Adobe Acrobat XI Standard crashes when we create pdf from scanner

We are using adobe acrobat XI standard, version 11.0.06
WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit
scanner: Xerox documate 4799
Acrobat crashes when we create pdf from scanner

Spent quite a while on this one..  My problem was related to twain drivers which reside in c:\windows\twain_32.  I'm running windows 7 64-bit.  First it's usually possible to scan in windows 7 maybe vista and from adobe without even using twain (using WIA).  So try renaming the twain_32 folder to _twain_32 and see what happens...  If that stops the crashing look at the contents of the twain folder.  I had a Dell folder for some printer I wasn't even using.  That was causing the crash. I removed the dell folder and renamed the twain folder back to twain_32.  Now everything works as designed.

I have downloaded and installed the latest updates. This is happening on two new PCs with the same configuration. Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard crashes when editing a document

I have a user that has Adobe Acrobat 9 standard, version is 9.2.0.124.  Whenever he goes to edit the document Adobe hangsup and then crashes.  This is the error he gets from the event views.
Faulting application Acrobat.exe, version 9.2.0.124, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x65537661.
I did an uninstall and reinstall of Adobe recently to try and clear the error.  Before that he was getting a message about admplugin.apl being the cause of the crash.  But well it's still happening after that.  Anyone know what I can do to resolve this for him?
Did an update again, but still getting the crashes this time the message is.
Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 9.5.1.283, faulting module admplugin.apl, version 9.5.1.283, fault address 0x000834bb.
So the pluginfile is still the cause of it.

You might try removing the plugin according to the post at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/393593. You might just want to move it to a temporary location and see if that solves the problem. You may need to run a Repair later, but give this a try in the meantime.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 standard - crash when print pdf with watermark

it is the EXACT same issue as this:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402928&sliceId=1
the problem is, the steps indicated here to fix the problem in solution 1, do not apply to STANDARD, even though it says it does.
    Solution 3 works just fine.
The problem is this, I do not want my watermarks at 100% opacity. Every solution I have found says "Select PDF Optimizer from the Advanced menu.
I do not see that menu/option anywhere in acrobat 8 standard. I need a fix for this issue, and printing a watermark at %100 opacity or getting a new printer isn't a solution.
Apparently if I could just run the pdf optimizer i could fix this issue, but its nowhere to be found.
I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks in advance

I believe the PDF optimizer is only in Professional. I don't have 8 on
my machine now. There may have been something under the file menu that
did some optimization called Reduce File size, but I don't know if it
will fix your problem or what version numbers had the option.

  • Create PDF from Scanner using Acrobat X Pro

I am using trial Acrobat X Pro. When I attempt to Create PDF documents from Scanner using Epson Perfection 4490 Photo flat-bed scanner I get pop-up that states Epson cannot be started.  This also occurs when I Create PDF from Scanner > Custom Scan > Scanner when I select Epson Perfection 4490 scanner. My scanner is turned on when I attempt to create PDF from scanner. I have no problem scanning documents and then creating PDF documents from file, but I would like to eliminate this step.  Thanks in advance--any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is a tricky problems as hundreds have had the same problem. Research on the net demonstrated that no one had the solution. Some have even thrown perfectly good scanners away. The problem is most likely  obtaining permission from Win 7 security. Don't bad mouth Adobe Acrobat or your scanner software. This solution will work and has been tested to work. You must be logged in as administrator. This will not help Mac User.
    1. Find the file acroscanbroker.exe
    2. Select properties
    3. Select security tab
    4. Select "users/*********
    5. Edit settings
    6. Full control  Check box
    7. Modify         Check box
    8. Read and Execute    Check box
    9. Read            Check box
    10. Write           Check box
Your scanner should now work and any grayed out menus should come to life.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from  Microsoft Project 2007

Issue: Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from Microsoft Project 2007.
    OS: Win XP Pro SP3
    Error Message(s): None
Details: This issue happens with multiple Microsoft Project files (including new files), multiple PDF creators (included Acrobat 8 Standard) and on multiple computers. We also tried opening the PDFs in Adobe Reader 8 instead of Acrobat Standard 8. There is no record in the event log on the computers of the application crashes.

I may have a resolution now...
I clicked Tools -> Options -> View and turned off Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D" on the advice of someone on a Microsoft Forum. I made three PDFs from three Microsoft Project files (that were having trouble previously) and was not able to get these PDFs to crash when zooming or changing pages. So far so good!

  • I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?

I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create>pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?

Provide you have Acrobat 9 installed in an OS for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the functionality.
As well, you need a scanner connected, powered up, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefers" TWAIN drivers.
Always visit the scanner vendor's site and download - install the latest greatest software.
n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013.
As well the Acrobat 9.x product family is not compatible with contemporary OSs.
    Be well...

This might be a scanner issue. Have you tried scanning using other applications?
If not, can you try the following steps once?
    1. Download TWACKER (Twack_32.msi) from http://www.twain.org/downloads.shtm
    2. Install it.
    3. Go to <Program files>\TWAIN Working Group\Twacker 32 and invoke Twack_32.exe.
    4. Go to File menu > Select Source.
    5. Select the TWAIN driver (not the WIA driver) for HP M1212nf and Click OK.
    6. Now, invoke File > Acquire menu.
    Please update with the result.

  • "Create PDF from scanner" causes Adobe 8.1 to crash

Can anyone help us repair Acrobat 8?  Or upgrade/reinstall Acrobat 9?  We've got WinXP, running SP 3.
When we moved our PC to our new office, the create PDF from scanner function quit working, and now makes the entire program crash.  We can still create PDFs other ways, but from scanner isn't working - the "Acrobat Scan" dialog box opens, but after about 5-10 seconds, the crash window comes up.  Repairing, updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling the software all fail.  Here are the errors for each attempt:
Repairing: "Preparing to install" dialog pops up but immediately disappears and no further action takes place.
Updating: It attempts to install update to 8.1.4, and the process begins, but after 5-10 seconds quits with error dialog "The installation process has encountered a problem. Please choose from the following options:" with 3 choices - run again, stop and start later, or cancel and quit.  Selecting "run update again" just causes the error dialog to come up again.  The other 2 quit the install entirely.
Uninstalling (via add/remove programs) and reinstalling (via downloading the software from the Order ID site again) both fail independent of each other with the same error: “The installation source for this product is not available.  Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.”
We do a lot of scanning to PDF's ... how can we fix this?  There've been no other PC problems whatsoever, otherwise ...
My name is Scott Knowles, tech support guy for my sister's PC ... whose account this is.

The scanner is an all-in-one printer, in perfect working order otherwise.   Good idea though - I tried scanning *outside* the Acrobat software ... that proved the scanner software *is* faulty ... I'll repair that.  Thank you !

  • Acrobat 9 Quits When Create PDF from Scanner Selected

Hi. I wonder if anyone can advise please.
I have recently installed Acrobat 9 on my MacBook Pro and have plenty of RAM. However, I can "Create PDF from Scanner" just the once. After that, Acrobat quits when I select Scan or quits if I cancel the scan.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Troubleshoot System Errors & Freezes
    2. New User account
    3. Recreated Preferences
    4. Booted from separate disk
    5. Repaired disk permissions
    6. Have no third party plug-ins installed
    7. Have run Repair Acrobat
    8. Changed Universal Access
    9. Defragmented disk & repaired files
    10. Safe Boot and reinstall Acrobat
Nothing has worked except when I clean install I can scan through Acrobat once.
I can scan from the scanner software - Lexmark 4850 - with a jpeg straight to Acrobat but want to try to solve the issue of scanning straight from the app.
    Thanks for your help people.
    Regards
    Paul

After I discovered my problem of quitting after completing the scan of the first side of a 2-sided document and decided to go to Adobe for help, I should have known I was in real trouble after following their instructions for locating the Acrobat serial number. After bringing up the splash screen and clicking on it, instead of seeing the number the splash screen disappeared! So I had no option but to use the phone. Then their help person couldn't give me the serial number- he had to transfer me- and I chose to stay with him for help instead. He decided it was a conflict between the Acrobat & HP software and ended the help session.
I then did some on-line research and discovered others with the same problem, and came up with the comparison test with the Windows version. Adobe's phone system didn't recognize my Case #, but the second Help person said it worked fine. At that point, I got the feeling that I was in real trouble. After another hour going over the same ground and repeated denials that their software was at fault, the Helper refused my request that they do a Windows comparison test or send me a Windows version to test myself and promised to call me back with results of their "research". That call never came.
On the third call, again with the Case # unrecognized by the phone system, the Helper was even more unhelpful, probably after reading the record of the first two calls. He insisted on going back to the machine and over the same ground once again, and I ended the call.
I agree that the on line approach is better, and I may have to make a double call to get the serial number (neither of the two I have, each different on the case or on the CD worked) and try that if my request for a supervisor fails. Fortunately they are so incompetent that they can't track starting over.
I'm not a programmer, but have lots of varying experience with computers dating back to the first Atari-400. Since your Acrobat uses only the Twain driver component from your scanner software, the first place to look for a problem is in the Acrobat software, especially since the software doesn't run again after the first use without reinstalling, and the scanner continues to perform properly using it's installed software. The Windows comparison test such as Tim Whitfield was able to make, would clearly establish the Mac version of the Acrobat software to be at fault, but would still not resolve our problems. Unfortunately I hold out little hope for either you or I with Adobe, since neither their phone nor the online help has come up with a prior fix. This indicates a bug fix requirement, which for something like this looks to be a relatively long time in coming.

    Hi miketayber,
We would love to help, but need to know a bit more to get to the root of the problem. Please tell us:
What version of Acrobat are you using
    What operating system you're on
Whether you've been able to scan previously
What you're scanning to (do you have the latest drivers?)
Is there an error message or number associated with the crash?
We look forward to hearing back from you.

kglad  your link refers to Windows XP. As to the rest it is questionable. First of all it would be nice to know the cause, before fixing the problem. For in some cases eliminating the cause will solve problems later on. So, in my case for ex. The problem did not exist until I protected my Word 2010 document and then saved it to PDF--which it would not allow to do so and giving the error message stated above.
