Adobe AIR 'damaged'

I'm trying to use DW CS5 (11.0 Build 4964) for Mac OSX 10.5.8 for the first time.
The first thing I did was to go to the 'Help' menu and select 'Dreamweave help' [F1].
I get the following error message:
This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance.
I tried re-installing from the CS5 DVD and get this error message:
This version of Adobe AIR cannot be installed because a more recent version is already installed on your system.
An update was available:
installed: 2.0.12610
update: 2.5.0.16600
I did the update and got the following message:
Installation complete.
Adobe AIR has been successfully installed.
Then went back and selected 'Help' and got the first error message again.
The same error message is dispalyed whichever application I try and use 'Help' in CS5.
Help appreciated! Thank you.

Here are some troubleshooting problems for a problems with the AIR installation.   Hope this helps!

  • Adobe Air Damaged can't uninstall and browser wont run

    Hi,
I am in snowed in on a remote hillside in the Scottish Highlands.
My elderly neighbour - half a mile a way has been having trouble with her computer - I am trying to help her get back online
She is running XP and IE (I believe it is 7 but as you will see this isnt easy to determine)
Her life's work is on the computer (she is a biologist)
Our internet is *very* slow - the best we can get is 0.5Mb/s
The only browser installed on her system is IE, when it starts it immediately fails with the windows message box "Adobe Air - the installation of this application is damaged. try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance" The browser then immediately exits and the computer crashes If you shut it down you then get a blue screen with an IRQL error.
If you dont launch the browser the computer seems to work ok
As there is no other browser on the computer getting a new adobe installer on it is hard
You can't uninstall as the system crashes on uninstall
I have tried going back to an earlier restore point - same problem
I have tried safe mode - same problem
It seems to be running air v 2.0.4.13090
I have searched for adobeairinstaller.exe on the system so I can try a command line uninstall but can't locate it
I think the file must be damaged and so wondered if I might hack the registry to try and stop it loading
I *think* i have backed up all of the data and email but partly due to our slow internet [the windows update process will take several days] and partly due to the fact that she reinstalling some of her apps may prove impossible I *Really* dont want to format and start again
Any help - gratefully received - Please remember there is no working browser so anything that has to be downloaded has to be done here and walked up the hill through the snow on a usb key.
install log (just the most recent section] attached
    Many Thanks
    Tim

    ok I solved it myself
1/ use windows XP built in FTP to download Mozilla firefox from their ftp site
2/ use that to download adobe air latest installer
3/ use command line adobeairinstaller.exe -uninstall
4/ better but ie still not working so go to microsoft download centre (in firefox) and download an ie upgrade and install it
    5/ reinstall air
    job done

  • Adobe Air I get this message: The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged....

Every time I try to install new product through adobe air I get this message: The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author. Kiran Kumar: May I have the product name and version you are referring to? I've looked over the online suggested repair which indicates to search for and delete Adobe Muse but when go looking for it, it doesn't seem to exist. How can I get this resolved?

Finally found a fix on my own....Wasted like 3 hours today. Hope this helps for anyone struggling with that stupid error message:

  • Can't install adobe air installer. Message is its damaged and to install a new one. How do I do that?

I am trying to download a pc caller id. It begins to download and when I hit install I get the message that my installer file is damaged and to install a new one. Does anyone know how I do this? I have adobe air, but it's the installer that's giving me the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Teros

    Hi Terur,
You've landed in the Acrobat.com forum, which I'm not sure is the best place to get your question answered, but I can at least provide a link to the current Adobe Air installer: Adobe - Adobe AIR
I hope that does the trick! If you need an updated installer for the caller ID app that you're trying to install, you would need to download that again from that company's website (Adobe can't help there).
    Best,
    Sara

  • Adobe Air. Damaged installation.

On start up I get a pop up  " The installation of this application is damaged. Try reinstalling etc."  Have tried reinstalling Adobe Air and get the same reply. I have now trawled  through my registery files, deleting all Adobe Air files in order to get a clean installation and have reistalled AA but still get a "Damaged Installation"  Can anyone suggest a solution?

    Hi,
It's hard to determine exactly what is causing that error without knowing what app is causing it.  Since AIR is just a runtime, it by itself isn't the cause of the problem.  I think I'd try a couple of things.
First, I'd initiate an uninstall of AIR via the uninstall programs control panel.  The first thing you'll be presented with is a list of AIR applications that are installed.  Here's what mine displays, note the 3 AIR applications I have installed on this system.  Click cancel once you've written down the list of applications.
Next, launch msconfig and click the "startup" tab.  Examine the list displayed against the list you wrote down earlier to determine if you have an AIR application launching at startup.  If so, uncheck the app in msconfig and click apply.  Reboot and see if the error still occurs.  After resolving the error, I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the offending application.
    Hope this helps,
    Chris

  • I cannot get adobe air to run keep getting error message 'damaged or broken'

Adobe air problems will not run despite several attempts to install and reinstall. Keep getting error messages - file damaged or broken - reinstall or contact Adobe Help

Follow the steps mentioned in the Knowlegdebase article:-

  • Adobe Help Menu stopped working - Adobe Air installation of app is damaged

    Hi,
I've had the CS5 Master Collection installed for a few days and suddenly when trying to use the "Help" Menu in InDesign, it prompted an "Adobe Air" update, and somehow in that process, all my Adobe Help Menus and "Support Center" menus won't work. Now I get an error message that says: Adobe Air: This installation of this application is damaged. Try reinstalling or contacting the publisher for assistance.
Not sure how to fix this. I uninstalled Adobe Air and then reinstalled, but it did nothing. I suspect it's the help/support application that is damaged. How can I fix this? The help menu is very...helpful.
    Thanks!

  • Damaged Adobe Air

When I switch on my laptop this morning it comes up with the
message "this installation of this application is damaged.  Try re-installing or contacting the publisher ofr assistance."
I have tried to uninstal the application to reinstall it and it won't uninstal!  I click on uninstall and it and it then asks for permission which I click ok and then nothing. but if I try to uninstal it again it comes up with the message "Please wait for the current programme is finished uninstalling or being changed."
I have left it for over 5 hours not to continue and still has not uninstalled!  Please help!

I had the same problem. The advice I got from Adobe support (after a three day wait) fixed it.
    1. Windows: Uninstall the previous version of Adobe Help by using the Add or Remove Programs utility
Macintosh: Remove and trash the application from the Applications>Adobe folder
    2. Windows: Delete the following directory: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 (copy and paste the phrase above into the Windows Explorer file manager)
Macintosh: Go Home>Library>Preferences and delete chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 (As it happened I couldn't find this file on my mac, but stage #1 had fixed the problem anyway).
    3. IMPORTANT: Empty the Trash or Recycling Bin to ensure proper removal of all files.
    4. Manually update the application by downloading the Air file from:http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/
    Additional information:
This installation error has been observed under two conditions:
    1. If a user has an older prerelease or beta version of a Creative Suite 5 application previously installed
    2. If a user simultaneously updates the AIR runtime at the same time as updating the Adobe Help application. The Adobe Help application is built and managed using the Adobe AIR framework. Because Adobe AIR has its own installation and uninstallation procedures, Adobe Help application updates are independent of the CS5 installer itself. There is no need to uninstall the entire Creative Suite or any associated product to resolve this issue.

  • My computer says on opening screen 'This copy of Adobe air is damaged

My computer says on opening screen 'This copy of Adobe Air is damaged' I have uninstalled and reinstalled but no effect.

    Hi,
You have mentioned that you uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Air and the error still shows up.
Can you uninstall the application again and then power off and reboot your computer to check if the message shows without the application installed on your system?
This will help us narrow down to the cause of the issue.

  • Adobe AIR installation damaged

I get the 'Adobe AIR application installation damaged' message every time when starting help from any of the applications in CS5. How can I repair this safely to get help working?

I'm running OSX 10.6.8 previously upgraded from 10.5. I also started with CS4 and upgraded to CS5. I do not remember in what order sw where changed if that is of importance. I also remember that the upgrade from CS4 to CS5 left alot of CS4 stuff behind that I later uninstalled to free disk space.
I have had this problem some time but I haven't been i n a hurry to solve the problem until now. The last event I remember related to this was that in the middle of stressed work I rejected an update of the AIR sw with the believe that the update will be available later.
As soon as I start help in say DW I get the message as described above and also the instruction to 'Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance' regarding AIR. What does that mean? As far as I can see the Adobe AIR is not part of the CS5 so it is not covered in the general installation app. There are separate install and unistall apps for AIR and when trying them out the install asks for a package that I have no clue of what it is and the unistall alerts that if I continue other dependent applications will not work. I aborted both tries. I cannot affort a production stop in using the DW & FW at this time.
Finally, I'm not using Adobe AIR as far as I know or mabe I am without knowing it when using DW. It probably just came with CS4 or 5. The help complains and points out AIR as damaged as soon as help starts. The applications in CS5 are running fine as far as I can se.

  • Can Adobe Reader damage MacBook Air?

Can Adobe Reader damage MacBook Air?

Thanks, I have posted a couple of questions that I feel were a little dim and in fact one got a less than nice reply so I suppose I am a little embarresed to ask questions when I read the comments from you experts. But we all have to learn and I am sure you guys were less knowledgeable at the start. Hope for me yet !!!!
I did enjoy your "milk" comment. A nurse spilled a cup of tea on my Air when I was in hospital and the "M" key stopped working. Kept using the computer then suddenly after about a month the key started to work again. Shows these Mac's are tough.
Now that I feel a little more comfortable about asking, can you help with another issue I am having. When I try to download files from the internet they come in a file with everything in what looks to me like code. I therefore don't know how to install them. This is why I asked about Adobe Reader as I uninstalled it on Saturday and today have the download problem. Could A.R be the reason do you think?
Sorry for the long reply and as my wife always says "I talk to much" There I go again

  • Adobe Air package damaged -problem

    Hi!
I packaged my Adobe Air HTML/JavaScript -application with Dreamweaver CS 5.5 AIr Extension. Packaging with homemade signature went without any problems, but installing the application doesn't work. I get the error #1000 during installation. I suspect that problem relates to same bug that has been discussed in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/778613#3405543 (internal bug number 1674848). I thought that the bug has been resolved, but the installation works if I remove large (420MB) sqllite-db-file from package. The package's compressed size is ~ 95MB.
    My developing enviroment:
    Windows 7 x64 (4GB RAM)
    Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5
Latest Adobe Air Extension for Dreamweaver
Latest Adobe Air runtime  / SDK (2.7; I have also tried building from command line with same results)
Is the bug still there or should I try something else?

The only idea that comes to mind is to keep the file on the dvd, then have your app install (copy) it on first launch.
Thanks for adding the bug.  For others affected by this, please visit the bug and add your vote.  All feedback is appreciated!

    Hi,
I'm assuming your having troubles installing the 2.0.3 runtime?  If so, can you please try the instructions in this post?
    Thanks,
