Adobe Acrobat Professional version 9

We are running Acrobat professional version 9, would like to install the update 9.3, do I need to install the prior updated first and can I just install 9.3? Please advise.

Depending on the version that you currently have, you must step up versions. 9.0 to 9.1 to 9.2 then finally to 9.3. In order for us to get to 9.3, we had to install 9.2 first (we were on version 9.1.3). If anyone has a better method that would save time, but I do not know of any easier methods at this time. Perhaps someone could bundle all the updates into 1 MSI installer.

Can not edit text in a PDF with Adobe acrobat professional version 8

I have a PDF doccument that I can not edit any of the text on. all it lets me do is slide the pages around like images but dose not allow me to delete or add any text. It is not password protected at all.
Any ideas on why this is and how to fix it so I can edit this 40 page pdf?

Document > OCR Text Recognition > Recognize Text Using OCR
In the Recognize Text dialog, click the "Edit" button.
In the Recognize Text - Settings dialog the middle entry has a drop-down menu.
From this menu you can select one of three PDF Output Styles.

There might have once been a deployment solution for this, but I imagine Adobe will have withdrawn it. Why on earth are you deploying a product so far past end of life, with unfixed security issues?

If I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.2 why can't I open the form to make changes to the field name in version 9.X. The ability to change names for the fields is greyed out.
Please help!!!

Using the latter actually uses LiveCycle Designer (it's integrated in to Acrobat). If that's the case, the form fields are no longer editable in Acrobat itself. You need to continue to use LiveCycle Designer.
Sory if this seems like a silly question but the reason I ask is because many people having this issue have used Designer unknowingly and thought they were using Acrobat (since one is accessed through the other).

I really hope someone can help me with this problem. I work for a software company and we have a release coming up. Every release requires me to create a 'menu' which is what users see when they insert the release CD. I create this menu in Adobe Acrobat Professional, and add links to all the PDF manuals we have for our products. When I open the Menu in Acrobat Professional, all links open fine. When just attempting to open the links using the default Adobe Reader (which i'm guessing most of our customers will use), nothing happens, not even an error is generated. I'm ensuring I link to the documents that reside in the same folder on my directory as the menu. Is this something to do with relative/absolute links? Something to do with Reader XI, as I don't remember having this problem for our last release? Foxit also seems to work in opening the links.

I’m using version 11.0.10. So where the Menu resides in a folder ready to be burnt on to a CD, that same folder is where the links point to.

In Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2, how do I keep the Comment & Markup Toolbar from repopulating itself with the functions I've unchecked in the "More Tools" add/remove window? I've selected Lock Toolbars, however upon next reboot, they're back again. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know the answer but i am facing the same problem.
As far as i know this error does not appear in Acrobat 9 but unfortunately i have only Version 8.

You should be able to download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

Does Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 works fine on Windows 2008 64-bit R2 server?

Currently, we use Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1 on Windows 2003 server. We mainly use the Distiller to convert PDF files.
If we migrate the 2003 server to Windows 2008 64-bit R2 server, does version 8.1 works fine?
If not, which version support Windows 2008 64-bit R2 server?

As long as you are looking to use it for local use only, and not as part of the server, I suspect it does work. AA X is the first that was certified for operation on Server 2008, but still only for local use. Any server use is a violation of the license. If you have Server 2008, why not just try it -- but be sure to abide with the license. Be sure to install the updates with the 64-bit system.

The Adobe Helpline was just a line, but no HELPline, as they mentioned in a astonishing arrogant way that the product is seven years old and they don't support ist. From my point of view, being a professional writer, I just can't afford to pay another 650 Euros for a Adobe Acrobat Professional 11.0.

Selbst so ein Schlaumeier. Schau lieber was Du schreibst. Bislang hast Du nur von Acrobat 7 geschrieben, nichts von Acrobat X.
Wenn Du diesen hast, weshalb installierst Du nicht diesen. Dieser läuft auf Deinem Betriebssystem. Um diesen zu installieren braucht es auch keine Installation der Version 7, lediglich die Seriennummer der Vorversionen werden abgefragt werden, manchmal muss auch die CD zur Echtheitsüberprüfung eingeschoben werden.
Du bist ganz schön belämmert und arrogant. Du schimpfst durch die Gegend, weil Dir nicht geholfen wird, wie Du es Dir vorstellst, aber rückst notwendige Informationen nicht mal raus, wenn man danach fragt, bzw. machst Angaben, die zumindest diesem letzten Post widersprechen. Also nochmals: Hirn einschalten, Stroh wegräumen und an der eigenen Nase anfassen und aufpassen, dass die Finger nicht rotzig werden. Man will ja in Zukunft noch notwendige Informationen wenigstens aus Deiner Nase rausziehen.
