"adobe .ai or .eps file" is not a valid Win32 application
I'm on Windows XP and can't open Illustrator .AI or .EPS files by double clicking them. When I do I get the error "...is not a valid Win32 application". I must go to file>open or drag the file icon to the AI icon. I checked some other threads, but had no luck. I did try going to control panel>folder options>file types>opens with. But that did not work. Photoshop and Acrobat files open fine when I double click them.
thanks
As I wrote many times, the best cure in such situations is to entirely delete any existing references to a file type or program from that list, then create the rules again from scratch. Nothing as refreshing as starting with a clean slate. In addition, check, whether other programs are having a hold on certain associations and/or are simply flooding your context menu with nonsense stuiff. Tools such as Nero burning software, various packer tools and a colorful array of other software have the bad habit of doing that...

When trying to open documents, getting error as File is not a valid Win32 application
Hi,
I am trying to open a MPP by clicking on the name of the file. But I am getting the error as "path\filename.mpp is not a valid Wind32 application".
I am able to save the document and open it in MPP, but clicking on the document name is giving this error "File is not a valid Win32 application".
I have tried to repair "Microsoft Project". But still the same issue. I am using Office 2010. SharePoint site is SP 2010.
How to fix this?
ThanksHi Ed,
I am sorry, but I could not understand that answer.
I have put that answer in the below quotes:
"You are never going to believe what I did. This is a nice ending to a very confusing situation. lol
I uninstalled Project 2007 and rebooted my laptop and reinstalled Project 2007. No Difference at all. Same thing happened. I just couldn't stop thinking about how 2007 Microsoft Office Component kept showing up in default programs. This has bugged me for days.
I went browsing in my program files. I typed in Microsoft Office Project. The only thing I found was WINPROJ. I decided to check it out. I checked it's properties, size, location, etc.. What did I have to lose at this point? I clicked on it and it went into
my default programs as Microsoft Office Project 2007. This doesn't make any sense to me. But, don't try to fix anything else if it isn't broken, right? It's working and I am so relieved. I mean, YAAAAY!!! Another mystery solved...
Thanks for hanging in there with me to help solve this mystery. You have been of great assistance to me. You made me think outside the box and it worked.
Laura"
Does it mean MPP Should be a 2007 version?

Error when downloading Itunes7 (file is not a valid win32 application)
What the **** does this mean? I can install Itunes 7 - tried everything on troubleshooter but nothings working.
Anyone got any ideas - apple smart guys I need you INTELLECT!!!
many thanks
RobboAre you installing directly from the ISO? If so, you can try with a new ISO in case this is broken. Also make sure your machine is joined to the domain and that you are executing the setup in the context of a local administrator.
Eventually, try to copy the ISO to local disk and run setup from there.

"not a valid Win32 application" error ...the post wont open for me
It seems as if that post is getting some help...and its exactly what i need...but it wont open for me..PLEASE...ANYBODY....this is becoming extremely frustrating...
I again –just now – uninstalled Adobe Reader 10.1.2 and got an "installation complete and no error codes. However, as before, attempting to open Adobe Reader with the desktop shortcut results in an “Adobe Reader cannot open in Protected Mode due a problem with your system configuration. Would you like to open Adobe Reader with Protected Mode disabled?” Regardless of my answer “Open with Protected Mode disabled” or “Do not open with Protected Mode disabled” the program opens and displays the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader\Eula.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.2, Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 and the 64 bit operating system.
I cannot find MSI log.

After uploading and converting my pdf to excel, i can not openthe file it reads not a valid Win32 application, what have I done wring
thanks
WWGood day WW,
It sounds like the extension for the file may have been stripped when you downloaded the file after conversion. Try renaming the file with a .xlsx extension or convert the file again and ensure it saves to your hard drive with a .xlsx file extension.
Kind regards,

To troubleshoot, we tried running the x86 version of scanstate.exe (from USMT from the Windows 8.1 ADK) manually by just double clicking on it on a few Windows XP SP3 systems and we get a similar error as seen below...
So, we thought maybe USMT from our Windows 8.1 ADK install maybe somehow corrupt, but downloading and installing it again results in the same error, so it does not seem to be a file corruption issue. The x64 version of scanstate.exe works
fine on 64-bit OS's, its just Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) we are seeing this error.
Has anyone successfully using scanstate.exe from USMT 5.0 from the Windows 8.1 ADK successfully to capture user state from a Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) system?
Regards,
JJWindows 8.1 ADK comes with a newer version of USMT (NOT 5.0) and crashes. I learned this today the hard way. I hope Windows 8.0 ADK's loadstate.exe works for restoring to a 8.1 machine.
Yesterday i used Windows Easy Transfer to move from XP to 7, and then re-did the backup in 7 so it would be compatible with 8.1, and it only restores files, not settings.
So i will test USMT 5.0 in this same scenario, because i have 30 machines to change to newer machines with 8.1 -
Error 'RecoveryMgr.exe is not a valid Win32 application' when trying to restore in Win7
I really hope someone can help as this is driving me mad!
System details - G62 Notebook running Windows 7
The notebook crashed after a Windows update and wouldn't boot up. I made it into the recovery manager and back my files before restoring to factory settings.
Since getting back in I am unable to get my files back. I have tried through the recovery manager but it does not allow me to see the files on the dvd. I have also tried through backup and restore but no joy there either. When I click on RecoverMgr.exe on the dvd I get error 'RecoveryMgr.exe is not a valid Win32 application' and it won't open.
I hope someone has managed to solve this before as I would love my files back. All suggestions greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. Thanks Mumbodog. Unfortunately I have tried and the files won't copy. Starting to think they are corrupt! Have tried on a few different PC's but no luck. Really annoyed Any other suggestions?

does anyone know what this means or how i can fix it??grgatzby,
Empty the cache files of your browser and temp directory as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Then save the file again to another location on the computer.
If you cannot clear the cache, try to download the iTunes and quicktime setup installer from the quicktime site: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html

"not a valid Win32 application" message when trying to install iTunes 7.0
I have downloaded the new iTunes 7.0 setup file. When I click on the icon on my desktop, I get the message, " C:____\iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application".
This problem doesn't seem to be specifically addressed in the troubleshooting suggestions on this website. Does any one have any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this problem? I've tried uninstalling older versions of iTunes and Quicktime, and re-downloaded new software package, but problem continues. After using the Windows Installer clean up tool and removing the iTunes 7.0.7.16 install file I was able to update to 7.0.2

I ran a search on pc of all files for "ipod" and deleted all of the previous downloads of the latest updater we have been trying to use, including the ones i had sent to the recycle bin and then downloaded again, it did the proper download thing again (progress bar). selected run instead of save and Hey Presto it worked.

I suspect it might have something to do with DLLu2019s and 64 bit machine but cant think of anything to do.
<BR><BR>
If anyone has some tips / help it would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Edited by: Juan Janse on Jun 17, 2009 11:42 AMThanks for the reply, i did have a look at the link and did not help. Just also worth mentioning is that on the system drive for a 64 bit you will find the following folders.
C:\Program Files (x86)
and
C:\Program Files
i have also seen a mention about a folder containing a space " " in the folder name can cause this but it only relates to the folder as defined for a virtual directory ie C:\myWeps\app 1 where "app 1" has a space. The recommendation is that you should not have any spaces. ie
E:\usr\sap\TXP\TRX02\exe\WebServer as defined for TREX.
I have this installed also on a 32 bit with no issue.
Anyone else with some tips are well come -
Not a valid Win32 application error when starting javahost
Hi,
I am getting the error below. I have searched this forum and the web and found some mentions of it here and there, but no solutions (by the way I am not using MS IIS).
OBI EE is installed on Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition with Service Pack 2. Everything else (BI Server, presentation services and OC4J instance) is working fine.
Any help on how to solve this would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

D:\oracle\OracleBI\web\bin>Just found the solution for it. I had to "install" a 32 bit JRE and use it to run the java host.
In fact I didn't install the JRE, I just copied its full folder structure from a 32 bit machine to the 64 bit machine and pointed JavaHome in the instanceconfig.xml to there.
All is working well and everybody is happy now, however I am still confused... as I said, the OC4J is running fine with a 64 bit JRE, why the java host needs a 32 bit one? Do you think something went wrong in the installation or that is how things are?

Trouble installing itunes -itunessetup.exe is not a valid win32 application
I have trouble installing itunes. The following message appears: C:\Documents and Setting\Owner\My Documents\ itunsSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I tried the following but I still have problems: remove previous version of itunes, remove quicktime, install again quicktime as a standalone, delete temporary files, restart computer, delete all itunes related files.
Finally an answer from Apple:
Dear Stefanie,
I understand that you're receiving an error when trying to open the iTunes
installer that you downloaded. I'd like to try to help you resolve this issue.
It appears that your web browser may be truncating your download of the iTunes
software. I urge you to try using a different web browser to download iTunes. If
this is not possible, you can also try using a different computer to download
iTunes, and then transfer the iTunes installer file (iTunesSetup.exe) to your
original computer and open it from there.
Some transfer options would include using your iPod to transfer the file via
hard disk mode, using a local network, burning a CD, using an external hard disk
or a USB drive, or even sending the file to yourself via email or over an
instant messaging network.
I hope this information helps to resolve your iTunes installation issue. If it
does not and you still need assistance from Apple, you will need to call Apple
technical support (there may be a fee associated with the call). To find the
appropriate phone number, please visit:
http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html

Andrew
