Adobe AIR Output using Unipane Template - Problem in Publishing

Hi,
I have created new Adobe AIR browser based help using the Unipane template. When I generate the output, I specify a folder path in the Start Page field and click Finish. I can see the output excatly I have prepared when I select the first topic in the same folder.
But the problem is when I copy the folder and paste in the new location and click the first topic, it shows the template only, my content is missing. Because of this I could not send my output to the client.
If any one please guide me What should I do? I have prepared an entire Help system but now I could not send it to client. Please guide me.

I have created a help system using the Unipane template of Adobe AIR feature and when I open the first topic of the help locally in my system, it displays with the skin I have selected when initially generated. But when I try to host the help in the Internet using IIS Mgr, the help open with the default skin 'Black Pearl' with a default message at the bottom 'Powered by Robohelp' eventhough I have used the skin 'Aqua Grey'. I have also replaced the message with my client name, still it opens with the same message. The probelem arise when I try to host the help system, but locally in my system it works fine.
Mr.Peter Grainge told me that this issue was raised already and it got answered. I have searched Adobe AIR forum for a day long, but I could not locate the answer.
If anyone can help me to solve this, I have to deliver it to the client who repeately ask me about the Help system.
Please anyone guide me to correct this.

I've tried to use hierarchy node variables, but it seems like you can't specify a attribute of the hierarchy such as level. So with the WBS hierarchy, if you create a hierarchy node variable, you specify the WBS value to select (If I understand this correctly). I wish I could instead specify "give me all the WBS nodes that happen to have the value of the level attribute greater or equal to 3. If I understand Juergens post, he is saying make security access so that only certain WBS levels can be returned in the query. I suppose we can try that, but that would then preclude getting the level 1 and 2 in the future if the authorization is global.

Installing Adobe AIR Apps using Microsoft SMS

I am a developer working on an AIR application which will be
pushed out using Microsoft's SMS. According to Adobe's "AIR Admin
Guide" documentation, it is possible to "Silently install the Adobe
AIR runtime using tools such as Microsoft SMS, IBM Tivoli, or any
deployment tool that allows silent installations that use a
bootstrapper". The IT admin overseeing the installation says that
he has examined SMS 2003 and SES 2007 and there are only options
for MSI’s and EXE. How can .AIR applications be pushed out
for installation through SMS?

Problem with NetConnection in Adobe AIR(Flex) using Flash Media Server.

I am creating a small chat application using Flash Media server. I have already created all my user interface components in Flex(Adobe AIR).In this application rather than sending text messages user can also send file to another user in his friend list.
problem what i am facing is, when i am sending file through FMS most of time it send successfully but for some files while sending application loss netconnection.
so i would like to know, rather than closing application what are other condition when FMS loses network connection?

Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
directory, or renaming it.
Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032:
Stream Error.

Are you installing AIR installer or running Installer. If your running it make sure you click on the AIR Install package file, not just using installer. Im not really sure what you can do.

Adobe AIR apk for android having problem when running in tablet

Already we know AIR having problem when running on some tablet,shows black color for some time after clicking icon and rendering process also very slow mean while game performance is too low and stage frame rate also reduced not 24 fps.

I don't know how your application is structured, but if you can split sections off into separate SWFs(plain AS3 document) then you could host those section SWFs online and require the user to download them on first run.
You could use the FileReference object to download the SWFs, save them to the File.applicationStorageDirectory, and then display/load them up with the Loader object when needed from the app storage directory. You would possibly need to check to see if the files are present at every boot of the app though as a user could "Clear Data" or "Clear Cache" of the app in the Settings of their device and one or both of those could/would delete the downloaded files.

Adobe Air Installer has encountered a problem and has to close....

Every time I try to view a BBC TV program on-line via my IE8 browser + flash10, I get the subject error box repeatedly with the invitation to send a report to Microsoft. It looks as if I have Adobe Air installed (it's in the Add/Remove Programs list in my WinXP+SP3) but I get the same error box if I try to uninstall it or if I try to install the latest version over the top of it. I tried Microsoft's msicuu Cleanup Utility, and that removed AIR from it's own list of programs but AIR is still listed in Add/Remove Programs, and still will not uninstall. However I now get a different error box which says the application requires a version of Adobe AIR which is no longer supported. I tried creating an install log, but nothing gets written to it. I tried running "..installer.exe -uninstall" from a commandline. Same thing. I don't know how to make Adobe AIR go away. I can neither remove it nor install it. I don't think I need it anyway. Can anyone help please? Does anyone at Adobe ever check this forum?

How to Play/Pause All for Adobe Air Application using AS3 in Flash CS4?

I am new to Flash and I'm creating an educational application in AS3 in Flash CS4 for Adobe Air. I want to use buttons to play and pause all content (movieclips AND sound).
I have created play and pause buttons that worked by switching the frame rate between 0 and 20, unfortunately I've realised that it's never really 0fps but rather 0.01fps and so it continues playing, albeit very very slowly. Also this doesn't affect the audio; I have set sound files to Stream which are synced to movieclips on their timelines, but even when the application is set to 0fps the audio continues.
Since I have various levels with numerous movieclips each with synced audio, what i'd like is to be able to do is pause absolutely everything within each movieclip with one button and to be able to resume from the same place using another button. Is this possible? If not, is there a global function to pause/resume the entire application/program?

Its possible but you would need to tell each movieclip and audioclip to play/pause. You can create a for loop inside your mouse event function to find each movieclip and pause/play its timeline and a separate for loop for audio clips. Also instead of setting fame rate to 0 for pause just use a stop() command.

Flash CC 2014 publishing Adobe AIR 17 - use captive or shared runtime?

I developed an app using Flash CC 2014, In IOS I had to upgrade to the builder and I got the function to work, but now I have the same app and need to develop for Android. I created a separate fla and did the following
Used Android 17.0.0.96
added the general info
created the p12 now I have the option to choose captive or shared runtime. I get warnings about each when I publish so I have to publish this app to GooglePlay and need to know the procedure as I'm on a Mac and I see procedures involving code when doing this on a windows machine.
Can someone help me out here?

I would recommend to use "Captive".
Difference is pretty simple...
Shared Basically means that it compiles the "apk" without the Adobe AIR runtime, resulting in a smaller file size apk but REQUIRES users to have the "Adobe AIR App" installed.
Captive means that it compiles the "apk" with the Adobe AIR runtime, resulting in a larger file size apk but DOES NOT REQUIRE users to have the "Adobe AIR App" installed.
If you want to Guarantee everyone can run your app, use captive. If you want to rely on users to hope the have the correct version of AIR installed to view your app, use Shared.

Books on Adobe Air development using HTML/JavaScript

Hi,
I always been of the opinion that one of the signs of a healthy, viable technology is the availability of books and manuals (not just articles or short tutorials online) on how to use said technology. I'm interested in Adobe AIR development for Dekstops/Tablets but I have not been able to find any new books on the topic. Most of the existing books seems to date from 2008 and are targeted towards AIR 1.0-1.5, while the latest version of Adobe Air apparently is 3.5+. So my question is - Where are all the books?

Why don't you post some of the relevant lines for your application?
Makes hard to guess what the issue is otherwise.
The first line of your matching app file (<appname>-app.mxml) must have the same matching air sdk version as in...
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">
The version number if that same file must match the versionNumber in your update file, as in
<versionNumber>0.0.4</versionNumber>
Compile it and distribute it to the url specified in your update xml file

Commerical adobe air application built using Robohelp - thoughts on software protection

Hello Forum,
I am in the process of building a commerical software application - a niche business methodology (processes, tools, templates) - and for which I naturally want to apply *some* level of protection against unauthorized copying. The two main requirements I have are:
1. That the software package itself cannot be installed any number of times on any number of machines (as is currently the case with the adobe air output for distribution).
2. That large chunks of the content cannot be copied and pasted
Here is where my thoughts are so far:
1. There are a number of third party providers in this space. The ones i have idenftifed so far are: LimeLM, NitroLM, Excel Software's AirLicense and Zarqon. There is also something called Sharify out there but from the site and lack of developer response I think this is now dormant. All of these provide a means of locking down one license to one device but that can be transferred if the user loses and changes their device. Has anyone had any experience of these or other solution providers?
2. As I understand it there is html code that can be added to disable copy and paste. Does anyone know what this is? Does anyone know how to apply it?
Finally: we are a small start up without in-house technical skills. This was a major reason we chose RoboHelp as a solution - it meant that the software could be build by us, the subject matter experts who were creating the content. Does anyone know of a good place to crowd-source the technical skill set required to apply both the solutions to 1 and 2 described above?
We are using RoboHelp 9 with Adobe Air desktop application output.

Perhaps it's time to take stock of the requirement, what has been established and your options given where you are.
Requirements
You want protection against multiple installs.
You don't want users to be able to copy and paste the content.
Established
Neither of those are built in to AIR Help.
To build them in you would have to create your own AIR application as the RoboHelp code for creating the AIR installer is locked down. Confirmed by Scott Prentice on HATT.
You do not have an house AIR developer.
Options
Tackling Requirement 1 is going to require a developer to replicate what Adobe have done and add the extra requirement that the installer can only run once.
Given the hours that Adobe put into this and with the resources at their disposal, I have to question the commercial viability of that.
A customer could legitimately need to reinstall, for instance in the case of a hard drive failure.
Perhaps my earlier suggestion of finding someone who can wrap up the AIR file in something that deletes it after installation, thereby preventing a second installation, would be viable. You would need to investigate that and do it in a way the customer can get a fresh download where a further installation is legitimate.
Otherwise I think you need to be looking at a very different approach. Your problem is the same one that Adobe face. You will recall that when you installed RoboHelp you had to activate it. That authorises the use of RoboHelp on a specific machine. The licence authorises installation on a second machine and that has to be activated too. Attempt a third activation and you will get a polite refusal until you deactivate an earlier installation. What you need is a commercial organisation to supply your product in a similar way. The trouble there is your product is not an application in the same way as RoboHelp.
You could use the WebHelp output and apply password protection to your site but again you are going to require development skills. Even then, you are relying on your customers not to reveal the password and that sounds like a No No as you don't trust them not to copy and paste the information.
Copy and paste is difficult to prevent. There are tools for web sites that would likely work in webhelp but you also have to prevent screenshots being permitted. Ultimately, going to state secret espionage levels, how do you prevent someone taking a photo of the screen? It's more about making it difficult to do casually rather than making it impossible. A high brick wall around your house makes entry difficult and deters most from attempting entry, it does not make it impossible.
I am sorry this is all negative but the root problem is your approach was wrong given these requirements. Unless someone else has other ideas, I think you need some commercial consultancy for information on how to get this idea off the ground and that is way beyond what this forum offers. Perhaps you could approach Scott Prentice at http://www.leximation.com for such assistance but I think it would be on a fee paying basis. Scott is a very knowledgeable person in many areas and he is very approachable.

Adobe AIR EncryptedLocalStore Problems

Encrypted local store doesn't function once an application is installed on my machine. I've been having problems on this computer with encryptedlocalstore, so I setup a basic test program.
Things work fine when run from adl, but do not function when run normally. If I run adl on the installed application from inside the .app/Contents/Resources folder the application works fine, but when run normally it fails.
I've tried deleting my entire ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS folder but to no avail. I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Air 2.5.1 and still ELS fails. The folder for the Application is created within the ELS folder, but none of the calls to ELS function, and throw an error with the message "general internal error". There is no stack trace attached to the error messages.
I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.6 I'm using Flex sdk 4.5.0.19786, if that might have an affect.
Any ideas?

We've actually had a problem identical to this many many times.
It only seems to happen for us on Mac OSX 10.6 w/ Firewall enabled. It doesn't seem to happen when the firewall isn't enabled.
It also has nothing to do with case sensitivity - we have never changed our application ID.
It seems to happen after an upgrade occasionally - but not consistently. Once it happens, here are the steps we've taken to resolve it.
(P.S. would love to see Adobe weigh in on this one - it happened on our CEO's machine just last night!)

Fixing Mac EncryptedLocalStore database access error
This error is caused when the application is updated and the cached data stored in the /var/db/DeferredSignature file is out of date with the newly updated signature of the application. It seems that Adobe AIR actually iterates through this file looking for a matching signature. For some reason it stops (likely a bug) and no longer continues generating the appropriate Mac keychain to store the ELS key information.
To work around this problem you need to perform the following operations:
Cleanup the application data by deleting the data in
~/Library/Application SupportAdobe/AIR/ELS/XYZApplication
~/Library/Preferences/XYZApplication
Delete the Adobe AIR keychain using the Keychain Access application on the Mac.
In the Keychains window you should see a Keychan called PrivateEncryptedDatak - right click on it and select Delete.
If the Keychain does not get removed from the list exit and restart Keychain Access.
If the PrivateEncryptedDatak keychain is still visible select the Keychain Access menu and the Keychain First Aid menu item. In the popup enter an administrator username/password, select Repair and hit start. The keychain should now be gone.
Okay, now the fun part. You need to start a terminal up - this will open up a shell window
If you are not logged in as an administrator you need to change the user this terminal is logged in as via the 'su' command by typing 'su - username' where username is the user you want to login as.
sudo rm /var/db/DetachedSignatures
That's it - you should now have everything cleaned up and can try re-installing the application (if the new version is already installed you probably can simply launch it now).
