Adobe AIR help; question regarding search criteria with multibyte characters

Hi,
I created Adobe AIR application with Robohelp 9 (using FM 10 files as source, and texts are written in Japanese and English),
and happend to find that search function in AIR application doesn't catch keywords correctly.
For example,
1. If you type "文字" and "スタイル" with single byte space in search window, the result appears for both "文字" and "スタイル".
2. If you type "文字" and "スタイル" with double byte space in search window, the result doesn't match for anything.
3. If you type "文字スタイル" (in one word) in search window, the result doesn't match for anything.
Same thing happens for the case "文字種" (literally, "文字"+"種", the meaning is almost the same).
But, if you type search words which is all in Katakana, the result seems to be fine.
Is there any limitation for multibyte characters support? Or, this behaviour is a feature??
If so, how can make AIR application "hit" correct words?
Thank you very much for your kind help in advance!

On this one your best course of action is to contact Adobe Support. They will likely require your project and there is one thing I would suggest you do first. Create a new project with just a few topics to prove the problem exists there as well. If it does it will be a simpler upload and you will know the problem is repeatable.

  • Update Adobe AIR help content without necessity of installation for users???

    Hello there,
    I want to make our manuals available as Adobe AIR help applications. Unfortunately for our users it is not possible to regularly install these applications. Therefore I decided to generate a help viewer as AIR file and help content as RHA file ("help content only" ssl option). So admins only once have to install an initial AIR file. Afterwards users are able to replace help content to update help files.
    I proceeded in a similar way as described here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2010/07/merging_multiple_helps_in_air_help_output.html
    In principle this is a good solution - but here is my problem:
    Help content itself already consists of different projects (merged projects). Merged projects unfortunately cannot be generated with "help content only" ssl option.
    Anyone has got an idea how to satisfy all my conditions:
    - Customers only once have to install an AIR file
    - Afterwards help content can be updated by replacing files (without installation)
    - Help content itself contains merged projects .
    Generate different outputs (RHA files) for the merged projects is not a possibility. The merged projects with regard to content belong to ONE single manual - I'm not talking about different manuals. So users should be able to search the whole manual and so on ...).
    Thank you so much in anticipation!
    Melanie

    It has always irritated me that the blog you refer to uses the term "merged help". It is not merged help, it is simply a collection of outputs where the user can select the one they want.
    My site does have instructions for a true merged AIR Help output but that will not achieve your objective of one install. Sorry but I don't think what you want can be achieved.

    The method is the same for Rh10.

  • Encrypting Adobe Air Help

    Two questions:
    1. Is there a way to encrypt (password protect) an Adobe Air Help so that a user cannot download and access the Help file outside of the application? The application data files are encrypted, and I need to encrypt the Help file (if possible).
    2. Is there a way to remove the Print icon from the Adobe Air Help file?

    Hi there
    Adobe and Microsoft are similar in this respect. Indeed, the help viewer they use is AIR based, but it's a far cry from what we are able to use ourselves. Theirs is customized in different ways. And after all, as they are the ones that created the format, it's within their realm to easily create something unique to them. Microsoft is similar with their Office Help.
    I suspect there is no print icon becuase Community help trawls through many things that aren't part of Adobe. Other blogs and web sites. So if you had an icon that allowed you to print all, there would be no telling how many reams of paper and ink refills you may need to complete the job. What Adobe did was to insert a link to a PDF that is intended for your printing pleasure.
    After seeing this post I excitedly opened my RoboHelp 9. I recalled that Adobe had added an AIR Help Skin editor and that we could also customize the icons. Sadly, it appears that we are unable to pick and choose items like the Print icon. However, a thought occurred to me on this. They do allow you to choose different icons if you like. My thought was that perhaps you could create a super tiny totally transparent icon and use it for the print. If that happened, the only way printing would be discovered would be if someone randomly happened to click the hidden spot. Not sure if that's an option for you.

  • Is there a minimum width to Adobe AIR Help output?

    Good day!
    I am trying to produce an Adobe AIR Help document which is 256x768 pixels in size; this document is to be displayed on the left of the screen and use only a quarter of the Desktop real estate.
    When I produce an Adobe AIR Help file using these dimensions, the document is always too wide. Furthermore, I cannot manually adjust it to be more narrow.
    I would like to produce a Help document which is similar to Adobe's "Self Test Drive" environment for customer prospects to experience Adobe product. My company is doing a very similar project.
    Why is it that Adobe AIR Help output doesn't export at this size? Furthermore, are there any adjustments to any files I can make to allow this?
    Thank you for your help, in advance!  Have a great day!
    Most sincerely,
    Sammy Spencer

  • Adobe AIR installation questions

    Hi all,
    I'm looking into the possibility of distributing an application with Adobe AIR and I've a few questions about the Adobe AIR installation process. Just to give you some background on the situation I'm in - if a user wants to use the service I'm working on, they need to install a binary application on their computer. We've a web site which communicates with this binary application. As the user as to install the binary application to begin with, we're beginning to look at AIR as a possible alternative to distributing the web content through a browser.
    1. Adobe AIR installation requests that the user enters their computer password. Is there any way to retrieve this password from a separate installer? The binary application that we ask our users to install asks the user for their password and it would be nice to not ask the user to enter their password twice. Are there any possibilities for sharing this password between our binary application and the Adobe AIR installer?
    2. If I sign up as a re-distributer of AIR, is the Adobe EULA which is displayed at the start of installation still necessary? I'm already displaying one EULA (with the binary application) and I'd prefer not to have to display two.
    3. I'm assuming that there is no way to specify the directory into which I'd like the Adobe AIR runtime to be placed - can you confirm that Adobe AIR is always installed in the /Applications folder on mac and c:/Program Files on Windows?
    This question goes out to Adobe AIR developers - If you have distributed your application with Adobe AIR, have you ever stumbled across the situation where a user has uninstalled the Adobe AIR runtime (either intentionally or unintentionally) and you are now left in a situation where a user cannot access your services because Adobe AIR is not installed on their computer. If so, are you aware of any usable fallbacks other than to tell customers that they have to have Adobe AIR installed to run the application?
    Thanks
    Sean

    1:  We are working on a method to use a local socket to communicate with an installed c# application on the users machine.  The situation is very similar, however we store credentials encrypted and accessible to the installed binary.  If those credentials do not exist the AIR app requests the user to input them and they are sent to the binary.  These credentials are stored either per session, daily or forever per the user's preferences.  We use this method to let AIR be the front end it was designed to be and leave all the heavy lifting OS / processor wise to the binary.  Unsure if this would help but you can read a bit more on using local sockets here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappshtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7caf. html
    2:  The EULA is still required as the End User has to accept it.  If there's a way around that, I'm not aware.
    3:  The installation directory can be changed by the user unless you are performing silent installs (available when you sign a redistribution agreement).  I don't recommend relying on the installation directory never changing.
    Try using nativePath to determine where your program location is: (javascript)
    //application directory
    var file = air.File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("testfile.html");
    air.trace(file.nativePath);
    //application storage directory
    var file = air.File.applicationStorageDirectory.resolvePath("testfile.html");
    air.trace(file.nativePath);
    4:  I've faced the problem where the AIR runtime is not available, but we always fall back on the badge there.  For what it's worth it's pretty handy at detecting requirements and getting them to the user.
    hope that helps

  • Flash, Adobe Air, Time Machine, Safari not  working with Snow Leopard

    Really need some help with this.
    Did an archive and install of Leopard then installed Snow Leopard. No problems yet.
    90% of Video sites would not work. Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. Uninstalled ShockWave, could not reinstall with 10.6.1.
    Attempt to install adobe air, received this message: "couldn't write the application to hard drive - please verify and try again." performed verify disk, disk permissions, repair permissions all ok.
    Attempted to install Air again, same message.
    Tried to use Time Machine to open Safari from a week ago, received message: I did not have permission.
    Using Macbook Pro, 2g memory, 80g hd, with 42g free.
    Backed up on ext. HD,
    Oh, one more, getting a lot of spinning wheels when using Safari that causes a lockup and hard re-start.
    I have an expensive piece of software that uses adobe air and I create videos for my business and I'm not able to do so now.
    Can anyone give me any ideas what I can do.
    Thanks,
    Z

    After a couple of days of problems with Snow Leopard and flash, safari etc... I figured out the problem is with my account.
    I created a new admin account and everything seems to be working. Well almost.
    a couple of things I've noticed are right clicking on dock icons does nothing, no option to quit or keep in dock.
    Apple Techs', had me change my account months ago to fix a problem with safari crashing. It didn't really work and more problems resulted.
    *So now my big question is: How do I move need items over to the new account.* I don't want to move everything over as I might bring what caused the problem in the first place.
    What I need are several apps,(like ilife, iwork, firefox, devonthink, 1password etc.) downloads, desktop, docs, files, and book marks.
    *What is the best way for me to do this?* Is there anything I need to do re: Snow Leopard on the new account?
    I feel like I have a new and functioning Mac again just around the corner.
    Looking for your help, thanks,

  • Interdependent Search Criteria with FPM Search GUIBB

    Hello everyone,
    I have the requirement to implement a FPM Search GUIBB where some search criteria are interdependent on each other. I will explain this with an example:
    We have two search criteria, "Country" and "City". All possible values of "Country" are shown in a drop down list box. When a value in that drop down list box is selected, the other drop down list box of possible cities should only show those values which fit to the selected country. So, when I select “Germany” the second drop down list box should only show Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich. When I select Spain it should only show Barcelona and Madrid, etc.
    I already found out, that something similar is possible with OVS Value Helps. Nevertheless, I would prefer to find a solution with drop down list boxes.
    Thanks in advance for your advices!

    Hi SF,
    As you said, It is actually a look-up field on the main catalog table.
    It will visible in MDM data Manager Drill down search if and only if you set Property Search Tab as Yes for field in main table which is look up to some sub table using MDM Console.
    Once you done , you will see this field as well in Drill down search and can pick more than one value using CTRL key.
    Other alternative i would suggest you is that, if you have any field of type text is blank in you main table say FIELDGA. Populate this field against the records who has USAGE = Group A using assignment.
    So, in this way you would have two fields in Free Form Search criteria, select value Group A from field FIELDGA in search selection and using original field USAGE select GROUP B. In this way u can achieve this.
    Better to go with property Search Tab = Yes for that lookup field in main table using MDM console.
    Kindly revert with the result.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mandeep Saini

  • Customising Adobe AIR Help

    RH 8 HTML.
    Is it possible to customise the output of an Air help file?
    I want to do a few things:
    Set the column width of the TOC so it is wider
    Change color schemes if possible
    Make my title page appear when first opened - but not be a topic (in the same way the RH8 help file does it)
    Remove the 'pop up' that comes when I hover over a topic, the title pops out above itself, it just looks strange and I dont like it.
    Set an indent on the text displayed in topics so it is further from the column that seperates the TOC and topics. I tried to do this with a master page but it didn't work with AIR.
    Also, is there anywhere to get more AIR skins??
    Thanks.

    Hi I followed all of these instructions and it's still a no go:
    Using Finder, navigate to your Applications folder and look for a file (not a folder) named "Adobe".  If one exists, rename or delete it.
         Open the Terminal application in your Applications/Utilities folder.  Run the following commands:

    2
    3
    4
    sudo chmod -R ug=rwx,o=rx /Applications/Adobe
    sudo chmod -R ug=rwx,o=rx ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/
    sudo chmod -R ug=rwx,o=rx ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/AIR/
    sudo chmod -R ug=rwx,o=rx /Users/Shared/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/
    Next, adjust the ownership of a particular folder. Run the following two commands in Terminal, noting the user name response of the "whoami" command.  Replace username with your username in the next command:
         whoami
         sudo chown -R username:staff ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/AIR/
    Close the Terminal application and rerun the Adobe AIR  installer.
    I am still getting the same ERROR message.
    My Adobe log file is ridiculously long.

    Can you post the last bit of your log file?  100 or so lines should be plenty to see what's going wrong.

  • Adobe Air Deployment Questions

    I'm working on a commercial application.  This application gets sold to customers, then deployed by various customers on whatever server they would like.  It's a java backend flex front end.  That said, for the web-app, since the swf file is housed in an application server within the same context/webroot as the server-side code, I can use relative url's.
    For example, I can reference everything through /application/servlet/fun versus a full url http://10.0.0.0:808/application/servlet/fun.
    This is a huge advantage for a web app because I can sell my product and they can deploy it wherever they want without me having to recompile or anything like that to account for new URLs.
    Is there a way to do something similar with Adobe Air?  I would like the use the Air environment for my next iteration of the app if possible because it gives added screen space (cuts out a lot of the browser stuff).
    Currently, I put all my url's in .properties files.  So, I would have a property like this:
    MAIN_SERVLET=/application/servlet/fun (for example)
    I could still have a concept like this, but how does a desktop app know the relative url path to the application server?  Thus, I don't think you can use relative urls.
    Please guide me in the right direction.  I've been googling this all morning trying to understand the deployment process but I've found the documentation to be lacking.
    Thanks!
    Dan

    This seems like a totally reasonable thing to do and seems like the path I will take.
    Hi – I’m confused as to how this works.
    I’ve followed this tutorial http://www.davidtucker.net/2008/01/10/air-tip-5-passing-arguments-to-an-application-on-ins tall/comment-page-1/#comment-3720
    yet the BrowserInvokeEvent does not seem to be invoked.  This is the application compiled into the .air app.  On the preInitialize event, I do the following code:
    private function initResources():void{
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(BrowserInvokeEvent.BROWSER_INVOKE, onInvokeEvent);
    Swiz.loadBeans( [Beans] );
    As you can see, I subscribe to the event and prepare my swiz framework beans.  That’s all.
    Having said that, the listener is never called. I have the following code in place to debug and see what data I’d be receiving from the flashvars.
    private function onInvokeEvent(invocation:BrowserInvokeEvent):void {
    Alert.show(”BrowserInvokeEvent handler”);
    var arguments:Array = invocation.arguments;
    for each ( var object in arguments ){
    Alert.show(”argument is ” + object + ” or ” + object.data );
    Am I missing a step such as recompiling the Badge.swf with the new contents of AIRBadge.as ?
    Thanks in advance, I’m very stumped by this.  Any guidance will be appreciated.

  • Does Adobe Air support mixing 14 audio tracks with different timings with no latency?

    We are looking to port our iPhone application to Adobe Air and wanted to see if this is even feasible
    See an app demo here: http://vimeo.com/5737825

    What platforms? On Android there is or was a bug with audio latency that would interfere with your goals. The bug is in the Android OS IIRC. If you want to contact me offlist I can put together an AIR project to test mixing as many tracks as you'd like and include buttons to trigger them (source included).

  • Regarding Search Criteria

    Hi All we are using FAST ESP 5.3.1 version can some one let me know whether "/" character is allowed in the search criteria.

    Raghu,
    ESP does not  index punctuation characterssuch as  # % & ' + , - / ; < = > @ [ \ ] _ ` { | } ~ ( ) ^ $ ! “ :
    2. These characters # % & ' + , - / ; < = > @ [ \ ] _ ` { | } ~ are either stripped out or if they are joining two words (no white space) turn the words into a phrase.
    However , if you want to index "/", yo can modify the tokenization file(%FASTSEARCH%\etc\tokenizer\tokenization.xml)  to allow the character to be indexed.
