Adobe Acrobat V9 Professional crashes or causes PDFs to be corrupted when using Dragon software

Adobe Acrobat V9 Professional crashes or causes PDFs to be corrupted when using Dragon software. I use Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 to assist me when I add comments to a PDF. I also use it when making additions or changes to text.  When I use the two software programs together, Acrobat constantly crashes.  If it doesn't crash, an error occurs trying to save the file.  I entered 988 comments into a 158-pg PDF, only to find the file was corrupted and couldn't be printed. I also could not see the list of comments (click Show Comments).
These problems do not occur if I don't use both products simultaneously.

Never overwrite a clip that is used in Pr.  Give the
modified/corrected/updated clip a new name and import that into your Pr
project.  Then Alt+Drag the new clip on top of the old clip in the
timeline to replace the clip instance.
If import-then-drag isn't your style, then right-clicking the original
clip in the Project panel and selecting Replace Footage will accomplish
the same thing.
This important rule applies in Encore as well.

  • Adobe acrobat 8 professional crashes in mountain lion

I just bought a new IMAC with mountain lion. I realize some of the older programs no longer work with it but I reinstalled adobe acrobat 8 professional and it does not seem compatable. I tried downloading an update and a patch but it constantly freezes, trying to use the text edit doesn't work and crashes the program or locks it up. I need to be able to edit PDFS and the program no longer works. Any suggestions?

You could try using spotlight to search for PDF files... short of that, you may have to ask Adobe.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional - Crash Problem

The error appears when I open Acrobat, but also if I open any folder containing a PDF. The error reads "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 Professional cannot continue. Please re-install the application and try again." If Okay is clicked Acrobat shuts down. Have tried repair and uninstall / reinstall. Noted on some forumn web pages that I need to remove the Adobe foldes before reinstall, bu tI could not find them.  Any suggestions?

The Adobe folder should be under Program Files on your system. On my Win7 system they are in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0.

I used "Migration Assistant" to send everything from my old mac to my new which included my copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. I tried downloading an update but when it asked me to find the version of acrobat to replace it was grayed out and I was unable to select it. My OS is 10.9.4

  • Keeping Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro as the Default .PDF viewer

    Ok,
So with all the new vulnerabilities with Adobe reader, our company is try to stay with the current updates of Adobe Reader.  The problem I am running into with patching all the workstations is that we have a large user community that uses Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro as their default .pdf viewer etc. When patching all workstations with the latest Adobe Reader it changes the default to Reader.
Has anyone had this issues? Or is there away to keep Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro the default when upgrading the Reader?
I'm thinking of removing Reader all together on the workstations that have Pro.
    Thanks

That is the Adobe recommended and supported setup.
Too many problems arise when you have those two Adobe products on the same machine.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional Random Crash (Access Violation)

hi all. first time poster. long time reader.
i have encountered an odd access violation problem - 'ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - The instruction at "blah" referenced memory at "blah". The memory could not be "blah" - in 'acrobat.dll' recently with a customer who is experiencing seemingly random crashes with adobe acrobat 8 professional.
they are running the application off a citrix presnetation server 4.5 server (windows server 2003 R2 with service pack 2). each server is hosting about 8 or more users per server per day. every now and then, ie once a day, adobe acrobat crashes during use. there doesn't appear to be anything consistent in so far as the action the user is performing. they will be mid-way through marking up a document and it will just crash for one of them. all the others will continue working fine.
i have access to numerous crash dumps and nothing seems to really stand out...other than 'Acrobat_3000000!AVAcroALM_Destroy'. For example...

is 'AVAcroALM' to do with licensing?
other than advising them to bring citrix presentation server 4.5 up to date (HRP2) i'm at a loss what to advise. citrix often have issues with seamless published applications when spread across multiple monitors (as in this case), hence, my reason to ask them to bring their software up to date. often the funtion called will be different - often times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocCreateWordFinderEx', other times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocAcquirePage' and there are others.
i can post more of the mini-dump if required. any - and ALL - assitance appreciated.
    thanks.

  • Flash content is making my Adobe Acrobat X to crash (how to disable flash in the PDF documents?)

    Hello
I have Adobe Acrobat X, and I have a PDF document of around 700 pages. Inside, I have several pages I've downloaded from different websites, some of these pages have flash animations (I mean adverts with flash), when I click in a certain page of my PDF document that has a flash animation inside, booom it crash automatically.
How may I disable flash in my PDF documents?
    Thanks

Realistically you can't. Flash is enabled in the Acrobat X Family via embedded code, as it not only runs content within a PDF but also runs several elements of the user interface, such as the Share Pane.
If you know of a particular PDF file that is causing crashes, please submit it via a bug report.

  • How do you make a link in a .pdf file? (Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional)

    Dear Adobe Acrobat Forum,
I would like to add a link to my .pdf file.
Once clicked on, I would like the link to send the user to another place in the same .pdf file
or open a separate .pdf file.
I've tried to resolve this on my own by going to both Acrobat help section and the InDesign help section as well as Googling "Acrobat 8 link" or something similar.......but to no avail.
So, can you please tell me how I can add a link to a .pdf file?
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.
I have been creating .pdf files using the File > Export feature in Adobe InDesign CS3 (for the Mac).
    Thanks!

Have you tried in Acrobat 8 to:
    Choose Link tool.
Then choose as shown on as on this Graphic
Then when clicking next you should be greeted with this:
Choose open a file or open a weblink depending upon what you want to do.
You try some of the other choices. once you select what to do save as a copy and try. If This one doesn't work try some of the other choices in the first graphic. other panes will open up similar to second graphic except there will be other choices.

  • Thin Black Border on Video in Interactive PDF (Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional)

    Hi
I am having issues with embedded video in an interactive pdf (currently using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional).
I have placed my media mp4 file in the pdf. I would like the video to have no border, so I proceeded to Multimedia Properties to edit the Appearance and set the Border Type to Invisible Rectangle. I also editted the Playback settings for the Rendition to keep the player open "Forever once activated." But every time I view pages in my interactive pdf with video there is still a thin black border surrounding the videos on initial play. If I have already viewed the video and come back to the page, the border dissapears.
Is there a way to ensure the thin black border/outline never appears in the pdf, even when first opening and viewing the file? Does this have to do with the Acrobat 8 in particular? Please let me know if you are also encountering this problem or have a solution.

Thank you so much for your help.
I am now working in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have embedded the same video. The borders have disappeared.
I have set the video activation settings to enable when "The page containing the content is opened". When the page is opened, I am now seeing a grey box (the size of the video) flash before the video is played. Do you know of a way to not have the grey box appear before the video plays? Or is there even a way to edit the color of this box so it is a less noticeable transition in my documet? I assume this is some sort of default setting to be displayed when the video loads. Any suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • I am unable to convert certain files to pdf with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

I am unable to convert Word & PowerPoint files to pdf.  (I am able to convert image files & excel)
I have enable macros in Word and still cannot convert the file.
I am getting the error popup:
    Unable to open the document
Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file
    I am running:
Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 SP 3
    Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    Microsoft Office 2007

Open the document in WORD or PPT and print to the Adobe PDF printer. With PPT, you will have to select the fill page option. You may also be able to use PDF Maker in WORD or PPT. From your post I am assuming you are trying to open directly in Acrobat and all of these other things have to be working properly before the latter will work. If they work and you still can not open directly in Acrobat, then try a repair on Acrobat.

  • Does Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional support image which has been converted to a PDF to be edited?

    Hi,
Does Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional support the content of an image which has been converted to a PDF file to be edited?
Sometimes when I try to edit the content of a PDF file which was created by converting an image into a PDF file, I notice that Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional tells me that this Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot support this content.
On the other hand, even if Adobe Acrobat professional could edit a PDF file, I notice that there are far too many restrictions to edit the content, for example, if your new editing words are more than the old then the line goes out the page instead of going to a new line. In addition, if you reached to the end of a line, and then you press 'Enter' to let the rest of words of the last line be written  on the next line, you notice that the words  writes on the words of  line which follows the line which is being edited. As a result, the text would be quite crazy.
Any comments would be highly appreciated
    Thanks a lot,

Even in the case of files created from word processing files, I notice that there are far too many restrictions in editing the content. • Problems creating a PDF file w/ Word 2000 + Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

    Hi all,
we have a problem with some of our word files. When trying to create a PDF file w/ Word 2000 and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional by pressing on the Acrobat button in Word, sometimes the PDF distiller gets stuck and doesn't create a PDF file. When pressing <Alt>+<F9> we see that the file is overcrowded with fields, e.g.:
    {PRINT \p para "[ /EMC pdfmark [ /StPop pdfmark"} { PRINT \p para "[ /EMC pdfmark [ /StPop pdfmark" }
    { PRINT \p para "[ /Subtype /P /StPNE pdfmark" }  { PRINT \p para "[ /StBMC pdfmark" ] { PRINT \p para "[ /Subtype /P /Title () /StPNE pdfmark}
    etc.
When deleting all of these fields it is possible to create a PDF file (which is quite a nuisance). Does anybody know what these fields mean and esp. what can be done to stop Word/Acrobat writing the text felds into our documents?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Chris

All of the marks are created to provide the tags and other items related to bookmarks, links, and accessibility. Sometimes there is a problem if your TEMP folder does not have enough room. You get these when you use PDF Maker (the create PDF icon in WORD). You can select the preferences in PDF Maker and deselect a lot of the items, particularly tags that tend to bloat the PDF but are useful for accessibility or going back to WORD (you should always keep the WORD file anyway). That may solve the problem. If you do not want any of the extra info, then print to the Adobe PDF printer instead.

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro crashes in 30 seconds

    Hello everybody,
I've got Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 installed on my PC running Windows 7 64-bit (Corei7 2600K, 16GB DDR3. I got the Creative Suite 5 Master Collection and Acrobat X separately and installed them one after the other on the same day. A problem I've just noticed for the first time cropped up about a week ago. I normally used to have Adobe Reader as my default program to open and view PDF files, but recently when I tried to open PDF files in Acrobat for the first time since installation, the program crashes. The program will start up perfectly and display the PDF correctly, but after about 30 seconds, every time I've tried, with different PDF's from different sources and different sizes and versions, Acrobat X always crashes. I can use the program fully within those 30 seconds, for example, resizing the image, selecting text, finding text in a document, etc. all works perfectly, but every single time the Acrobat X Pro opens, it crashes after 30 seconds with the usual Windows 7 Program Crash dialogue box that reads:
    "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
The only option the dialogue box gives is to Quit, so I click that and it closes the program fully but nothing else happens. Now Adobe Reader still works fine so I've had to revert to that to view all my PDF files, but I can't edit or properly interact with them.
I understand that this post is somewhat vague because I have no error code or anything to identify what is happening. If there is a way to obtain this information, and if said information might help anybody reading this to assist me in repairing the issue, please let me know what to do.
If some crash log isn't required but somebody has come across a similar issue or heard of anything like this, I would be much obliged to hear possible causes or solutions to the problem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all very much,
    Akbar

    Found the answer at http://www.computertutoring.co.uk/hints-tips/acrobat-help-stopped-working.asp
    Worked for me!
    Here it is:
Use the control panel to uninstall Acrobat
In Windows Explorer, ensure that all of the Acrobat files are deleted by going to c:\program files\adobe\acrobat\ folder. Trash any leftover folders.
Using the control panel, create another user account giving it administrator priviledges and use this account to reinstall Adobe Acrobat from the installation CD. (Careful you don't reinstall all the software or you could be waiting a long time).
Hope it works for you, too.
