Adobe AE CS5.5 will not launch on Mac

I just purchased the student edition of After Effects CS5.5 after having used the trial version with no problem.  After install, it wouldn't launch--no greeting screen.  Restarted, and tried to launch and got blue screen with total hang up of machine.  Hard restarted and still won't launch. Bounces once in the dock and then holds still.
Here are the specs of my Mac:
OS X version 10.6.8
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel core i7
Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Please help ASAP.
Thanks!

I have uninstalled and re-installed several times.
I have successfully used previous versions of ADE on this laptop in the past.

Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.

  • Photoshop CS5 will not launch

Photoshop CS5 will not launch either from the desktop or program list. The only way to launch is to log out and restart the computer. At the end of each session I reset the preferences in the Workspace.  I am running Win 7 ultimate with 4GB of ram. System is 64 bit .  Display is ATI Radeon HD  5700 series. Adapter type is AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x68B8). The computer has an Intel(R) series/3400 Chipset Family.
When I installed from the disk I received the message  Exit Code 6, 0 fatal errors, 21 errors, 1 warning. I have reinstalled several times and still get the same message. Tried disabling start up items while installing but same message.

One thing that sort of jumps out at me, regarding running the program, is that 4GB of RAM. With a 64-bit OS, 4GB is just about the minimum to run the OS, with little to nothing left over for a program, like Photoshop. I would bump that up, and to 12 - 16GB, if possible.
For the installation, I think that Mylenimum has posted some very useful links.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Bridge will not launch in Mac OSX 10.6.8

Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard (Mac OS) works fine except for Bridge which will not launch from Photoshop or from Applications, after 2 Uninstall/Reinstalls,and same attempts with new user account. Can anyone help?

    Hi Gannett,
You are right.  A couple of years ago,  I had transferred all MacBook contents (including Photoshop Elements) to a new iMac. A freeze up of the new computer resulted (at Apple's suggestion) in using the old user account (from the MacBook). When I installed the Adobe Creative Suite this fall, Bridge  would not launch. After days of frustrating troubleshooting and searching the web in vain,  the case with Adobe escalated to Level 3; I spent over 4 hours on the phone with an Adobe expert (in Manila!) before this was solved by creating a new virgin account created (with nothing except the basic iMac software and the Adobe Suite on it. Gun shy of any further adjustments or migrations, I decided to keep the new user account strictly for my Creative Suite work. End of problem. Thanks for getting back to me, and  Merry Christmas!

  • Adobe Illustrator CC will not launch

My Adobe Illustrator CC simply will not launch. It only opens a dialog that says, "Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 quit unexpectedly." There is a button that says "Reopen", but when I click there, it only opens the same dialog page. I have filled out the problem, which is suppose to notify the problem to Apple but so far so results have come to me with what might be wrong.
Can anyone, please help me to get Illustrator up and running again. Thanks

    Cathy,
I am afraid that Adobe will be closed down for the holiday be the end of the day, so I believ you had better act today.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch after Mac update

I updated my mac yesterday to Maverick and now Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch.  Can you tell me what files I need to delete to get it to launch.  I tried reinstalling it, and that didn't help.
    thanks

It's very strange.  When I try to double click on the program to open it,
it's like I'm doing nothing.  it sort of blinks like it's going to open but
does nothing.  That's the way it is if I control click and try to open too.
I did try to reboot.  Is there something I could delete in the Library
    file or something?
    thanks

  • Flash will not launch unless Mac is booted in Safe Mode

This Flash app. is part of Adobe MC CS5 Suite. The computer is iMac with latest update. All updates recent on CS5. All other apps. in suite are good.
Flash launch hangs when initializing Tools. After about 10 minutes it completes it's launch but frequently crashes after awhile.
I have deleted the plist, uninstalled/reinstalled. The only way it will work is if I boot the iMac in Safe Mode.
    Any thoughts?

You are SO right! I discovered Wednesday there were
TONS of fonts installed over the summer from the Folio Collection. They were inside a  folder within the Fonts folder and I didn't go far enough down the fonts list to get to "F" where they ended up alphabetically.
    You get the prize.
What is still a mystery is why Flash reacted to excessive fonts and not the other apps. in the Collection? I will, however, not lose sleep over this.

  • Adobe Bridge CC will not launch OS 10.9.5

I've recently installed Adobe Creative Cloud onto a brand new Mac Pro.  All the Adobe apps launch with no issue except for Bridge, which does not launch at all.  The app icon bounces in the dock for a second, then disappears.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, changing the read/write access for the app, and nothing.  I spoke to Adobe support, and they suggested I create a dummy account to see if it launches there, and it does.  So it's my particular account (which is also the admin account) in which it won't launch. Any ideas?

Mcatalena24 did you receive any errors during the installation process or when trying to open Bridge CC?  Also which operating system are you using?  I would recommend reviewing your installation log file for error messages.  Please see Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html for information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

  • Itunes crashes and will not launch on Mac PC G5

I have a Mac PowerPC G5 Version 10.5.8 and Itunes Version 10.  I signed up for the cloud a month ago if that means anything and now Itunes has been crashing and will not open or if it does it will crash when trying to play a song. Any suggestions or ideas to figure out how to make Itunes launch?

Anyone? I can not get Intunes to load without crashing. See system setup above. Is there a fix that someone can suggest?

  • Why is it that Adobe CS2 software will not work with Mac OS Mountain Lion? What do I do?

Why is it that I must pay more money to upgrade my Adobe software so that it will work with Apple Mac OS Mountain Lion. Is it that Adobe wants to wring every cent out of me in order for me to use there products? Or should I just delete the Adobe software from my system and forget about Adobe and find something else?

Waynjer61 please see the system requirements for Creative Suite 2 listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195856.
The largest issue which is preventing you from utilizing Creative Suite 2 on your current computer is the switch which was made from PowerPC processors to Intel processors.  This coupled with Apple dropping Rosetta support, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_(software), which previously allowed Intel processors to utilize applications coded for PowerPC processors is the main cause of Creative Suite 2 no longer functioning under newer operating systems.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite (10.10.1) my Adobe Illustrator CS5 will not load.

When I open my CS5 it says "to open 'Adobe Illustrator CS5' you need to install the legacy Java 6 runtime". Don't know what that means or how to find it and I've tried.
I'm somewhat compter  saviez but this I cannot figure out.
    Please help!

    jl,
    It is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572
Some have found that the page may turn up blank to start with, so it may be necessary to reload the page.
Others have found that it may depend on browser. Specifically, a switch from Safari has solved it in one case.
Apart from that, I believe the right order/way is to update the OS, then reinstall the applications. Was that how you did it?

  • Adobe CS4 Indesign will not start on Mac OSX 10.9

    Hi everybody,
I recently ported my Adobe CS from an older Mac to a new machin under OSX 10.9. (Mavericks), i.e. i installed the suite from the originals DVDs. No errors were reported. I checked that all programs I need should be campatible. Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator run fine. Indesign, however, does not start but signals an "Error 5". No further explanation. What could possibly be wrong?
    Best regards,

Might be permissions to write the prefs. See Cant launch new inDesign CC | Adobe Community

  • Adobe Bridge CC will not launch

Hi - I was doing a little cleanup on my Windows 7 machine and noticed that I still had Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC(2014). I uninstalled Photoshop CC. (Note that I also have Photoshop and Bridge CS6 installed.)
When I then went in to Photoshop CC(2014) and tried to use the Browse in Bridge option, the CC installer launched and installed Bridge CC. Good I thought.
When I restarted Photoshop CC(2014) and tried the Browse in Bridge nothing happened. Starting Bridge directly from the shortcut on the start menu gets the same result. Nada.
A search of the forums finds that this is not an uncommon occurrence (for example, https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1502288?q=bridge%20not%20working) with some people finding various combinations of uninstalling, using cleaner tools and re-installing working in some instances.
I was hoping that since this is a long-standing issue, that someone could direct me to a definitive solution.
    Many thanks
    Dave

I am not sure what I did to fix this (I did install Lightroom CC), but everything seems to be working. The Adobe gods seem to be smiling on me today..
