Adobe Acrobat Updater pop up window

Each time I access a pdf file using Acrobat 9 Pro I receive th following message.
"Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website."
I must select the option to close the pop up to continue working. This issue started only recently. How do I make this stop??

Jeri, your link was helpful! Let me take a step back in saying that I have both Adobe Acrobat Pro and Reader installed on my computer.
Your link led me to the Acrobat_Reader_Updater.pdf. There was a reference to the registry and iCheckReader. I started snooping in the registry and that's when I discovered that I had different versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro (v9.5) and Reader (X) installed. Although running this combination should not IMHO be a problem I decided to remove Reader (X). I haven't had the pop up message since it was removed.
I note that you are an employee of Adobe. This might be worth posting somewhere or investigating further why the pop up appears with this product combination. Not every Adobe customer is going to upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro (X).

  • How can I install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on Windows 8.1?

I originally installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on Windows XP. I've upgraded the OS to Windows 8.1 and have a compatibility error message when trying to re-install Adobe Acrobat 6.0. Any suggestions? Thank you. Roman.

Confirming the response you received. For the record, any version of Acrobat earlier than the 8.1 update of 8.0 simply won't properly install and/or run of versions of Windows beyond Windows XP and certainly not on any 64-bit versions of Windows.

It has worked fine on my 32-bit Win7 for several years. The 64-bit version may require updates to work properly.

  • Can you help complete the Adobe Acrobat update installation?

The Adobe Acrobat Update Installation has been going on for hours. Can you please complete the installation?

My image is a screenshot saved to my desktop.
When the install fails, this is the message I get:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation.
Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again.
    Error: 1301"
When this happened once before your tech had me work with the root user on my computer.
Today I went to the Error 1301 site and followed the directions: (System Preferences, Account Login, Login Options, and Join for Network Account Server; when the Directory Utility opened, I unlocked the Directory Utility  window, chose Enable Root User from the Edit menu, but couldn't accomplish the next step in the directions: "Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields".

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded...

This message pops up every 3 days and I don't know why. How do I get rid of it?
"Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? Safari downloaded this file on October 19, 2009."

There is a description of the solution on the Adobe website here:

In summary, open the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file and change

Try to download the updates manually from the Adobe website. I believe you need something like Acrobat 9.2.x for full Windows 7 compatibility.

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater frozen

    Hi,
I've had a look through the forum and can't seem to find anything on this problem. Adobe Acrobat Updater was updating acrobat up to 9.3.2, it was in the installation phase then about half way through it's stopped dead. The window is still there, the blue loading bar is stil pulsating and I can move it about so it hasn't totally crashed, but I can't click on the cancel button. Can't force quit out of it either.
Also there's another window 'Repair Setup' telling me "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair. Select the optional components you would like to repair..."etc Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin is automatically checked. This window is totally frozen, can't even move it.
On top of this Updater is cancelling out any Shutdown attempts.
My OS is 10.6.3 and I'm on an iMac.
Any help is sorely needed, I have no idea how to get round this.
    Many Thanks
Edit: Another bit of info, I had acrobat open a few times during, due to work demands, I don't know if this would have effected the installation process at all.

    We're aware of this bug.
it's casued if the pdfviewer plugin for safari is missing, the repair dialog wants to know if it should put it back or not.
In order to update to 9.3.2, before checking for updates, go to Acrobat preferences>Internet> display pdf in browser using: and select the version of Acrobat/reader ou want to update.
For good measure also run the self repair form the help menu, in Acrobat go to help> repair acrobat.
when that's done, go to help>check for update to update.

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater

When I open a PDF I get this message:  "Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently.  Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website".  Is there a solution?

I never use the updater, but it may depend on the version you have also. It is easy enough to use the Help>Update or to go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (or similar for a MAC) to do the updates.

  • Adobe Acrobat Update Manager Stalls Apple

Every time I start up the PowerBook, the Adobe Acrobat Update Manager (for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional) stalls the start-up. An error window shows, on the Apple, indicating this. It requires, each and every time, a manual close-out of the Adobe updater. I have tried to remove updater, and yet it continues. This is NOT for the Reader but for the full-blown Adobe Acrobat program. Thank you.

Hi Jay, open Acrobat>Preferences and check for automatic updates to uncheck.
Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check System Preferences, the Other row for possibilities.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Error:1602 , Adobe Acrobat Updater - Update Failed

My operating system is Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
After installing Creative Suites 4 and downloading updates, I received an Acrobat Updater notification that Updates were available.
I clicked on the Adobe Acrobat Updater icon and ultimately got the following Error.
Adobe Acrobat Updater, Update Failed, Error:1602
This was solved by going to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Acrobat\9.2\ARM
I deleted the contents of the ARM folder and then ran "Check for Updates" from Adobe Acrobat. This re-populated the ARM folder with the correct folder and files. Updater ran and I followed the instructions to restart my computer and now it works well.

  • Adobe Acrobat updates - opt ins or opt outs for Google Chrome?

Hi - anybody else fed up that when accepting one of the many Adobe Acrobat updates that the flag is set for also installing Google products? These should be set as opt ins, not as opt outs, and I find this intrusive. It's time wasting having to uninstall these products, and also fill in a lengthy questionnaire why you are uninstalling the product you never wanted to install in the first place!
    Rant over....

I have never seen any Acrobat updates coming with bundled software; where do you get them from?
Here is the last Acrobat update (Windows): http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5721
Same, b.t.w., for Adobe Reader (Windows): http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5715

    Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on Windows 8.1?

How can I install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on Windows 8.1?

It is unknown if you can install it in Win8, particularly the 64-bit system. It would generally be recommended that you buy the new version AA XI. If you have Win8, have you tried the install? Did you succeed, though some parts will likely fail in any case? Can you open Acrobat and Distiller? If the latter two are yes, then you will find that you will be missing the Adobe PDF printer and AcroTray will not function. You only alternative is to install a color PS printer, such as one from HP, change the name to Adobe PDF, and change the port to FILE. Assuming the rest works, you can then create PDFs by printing to the Adobe PDF printer and creating the resultant PS printer (may be a PRN extension). Open that file in Distiller and you should have a PDF. That would be the process, but have no idea if it works on Win8 or 8.1. Let us know the results if you try.
I have followed this process for both AA5 and AA7 on Win7 (32 and 64 bit system respectively). I don't use them there, but the process did work in both cases.

I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro due to Windows 8 malfunction with starting up. I am trying to reinstall as I am an owner of the Creative Suite CS6 and I cannot access my serial number. I purchased the software in 2013 and never registered i, apparently. When directed on Adobe's site to access the serial number, it takes me to an outside 3rd party site, which I tried but it does not actually work. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey beccac85068042,
