives me this error : Error applying Transforms . Verify that specified paths are valid. It was installed on Sept 18 2014.  I have downloaded a Transform update but it tells I do not have a Adobe Acrobat product installed.

    Hi all,
Sylonious, did you manage to sort this problem out? I have been experiencing similar problems. I think my problem was because I had many different versions of JDKs. I have done a complete re-install. I would be really grateful to you (and anyone else) for help with this problem.
I have re-installed JSDK1.4.2_03, set the "path" variable to "C:\JSDK1.4.2_03".
When I compile using "javac" I get an error saying "javac" is not recognised.
When I compile using "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javac Freq.java" no error is thrown.
Every time I try to run a java file, I always get the NoClassDefFound error. When run with the -verbose option, files are loaded from C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin - is this correct?
I have removed all previous references to java in the registry editor.
    Please help !
    Regards,
    Vipul

I have tried to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional XI this morning and payment (AED 1983.53) has been taken, I received a message stating there was/is a problem processing my order and that I should contact your customer service team in UAE.  Having tried this, I was met with a recorded message, in Arabic, and no options to speak to anyone.  I have found this process extremely frustrating and poor on your behalf.  Not providing any options to speak to an Adobe representative is equally annoying.  Please get back to me ASAP, as I need to use the product immediately.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back.  So probably won't run on modern operating systems.  If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.
