  • Adobe Acrobat Update Service

    Hello,
we have a problem with the service "Adobe Acrobat Update" (AdobeARMservice). We observe that sometimes to open a PDF Document needs more time while the service is running, as the same Document needs while the servcie is disabled. for example 30 seconds while service is running to 2 seconds while its disabled.
Did you noticed the same issue, or have a solution?
Notic: It is not the Virusscan-issue (McAfee) this is fixed.
    Best regards.

It is highly unlikely that this Service can cause the delay.
Here is what we can do to rule it out-
    1. Please enable full verbose MSI logging on this system (Google for the instructions)
    2. Enable Adobe Reader Updater verbose logging -
In the registry below set iLogLevel   DWORD value to 1.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM (if you have 32bit OS)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM (if you have 64bit OS)
    3. Delete AdobeARM.log file from User %Temp% folder
    4. Open your PDF document, wait for ~40 seconds
If you confirm the delay in loading PDF, collect AdobeARM.log file and latest file called MSIxxxx.log (if exists) from User Temp folder, Zip them and e-mail to me - please do not post content here - they could be big.

Try to download the updates manually from the Adobe website. I believe you need something like Acrobat 9.2.x for full Windows 7 compatibility.

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater pop up window

Each time I access a pdf file using Acrobat 9 Pro I receive th following message.
"Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website."
I must select the option to close the pop up to continue working. This issue started only recently. How do I make this stop??

Jeri, your link was helpful! Let me take a step back in saying that I have both Adobe Acrobat Pro and Reader installed on my computer.
Your link led me to the Acrobat_Reader_Updater.pdf. There was a reference to the registry and iCheckReader. I started snooping in the registry and that's when I discovered that I had different versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro (v9.5) and Reader (X) installed. Although running this combination should not IMHO be a problem I decided to remove Reader (X). I haven't had the pop up message since it was removed.
I note that you are an employee of Adobe. This might be worth posting somewhere or investigating further why the pop up appears with this product combination. Not every Adobe customer is going to upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro (X).

  • Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed

When I try to update my copy of Adobe Reader, I get
Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
This occurs even when I run the install program with "Run as Administrator".
And it occurs for release 11 and the older release 10.
How do I get around this problem?

  • What is the Adobe Acrobat Updater PDF Repair Setup Computer Freeze Solution?

I'm using CS4 Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.
The Adobe Acrobat Updater keeps urging me to upgrade to Acrobat 9.3.3.  When I attempt to do so, I get a Repair Setup screen saying, "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair.  Select the optional components you would like to repair and click Continue.  Deselect a component to completely remove it.  Click Cancel to cancel the component repair process."  The Adobe PDF Printer is shown with a checkbox next to it.
At this point, the check box next to the Adobe PDF Printer, the Cancel button, and the Continue button are all not operable.  The whole update process becomes frozen.  Even a Force Quit will not remove the updater from the screen.  The only way to get rid of it is with a restart.
This keeps happening over and over again and is becoming annoying.
How can this problem be resolved?
    Please advise.
    Thanks!
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Mac OS 10.5.8

Look to see if something similar to:
Adobe PDF or Adobe quality PDF when you go to the print menu and click on PDF.
http://screencast.com/t/MWI0M2Q1M here is expample of what you see in OSX.4.11
5 and 6 should have a choice of adobe pdf or adobe quality PDF.
IF it does delete the AdobePDF Print driver from Printer Utility and use this.
    read this:
http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php although it has to do with Snow leopard it does alos mention X.5.8. as well.
Try repairing acrobat installation  then running the installer if it gets stuck 've run out of suggestions other than remove Acrobat all together evrything you can find anywhere on the computer (except your PDF and start from scratch. upgrading from 9.0 through each of upgradeds.

  • Can you help complete the Adobe Acrobat update installation?

The Adobe Acrobat Update Installation has been going on for hours. Can you please complete the installation?

My image is a screenshot saved to my desktop.
When the install fails, this is the message I get:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation.
Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again.
    Error: 1301"
When this happened once before your tech had me work with the root user on my computer.
Today I went to the Error 1301 site and followed the directions: (System Preferences, Account Login, Login Options, and Join for Network Account Server; when the Directory Utility opened, I unlocked the Directory Utility  window, chose Enable Root User from the Edit menu, but couldn't accomplish the next step in the directions: "Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields".

    Try the following:
uninstall any current Reader version using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
download and run the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Make sure you run both uninstaller & installer when logged in as an Administrator user.

  • I keep getting Adobe Acrobat Updater message. I am using 9.5.2. Keep getting this message(see below)

"Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe Web site."
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Alan

As Bill suggest, update Acrobat manually. Here are the settings to disable Auto Update.
    Lauch Acrobat.
Click on "Edit" -> "Preferences" -> Updates (on the right side of the panel).
Select the radio button "Do not download or install updates automatically".
    Click on "OK".

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded...

This message pops up every 3 days and I don't know why. How do I get rid of it?
"Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? Safari downloaded this file on October 19, 2009."

There is a description of the solution on the Adobe website here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402251.html#main_Turn_off_automatic_updates_on_Ma c_OS
In summary, open the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file and change

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater frozen

    Hi,
I've had a look through the forum and can't seem to find anything on this problem. Adobe Acrobat Updater was updating acrobat up to 9.3.2, it was in the installation phase then about half way through it's stopped dead. The window is still there, the blue loading bar is stil pulsating and I can move it about so it hasn't totally crashed, but I can't click on the cancel button. Can't force quit out of it either.
Also there's another window 'Repair Setup' telling me "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair. Select the optional components you would like to repair..."etc Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin is automatically checked. This window is totally frozen, can't even move it.
On top of this Updater is cancelling out any Shutdown attempts.
My OS is 10.6.3 and I'm on an iMac.
Any help is sorely needed, I have no idea how to get round this.
    Many Thanks
Edit: Another bit of info, I had acrobat open a few times during, due to work demands, I don't know if this would have effected the installation process at all.

    We're aware of this bug.
it's casued if the pdfviewer plugin for safari is missing, the repair dialog wants to know if it should put it back or not.
In order to update to 9.3.2, before checking for updates, go to Acrobat preferences>Internet> display pdf in browser using: and select the version of Acrobat/reader ou want to update.
For good measure also run the self repair form the help menu, in Acrobat go to help> repair acrobat.
when that's done, go to help>check for update to update.

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater

When I open a PDF I get this message:  "Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently.  Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website".  Is there a solution?

I never use the updater, but it may depend on the version you have also. It is easy enough to use the Help>Update or to go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (or similar for a MAC) to do the updates.

  • Adobe Acrobat Update Manager Stalls Apple

Every time I start up the PowerBook, the Adobe Acrobat Update Manager (for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional) stalls the start-up. An error window shows, on the Apple, indicating this. It requires, each and every time, a manual close-out of the Adobe updater. I have tried to remove updater, and yet it continues. This is NOT for the Reader but for the full-blown Adobe Acrobat program. Thank you.

Hi Jay, open Acrobat>Preferences and check for automatic updates to uncheck.
Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check System Preferences, the Other row for possibilities.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Error:1602 , Adobe Acrobat Updater - Update Failed

My operating system is Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
After installing Creative Suites 4 and downloading updates, I received an Acrobat Updater notification that Updates were available.
I clicked on the Adobe Acrobat Updater icon and ultimately got the following Error.
Adobe Acrobat Updater, Update Failed, Error:1602
This was solved by going to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Acrobat\9.2\ARM
I deleted the contents of the ARM folder and then ran "Check for Updates" from Adobe Acrobat. This re-populated the ARM folder with the correct folder and files. Updater ran and I followed the instructions to restart my computer and now it works well.

Ronald Segerstrom for questions regarding an Acrobat specific update please repost your inquiry to the Acrobat Windows forum.

  • Error Message reads: "Adobe Acrobat Updater Certificate failed to install."

I am unable to make any updates to my Adobe programs (including creative suite CS3). Everytime I try, I type in my password, but I always get the same error message: Adobe Acrobat Updater Certificate failed to install.
I believe this is happening because I actually inherited my Adobe programs, including the MacBook Pro the programs are installed on. The owner used to be a relative who, sadly, passed away. I thought I had changed everything to be under my name as the owner, but having never done it before it's possible I missed something? Perhaps my relative's name is still recognized as the owner?
Please help as this is wreaking havoc in many "little" ways...
    Thanks.

Had the same problem. Found two updaters on the computer. Go to "applications/utilities/adobe utilities". Threw away the folder "Adobe Updater5". Ran the "Adobe Updater6/Adobe Updater.app". Problem gone.
