Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Program Size

I am trying to free up space on the C Drive of my laptop.  Looking at Control Panel/Programs and Features to see what unnecessary software I could uninstall and I noticed that Adobe Acrobat X Pro Version 10.1.11 was 6.63Gb in size.  I checked with my two work colleagues who have the same version installed but their sizes were 2.7Gb and 3.2Gb.  As the attached screenshot shows, nothing even comes close to this size, with the next largest program being iTunes at 220Mb.
I have two questions:
1.  Why are the sizes different; and
2.  Why is so much space required.

I don't know.  I have a higher Acrobat version installed, and Programs & Features shows a size of 2.5 GB.
That Size information is often an estimate (or plain guess); see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2004/07/09/178342.aspx
If you want to know the real size that Acrobat occupies on your disk, right-click on the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0 folder and select Properties; the total size is displayed on the General tab.

  • Moving adobe acrobat x pro to larger drive D (off ssd2 drive C) - what are the steps needed

I have Win7, only 4 GB left on my SSD drive C and a large regular drive D. My programs are on drive C (which includes Master CS6 and Adobe acrobat X Pro) and documents/pictures are on drive D and I still need to clear out room on drive C. Before I buy a larger drive C SSD, can I :
Move Adobe Acrobat X Pro program to drive D by uninstalling on drive C and reinstalling it on Drive D?
Do I need to move the program CS6 Master collection to the same drive that adobe Acrobat X Pro exists?
Does Adobe Acrobat X Pro need me to move any other programs from C to D in order to work - if uninstall on drive C and reinstall on drive D doesn't take care of all supporting files?
if I am able to move Acrobat X Pro to drive D, will my documents know the path or is there a way to make sure that everything reroutes to drive D?
Will Acrobat X Pro updates find the program if it is on drive D, or is there something to direct updates to the new location, if I am able to move X Pro to drive D?
I need step by step examples, even though I know web design and xhtml/css/php/js coding, hardware and this kind of cleaning up intimidates me.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

You can sometimes move software by uninstalling and reinstalling. However ON NO ACCOUNT uninstall Acrobat that is part of Creative Suite, because it is a devil of a job to reinstall. Use only Creative Suite installer; not sure if it can install to another disk.
If the software is installed to another location it should just work with nothing to fix.
But the savings may be much smaller than you think. Only a little of the disk space used is in the selected disk. Some is in Common Files, which doesn't move, and much more is in the Windows Installer Database, which doesn't move.
I would look for other savings than moving software.

  • Moving Adobe Acrobat XI Pro to a new hard drive

I have an installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro program I use very often on my desktop computer. I installed it with a download install. I am about to transfer to using a new desktop computer and trying to figure out how to transfer the program to my new desktop hard drive without having to pay for it again. Any ideas on how I can transfer it?

Copy the download to the new computer and install. If you are not going to use the old computer any  longer, you should deactivate the installation of Acrobat on that system. You are allowed 2 installs with your license for your personal use.

    Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

  • How to set adobe acrobat 9 pro as pdf default program on mac snow leopard OS?

how to set adobe acrobat 9 pro as pdf default program on mac snow leopard OS?

I say to highlight more than one if you can because if the PDF you highlight was made by using Acrobat, it will change all PDF's made by Acrobat but if you have one made by some other product, it may not change them to open with Acrobat.
So in other words, at some point you may have to do it to a PDF made by some other product.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro version 10.1.12: Save As, Reduce Size PDF

I am running Adobe Acrobat X Pro version 10.1.12.  The File > Save As > Reduced Size PDF..." does not work.  The file size barely changes, if it changes at all.  In some cases, the file size is slightly larger after saving using the reduced size PDF option.  In previous versions, the option would drastically reduce the document size.  The documents are all text in black/white with no graphics and usually Times New Roman or Arial type fonts.  Nothing fancy.  Is this a bug in this version?  I have been unsuccessful in finding a fix.  Optimizing does nothing.  Any insight you may provide will be most helpful.  Thank you in advance.

It's working for me, reducing like Acrobat Pro 9 did (that was my previous version). According to the software, saving to the latest possible version of Acrobat will give the biggest reduction. Good luck.

  • Al instalar de nuevo mi programa adobe acrobat x pro, no me funciona ¿Cómo puedo solucionarlo?

Al instalar de nuevo mi programa adobe acrobat x pro, no me funciona. ¿Cómo puedo solucionarlo?

On what platform/OS? What do you mean by does not work? Did you reenter the SN and such when you installed it? Does Acrobat open at all (this is related to the question about does not work)? If so, then go to Help and do the updates. If you can't open Acrobat at all you can try the following (Windows assumed):
    1. Go to Start>Control Panel>Programs & Features (or the equivalent), select Acrobat, and do a repair.
    2. Download the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and install the updates in order (unless indicated where you can skip -- downloading from the last to the oldest will let you know which you can skip). You only need to reboot after the last update.
Something similar will likely work on a MAC.
