ADOBE ACROBAT READR 9.3 / 10 : OVERWRITES FILE ASSOCIATION ".EXE"

Good afternooon,
Please note that I have some Problems when i install Reader:
As soon i have installed this program, I CANNOT OPEN ANY EXCECUTABLE (.exe) FILE ANYMORE SO I CAN'T LAUNCH ANY PROGRAMS!!!
It seams that Reader becomes the default program to run/launch all executable files!!!
I'm not able (NOT EVEN WITH FILE ASSOCIATIONS IN CONTROL PANEL of WIN VISTA) to change this file association back to WINDOWS EXPLORER...
I would appreciate it if anyone can help meout...

Adobe Acrobat Pro failed to print pdf file

I downloaded adobe acrobat pro and started the 30 trial version just a few minutes ago.
I could open files through adobe acrobat and convert word files to pdf, but when i tried converting a publisher file it could not go through. An error popped up which read "Adobe PDF printer failed to print pdf file".
The publisher file I am hoping to convert to pdf is a 21 page panorama article. It contains lots of images and a variety of font types.
I do not know other alternatives for solving this issue.
Your help will be very much appreciated.

It seems to be that Adobe Acrobat virtual printer is not properly installed on your PC or you are not selecting Adobe PDF printer to print PDF document. Checkout the below screen shot to see proper printer.
After trying this if you have same problem you may trt some other virtual printer that easily convert or print any file as PDF, you may checkout here.

Using Firefox 19.02
When I receive an email with an Excel, Word, or PDF file attachment, and I click download, firefox opens up the associated program for all my users, however when you click on file>save-as you are not presented with the dialog box to perform a save.
Excel and Word, no fix at all. Other than different browser or to click download, right click and go to folder, and then copy it out of there to another folder and open it.
Help, what is going on here????

Hello, Can you help me?
I purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro four years ago when I went onto Windows 7 as I needed the 64 bit version. Prior to this I had Adobe Acrobat 7.
Recently I have been unable to make PDF files in Word although it is working in all the other Word applications and through the HP scanner.
It also won’t make PDF files through the Adobe programme and comes up with the message “Missing PDF files”and the repair command fails to save the problem.
I am using Word 2003 but prior to now the programme has worked without a problem.
Can you tell me how to solve the problem as I need the facility as I manage numerous websites for different charities.
My serial number is 1118-1780-5717-0649-5947-1289 and I am reluctant to unload the programme incase I can’t reload it.
I have tried to load Acrobat 7 onto my laptop which still has Windows Vista on it. The serial number for this is 1016-1284-2194-6099-0208-1387 but it refuses to activate this. Can you advise me on this ?

Pro's Safari Plugin is not updated for Mountain Lion yet.
Remove the plugin and use Preview for now in Safari.

Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5 Merging Word Files

When I try to merge or (combine supported files in Acrobat..) I get an error, Create Adobe PDF - Missing PDFMaker FIles. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode.
Attempted the following to fix the issue without luck...
I have tried to run the Adobe Acrobat repair
I have tried to uninstall and re-install Adobe Acrobat 9. Manually updated to 9.5.5
I have enabled the PDFMaker addin in MS Word
I have tried to manually register the PDFMakerOfficeaddin.dll
I have tried to run the file merge with all options unchecked
I have tried running adobe as an administrator
Any assistance would be great. The machine is Windows 7, MS Office 2007. Acrobat v9.5.5

Why do I have to remove Adobe Acrobat in order to link pdf files using Preview?

Whenever I try to link pdfs to make a single file, Adobe Acrobat opens automatically and prevents me from linking them, instead demanding that I pay money for a subscription. Instead, I have to remove Adobe, at which point I can open Preview, and then I can link the files.
Is there any way to link documents without having to remove and then reinstall Adobe?
I have an iMac 10.6.8 and the latest Adobe that will install.

The iPhone has it's own built in PDF reader, and doesn't need Adobe Reader. So if your simulator software isn't working then I suggest you contact Blackbaud's support. Besides, Adobe doesn't make an iPhone version of Reader.

Filevault overwrites file associations on boot

how do I stop it from doing that, and/or what files do I need to edit/replace (ie. via an rc file or script) in order to reset the application/file associations back to the way I prefer?
I have dozens of associations, so using a gui method after every boot is completely infeasible, nor is turning off filevault.

I think I may have solved the problem, in large part thanks to you pointing out which file to look at. What I did was convert the plist file from data to xml format via the following command.
cd ~/Library/Preferences/
plutil -convert xml1 com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
I set all my preferences the way I like, backed up the xml file, then rebooted. Voila! A diff between the files, reveals no changes whatsoever, and my apps appear to be working as desired. So far so good, and barring some total fubaredness, we may have a winner...

I have Adobe acrobat 9 pro why do some files open automatically and other do not.

when I save a file as a pdf. and go to the folder the file only opens if I select it. When I download a file as a pdf it opens automatically in the same folder. How do I get all files to open automatically.

The options on the save are typically either in the printer properties (if printing to the Adobe PDF printer) or in the Acrobat preferences if using PDF Maker in such programs as WORD. The button is included to allow opening on creation. If it is opening on download, that is typically based on how your browser is set up to call software for the file types being downloaded.

Adobe Acrobat Reader Plug - Writing to text file

Hi,
I have an Acrobat plug-in which performs various functions including writing to a text file on c:\
If I use my plug-in with Acrobat all is well.
If I use the same plug-in with Reader everything seems to work ok except that it won't create the text file. It's as if Adobe reader is protecting this somehow.
Has anyone seen this before? Any one know how to get around it?

More about protected mode. It is designed specifically to protect the user against attacks originating INSIDE Adobe Reader (e.g. via exploits). Sandboxing is a leading edge protection technology, which (for example) is also being applied to browsers. Your plug-in is therefore part of the problem to be protected against. The COM reference AcroIEHelper.dll is added in my project.

acroIEHlpr is an Object element. From this how can I retrieve the information of PDF opened in IE.
How can I get the text of that PDF file?

Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
