Adobe Air Permission File Failure
adobe air update is asking for a permission file that I have no idea is I cannot run my Paid Pandora desktop app
I don't quite understand. Do I have to post my question again in air installation forum. Or are you telling me it's been moved to the correct forum. I thought I did put my question in that forum. Please explain, I'm new here.

I am trying to download caller id on my pc. This download needs the adobe air installation file in order for it to download.
I have adobe air, but when I download for the caller id to be installed I get this error message; "Application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try to obtain a new installer from the application author". I noticed on the forum that a few members are having the same problem. If it has been solved, please pass it on to me.
Just an afterthought, I have Comcast triple play which includes the pc caller id. Comcast does not repair computers, therefore I'm hoping this forum can help me.
Thank you,

Adobe air installation / uninstallation failure on windows 7 / 32bit
My air version is 3.0.0.4080 as noted in below.
It does not work on update to new version, and also on uninstallation.
I have revies so many other posts on various websites.
msiexec /unregister
msiexec /regserver
And also above solution did not work at all.
Please give me a new, fancy solution.
I hope so.

[2011-12-13:05:10:44] Runtime Installer end with exit code 7I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR. Microsoft has just released a new utility that can help resolve installation problems. Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you? When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system. Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.

Adobe air swf file error in browser
my fla file setting
version: adobe air 1.0 actionscript 3.0
i able to compile without problem and when i load the swf file in browser, if my actionscript included this line "import flash.filesystem.File". My flash just show up "blank" . no error in flashlog. if i removed this line, my swf file able to run. what is wrong?
p/s: i embeded the air app as swf and open with browserYou can't load SWFs published for AIR in a browser. The Flash plug-in does not recognize the extra AIR APIs like File.
AIR SWFs can only be used as part of an AIR application. -
Adobe AIR (Flex) File Transfer
Hi, my name is Jan, student Informatica in Holland.
For a school project, I need to create a download manager,
and because adobe air is new I thougt, why don't give it a try in
this enviroment.
Only there is one slight problem, I don's have any clue how
to set up such a thing. If someone knows where to find a clear
tutorial about this, or something, i would be very greatfull.

Hi,
I tried to install an update for adobe air 11 yesterday, at the end of the process I got the message "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
After I click close, Windows Program Compatability Assistant opens saying "This program might not have installed correctly" and offers to "Reinstall using recommended settings".
When I click on "Reinstall using recommended settings", the same message comes up about the error and contact the administrator.
I use Google chrome and FileHippo update checker, I have also uninstalled the version of adobe air that was on my computer in the hope I could install the current version but unfortunately the error message is all I get.
If you need any further information I will be happy to help, although I have forgotten how to do a screenshot.
Regards,
Helen Smith.A reply to myself! Thanks to Adobe support I needed to update the Adobe Applications Manager to the Creative Cloud App which so far appears to have fixed the problem

Adobe AIR application file types
Hello everyone,
I dont know how to go about this but i was wondering how possible it is to create an application with its own filetype using the AIR application descriptor xml file in such a way that everytime a file is created from that Air App, it takes the icon of the application. I kmow this is posssible beccause i have tried it. What is even cooler is the fact that everytime you click on that file, you AIR app automatically starts. But the Real Question is how do you start the App with you file loaded.
In my case i'm writtting an app in which you can create or load an SQLLite database file with a custom file type. Its an inventory manager which you can load databases which contain inventory information u previously stored or create a new database file to store your new inventory information. How do i Click an already existing database file so that the application loads with that database...
Anyone done something similar? No thanks Guys, i figured how to load those files...all i had to do was to provide an implemention for the application's invoke event. the files clicked can be accessed by the event object's argument property which is an array so if you selected a file, the native path of the file can be accessed using event.arguments[0]
I hope this information is valuable to anyone who needs a similar functionality! -
This is what comes up when I am trying to install Adobe AIR on my Mac OS 10.8.5 with Cricut Craft Room in the terminal.
Hi Chris,
I've been reading and trying everything! Ok so this is what I had on my Mac:
Bamboo
Core Essentials Painter 4
Cricut Craft room
* will be adding Adobe Photoshop Essentials 11 next month also.
When I tried install the Cricut Sync (to sync my Gypsy to the Mac) that's when it asked for Adobe AIR installation. I can see the AIR installer in my applications/utilities, but it will not let me run the program.
Here is the installer log:

Cannot update, uninstall or install Adobe AIR
I have a particularly puzzling problem.
AdobeAIR has never allowed me to update it. Ever. I have received countless notifications over the years, but everytime I clicked update, I received an error message. The version I have is 3.7.0.2090. I have attempted updating it to 16.0.0.273 all day. I continually receive this message:
"An error occurred while installing Adobe Air. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have downloaded the latest version and selected "run as administrator". That didn't work. I tried creating a new administrator account on my pc and then selected "run as administrator" using that account. All to no avail.
I figured I might uninstall the version I have, so opened control panel (I'm running Windows 7, btw) and looked for the application in the Programmes list to uninstall it. However, the app was not listed. Anywhere.
I then found, in these forums, someone had a problem with updating and/or uninstalling and attempted a manual removal of some register keys. So following their instruction, I did that. However the issues and error messages remain unchanged.
I am at a complete loss. I cannot uninstall an app that doesn't exist. But I can't update the version I supposedly have.
Any help with this troubling issue would be most welcome.
Kind regards and desperate pleas...
podge
Edit: I have also tried repairing this problem using MicrosoftFixIt. That did not help.

Message was edited by: podgemonPlease share the exact error message which you are getting while running the application? My guess is an appropriate Adobe AIR version is required for running this application. You can use the documentation http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/troubleshoot-air-installation-windows.html and use the check the determine the version of Adobe AIR on your computer.

RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR (BETA)
It is so exciting. It been just a few months since we
released Adobe RoboHelp 7 and a brand new Technical Communication
Suite, and today we are ready to share with you guys what we
perceive as the future of Online Help. All I can say is that Time
flies like an arrow. With this, I welcome you all to this new world
of Web 2.0 and the future of Online Help - check out the Public
Beta of
RoboHelp
Packager for Adobe AIR
The tool is available for Free of Cost and can be used by
customers who have either Adobe RoboHelp 6 or Adobe RoboHelp 7 or
the Technical Communication Suite.
The RoboHelp Packager for Adobe® AIR™ allows you
to convert your existing WebHelp files generated using Adobe
RoboHelp® to an Adobe AIR application. Help and knowledge
bases delivered as Adobe AIR application will have a consistent
look and feel across all platforms.
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR can:
Generate a single distributable file
similar to a .chm file.
Provide a variety of skins from which a user can choose from.
In addition, for any skin a user can choose different themes, which
control the look and feel in terms of colors and button/icons
images.
Provide a consistent look and feel on all platforms and
operating systems.
Enable you to comment, in addition to using other advanced
features such as Breadcrumbs, Mini TOC and Security (Digital
Signatures).
The output generated after running this tool is an .air file.
This is a single file that has built-in logic to install itself.
The same file can be installed on any platform that has Adobe®
AIR installed. Installing the Adobe AIR runtime is as seamless as
installing the Adobe Flash® Player for your browsers.
Another important aspect of the Adobe AIR installer file is
that it is a single file that contains all of the information
regarding the look and feel of the Help along with the content. It
is one package with no separate viewer required.
To read more about the benefits of packaging your help as
.air file, please visit the following link:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/robohelp/aboutoutput.htmlWhen you are comparing this to Flash, does this comparison
extend to the requirement for each end user to install the Air
runtime on their PCs before they can access our RoboHelp system?
And that they will also get reminders to update to the latest
version of Air runtime? -
Adobe AIR won't install - Windows 7 Ultimate x64
"Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Well, I asked myself and verified that I am allowed to install any programs I wish to at will.
I even toyed with adding extra permissions for the .exe and shortcut [see below], to no avail.
I also checked your Adobe AIR installation troubleshooter section before posting. Unfortunately, none of the solutions 100% applied to my circumstances or OS, yet I tried a few anyway and had it confirmed by a Windows dialogue that I need not have bothered as it assured me that they weren't applicable in my case.
I found another thread like mine where somebody suggested creating a shortcut with an additional -uninstall parameter added to the .exe path. It didn't work.
I used Microsoft's Installation Cleanup Utility and that didn't work to "un-confuse" the installer either.
Do you have any more suggestions?
Adobe AIR came with the HTC Sync program for my phone, which appears to have dependencies on it where it won't completely work without it.
Thanks in advance for any input.
ps. I created a new thread because I couldn't find the "reply" button on a similarly unresolved thread regarding Adobe AIR installation issues on Windows 7.I would like to say thanks to artrose54 and to playswithtech for their thoughtful responses to my problem. I finally figured out which number I was to delete, and then, having made a copy of the number in notepad, deleted it. Upon a restart to my computer I then was able to download adobe air 2.7. I found that I still could not download the shutterfly express uploader, however; so I applied the same approach. I went looking for the number in the registry that corresponded to the uploader. I deleted it; restarted the computer; returned to shutterfly; and then was able to download the express uploader. I am sure I will find other uses for Adobe Air in the future.

Subject: Re: Adobe AIR won't install - Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Hi everyone,
Here is the fix that worked for me,
You need to go to start run and type in regedit
now press ctrl+f for find and type in "adobe air" without the quotes then click find next
the first entry it finds is the one I deleted, it is a long number on left side of screen that is greyed just right click and delete it
I then rebooted the computer and ran adobe air installation
and it worked with out a problem
The adobe air log file really doesn't tell u anything but where it tried to find the setup.msi file
but it doesn't exist because of the registry entry that needs to be deleted which is what causes the error
If u r not sure of editing the registry then maybe you know someone that can help you
I hope this helps you out it worked for me -

Flash Builder 4.6 keeps crashing with "Adobe AIR.dll_unloaded" error
Hi, Flash Builder Experts~~
Please help me~~
I' m using Flash Builder 4.6 and keep encountering Windows error "FlashBuilder.exe has stop working" anytime.
Anytime means editing, building, switching workspace, closing Flash Builder.
Windows Event Viewer recognized this error as "Application Error" and detail information as following:
Faulting application FlashBuilder.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4b707bdf, faulting module Adobe AIR.dll_unloaded, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4e741f2e, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x624bdff4, process id 0x19ec, application start time 0x01ce9ee098db209a.
My system spec as following:
OS Type: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
Processor: 4 Processors
Memory: 16GB
Flash Builder version as following:
Flash Builder Edition: Flash Builder 4.6 (with SDK 3.6.0/4.5.0/4.5.1/4.6.0)
java.version: 1.6.0_16
Flash Builder.ini JVM configuration
vmargs
-Xms512m
-Xmx1024m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
-XX:PermSize=64m
Error dll file:
File name: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR.dll
File version: 2.5.1.17730
File size:9254 KB
Currently my colleage and I will encounter this error about 4~5 times a day, and its very frustrating
If there is any suggestion ? Maybe I can update this dll file to newer version??
Thanks for reading this discussion~~I've been seeing what sounds like a similar problem (Windows application "BEX" error when attempting to close Flash Builder via its [X] icon).
(Win 7 Enterprise, SP1, 64-bit, i5 + 8GB RAM), Flash Builder 4.6, Java 1.7.0_07)
I tried the following:
-- Launching Tour de Flex (from the task bar icon), and then updating AIR to the latest version
-- Right-clicking on the Flash Builder task bar icon and then selecting "Run as Administrator"
-- Right-clicking on the Flash Builder task bar icon and then selecting "Troubleshoot compatability", then applying the compatability fixes it suggested.
Somewhere along the way, the problem went away. I then ran the compatability troubleshooter again and (I think) removed the compatability changes (since windows security was asking me whether I want to let the application update my computer every time I launched FlashBuilder--annoying!).
The problem still appears to be fixed--but only with a whole ten minutes testing. I'll just have to see if the above is really a fix/work-around. -
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is GM
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is GM now and you can
download it now for FREE from Adobe site –
http://www.adobe.com/products/robohelp/robohelp-packager-for-air
Adobe AIR runtime enables applications to deliver both the
benefits of server connectivity and the compelling end user
experience of a desktop application. With a seamless offline-
online experience, end-users of Adobe AIR applications can continue
to work when they are temporarily offline. RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR now enables you to publish in Adobe AIR format. Neither
of the popular help output options - CHM or WebHelp or WebHelp on a
Server provide the array of features as RoboHelp Packager for Adobe
AIR does today. That said, in my opinion, RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR is a beginning, beginning of a new revolution in help
authoring. Here is a list of what you get today
· Auto Update - Adobe AIR applications that can update
themselves when online connection is available and that can work
perfectly when desktop is offline. For example, Adobe AIR help file
created with RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR will prompt the
end-users when an update is available. With a single click, the
help file will update itself.
· Get Web 2.0 features - Adobe AIR applications can
store information locally – for example, when you add
comments to Online Help, they are stored locally and can be viewed
after you have closed the application. End users can also comment
on external pages and store the comments as part of help file.
Comments are still available when Online Help has been updated
(provided file names don’t change) or when you are offline.
· Extensibility - Unlike HTML Help which depends on the
CHM viewer, the functionality of the Adobe AIR is extensible and
customizable. For example, organizations can add branding
information to Adobe AIR help file, including icons for help file,
branding imagery on the top of the help file and so on.
· Multiple tab – never before end user experience
- Adobe AIR help file also allows you to open multiple tabs within
the tri-pane enabling multiple help topics and threads to be
navigated at the same time.
· Integrated interface to everything your end users need
- You can also add resource links to your help files –
enabling a single access point for product pages, user forums,
knowledge base, online help and external web pages.
· Multiple templates to choose from - Organizations get
to chose from several of the templates and can select a particular
skin or theme for each of these templates. With RoboHelp Packager
for Adobe AIR, there are three templates come out of the box -
Multi-Tab Accordion, Unipane and Classic Help.
· End user preferences - RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR
enables the help users to customize their help by selecting their
preferences (something they can’t do for a CHM or for WebHelp
output – which is not hosted on a Server).
· Cross Platform - Adobe AIR is cross-platform and
cross-browser, supported on Windows, Mac and Linux (currently in
pre-release).
Needless to say, Adobe AIR has attracted a lot of interest
among the help community and some of the experts believe that
within two years, Adobe AIR will be the preferred help format for
40% of all help authors.
If you have not tried it, you can download it now from

http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/When you are comparing this to Flash, does this comparison
extend to the requirement for each end user to install the Air

And that they will also get reminders to update to the latest

"Please contact your administrator" - I AM the Administrator! (Adobe AIR)
I'm having endless frustrations with trying to install Adobe AIR on my Macbook. I'm running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
After launching the Adobe AIR installer file, it takes a while before a window appears citing an error (see attached screenshot).
The problem is that there is only ONE account on my Macbook and it IS set as the admin account. I have double checked and triple checked that the account has admin priviliges.
Since the last few days have fallen over the holidays and it's the weekend now, I've been unable to reach Adobe technical support by phone. Please help in solving this.I just spent days going through this. I had tried everything, even logging is at the root (Systems Administrator). I ran the uninstaller I don't know how many times, I ran the command line prompts. I was getting pretty frustrated and a bit angry about the whole thing. Then I saw the suggestion to look at my log files:
/private/var/log/system.log
When I took a peek at the log file from the install I found something very interesting:
Jul 9 20:27:24 /Volumes/Adobe AIR 1/Adobe AIR Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe AIR Installer[1088]: error during install: [ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Unhandled exception Error: Could not create directory /Applications/Adobe/Flash Player/AddIns/airappinstaller" errorID=3010]
So I went to the directory Applications and found there was an old text file called "Adobe". I renamed that text file, than ran the Adobe AIR installer and it WORKED!!!
So make sure you take a peek at the log files at:
/private/var/log/system.log
Thanks!
Leslie
