Adobe air 1.5.1 and linux

Hi,
I am using suse 11. I have just created an AIR application setup. It works fine with linux. probably faster than my windows.
Yes, video is not working. There are some other issues with AIR and linux and as I know those issues are already mentioned by either adobe team or some other guys.
Here what I want to discuss is ...directory file listing problem. [I have tried to list font files files of application root --> ttf folder]
I am not sure whether it would be of security issue or something else.
Hope anyone explain it better.
Thanks,
DEL

Hi DEL
Thanks for using AIR-Linux and thanks for reporting the issue. In order to solve the problem kindly provide the answers to the following questions:
1. How are you trying to list the files in the folder? Can you provide a code snippet?
2. What is the incorrect behaviour you are observing?
3. Are you using a non UTF-8 system ?
Thanks

  • Adobe AIR 3 Performance Issues and Code Signing Certificate Problem

I recently updated to Adobe AIR 3.0 SDK (and runtime) doing HTML/Javascript development using Dreamweaver CS5.5 in a Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit).
The AIR app I'm developing runs well from within Dreamweaver. But when I create/package the AIR app and install it on my machine:
    1. The app literally CRAWLS running it in my Windows 7 12G RAM machine (especially when I use the mouse to mouse over a 19-by-21 set of hyperlinks on a grid) --- IT IS THAT SLOOOOWWWW...
    2. The app runs fine in my Mac OS X 10.6.8 with 4G RAM, also using the Adobe AIR 3 runtime.
About the Code Signing Certificate problem:
When I try to package the AIR app with ADT using AIR's temporary certificate feature, I get the error message "Could not generate timestamp: handshake alert: unrecognized_name".
I found some discussions on this problem in an Adobe AIR Google Groups forum, but no one has yet offered any resolution to the issue. Someone said Adobe is using the Geotrust timestamping service --- located at https://timestamp.geotrust.com/tsa --- but going to this page produces a "404 --- Page not found" error.
The Google Groups Adobe AIR page is here:

  • Adobe AIR HTML/JS application and Windows Native Installer

    Hi,
I am building an Adobe AIR application with HTML and Javascript and I would like to know how to make an Windows Native Installer.
I am trying to build it with Flash Pro but it keeps returning the error 'Invalid SWF file'. At the application.xml file the <content> points to my index.html file. I don't use any SWF file. When I change this to point to the SWF it does build tha installer but the application loads the SWF.
Is there any way to build a Windows Native Installer and the initial content be an HTML file?
p.s. I tried to extract the files from the installer file and edit the application.xml there to point to the index.html. But I can't repackage the files to a valid air native installer.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Thank you for reporting this. The internal bug number for the issue is #2740755. The issue is currently under review and will be investigated by one of AIR team members.

  • How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro

How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro that I had installed on my computer before Microsoft crashed my computer and I had to do a fresh install? I finished reinstalling Win 8.1Pro on my computer thanks to Microsoft Lvl 1 Techies corrupting my Command Structure so nothing would work. I had recently taken a picture of my installed programs (control panel, uninstall programs list) so that I would be able to reinstall everything I needed. I can't seem to find an email for the Reader which I remember paying for, the others I believe were free installs. Can anyone help me out.

Safari Version 5.0.5  <  from your first post
5.0.5 is an outdated version of Safari.
There is an update available for Safari for version 5.1.1
    That may help.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen the click Software Update
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
    Try full screen ...
If you have problems using Software Update from the menu you can use the standalone installer here >  Safari 5.1.1

  • Adobe air for android development in linux?

So, I'm shifting to a linux and I heard that adobe air does not support sdk 2.7 and higher! is that true for mobile app creations also or just .air packages? will I be able to compile android projects required adobe air 3.1 or 3.2 because I am building with Starling and I need newer adobe air runtimes... Please let me know. and will you please be able to tell me what software, IDE, I need to install on my linux to be able to package my .apk files on a linux?
    Thanks,
    Hadi

I need linux to package the apk for me because I will be changeing some files like some xml files in the bin folder and then I need the new files repackaged again... the linux will be used as a server side packaging for us... get the idea?
I've been using 3.0 in the xml namespace and it created "app.air" for me on the linux! I know I must put the -target apk to the "adt" call but when I set the -target method, it throws many errors!

  • EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Builder] Adobe AIR won't install on Linux

The auto-installer is a Windows executable.  Not much use on a Linux box.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easyrotator-for-wordpress/
I tried to install the plugin on http://5v5flag.com.   Granted I am running the latest wordpress version. Is anyone else having this problem. The solution that was offered to me is to try the newest version of Adobe Air and then the Easy Rotator installer. Still that did not work for me.

You will have to contact the author of the plug-in. This has nothing to do with Adobe.

  • Can't update Adobe AIR after Yosemite update and need it for a third-party app.

I updated to Yosemite and had some issues. After receiving help from Apple, I could not open a third-party app; it said I needed to update Adobe AIR. When I tried to do that, I got the same message saying I needed to update AIR again. I tried uninstalling and installing AIR but without success. What steps do I need to take?

I had a similar problem when trying to install Zinio.air. I have made it all work out. What i did was remove Adobe Air 15 entirely from the Utiliites and Library/ accounts and preferences. I then downloaded Adobe Air 13 and installed and then clicked on Zinio .air and it all installed ok. I also had to temporarily change security settings from Apple approved to Anywhere. All functioning now.

  • Adobe AIR for mobile expectations and misconceptions?

Hello, I am somewhat confused by the content published by Adobe which claims that AIR for Android or iOS publishing creates a fully native app.
For example, in this Adobe Developer Connection article (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/logged_in/abansod_iphone.html) written in May 2011, the following claims are made:
"Since we are able to compile ActionScript to ARM ahead of time, the application gets all the performance benefits that the JIT would offer and the license compliance of not requiring a runtime in the final application."
"When you build your application for iOS, there is no interpreted code and no runtime in your final binary. Your application is truly a native iOS app."
After reading a large amount of information like this from Adobe and other sources, I went ahead and bought an Android phone. After actually getting the .APK file published from Flash Pro CS 5.5 onto the phone and installed, it of course gave me the message that I needed to install Adobe AIR to run the program.
How can that be "truly a native app?" The same happens in iOS, obviously. Is Flash running in a web browser a "truly native app" in that case? The extra step of making users download the Adobe AIR package makes it all seem so half baked compared to actual native apps. I'm assuming there is no way to package AIR with your app? Not that it's a great alternative, but I can't think of what else would make this situation better.

It appears you may be confusing iOS with Android a little bit. The article you referenced was speaking solely about iOS, not Android. So, yes, they were correct.
Now, there is a new option in AIR 3 that allows you to package your applications WITH the AIR Runtime for Android. This is called "Captive Runtime" and allows you to create applications that do not need to reach out to grab AIR from any marketplace because it is already packaged.
Here is more information on Captive Runtime:
    http://www.tricedesigns.com/2011/08/10/air-3-0-captive-runtime/
Here is how you can set up Flash Pro with AIR3:
    http://www.swfgeek.net/2011/09/26/targeting-flash-player-11-rc1-air-3-rc1-in-flash-profess ional-cs5-5/
Note that if you are using Flash Pro to create an app with AIR 3 you will need actually package the app with the Command Line. The tooling is not yet available in Flash Authoring Environment.
Here is how you can do that:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/iBrent#p/u/6/MRcoJ6ClLqo
it is similar to this, but with slightly different switches. There is more info in the command line help.

  • Adobe Air crashing Win 7 and will not install

My problem began with me trying to do a full system scan on my computer with a few different programs and it failing 5% in. Each program stopped at Adobe
AIR files. So I googled Adobe AIR and noticed that there were viruses running under that name, so I called McAfee and they told me that there was a problem
with Adobe Air. I have tried to uninstall and nothing happens. I have tried to install the latest update and it will say "installing" for a couple of hours with no
progress showing in the line, so with my lack of patience I cancel update and even the CANCELLING window stays up until I use the task manager to close it! At
one point i had my computer tell me that Adobe AIR was corrupt. HELP ME PLEASE!!

For install issues, we always request the corresponding log files. That, plus a host of additional install troubleshooting information, is at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403150.html. Could you please attach the installer's log here.

  • How should an application developer handle Adobe AIR upgrades on Windows and Mac?

    Hi,
My questions concern Windows 7 (and later) and Mac OS X:
Is Adobe AIR upgraded automatically? In other words, by default (if the user does not uncheck something during installation), is there a service/polling mechanism that checks for a new version of Adobe AIR and recommends an update to the user?
What happens if a user has an older version of Adobe AIR installed, and my application requires a more recent Adobe AIR version? Do I, as an application developer, have to do something or is it handled by Adobe AIR automatically?
Have Adobe AIR introduced many backward compatibility issues in the past? Is it possible for a user to have multiple versions of Adobe AIR installed at the same time? Can I, as an application developer, specify that this exact version of Adobe AIR is needed by my application?
If there sometimes are backwards compatibility issues with Adobe AIR. Is there a way for me as an application developer to try out a new version before it is released to the normal users? In other words, is there a way for me to make sure that my application works with the next version of Adobe AIR before it is released by the normal channels to the general user base?
Is there something else which should be taken into consideration when it comes to Adobe AIR upgrades and versioning issues?

Well we would suffer especially much from two of the drawbacks listed at Packaging a captive runtime bundle for desktop computers:
The AIR in-browser API for installing and launching an AIR application from a web page is not supported
AIR update API and framework are not supported
We are using the Air application as a solution for printing, which is invoked using the AIR in-browser API when the user clicks the "Print" button. I would guess the route to make it work with a captive runtime (which was something new to me), which I see as a normal stand alone application, would be to register a specific MIME type with the OS and each Web browser which is handled by our print application. And let a file of our new MIME type contain the information passed in the in-browser invocation at the moment. That would trigger the application when a user clicks Print.
We also use the AIR update API to update our application. Being without it means that we would need to create our own update mechanism.
These two paths to handle the given drawbacks above would mean a lot of work for us. Especially as we want to support both Windows and Mac. It might be worth it if the answers to my questions in the original post indicates that we can expect another type of problems instead.
I am still interested in answers to my original questions. But we will certainly take the captive runtime approach into consideration. As I didn't know about it, I really appreciate your answer!

  • Adobe Acroread 8.1.7 and Linux Debian slow search

Hello, we use stations with Debian and Iceweasel as default browser. The company often uses PDF files, and thus the plug-in version 8.1.7 Acrobat Reader to view these files.
What we have noticed after upgrading from versions prior to 8.1.7 this is an excessive delay in the survey in PDF documents, as we have workstations using Microsoft Windows XP on the same hardware configuration for the same query is made much more effective .
I already redid the installation of Iceweasel and continues with the same problem, someone already went through this same problem? Any idea or suggestion on how to solve this problem?
Is there a patch or update to version 8.1.7? I would not have to perform a downgrade in the version of the plugin, even for security issues.

  • Adobe AIR HTML / Ajax Developement and Android

Just confirming...  I haven't been developing in Flash since the days of Actionscript 2.0.  I've been mostly doing HTML / Ajax dev the past couple of years.  I started playing around with developing apps using HTML and Ajax.  I read in another thread that for Android dev, you have to use flash.  Is this true?  If so, is there any plans to open this up more?  I realize there might be some things that might not translate over, such as the touch interface, but I would really love to create some applications without having to get back into flash or learning Flash Builder.

Joe is correct on the support for HTML & AJAX. If you want to leverage those skills, you are going to have to stick with just using the on device web browser (which should be fairly robust) or look at alternate solutions like PhoneGap or Titanium's Appcelerator.

  • Adobe AIR applications compatible with Android?

As I understand that Adobe Flash is supported on Android 2.1 and 2.2 versions.
But I could not find if Adobe Air applications are also supported. Please let me know what versions are supported since in the system requirements for Adobe AIR only Windows, Mac and Linux were mentioned with no reference to Android as such.
I am new to both Android and Adobe Air so please excuse any misrepresentation in the query.
    Thanks!

AIR is compatible with Android 2.2 on ARMv7 devices.
