Adobe After Effects Crash! Help! SOS!

hello, thanx for reading this question. id like to come to the point, i have just installed adobe after effects cs3 pro v8.0.0 on my pc and its working fine, until yesterday when i tried to import a video file which is in .avi format. i can tell you surely that i did nothing of consequence to the working of the program before i tried importing it! but when i double clicked the file i wanted to import, adobe after effects crashes and gives me one more chance at saving the project i was working on before freezing. i had to click close and end now to shut the program down. everything else works fine on the program except when i try to import a video file! ive heard people saying that you need to delete or reset your preferences and that would solve your problem but if that is the solution, how do i do it, and if it isn't the solution what do i do? thanx a lot for reading this question and hope u reply to it with a solution! thanks, ciao!

First, make sure you run the Adobe Updater to install any software updates. Then, try transcoding your .avi into a different format/codec. The .avi could be using one of a variety of problematic codecs. To transcode it, use Quicktime Pro, or a variety of other transcoding options (google for various software that will do this for you).

  • After Effects crashing HELP

I have After Effects CS6 and I have a file running. I have 6 comps going in that file due to small animation clips for a big project. I have them set up and literally almost to render. But now every time I load it up, comp 3 loads up. I click comp 2 and 1 they work! If it pick comp 4,5 or 6 it tells me that AE has crashed and I can save before the crash. I really REALLY need these to work. I'm freaking out due to I have this project and its literally due like Tuesday. Please help me. I'm really worried and stressed!
    errors, including ae.blitpipe
That link is the actual error I am having. I'm doing updates but I'm still freaked and hoping it fixes the issue with my update! >_<
Update didn't fix my issue. Now I'm really freaked! >_<

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like exact project information or the crash logs. You are losing yourself in vague and generalized statments.

  • Trouble installing Adobe After Effects - please help!

I have just purchased Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium for my son's birthday.... Have tried to install and all programs are good except After Effects (which is the only program he actually wanted!!) + Premiere Pro - It says minimum system requirements not met.
My computer is an Intel Core 2 Duo and has Windows Vista installed - is this any good?
I know absolutely NOTHING about computers - all I know is that I have a grumpy birthday boy who wants this program installed.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated... and in laymans terms please.
    Thanks

AE and Premiere CS5.5 are 64bit and thus require a 64bit capable processor and operating system. Neither seems to be the case here. However, if you properly bought the suite, you can always install the CS4 versions of these products... Please read this KB article for more specifics.

  • New to Adobe After Effects pls HELP

Just wondering if anyone knows of a way (dont care how hard i will learn) to wipe a layer of video away but have it animated at the same time, kind off like a watery wipe away so maybe part of the video drips or something. just wondering if this is even possible.
    your help is much appreciated
    Sam

One way to do a wipe like that is to use a flowing liquid animation (or stock footage) as a track matte, for one layer to reveal the layer underneath.
Here's a downloadable project for a nice watercolor wipe that you can pick apart to see how it's done:
    http://chriszwar.com/wordpress/2009/02/watercolour-wipe-revised-updated/
Since you're new to After Effects, I very strongly recommend that you start here and work your way through the basics. Doing so will prevent a lot of frustration.

  • Adobe After Effects Crashes on Start-up on all 3 of my PC's.

    Hi there,
I'm pretty sick with this problem, in 6 days, on 3 PC's I have AE's trial installed on all three of my PC's (two homebuilds and a Dell XPS) and on all computers all attempts to open the program results in a program crash 1 second after the window opens.
    I've tried everything.
    Deleting preferences at start up.
    CCleaner
Logging in and out of (the awful) 'creative cloud' software.
    Creating new user accounts.
    Installing and uninstalling all software.
    Updating all drivers and software.
This really is a joke. I've been through all the forums and wasted hours and hours trying to get this program to start.  And people wonder why some turn to torrents.
Can anyone offer any pearls of wisdom as to how to get this program to stop closing at start up?
    Many thanks!
    Dell XPS - L502x 8GB RAM, i7, SSD's x 2 (loads of space).
    Homebuilds - i7 920 OC'd to 4GHZ 16GB RAM, 6x4TB drives
All W7 64bit up to date on all drivers and software.
no problems with LR or Photoshop starting,

Thank Szalam, I have tried this already and just tried again.  Set permissions to read/write removed and re-installed Quicktime and no luck at all.
AE opens, loads all the modules, loads the plugins on the right then just crashes closed with no error codes or warnings.  I can't see anything in the event viewer either.
I never had these issues before the 'Creative Cloud' came along
I have a client waiting for their timelapse video, but until it's 'deflickered' it's going nowhere.  I will have to find another way of doing this, with software that is less temperamental!

  • Adobe After Effects - Masking Help/Problem!?

I will try and explain this clearly...
I am making a jump effect, so I am making myself jump.
I masked myself, clicked in the transform tab "rotation" and "position"
and then I moved myself up into the sky. Except, it didn't look right, because the size was too big when I made . So I tried clicking on each keyframe I had made, selected the mask, and made it smaller. Except, instead of changing the size on each keyframe, it just changes the size of the mask altogether! So if I go back to the beginning of the scene, the mask is too small, I take it to the original size again, but the size is then too big for when I fly into the sky.
So each keyframe I have made (of me jumping higher into the sky), I want the mask to get smaller.
    Thanks
P.S. Please don't mention rotoscoping, its not what I'm after for. I just want to decrease the size of my mask, in each keyframe, so every keyframe the mask gets a little bit smaller.

    > Please don't mention rotoscoping, its not what I'm after for. I just
want to decrease the size of my mask, in each keyframe, so every
keyframe the mask gets a little bit smaller.
Despite what you said, I'm going to mention rotoscoping. The basic skills of rotoscoping involve knowing how to change and animate the shapes of masks, so the question that you're asking is best answered by pointing you to instructions that apply to rotoscoping.
If you want to scale and transform an entire mask, but have the change only apply to one keyframe, make sure that just one Mask Path keyframe is selected, and then free-transform the whole mask path.

  • HELP ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS CS 5.5 KEEPS CRASHING

As soon as I load up adobe after effects it crashs. The load up thing stops at Intializing MediaCore and starts to say it is not responding and closes. But when I load up premiere pro CS 5.5 it works and has no problems at all. PLEASE HELP ME

In addition to the additional information Mylenium suggests (info about your computer, versions of software, etc.) it would also be helpful if you would mention how long it was working before it started crashing and anything that you can think of that changed between the last time it worked and all the crashing now.

    Hello Travelander,
Welcome to the Forums. As Mylenium has already mentioned that the issue could be with the permissions, you may try to run the program as an administrator and check if it opens up.

  • After effects crashing unpredictable, please help if you can?

Only be happening for a week or so. seems to be related to blurs in adjustment layers. ill be using blurs to spot blur certain anatomy for a tv show. sometimes I track and blur  with mocha sometimes manual track. ill be adjusting a track or a mask and ill get one of several unusual  chrashes/errors. usually, its this: <6896> <BEEp_InitSoundPB> <0> Vid rate ratios min, max: 1, 1. . If I reload the project and delete and rebuild the adjusment layer blurs (Box blur and mosaic) and it will render fine. but this happens enough to be a considerable time waster and is interferring with my work. I've looked up the errors online and tried any suggestions i could find (although it seems this error appears for many differ3ent reasons?). I've deleted media cache, changed cache drives, reinstalled video card drivers deleted preferences, turned off open GL, run diagnostics on my CPU. RAM and GPU, all turned up fine. The only thing I havent tried is uninstalling and reinstalling AFX which i want to leave for a last resort as I have no time! Also, I have CC and CC14 installed (just use cs6 more often because of plugins) and when I load the project into CC and scrub or render I get the same problem, again until I delete and rebuild Adjustment layer. I even collected and moved the project onto a mac laptop and it gets the same error!!

I apologize if I'm not using the correct terminology, I did in fact teach myself after effects, if that's what you mean. I've been using it for about 14-15 years, but I have found like many of the programs I use, Ill never learn all there is to know, and I would definitely defer to your judgement Dave as I have a great deal of respect for your experience and AE knowledge, having read many of your helpful posts in the past. (thank you, you've helped me before, and did not know it)
This is the first time I've encountered this particular error. Let me see if I can describe it better. The show I work for often requires me to blur out certain objects or anatomical parts for approval by standards and practices. Usually my workflow is to either manually, or with mocha AE track the offending area with a mask applied to an adjustment layer that has a box blur and a mosiac filter applied to it. The problem arose last week when I went back to a project created the week prior to add more blur to an existing comp. I started to adjust the blur and while scrubbing through timeline after effects crashed, giving me the following error <19665> AE.blitpipe <2> making new context. (or a variation of that, unfortunately, I didn't write down the initial error as  at first I thought it was just an annomoly). When I reloaded the project I kept getting the same crash/error until I removed the adjustment layer and re tracked and blurred. I tried the same comp on a mac laptop and it got the error as well.  I managed to get the render out in time and continued to work in after effects problem free until another blur project arose. this project had 10 shots. I followed my usual workflow and had finished all 10 comps and as going back through to tweak some masks when the error occurred on comp 4. same problem. also it seems as though whenever i reach the same frame range in the timeline is when it crashes, and its not always on the same frame, just in the same general area on the timeline. this happens sometimes during scrubbing, but always during render or RAM preview. I can open the original project where the error occurred and still get the same error in the same area along the timeline. Honestly, Im wondering if I have a corrupted DLL and just need to reinstall after Effects., but the question remains, if that IS the case, why would the same project give me the same errors in each version of after effects I own? (CS6, CC & CC2014) This is why I say corrupted project... not sure what else to call it?
And Ive gotten a variety of error messages during crash, I've gotten the :<19665> AE.blitpipe <2> making new context as well as <6896> <BEEp_InitSoundPB> <0> Vid rate ratios min, max: 1, 1. and <271636><DynamicLink> <5>  c:/programfiles\adobe\adobe premiere...
also different faulted modules when I click on details, sometimes ADM.dll sometimes wintab32.dll.. not consistent at all. This doesn't happen evertime I apply a blur layer, its just seemed to occur when time was most precious and I really needed to get renders out! haha, well thats what it feels like anyway. my wor around is now to immediately delete the problem adjustment layer, retrack and blur, but I'm hoping to find an answer for this irritating puzzle. I hate not understanding why this is happening.
I appreciate the help on this. I will probably reinstall after effects or perhaps even windows once I find the time, but time is hard to come by.

  • After Effects Alert! Help Please!!! Adobe After Effects

After Effects is very important to me as it gives me my greatest income, but since 2 days now, I havent been able to work using it as it gives me the following error:
    "After Effects Alert
    Last log message was: <140735186379536>
    <AppDirs> <5> Required Dir = /Applications/
Adobe After Effects CC/Adobe After Effects CC.app/
    Contents/Required
Generating crash log, which may take a few minutes."
This error occured with my After Efects CS6, and I couldnt find a solution to it, now I installed After Effects CC and still same error!!! My system information is:
    "MacBook Pro
    13-inch, Early 2011
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9 (13A497d)"
Note: Im using Apple - OS X Mavericks
Please I need help on this!!! I have also tried deleting the preference and allowing it generate a new one, but stil it doesnt work!!!

If After Effects is the primary source of income then the decision to install and run AE on a platform still in development was not a wise decision. I've done a bunch of development over the last 20 years with AE, and I've always had a backup version of my system, a dual boot to the new OS, or a dedicated machine for testing so that my families income was not in jeopardy while I was 'testing' a new system.
It takes about an hour and a half to install Mountain Lion and AE on a machine. I'd do that and get back to work. In all of my years beta testing for many manufacturers and working with developers I've never lost 2 days because I handcuffed my self to an unproven system.
If you must test a new OS set up a dual boot, or boot to a different hard drive. Either option is available easily on a Mac or a Windows PC. Don't expect Adobe to release an update that makes AE compatible with the new OS until the new OS is released to the public.
As another note, from what I've read the problems with CC on Mavericks are mostly a problem with Mavericks right now. There's not much that Adobe can do about that.
Just one other question? Are you an Apple Developer? If so, did you not just violate your NDA???

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 Crashes During Startup

Hey I have a major problem i think.. after I installed AAE CS4 I picked the trial to see how it was b4 i bought it. Once everything was installed and complete I restarted my computer but when I went to open the program it pulled the grey aae startup box. It had 4% complete and said Initializing Media Core then it just stops and minutes later crashes with not progress. It continually does it with no improvement. Anybody that can help me?

I did all of the above:
    - 9.03 update
    -   1. Go go Control Panel -> System-> Advance System settings
         2. Click Advanced tab, Performance -> Setting
         3. Click Data Execution Prevention  -> Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select - > Here you click Browse and choose where your AE CS4 location is, and click Apply -> OK .
    - Run as administrator
Nothing worked. I still get the crash at start-up with the message
    <960> <AppDirs> <5> Required Dir=
    C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\Required.
and after that sorry, AE can'r continue..
Help me please, I have the 30 days trial and I desperately need to learn how this program works for a project. After that I want to buy it.
My system is 32bit Vista Windows, I installed AE CS4 (that's the last one to run on 32bit right?) and did an update to 9.03.
